The united states of america has one of the best air safety records but they don't have age limits on planes. Rather, they invest heavily on maintenace and aircraft inspectors, to make sure that every plane that takes off is sound and stable. Let's not make ourselves belive that whenever a plane crashes, age is the culpit. Rather our governent should invest more in aircraft inspection, before takeoff and after landing. |
After their photo op ground breaking with namadi sambo, has general electric erected a single pillar in cross river. And now we're hearing of this. We are watching!! |
solomon111: well dangote and other local investors are actually spending their money in Nigeria, and these people still keep investing.my hypothesis is faulty and could breed laziness? Hilarious...listen mister, what i said is an established fact that is killing this nation. For every one dollar investors put in nigeria, 100 dollars in stolen, and you call that a hypothesis, are the fact that thousand of barrels of oil are stolen everyday from nigeria hypothesis? Nigeria has a huge problem and investors know it and will keep capitalizing on it. Go and surf wikileaks and see the cable ann pickards, former shell boss sent to the u.s state department. Saying how she has infiltrated every level of the nigerian government, how foreigners are calling the shorts in the nigerian oil industry, and tell me if that's a hypothesis. |
The most foremost reason it is easy to make money in nigeria is because of the collective greed of our government and citizens. A majority of investors don't come to nigeria because they see buisness or to create jobs, they come to expliot, to take their share of the bongo bongo land. I used to know a british lady who worked with shell. When militancy and kidnapping was booming, i asked her if she felt safe, why has'nt she return to the u.k, she said she's not going anywhere. According to her, there is too much money in nigeria. She says the kind of money she has made in nigeria is something i've never seen. "My salary is now like something you get while on the dole".. She says at times it breaks her heart the avenues by which she gets the money but at last, the locals don't seem to care. All they want is their share, so why should i care when i'll someday be on my way back to the u.k. |
PointB: lol, funny.no. I don't mean on this development. I want them to look at this government, policies and actions of the president during his tenure so far and tell me if there is something or a policy they disagree with. Example, I am a known fierce critic of the president but on this case. I commend him greatly. |
Can any jonathan supporter who have commented on this thread, tell me anything they disagree with him on? |
bloggernaija: He is commissioning other people's work.as much as i disaggree monumentally with jonathan, were do you think we would have been if obasanjo and yar adua were efficent? You can't blame all of nigeria's problem on a man who has been in office for 3 years as opposed to 8 years of obasanjo and 3 years of yar adua and all the wasted years of the military. P/s: i can't belive i'm defending GEJ. |
karl max: true confession! before 2015 people like you would be screaming for GEJ. This is a man u and your likes on nairaland would have nigerians belive his not working but lies don't last long the truth always prevails.let's not overeach now...jonathan still has a lot of short comings and failures also a few commendables like this. |
bloggernaija: YOU CAN TELL THAT TO THE 160 MILLION MUMUactually chinedu nebo said exactly what you just did during the commissioning, so if jonathan had'nt continued with the project and left it in comma like yar adua, what would have happened to it? Can't you just give him a little credit for continuity? |
Billyonaire: Asari Dokubo studied Law at University of Calabar (my alma mater) although he left law for other advanced causes. He is a freedom fighter for Niger Deltans, he is a hero. Who ever calls him illiterate needs to study his biography.idiotic idioicy!!! You know somebody is morally bankrupt to the last penny. When just to spite ameachi, they lie and defend a murderous kleptomanic militant. It's just depreshing. |
So you all know that i'm not a bitter, constant persimist or jonathan hated. I am currently watching the commissioning of the geregu power station in kogi by pres. Jonathan. It is quite an impressive facility and will no doubt give a boost to our power situation. When good things happen in our country, we should be glad but constructive critisim should not be looked upon as being anti-jonathan. You can watch it live on NTA or AIT.

awodman: The policy wasn't developed without consulting major car manufacturing firmsi love my country and i will never routh gor it's failure but the truth must be told. What thrends? Yes, nigeria is attracting investments but they are mostly in the extractive industry. Nigeria is poor for manufacturing. Manufacturers have to produce their own power, our minimum wage is amoungs the highest, poor infastructure like roads, ports, etc, strikes like the drop of a hat, insecurity. These are real problems. Where are the thrends? We have been hearing from previous governments of companies coming to set up manufacturing plants in nigeria and they never come because of these serious problems, so i am skeptical of this one too. But i'll be waiting and hoping that one day i am shamed, when hopefully the companies finally come. |
Sincere 9gerian: Very lame reasoning. Guess what? "Foreign profit oriented" companies are already flooding into Nigeria. Check the threads on the Politics board and you'll see a thread about the World Bank placing $1 billion on the table for the private sector investors in the privatised power sector. GE is already settled in Cross Rivers State. More investments are flooding into the country. Every problem you listed is an opportunity for private sector to make huge profits if govt put the right policies in place. One of such policies is the new automative industrial policy.let's not get crazy here, GE and namadi sambo put a shovel in the ground while being photographed in cross rivers state and you say GE is already on the ground in cross river, how amusing...so inceasant strikes and insecurity are now incentives that attract foreign buisness..once again, how amusing. Once again, we have serious problems. Serious basic problems, the feds should stop living in la la land. |
Power is a very essential part of this country, everybody needs it. As confident as i am that the private sector will be able to be more efficent in service delivery, i am equally scared that these privates will turn nigerians into cash cows, that is why i hope in whatever aggreement was sign with this privates, the feds included a stipulation which gives them a way of preventing expliotation of the nigetian people. Secondly, does the public have a stake in this privatization? The british government is privatizing the royal mail, the public can buy stakes in it, it's former public workers get a huge chunk of the pay, and they have priority when it comes to buying shared in the new company. Is that how the nigerian system is? If no, why? |
Sincere 9gerian: If you google some of those your questions, you'll find answers.i don't need a lecture from you on the structures of the nigerian government nor do i need you to tell me stuff i already know. We all know that there is a collective failure of leadership on all levels of government. This country has greater problems that the frevolous policy. Every short coming you outlined above, the federal government has'nt fared better in their jurisdiction, are federal universities up to standard, do every resident of abuja have access to clean and affordable water? Are all federal roads good? Anybody who told this government that a foreign profit oreinted company will come and open a manufacturing plant in our country with epileptic power supply, insecurity, substandard infastructure, a almost $200 minimum wage and unions so powerfull they strike at the drop of a hat is an amatuer. |
ogugua88: This is why anti-gun groups will forever be vocal, because idiots like this 18-year-old kid are parading town without the safety on. Smh RIP.the second amendment shall not be infringed upon. In iowa, the blind can now own guns. ![]() ..america is a joke. |
This policy is rubbish and it will collapse like a house of cards, it is amazing how a country with the gigantic amount of BASIC problems it faces. It's government rather than focusing exclusively on them, is jumping from one fantasy policy to another. That is the problem in this country. The leadership has no focus, they hop from pillar to post and low information nigerians cheer them on. Can the jonathan government put a number on the amount of people it has lifted out of poverty between 2009-2013, how many job has it created? How many more nigerians have access to safe and affordable water, healthcare, education? We have basic problems! The federal executive council should Stop living in la la land. |
ckkris: 'truth' is that in 2009 Gov Amechi locked up people who opened another PDP office in Port Harcourt. And in 2013 the same Amechi actually opened another PDP office, and expects to be tolerated. Please respect the word Truth.and the futher truth is that ameachi closed down that austin okpara PDP faction office in port harcourt under the support and orders of pres. Jonathan, because austin okpara made it clear that his faction will be supporting atiku in the PDP presidential primaries. So it was not a crime when he had jonathan's support to do it to others, but it is a big crime when he does it to jonathan? |
ckkris: For you Cacophony 419, to get it into your dumbskull, that your NOISE cannot influence anyone, except the ex-prisoners you call Timariv.to the likes of you, the truth is noise. |
For the second time in two months, the Nigeria Police boss, Mohammed Abubakar, redeployed senior police officers across the country, but left out the controversial Rivers Police Commissioner, Joseph Mbu. The Inspector General of Police, Monday, ordered the immediate redeployment of 61 senior police officers. An earlier redeployment was done on August 19. Despite the call by the state governor, opposition parties, and even some Peoples Democratic Party Governors for Mr. Mbu’s redeployment, he has managed to retain his position. The police commissioner has been accused of meddling in the political affairs in Rivers State, and taking sides with the opponents of Governor Rotimi Amaechi in the state. He has, however, always maintained that he’s acted professionally and has accused Mr. Amaechi of being a dictator. According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, Monday’s redeployment by Mr. Abubakar is part of measures by the Force to ensure effectiveness in the fight against crime. Those affected by the redeployment exercise are six Commissioners of Police (CPs), 26 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), and 29 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs). This follows a recent approval of promotion of 39 senior officers, some on September 27, by the Police Service Commission following Mr. Abubakar’s recommendation. Four CPs were promoted to AIGs, eight DCPs to substantive Commissioners of Police, seven ACPs to DCPs, and 20 CSPs to ACPs. Among the newly promoted AIGs is former CP Anambra State Police Command, Balla Nasarawa; acting AIG in-charge of Zone 12 Bauchi, Edgar Nanakumo; former CP Federal Special Anti- Robbery Squad, SARS, Mohammed Gana; and acting AIG in- charge, Border Patrol, Sabo Ibrahim. Mr. Abubakar, congratulating affected officers, commended their commitment and sacrifice; and enjoined them to blaze the trail of providing quality leadership to their subordinate officers in consonance with the on-going reformation agenda of the Force. He also said that the elevation of the officers was based on merit and they are therefore, expected to be more dutiful in carrying out the responsibilities of their new ranks. |
Two suspected homosexuals, Samuel Friday, 19, and Oni Oluwatobi, 18, were on Wednesday arraigned before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court. They were arraigned on a two-count charge of indecent sexual practice and seducing another into homosexuality. The prosecutor, Inspector Solomon Oladele told the court that the accused committed the offence sometime in May 2012 at about 2 a.m. at Peace of Jesus Apostolic Church, Asubiaro, Osogbo. Mr. Oladele said the accused conspired and unlawfully committed indecent sexual practice and had homosexual sex between themselves, adding that this could have caused breach of peace. He said the offence committed by the accused contravened sections 516 and 249 (d) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003. Mr. Friday was also arraigned for allegedly seducing one Oladipupo Moruf by indecently touching and sucking his penis. The prosecutor said that the offence was also committed in May 2012 at about 4 p.m. at Sadiat area of Osogbo Mr. Oladele said Moruf’s complaints led to the arrest of the accused. He said the offences committed by the accused contravened sections 516, 249(d) and 217 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003. The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and their counsel, Nnena Ngwu, applied for their bail. The Chief Magistrate, Olusola Aluko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with two sureties in like sum. Mr. Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, swear to an affidavit of means, and provide three years tax clearance certificate as well as two passport photographs. The case was adjourned to November 14 for mention.

kingbang: But he is the one in hell right now.if he was in hell, why is'nt he left there to roast? Why are they negociating? Why does it offend them whenever he speaks? Why is he a torn in theor flesh? |
GIVE THEM HELL, AMEACHI! |
kulyie: you keep regurgitating stewpeedity,as a matter of fact you an embodiment and folly.you dont know a woman and you have started making conclusions that she is always making herself available for every propaganda.what rubbish is this one saying? Do you think using grammer that you don't know make you sound smarter or more convincing? You made no point. You just kept on retraiting hogwash. I think we're done here. |
Which simpleton brought this hogwas to frontpage? What is becoming of this stupid forum. There are educative and well researched threads wasting away in sections and this trash is making frontpage. Who ever owns this forum had better do a review or risk irrelevance. |
ckkris: Everything about Symphony 007 is wrong. I can bet on this. ![]() ![]() ..i see our political disagreements for you has translated into personal dislike. Well, i want you to know that despite our differences, i love you dearly. |
Ngwakwe: The threat was real, that's why the Federal Government jettisoned Peugeot Series for Toyota Brands.maybe the federal government did. But i remember very well that state governments like rivers, continued to patronize peugeot for the 409 executive car. |
ilugunboy: OP...what about the topic heading is wrong. The president set up a commitee to to work out modalities of a national conference. Does the topic say anything to the contrary? |
adconline: I think you are getting it wrong. France has a military pact with Cameroun, so they could have defended Cameroun if Naija attacked first. Same way US would defend Taiwan cos they have a military/defense pact.exactly, just as the u.s will bombard north korea if they step an inch beyond the DMZ, talk less of attacking south korea. |
Licensed-2-Kill:my dear, for the fact that france and cameroon have a defence pact, france has the right to fight with camerron against any aggresor. It's like nato, they all have a defence pact. If you attack one country, the rest can attack you. When the u.k attacked argentina over the falkland, the u.s sent aircraft carriers and intelligence to the u.k, france gave britain all the blueprints for the weapons they have sold to argentina. But at last, what france said was just a threat because there was no way nigeria would attack cameroon. |
President Goodluck Jonathan has constituted an advisory council to work out modalities for a proposed national conference. Mr. Jonathan said in his Independence Day anniversary broadcast to the nation Tuesday morning that the committee has one month to design a framework for a national dialogue capable of defusing tension across the country. Former senator and Afenifere chieftain, Femi Okurounmu will chair the committe while a former National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, Akilu Indabawa, will act as secretary. |
