Sery777: don't mind them, instead of saying their area they said ph.what part of port harcourt town. Tell me, so that we'll know who the real lair is. |
Power is not 24/7 but it has greatly improved and significantly in some parts. The areas not experiencing this are undergoing some work. Governor ameachi is working. |
The political complexion of passengers aboard the presidential jet, 5N-FGS, which landed at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos Sunday evening is stoking fresh concerns that the River State mission team, plotting the ouster of Governor Rotimi Amaechi, has moved into new drive. At about 5:30 P.M. in the wet Sunday ambience of Lagos, the Presidential jet from Abuja taxied to a stop revealing a velvet rank of well-known anti-Amaechi political juggernauts, comprising of former Governor of River State, Celestine Omehia; Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike; PDP Chairman Rivers State, Felix Obuah: and Abiye Sekibo, impeccable aviation sources told PREMIUM TIMES. Details of what appeared to be a Lagos visit for a meeting were unavailable but by 7:45 P.M, Sunday night, according to the sources, the meeting was held and the flight, with its passengers, was airborne again, heading towards Abuja. The leader of the team, Mr. Nyesom, could not be reached to comment for this story. He did not answer or return calls made to his telephone Monday morning. Special Adviser to the President, Reuben Abati, wouldn’t also comment for this story. He told our reporter Monday morning he was rushing to catch a flight but would investigate the allegation and revert as soon as he was able. But another adviser to the president, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, said the anti-Amaechi team could have hired the presidential jet. “I’m aware there is a unit that does commercial operations so people can actually pay and use the presidential jet,” he said. “So, if indeed they used a presidential jet, it does not necessarily mean that the president knows about it.” The meeting is coming two days after the Thursday, October 4, decision by the Supreme Court to hear the appeal, filed by the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, seeking to nullify a ruling of a Court of Appeal which gave Celestine Omehia, as the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate for the state, the right to challenge a judgment of the Federal High Court that held that Amaechi’s tenure ended on May 29, 2011. The opposition to Mr. Amaechi, unable to oust him so far on many fronts, appears to see providence in the legal understanding of the question of the governor’s tenure. Three years ago, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Cyprian Chukwu, asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to interpret the Supreme Court judgment that in 2007 removed Mr. Omehia from office and declared Mr. Amaechi as the governor. Since Mr. Amaechi took the oath of office in October 2007 and not May 29, as other governors in the country, Mr. Chukwu wanted the court to determine whether, specifically, governorship election should be held in Rivers at the April general election date. After Justice Abdul Kafarati ruled that the governorship elections in Rivers State would hold during the general election of April, Mr. Omehia, unhappy about it, and not even a party to the high court suit, applied to the Court of Appeal to join him to enable him appeal against the judgment. “I am dissatisfied with the judgment of the lower court and wish to appeal against same as a person interested in the matter, and in the office of governor of Rivers State which forms the basis of my interest as well as a person interested in the interpretation of a judgment in which I was a principal party,” Mr. Omehia said in his affidavit. The Court of Appeal granted Mr. Omehia the right to appeal the high court judgment, and a dissatisfied Mr. Amaechi filed an appeal at the Supreme Court claiming that in granting Mr. Omehia’s prayers, the court of appeal erred in law. PREMIUM TIMES legal analyst, Jiti Ogunye, said late Sunday in Lagos that the anti- Amaechi group was investing in a false hope adding, “in so far as they are looking to benefit from the strategy of tenure, the Supreme Court has resolved the matter in the case of Obi Vs. INEC where it was decided that it is when an elected person is sworn in that his tenure commences.” Mr. Ogunye said if the mission team that visited Lagos with the Presidential Jet thought they could expect something tangible, “on grounds of the politics of tenure, I am sorry for them because it is a failed strategy.” He said they were confusing two inter- related but nevertheless distinct cases. Obi Vs. INEC on the one hand, and Amaechi Vs. PDP on the other hand. In the case of Obi Vs. INEC, Governor Obi challenged INEC’s decision to peg his tenure to 10 months on the ground that then Governor Ngige who had spent 3 years and 2 months, before the electoral court ousted Ngige and installed him, Obi. The Supreme Court decision on this has become the classic authority on the contention on tenure. However in the case of Amaechi Vs. PDP, Mr. Amaechi who had won the party primary was arbitrarily substituted for Mr. Omehia who then went ahead to win the election. But Mr. Amaechi challenged his substitution, and the Supreme Court decided by mandatory injunction to oust Mr. Omehia, who had been governor for about four months, and install Mr. Amaechi. The question then was whether Mr. Amaechi who was sworn in in October rather than May was completing Mr. Omehia’s tenure. Mr. Ogunye said “while the cases appeared to be similar, they really are not.” The case before the court in Amaechi vs PDP was on the status of a flag bearer for the party, he said. “The effort to rid Amaechi on this legal ground is unlikely to succeed because the Supreme Court would have had to reverse itself and that typically requires an exceptional circumstance,” Mr. Ogunye said.

frankyychiji: . Nobody is denying anything here. The rubbish article was meant for u and thats why you are consuming it with relish!!! Eediot!animal. You and your fellow vultures are in denial. |
Being in denial is a very bad thing. Ignoring the truth just makes you ignorant, it does'nt change or negate the facts. The article clearly articulates a position and even went as far as mentioning an address....if you don't belive then go check it out. Ignoring the message and attacking the messanger. Is just outright pathetic. |
A plot by President Goodluck Jonathan's henchman to pull down Akwai Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio's political structures has been uncovered. LEADERSHIP exclusively gathered that the former Secretary to the Akwai Ibom State Government (SSG) Mr Umana Okon Umana, has opened an office at Wuse 2 in Abuja to effectively execute his plan. The office, which is at 39 Durban Street, Wuse 2, is to used for the political engineering on how Mr Umana can take over the political structures of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state from Akpabio. Mr Umana Okon Umana is believed to be enjoying the backing of President Goodluck Jonathan who currently doubtful of Akpabio's loyalty, especially as it concerns 2015. Jonathan is not ready to take chances on 2015, hence he has contracted Mr Umana to dislodge Akpabio. The Abuja office is to be run by one Mike Bush and a Northern political mobiliser with a large following, Mallam Usman. But in a swift reaction to the plot, the Akwai Ibom State government, through the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Aniekan Umana, said Akpabio was unmoved by the plot, saying Umana had no political relevance in the state. The commissioner further said it was laughable for Umana to think that he could fight Akpabio from Abuja, assuring that President Jonathan was confident of the governor's loyalty to him. It would be recalled that Governor Akpabio forced Mr. Umana to resign as SSG in July this year. Umana, it was gathered then, dared the governor, saying he would spill the beans on Akpabio if he attempted to stop him from becoming governor in 2015. http://leadership.ng/news/061013/plot-pull-down-akpabios-political-structures-uncovered |
Billyonaire: The British Prime minister is not a paradigm of what should be. What makes you rationalize the use of Britain as a yardstick to measure Nigeria ?with all due respect sir, you just said nothing. The fact remains that a fleet of jets is the least of nigeria's problems. The country has serious problems and we need every penny to solve them. Is'nt the son suppose to learn from the father to better himself? Britain is miles richer than nigeria but it says it can't afford the frivolity of a plane for their head of state and head of government. If i should'nt compare nigeria with britain then tell me another country, that spends so much on trivial things while a majority of it's citizens suffer, should i compare nigeria with north korea, or zimbabwe? Call out wrong when you see the:. Not everything is defensible. |
ACM10: How this despot managed to hold on to power in Europe in this era is a mystery to me.easy, ally yourself with the russians. |
Billyonaire: Irrespective of what we think individually, the safety of the President of Nigeria is paramount, I suggest that the Presidential Fleet should always have the best of nextgen Aircraft fortified with missile defense system.the british prime minister and the president of nigeria, who needs more security? But the british prime minister has no plane. He hires british airway for he and his staff to travel. |

CAMEROONPRIDE: meanwhile your drunkard ,clueless and shoeless fisherman you guys call president is busy licking Obama azz . Anuofiaha..ha..ha! The federal republic of nigeria has diplomatic ties with the u.s and other western nations. They are not lords over us that is why our country openely defy the u.s and commonwealth on many issues, when has cameroon ever stood up to france? Does'nt france control cameroon. Can you president stand up to francois holland. Drop this arguement before you're disgraced. |
BabaAlabi: Are you saying that if I send one missile to the president's plane nothing will happen?that is the funny thing. One missle and it is drop from the sky like a ball. If they think there're so sorphisticated, why does'nt it have flare deployers, escape pod,etc |
sergio-zlatan:keep liking it. The money spent on this would have kept some kids in nigeria from dying of hunger. |
What a bloody waste. Who are you impressing abroad with all this nonesense when they know a majority of your people are poor. Says alot about our disfuctional nation when our president owns a multitude of aircraft, meanwhile when tony blair wanted to buy a boeing for him and the queen to use for international travels, parliament struck it down saying they can't afford it. Wastefull nation! |
mickyarams: Dude, Australia is one of the most racist/ Xenophobic countries in the world especially if you are not white skinned. They blame migrants for all the problems in that country. Anybody that wants to emigrate out of Nigeria for genuine reasons should avoid countries such as UK and Australia, Canada is much better especially if you are highly skilled.not all australians are racist. It is stupid for any australian or american to be racist against immigrants because that land is'nt theirs. Their ancestors were also immigrants who stole the lands from their native owners. The only reason why anti-immigrant feeling are creeping up in australia is because they are starting to feel to pinch of umemployment and they blame foreigners for stealing jobs meant for them. |
dr dams: So Abacha wasnt human enough to av loved ones? Wud u plz respect my emotion and sympathize wit me.yeah, i guess you're right. Even adolf hitler had loved once. |
What this survey won't tell you is the level of racism in countries like switzerland. Denmark, norway,etc...these countries are very white countries with a low birth rate. Right now, they can be comfortable with a few blacks in their country. But when the blacks start growing and reproducing. Catastrophy will set in. They feel that their country is being taken away from them. I would not advise any black to migrate to any scandinavian country or the others mentioned. It's gonna be hell. Stick to the u.s,canada and australia. They have a more diverse populations and you can fit in better. |
This man is sick...nothing he says surprises me again. I shutter at the reality that this nut job was an aviation minister. He and i have had many encounters on twitter. He once twitted the link to an article which suggested barack obama is the antichrist. And i'm expected to take this gap toothed fool serious? You can disagree with other people's politics but going as far as ochestrating conspiracy theories to slander them is utterly unacceptable. Talk like this in nigeria is like dangling a gallon of gasoline on a burning fire. One day, this man will have to be dealt with because freedom of speech does not give you to right to shout fire in a crowded theater. |
dr dams: D death of my dearest Gen. Sanni Abacha smtyms in 1998.. And Fela AnIKUlapo Kuti a year Earlier..sanni abacha? You need help. |
I would'nt call this the most painfull but it surely haunts me till today. On 10th december 2005, i lost my childhood friend to the sosoliso plane crash. She was coming home for vacation from school in abuja. She and i were so so close...not until now that i'm a little grown up that i realize that i actually loved her. Those our childhood fondness was actually love. I will never know if she felt the same way but she will forever be in my heart. |
Commissioners of finance from the 36 states of the federation were in Abuja twice in the course of last month for their statutory Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting. On both occasions, they left empty-handed. The meeting chaired by finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala ended in a deadlock because the federal government was unable to put on the table N140 billion the states said was in arrears and due for payment to them. In fact, the commissioners staged a walkout from the second meeting in protest against being “treated with contempt”, according to their chairman, Mr Timothy Odaah. In a face-saving reaction, the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation quickly said government was making efforts to get N75 billion from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to pay the states. While making strenuous efforts to deny that it has run out of cash to share to the states, the government has, curiously, admitted that the nation has been losing billions of naira every day to grand oil theft going on in the Niger Delta. To mask the precarious situation further, the federal government has unilaterally decreed that revenues would, from this month, be shared on the basis of the actual amount earned by the country rather than what was budgeted. For a clincher, minister of finance Okonjo-Iweala later declared that the federal government could no longer implement the 2013 budget as passed by the National Assembly. From the foregoing, only a rabid optimist would still insist that all is well with the country’s revenue flow. There are firm grounds to believe that revenues accruing to the federation account have taken a significant nosedive, setting the federal economic team scrabbling to meet the statutory dues of the federating units. The immediate cause of this should be the huge theft of crude oil in the Niger Delta, and of course corruption in government circles. Both of these reasons are untenable. A government that cannot secure the human and natural resources in its domain or rein in grand larceny in official quarters has no legal or moral grounds to continue in office. The President Goodluck Jonathan administration will therefore be on the brink of losing its moral mandate to rule if it cannot stop the brazen raid on the country’s main source of revenue – crude oil – by oil thieves in the Niger Delta. The administration’s natural wish to see off its last two years in office would also become indefensible if it failed to crack down on corruption in government. Bankruptcy seems to be starring Nigeria in the face. It is quite incomprehensible, just as it is alarming. There must be decisive action against it from the federal government without delay. |
horpe132: Hmmmm..............Waiting 4 Gej to do copy copy.......... ;DHmmmm..............Waiting 4 Gej to do copy copy..........pres. Obama is a people person, he has this distinct ability to influence others even if they don't like him. Pres. Jonathan is a very reserved person. You can see it in him. He is not a people person. |
And everybody wants to dump on ameachi. Who is the south south governor who bankrolled this farce? I have it 2 guesses, 1. The animal from bayelsa who runs an over 200 billion budget but does not have a single flyover in his state capital. 2. The fool from akwa ibom who governs one of nigeria's wealthiest states but holds more debt than it's fellow oil rich states. The animal who gets debt to pay debt. But at last, because they are loyal lapdogs, no one calls out their filt.

POPEMOBILE the popemobile is the famous car with which the pope drives around st. Peters square or countries he visit so he can relate better with the crowd, during his palpacy, pope benedict used a mercedes bulletproof popemobile. Embelished his his flags. Durimg his palpacy, pope francis has shunned does popemobiles and opted for a simpler and more open one without vatican or papal flags.
|
THRONES. The papal thrones are famous for it's splendor. Embeded it gold and fine velvet, they are postioned in specific areas of the vatican where papal audience are held. E.g, the sixtine chapel, clementine hall, etc. Pope francis has had all those thrones removed and replaced with simple white cussioned chairs wich will serve as his thrones for his palpacy.
|
DRESSING. pope benedict during his palpacy fully embraced the splendor of the palpacy. He wore the most elaborate regalia's for his masses and audiences, during his palpacy, the vatican contracted a litiny of tailors to put together the pope's vestages. He was distinct in his dressing wearing every one for an occasion. The normal cassock for overseas trips, the choir dress for audiences, golden robers and cloaks for mass, etc. But pope francis has shunned all that. He wears his white cassocks all the time. And wears subdued robes and cloaks for his mass celebrations.
|
Before you read it should be noted that this writeup does not aim to exault any pope against the other, or condemn any of their styles. It's just an article pointing out significant differences between the two pontiffs. CRUCIFIX NECK PIECE. One of the things that set apart the pope from other priest, bishops and cardinals is his golden crucifix neck piece. Every pope had one, and pope benedict's own was specially crafted by an italian blacksmith upon his papal assumption. But pope francis has departed from that tradition and has his neck piece instend, made of iron. Which is the least element of worth after gold, silver, bronze. THE FISHERMANS RING. At the hand of every pope is perhaps the most important item of their palpacy, the fishermans ring. It is the symbol of papal authority and seal for the pope's personal documents. Every pope has had their's made out of gold. Signifying the power and wealth of the heavenly father, but pope francis has diverted from the practise and made his fisherman's ring out of silver. THE RED PAPAL SHOES. it is the tradition of pope's to wear the red papal shoe. Which is a sign of their power, grandeur and somewhat royalty. During the middle ages, it was vatican protocol for visitors to the pope to kiss his red shoes upon meeting him. Pope benedict had his red shoes made specially by italain coblers, but pope francis has shunned the red papal shoes and rather gone for the normal black shoes everyone wears. CASSOCK TROUSERS. During his palpacy, pope benedict like every other pope wore a white cassock, but he also wore a white trouser under the cassock. Signifying the overall pureness of the pope. But pope francis choose to wear a black trouser under his white cassock signifying his belief that no one is fully pure, that everyone has vestages of sin.

manny4life: My brother, it will serve you best to STOP acting that you know it all because it wouldn't help your cause. American Airlines has more than 5,000+ flights daily, the U.S. has more 85,000+ flights daily, so in your perfect wisdom, FAA inspectors inspects each flight? Who's the bigger fooll? My advice, quit saying stuff you know nothing about. Every airline has a maintenance program, from time to time, FAA will ground certain airplanes, and inspect them before putting them back to service but to claim that they inspect aircraft before each flight shows how smart you really are.i love to argue sensible things, with sensible people, this should put you in your place. http://www.pprune.org/atc-issues/159488-routine-runway-inspections-active-runway.html http://www.csmonitor.com/world/global-news/2010/0202/what-caused-the-2000-concorde-crash
|
manny4life: What has airport got to do with airplanes? Stick to the topic.don't let me call you a fool. It is the responsibility of two pilots of inspect the tires, engines, gears, and everything associated with passanger jumbo jet? You see how you think? Or maybe it's because you live in nigeria where everything goes. If you actually travel, you'll realise that the in a country like the u.s and other developed countries. Agencies like the FAA, have teams of aircraft inspectors who are trained to certify every inch of a plane before it takes off. Once again, it's because you live in nigeria, go find out how other countries manage airports. Their are teams of runway inspectors who drive along runways between flight take offs to clear it of any dirt of plastic and make sure stuff like the bird sirens are working fine. The concord flight that too off from charles d'gaulle hit a plastic fragment on the runway which created a dent on the gas tank. The tank started leaking fuel and when the plane was in the air, it caught fire, burnt for a while and crashed. |
That is why i always say that painting a airport and putting new tiles is not renovation. A lot more has to go into aircraft inspection. Are planes that take off in nigeria adequately inspected before takeoff? How often are the runways in nigerian airports cleaned? A piece of plastic the size of your pinky finger, that fell from another plane is what crashed a concord jet fron paris in 2000. These are extremely essential and i don't think the nigeria government has paid enough attention to this. |
