ocelot2006: Hey buttwipe, are you blind or something? Read the darn post again, dickhead. I CLEARLY said the A-340, NOT the A-360. Seriously, how the hell did you pass your English WAEC exams?

Anyway, I admit that the plane in the pic is the Boeing 737, not the four engine Airbus A-340, even though it looks more like the 900/900ER rather than the 800. But it still doesn't change the fact that Enugu airport can handle the 787 dreamliner. Afterall, the 737-800,900, and 900ER are equally a New Generation aircrafts.

As for the Airbus A-360, I reserve my comment 'cos I know only 2 airports that can handle that large aircraft. MMA and Uyo. Maybe PH can 'cos i've seen it handle the giant Antonov hauling oil rig equipment.
was it you attempt to make a point or tell me that you're not so clueless about plane as taught because you suceeded in achieving none. Just admit you mistake and move on.
PoliticsRe: Rice Import Drops By 50% As Local Production Kicks - Minister by Symphony007: 11:53am On Aug 25, 2013
Pukkah: Why would a Minister talk in such a general and nebulous terms like this on a subject that's this important?

Why would a Minister choose not to quote figures but would rather have me check with the banks or CBN?

I want this policy to succeed but the Minister shouldn't sell us a dummy the way someone said the Ministry of Solid Minerals had employed a whopping 2 million people.

This Minister or another one should tell us in specific terms:

1. When the implementation of this good policy started.

2. The locations of the rice farms/mills.

3. How the government has supported the farms to achieve results.

4. The number of metric tonnes that have been produced and the year(s).

5. The exact decline in Customs revenue and to compensate for this, the (estimated) number of people that have been employed by the farms.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that what the Minister appears to have relied on - reduction in rice importation - is not a sufficient reason to conclude that there is an 'upsurge in local production of rice'. For example, have people found other substitutes? Have importers started evading duties? Etc
leave minister usman alone, he is delusional. How many rice farms are in nigeria? How many rice mills are in nigeria? When last did you eat made in nigerian rice? Nigerian is still the number 1 importer of thia parboiled rice followed b benin, meanwhile we can grow and mill our own rice. The thia people know they are making billions off this country so they continue to enhance their rice industry.

Below is a picture of yingluk shinuwa, the thai prime minister opening a new rice milling plant and testing the rice milled there. When will we see a picture like this of our president?

bobosydney: Stop talking like ignorant man. How can you Nigeria better than Thailand in terms of infrastructure ? You must be smoking Weed and Alomo bitter . I've been to Thailand twice and I won't let you tell me about Thailand that you haven't been to and the major source of Thailand revenue is tourism and not on rice. Man, stop behaving like a bush man or ignorant.
where did i tell you that nigeria is better than thailand infastructurally? Are you insane? Of course, they have better infastructure because they manage their money better, we are richer but have inferior infastructure because this is a nation of thieves.

Agriculture added over 1.3 trillion baht to the country's GDP in 2012, while tourism added only 71 billion, so where do you get your economic sense, idea or view from?
PoliticsRe: Pictures of first international flight from Enugu. by Symphony007: 9:43am On Aug 25, 2013
ocelot2006: If the hi-tech Ethiopian airline owned Airbus A-340 can land at Enugu as clearly demonstrated in those pics, why can't the relatively smaller Boeing 787 dreamliner? Do you really think the whole upgrade job was only restrricted to the terminal buildings and didnt include the runway and taxiways?
ha..ha..ha..ha..ha! You are telling me that plane that landed in enugu is an airbus A-360? For the love of God where did you see that? That is a boeing 737-800. Ethopia airline has no airbus A-360 in it's fleet, they only have two dreamliners and they can't land such expensive machines in this shanty. They are meant for the japanese routh. Lol.

bobosydney: I just think that your analysisis wrong because you can't compare Thailand with Nigeria in terms of facilities ,economy and advance Technology . I was in Thailand last year and i'm still going there again in December before I come naija. Bangkok airport is 15 times bigger than MMA and there they still having Air traffic congestion with it and the world class airport.
they are better than us infastructurally, why? They spend their money well. Where do you think they get their revenue from? Providing cheap labour of electronic, texile and other industries in the country, tourism, agriculture where they are the largest exporter of rice to the world, with nigeria as their number 1 customer in africa. Their GDP is in the area of above 300 billion dollars, nigeria ahs list 400 billion dollars to corruption, so what made them better than us?

t-something:
Perhaps if you reduce the hate in your heart, you ears would have been open to hear that GEJ isn't just building new airport terminal buildings in Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Kano , but he is also creating an aerotropolis ( this means a city booming with economic activities situated around an airport terminal. would contain hotels , malls , bus stations and other money spinning ventures . Am sorry I had to explain this to you because with your low sense of reasoning you could think aerotropolis means Police station for Aero Contractors )

Instead of dwelling in hate and complaining how the luggage cart is pulled by a tractor , you should ask yourself what are the basic things that make up an airport terminal?

Is there an access road and car park for intending travellers ? Yes
Is there a ticketing stand where you can get your tickets and boarding pass? Yes
Is there a waiting lounge with seats for you to wait for your flight? Yes
Is there adequate security at the airport? Yes
Are planes able to take off and land safely? Yes
Are they able to take your luggage onboard and off the planes? Yes

Therefore my brother you don't have any basis for condemning the airport because those luxuries your asking for evolves as a result of improvement to existing basic facilities .

On your comparison of money lost to corruption , you could have also complained that Obama should buy Ferrari sports cars for their police afterall that's what is used in UAE , and America has squandered over 3 trillion dollars fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan .

By the way we are still waiting to see pictures of your room and parlour and if it isn't like what we watch in the movies , then you're not fit to be a human .
aerotropolis? Really? When is it starting? Show me pic of a single bulldozer or drill in sight or a single pillar erected. Or is it an artist impression that you saw? Like the new multimillion naira abuja city gate that were're yet to see.

Funny that you outlined those things as criteria for an international airport, do you which other facility has those things you listed, an AIRSTRIP. If those are your criteria for an international airport then you are ignorant to what a international airport is. Where is the international transit area with hotel like rooms? Where is a mall were passangers can shop? How many cafe's are there if any? Let me not go too far. Go to wikipedia and read what international airports are today.

When didi ferrari cars enhance good policing? Do you know that the amount of cars police departments around the u.s spend on cars which gets destroyed in high spped chases will buy all the UAE ferrari. That was an incredibly stupid assumption or example to make...American is squandering trillions on a war in afganistan but at least their citizens and memebers of congress know where the money is going. Pentagon officials can account for where every penny is going. Do you know all the people stealing your money in nigeria? Can the national assembly or your gvovernment account for the over half a trillion dollars this country has lost to corruption?

Your final paragraph was too shambolic to understand talk less of respinding.

I can now see that your hatred for this airport is not the standard but the location. Bro this is not healthy for you. Tomorrow you start sing ibo should leave Lagos now this is an opportunity and you are killing yourself.

Even Lagos and ABJ look far from an international airport. The bus terminal you posted is far far better than any airport in west Africa so I do not understand the sense you are making. Should we close down Lagos cos its not up to bus terminal standard in Thailand?
once again, it does'nt shame you to say a bus station in a country you enrich with your rice money is better than every airport in your country. Rather than demanding better. You are satisfied with it and defend more low standard airports. If the money spent on this airport was put into MMA, which is the gateway to nigeria and it becomes world class, won't it be better for the economy?
For the billiont time, i am not yoruba. I don't have to be from a particular tribe to be critical of my government. Geez...when didi nigeria get this tribalistic?

So what do you suggest? We close this tight airport till we can afford to build the kind of bus station you have in Thailand? Then after 4 years you will still come back and complain GEJ couldn't do anything in 4 years.

The owners and users of the airport are happy despite how overcrowded and ugly it is, so I see no reason why you should have stroke on other people's happiness. If you don't like the airport , nobody forced you to use it, you can even avoid all Nigerian airports and take a bus to acrra and fly from there to that your fantasy bus station in Thailand. When you get there, you can lay your bed on the spacious bus station , even play football at the departure lounge and take many pictures . While you are there, am sure you will be tortured by the smiling faces of the happy Nigerians who flew from that airport as they show it in the headline news over there, so I suggest you ask for the nearest transformer , sprinkle water over it and hug it, because so many more good news you won't know how to manage is coming.

FRESH BREEZE ........................................... since 2011
your post was most childish but i'll pick out the little points you made and address them.
Firstly, i am not going anywhere or any country to use their facilities. Unlike you that jubilate on the floor because bread crumbs were thrown to you from your governments table,I belive as a nigerian, i deserve better, and by God's grace, if i try hard enough. One day, i'll have a government that gives me better.

Secondly, if jonathan just used all the money wasted here to reconstruct a new abuja, lagos or port harcourt airport, it will be a legacy to him. Right now no nigerian airport is on the best airport list and they keep building more trash to add to the existing once.

But ofcourse it must have been upgraded. The same thing with Guangzhou baiyun airport. People are not celebrating structure but intentional wickedness of past Nigerian leaders including your follow yorubaman not to allow our people to have an international airport.
first of all, i am not yoruba, i am becoming appauled by this idea that anyone that is critical of this government is yoruba. Is this how this country will grow? You breath tribalism. Secondly yes, you went to thailand in 2001 and landed at the don mueang international airport on arrival in nigeria you landed at MMA. Today if you go to thailand, you'll land at suvarnabhumi international airport, a state of the art facility but on arrival back in nigeria, you'll still land at the same old MMA which is not on an best or worse airport list globally. Is that what you call progress. Since 2001, the thai government realised that their old airport was not fit for global standard, anew one was built and the old shut in 2006. Meanwhile since that 2001 till today, it's still MMA, what has changed?

cjrane: Nigerians love to tell fat lies. Indeed, aviation is part of Thailand's successes. Their country is well opened up and they donot hoard international airports restricted to just the capital, Bangkok.Thailand with a fraction of Nigeria's population (60 million people)and a landmass less than Southwest region of Nigeria, has 7 International airports, all of which are bigger and more efficient than our biggest airport in Lagos.

BTW, Thailand's economy is more than one and half times of Nigeria's
Thailand GDP= $662.6 billion (2012 est.)
Nigeria GDP= $450.5 billion (2012 est.)

Thailand Per Capita
Thai citizens per capita= $10,300 (2012 est.)
Nigerian citizen Per Capita= $2,800 (2012 est.)

Source: CIA world fact book.

Please, don't tell ridiculous lies about verifiable facts to make a strange point!
let's get to work, first of all if you had a brain, you'll know that those GDP figures you quoted are gotten by dates in 2012 u.s dollar. These are the real GDP figures.

Thailand:$345.67 billion
nigeria:$243.99 billion.

These GDP numbers from a country that depends of tourism, services, providing cheap labour for foreign manufactuting and agriculture.
Nigeria's oil revenue:$50.3 billion(2011)
nigeria's money lost to corruption:$400 billion(more than their GDP)
money got by nigeria as aid:$450 billion(more than their GDP and double what the u.s used in reconstructing the entire western europe after world war 2)

thailand biggest rice exporter:nigeria.

So you see that nigeria has made more money than this country both lost it to the thieves you're supporting. We keep enriching them with our rice money when we can grow rice, and when the build better infastructure you say they cannot be compared to nigeria. What next, nigeria cannot be compared to bangladesh? Because this is a train station in their capital. Dakar.

Criticise when their is need for it and celebrate when the need be. We all know noting is working in nigeria so that is why people celebrate when they see a little new development. If you are a regular traveller you will notice now that queue at mm check will reduce which is good as it will help the little facility their to last a bit longer. Sincere 9gerian: Many have GONE from hate-induced STROKE. Take it easy.

Alot of people trooped to the airport to see, with their korokoro eyes, the inaugural international flight. That made the airport terminal appear congested.

Meanwhile, the govt is constructing a brand new N13billion international terminal at the Enugu Airport.
so those passengers in line like sadines came to see the inuagral flight with their "korokoro eye" the ticketing attendance also came too to see with their "korokoro eyes" that is why they have no seat behind a glass wall to work from. So your excuse for this disgracefull building is that a better one is being built with more billions, how many billion was spent on this one? If the billions spent on this one is added to the billions meant to be spent on the other building, don't you think a start of the art airport will be under construction by now? Common sense is now a privelage.
