I'm not a catholic, i am disgusted by some of the it's actions in history but a denormination that renders more service and aid to the world than even the U.N deserves respect. While others spend that money on buildings and frevolous properties. |
Such rude,Uncultured, nasty, demented. Morally bankrupt, ghastly fellows...speaks to a large extent why i don't listen to their plonkish hogwash called music. |
Nigeria has the abilities and can tap from more renewable power sources like hydro, solar, wind, and even our convention gas. But nuclear is a capital NO!! When superpowers in nuclear energy like germany is running scared and closing all their nuclear power stations due to risk. I see no reason why nigeria will think to that direction. I NO WAN DIE O!! |
Prince andrew, the second son of queen elizabeth ii and 5th in line to the throne was almost arrested on monday by policemen guarding buckingham palace as he took a walk in the garden. Recently, the police has been under fire for incompetence as a week ago, two men were arrested in the state rooms of the palace after they jumped a fence and entered the palace. So when two policemen on patrol saw the prince walking the gardens they taught he was an intruder, royal insiders claim the policemen drew their weapons and commander the prince to go on his knees and identify himself, after the prince identified himself, the policemen were very embarrased and apologised. The london metropolitan police has issue and apology to the prince but insisit that the policemen did'nt draw their weapons. The queen was not present at buckingham palace when the incident occured as she is currently on vacation in her summer 80,000 acres palace, balmoral in scotland. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2415374/prince-andrew-challenged-police-buckingham-palace-duke-york-ordered-verify-identity-went-walk-gardens.html

Ex convict drums up support for president jonathan...hmmmm! Nigeria is disgusting. |
Afam4eva: So, how much did London use in the construction of olympic village? I don't think it took a large chunk of their budget. It seems Manchester may even have to spend more than London and Rio because most of their sports facilities are below par for the Olympics. They shouldn't think of using someof the sports arenas that they used for the commonwealth games. The olympics is a different ball game.london 2013 budget initailly was 2.4 billion dollars, at the end of the day, they spent 14.46 billion dollars. Manchester city council estimate their budget for an olympic bid to be 5.5 billion dollars. Rio 2016 budget is 14. 4 billion dollars. And from the thrend you can see cities spent tripple their budget. So for rio to have a starting budget of 14.4 billion. You know the city needs heavy work. Guess how much will be their closing budget. |
Afam4eva: Even London spent about $14.46 billion, how much more Manchester. Does Manchester now have more Infrastructure than London? Meanwhile, Rio has almost the same budget as London, so i don't get what you're saying.bear in mind that that was'nt london's initial budget but at the end it skyrocketed to this. The reason why london spent so much despite it's infastructure is because the olympic village was built at the outskirts of london, east london to be particular, a barren land. So it had to be built from scratch and tube lines connected there, it won't be same if manchester hosted because it has no barren lands. The stadium will be built in the city center and new tube lines would not be needed. Brazil has not finished a the olympic stadium but they are already hitting their budget, yet they still have to spen more money on transport, security, demolishing pavillars and compensating residents. Etc...let's watch and see. |
Afam4eva: Rio does. Pls don't because brazil an emerging economy and that just any city in a developed country can trounce it. Rio is ranked 31st in the list of cities with highest GDP while Manchester is nowhere to be found. I'm not saying Manchester is not capable of hosting, all i'm saying is, if they ever get awarded with the right then it can best be described as a miracle.there will be nothing miraculous about manchester winning the bid. For one, they won't be spending so much money on new infastructure, transport network. Hotels, and even security. Like rio is doing. It will be a walk over. Is it not funny that it is now that rio is spending over a billion dollars on CCTV camera's, police cars and command centers yet the IOC is still worried about security. All these aminities are on ground in manchester and money will only be spent of essential which won't cost a fortune and drive protestors into the streets like rio. |
Afam4eva: You didn't say so but i'm saying maybe the fact that they didn't have as much infrastructure as other cities marred their bid somehow. I think cities like Manchester should stick with hosting events like the commonwealth games or the "All European Games" if there's any compeition like that. Olympics is for the bigger boys and most cities that win the bid are either mega or global cities.i totally disgree with that premise. What makes them less capable of hosting an olympic? Manchester and rio which has better infastructure, lower crime rate.etc.. |
Afam4eva: And you made mention of Aberdeen having the largest GDP in the world and that is laughable. Aberdeen doesn't even come close to the top 50 while those cities i listed are somewhere in the top 20.well. That was a most silly mistake and i apologise. |
Afam4eva: It didn't have a better infrastructure than it's competitors. Manchester is just an above average city by every indices.where in my post did i argue that manchester has better infastructure than the other cities? I only said they had the infastructure and capabilities but could'nt make the case why they should be awarded. |
Afam4eva: You were of the opinion that since Edinburgh and Cardiff are capital ciities that they are better than those other cities that i listed...Aberdeen has the highest GDP in the world? Like seriously? I think you got your information here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_by_GDP and if you had played a close attention, you would have noticed that cities around the world were listed in an alphabetical order and Aberden came first followed by Abidjan. Does Abidjan have the second highest GDP in the world?i was not under the impression that the fact they are capital cities make them better or more capable at hosting. I based my belief on the fact that they are both rich and infastructurally stable cities. |
Afam4eva: It's a correlation of different factors. What worked for London in addition to the city being one of the greatest in the world is what you alluded to. That does not mean that Abakaliki will beat New York or Los Angeles if it presents a good case. You must have the infrastructure first and foremost before anything and the cities that contested this time around all had that and it now came to something very vital that made Tokyo win it.good. It's a combination of different factors so manchester lost both it's bid because it did'nt present a good case but it had the infastructure. |
Afam4eva: We're saying the same thing. I said London won because they presented a better case but i'm not aware of the details and it could be what you asserted.a good thing you've conceded. London won because the team that presented it's bid worked overtime not because it was somehow better than manchester. Sorry for the link but at least you got the point. |
Afam4eva: So what if it's the capital. Glasgow is the Lagos of Scotland and not even Edinburgh. That a city is a capital does not mean it's better than another city that's not a capital. You have to do away with that Nigerian mentality. Do you know that Chicago is the 3rd or 4th most important US city? How can you compare those Scottish and Welsh cities with Miami or Boston or Melbourne. These cities are global cities.what nigerian mentality? We are talking of wealth and capacity to host and olympics. And the fact is non of the city you mentioned are as rich as edinburgh. Aberdeen according to wikipedia is the richest city in the world by GDP. So drop that arguement. |
Afam4eva: London won the bid because they were more serious than others. These days US doesn't show enough commitment to wanting to host the Olympics else they New York would have gotten it over LOndon or Chicago over Rio. The cities that have won the bid tend to be more dedicated and present a better case than their competition.no need to argue too much. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/other-sports/olympics-2012/4618507.stm note the first reason. |
Afam4eva: Why do you think Britain lost the bid when they presented Manchester but won when they presented London?everybody knows that london would'nt have won the 2012 olympics games bid if not for lord sebastine coe. His bid focusing on young people as the future of the olympics and the conerstone of london 2012 won the day. |
Afam4eva: Edinburgh, Cardiff or Liverpool can host it but not when they're up against bigger and richer cities like Boston, Miami, Chicago, Melbourne, SHanghai etc. They also have to be up and doing financially which is very very critical.none of the cities you mentioned except maybe for shanghai is richer than edinburgh. Be reminded. Edingburgh is the capital of scotland. It's not just another britsih city. Same with cardiff which is the welsh capital. |
Gbawe.:this pic reminds me of mafia gangs i used to see in movies. Oyedepo is the mafia boss leading his boys...check out their suits, the only things missing are hats and cigars. May the GOD OF OYEDEPO forgive me if i've said anything wrong. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
baby-boy:does that make it less capable of hosting the games? Paris and new york lost the 2012 bid to london, does that mean they were less capable? |
Afam4eva: You're wrong. manchester hosted it some years back. 2014 belongs to Glasgow. Btw, the commonwealth games is not the same as the olympics.my mistake. So do you think edinburgh can't host an olympics? Or cardiff? Liverpool. Blackpool.etc...forget the commonwealth games, that's not an issue. |
Afam4eva: Abeg, na where be this? It's not like Britain had any choice than to present London cos no other city is Olympic material. It's just similar to the situation in Nigeria. It's not like in the US where over 20 cities are capable of hosting the olympics.ever heard of liverpool. Manchester. Edinburgh. Cardiff, glascow, blackpool,etc...by the way, manchester is hosting the 2014 commonwealth games. |
CFCfan: Spot on! Also, the youth unemployment rate is 40%funny how you and i were at each others neck with a knife a few days ago on one thread. Now we agree on something. The beauty of life!! Thank you. |
la furia: is anyone really surprise Tokyo won it? I wasn't because I knew it was going to be ZONED to the Asians. oh yes they voted but of course by lobbying deciding countries. since 2012, Madrid had bid for the Olympics but lost to Britain, brazil and now Tokyo. I bet u if UAE or Kuwait decide to bid for 2024 Olympic games against Madrid, Madrid will still lose. if no middle east nation bid in 2024, Madrid will get it if not till 2028.spain is bankrupt, even if madrid won, the citizens will revolt and demand it be taken back...in a country with over 20% unemployment, spending money on olympics is the last thing on their mind. |
It was always between tokyo and istanbul because madrid and indeed spain is bankrupt and can't host an olympic in the nearest future....i am happy tokyo won. I'm sure they will humble china who claim they had the best olympics ever. Even if they don't, it will be a draw. Japan is just too much, and china knows it. |

manny4life: Now I'm officially done with you, if you're not either thinking with your brains, then it's you're too slow to comprehend. You're asking where is the money? They can afford to rent trailers and trucks and have their goods delivered to the market, buyers and sellers that need the products have the money to transact business, it a poor minded fellow like you who's yarning dust here that thinks farmers are poor by default... what a load of bullocks. Even my aged grandmother in the village who owns three acres of plantation and palm trees has the money to export her groundnut oil to the North, continue acting like mugu... In your mind, farmers are poor.you just stink of idiocy. So this is the response i get for that well articulated rebottle. You are just drowning in foolishness but fighting to stay alive. What a waste of MB...gosh. I think we1e done here. |
I know some catholics who up till today don't like francis and the way he is running the vatican... Deep down, emeritus pope benedict is still their holy father. |
naptu2: Did I at any point say that tourists could walk up to any of the state houses (apart from State House Marina)?all this exchange boils down to the fact that the official residences of the nigerian presidency has never been open to the public. Maybe during the parliamentry days of tafawa balewa and azikiwe. But since then the institutions has been scrouded in secrecy. No matter how times change abroad, there is still provision for the people to be in touch with their government, unlike nigeria. |
manny4life: Usual rants from a small mind.what stupid boom do you speak of? You think what ever is being produced by a country is only exclusive to that country? If ranches in texas and califonia fail to produce, surely farms in mexico and south american countries will grow. How did farming in states like texas and califonia commercialize? The government! Governments and private buisness stomed farms and offered aggrements for buisness, this is were the old southern u.s government skeptisim of government stemed from. The farmers belived the government and big banks were coming to take over their farms. But when the government luminated them. They came to aggrements and massive commercialization began and couple with lincoln's great rail network accross america, produce was moved around the country and exported to europe at cheaper prices. During the american civil war. Abraham lincoln warned the then british prime minister. Lord palmerston that if britain interfered in the civil war, america will cut off cheap cotton and corn exports to britain. That was a major deterent that prevented the british from supporting and even funding the confedrates. Plonker! |
manny4life: Usual rants from a small mind.you keep vomiting rubbish, hoping it makes sense...you wants nigerian farmers to rent cooling system, where is the money? Even when they farm normally and spend money on storage, transportation to markets, plus rot. They end up loosing rather than gaining. Money for the next planting season is a problem and you expect them to have money to rent or buy cooling systems? Let me luminate your dull mind on how the u.s commercialized it's agriculture and sustain it till date. The u.s agricultural sector is massively subsidised. Have you heard of the farm bills? Government over the years invested heavily in private farms and when they profits grew, the back out of the buisness and took their cut, they also introduced special incentives for banks who lend to farms. Today idaho is the largest producer of potatoes in the u.s and it's number 1 customer is the u.s government which uses the potatoes to feed kids in public school up and down the country and at the same ime patronizing the local idahoan economy. Government does'nt do everything but government serves as a lever to pull buisness up so when they reach their prime, it is handed over to competent private hands to handle. Only a foolish person like you will expect a farmer who works with hoes and make tipid profits to buy a tractor to commercialize his farm. |
manny4life: God forbid people like you rule over us, where the people lack vision, they perish. Keep waiting on govt to build cooling vans for you, meanwhile people like me are gearing up in building commercial freezer units less than 3miles into the airport + an export processing/packing zone.ignorance. How many nigerian farmers can afford a cooling van? How much do they already spend to grow their crops and store them in unfavourable conditions. Meaning you can afford, does that mean others can. You just speak like someone you sees nothing beynd himself. You are ignorant to the role the u.s government played in commercializing agriculture in the u.s especially in a state that idaho so i will not engage you in a discussion you know nothing about. |
