IBADAN BOOK CLUB GREETS EX-OYO STATE LIBRARIAN ADEBOLA AKINLOLU ON 61ST BIRTHDAY

The Coordinator of Ibadan Book Club, Mrs. Odunyemi Ayobami has early this morning sent a felicitation message to the Grand Matron of the Club and Ex-Oyo State Librarian, Adebola Akinlolu to commemorate her 61st birthday.

While describing the new age as a landmark, Ibadan Book Club in a congratulatory message released on Sunday urged the celebrant to sustain her humanitarian gestures.

The Message partly reads, “As you celebrate your 61st birthday today, we pray that God will increase you in good health, wisdom and knowledge to enable you render more service to humanity. Life is never what you expect it to be. It is your birthday and we can’t even imagine the fate of Ibadan Book Club today if we hadn’t met you.”

“May this birthday bring you a lot of blessings and good health. We wish you all the happiness and love in the world. Thank you for being a part of our lives. Have a great birthday.”

Ibadan book club finally joined family members, friends and associates of the celebrant in celebrating the remarkable and robust accomplishments of her grand patron in all facets of life.

NEW YEAR: SYNW GREETS NIGERIANS

The President of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW), Mr. Wole Adedoyin, has sent greetings and felicitations to Nigerians on the joyous occasion of the celebration of the New Year, 2023.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the President of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) congratulated the people for their steadfastness, faith and support at these challenging times.
The Statement urged Nigerians to reflect and draw on the lessons learned in the preceding year in all aspects of human endeavours and continue to work for peace and unity of the country as the New Year begins.
The literary body expressed optimism that the year 2023 would be a bright and prosperous one for all Nigerians.
SYNW finally wished year 2023 ushers in a period of plenty, equity and well-being for everyone.

SOCIETY OF YOUNG NIGERIAN WRITERS PROMISES TO MAKE 2023 EVENTFUL

The President of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW), Mr. Wole Adedoyin, has promised to make 2023 eventful, saying the group would be coming up with several literary projects in order to develop the talents of young writers. Two of the projects are establishment of Ulli Beier Society and JP Clark Society.

Adedoyin stated this in a release issued on Sunday on the literary organization’s vision for the year 2023.

Speaking further, Adedoyin said, “We achieved a lot last year. We established over five new book clubs; several of our members got published, with many of them getting published for the first time.”

“This year, however, promises to be more eventful than last year”

“We are ready to establish more book clubs, establish two literary societies, Ulli Beier Society and JP Clark Society and organize a lot of poetry and literary competitions, as this will help develop the creativity in our members”.

“Currently, the book clubs under the management of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) are: Ilorin Book Club, Ekiti Book Club, Abeokuta Book Club, Ilesha Book Club, Iseyin Book Club, Edo Book Club, Arewa Book Club, Ife Book Club, Akure Book Club, Eko Book Club, Atiba Book Club, Ogbomosho Book Club, Osogbo Book Club and Ibadan Book Club.

“However, we cannot do it alone without the support of well-to-do members of the public and even corporate organizations, who we want to partner with in order to develop literature in the country,” Adedoyin who is also the President of the Nigeria Chapter of the International Writers Association (IWA).

Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW), is an umbrella organisation that was founded to promote creative writing and literary arts among writers based in Nigeria between the ages of 10 and 40. It was founded in 2010 at the former house of the Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka at the University of Ibadan. It was formerly known as the World of Poets and Literary Society.

Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) is a member of the International Authors Forum (IAF). It has also collaborated with different international organizations like the Alliance Francaise (Nigeria), 100 Thousand Poets for Change, Woman Scream International Poetry and Arts Festival, International Women Writing Guild, International Writers Association, and International Human Rights Art Festival (IHRAF).

In 2019, Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) was duly acknowledged and mentioned in a book titled “TEEN LIVES AROUND THE WORLD: A GLOBAL ENCYCLOPEDIA (2 VOLUMES)” edited by Karen Wells. The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) was described as the only active young writers’ body in Nigeria.

SYNW CONGRATULATES CHIMAMANDA ADICHIE ON CHIEFTAINCY TITLE CONFERMENT
The President of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW), Wole Adedoyin has congratulated award winning writer, Chimamanda Adichie on her chieftaincy title conferment by the traditional ruler of her community, Abba in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Leonard Nwankwo Eze.

The conferment of the title of Odeluwa (Writer for the world) on Chimamanda Adichie formed part of the royal father’s Ofala Eze-Abba 22, which also coincided with his 45th Coronation Anniversary and his 80th birthday.

In a congratulatory message issued by Wole Adedoyin described the chieftaincy title for Chimamanda Adichie as well deserved.
The message noted that Chimamanda Adichie has not only contribute to the development of her community, but also to literature and intellectual development.
The congratulatory message observed further that the recognition of Chimamanda Adichie as Odeluwa (Writer for the world) of Abba kingdom will spur her to continue to contribute to the development of her people.

2022 XMAS CELEBRATION: SYNW GREETS CHRISTIANS
Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has enjoined Christians to use the occasion of Christmas to renew love and affection to one another.
SYNW in its Christmas message said that love is the essence of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, whose life epitomises peace, sacrifice, tolerance and mercy.
SYNW in a Christmas message signed by its President, Wole Adedoyin said it is hoped that the gift of love and great joy which are the hallmark of Christmas, will envelope our hearts this season and in years to come.
The message further read “As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ today, there is no conceivable alternative for our Christian brothers and sisters, other than renew their minds towards living the life Jesus Christ lived, while on earth. In the midst of the merriment, we should reflect on the ideals He preached and practiced, which are love, peace and tolerance.

“Just as his birth was heralded with joy, we should continually be joyful, despite our challenges, hopeful for a more prosperous nation.”

SYNW finally wished the Christian faithful a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.”

BOOK PROJECT: LAST REMINDER

It was agreed that Writers who were at the Djibouti Conference or joined the event online should send Poems, Short Stories or Travelogues about their experience for a Book Collection which will be presented to the Government of Djibouti in appreciation of the warm reception accorded to us in Djibouti.

OSOGBO BOOK CLUB APPOINTS NIKEAGBEJA ADESANYA AS COORDINATOR
Osogbo Book Club, the brain child of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has appointed a new Coordinator.
In a release dated 24th December, 2022, the National Executive Committee led by Wole Adedoyin appointed Mrs. Nikeagbeja Adesanya as the Coordinator of the Club.
According to the release, the decision to appoint Mrs. Nikeagbeja Adesanya was reached by the NEC of the Society upon the need to have competent and knowledgeable reading advocate like Mrs. Nikeagbeja Adesanya.

Adesanya’s appointment is based on merit, experience and keen interest in promoting reading culture in Osun State.

The release finally expressed that the team will be counting on the wealth of experience of Mrs. Nikeagbeja Adesanya in the continued efforts to develop reading culture in Osun State.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
Nikeagbeja Adesanya is a native of Ibodi, in Atakumosa West Local Government. She was born in Ode-Omu, both in Osun State of Nigeria. Mrs. Adesanya began her Primary School Education in Ode Omu and concluded it in Ilesa. She proceeded to St. Margaret's School, Oke-Ooye , IIesa for her Secondary School education. Nike Adesanya attended the then, Oyo State College of Education, Wesley College Campus, Elekuro Ibadan and concluded it at Ila Orangun, where she obtained Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).

Mrs. Adesanya further gained admission into the University of Ibadan, the Premier University, to Study Economics and Educational Management. After her study, she bagged a Masters Degree in Public Administration at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

She is a prolific and talented Creative writer. She has written and published many fiction and Story books reviewed and recommended by the Curriculum Development Departments of the Osun State Government.

Nikeagbeja Adesanya is also a Biographer of repute. Some of her published works are:

IBADAN BOOK CLUB APPOINTS OYIN-ADEJOBI OMOTOLANI SADIA PATRON

Ibadan Book Club (IBC) has appointed Mrs. Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia as its patron.

In a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Club, Ayobami Odunyemi and Hassanat Ayoade said the organization appointed the new patron considering her commitments and support to the growth and development of reading culture in Oyo state and the club in particular.

Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia is a Nigerian academic, publisher and author. She is one of the founders of the Polytechnic of Ibadan Writers Forum; a forum created in 2013 to hone and enhance the writing skills of up and coming writers within the Polytechnic of Ibadan community. The Forum, years back featured Rotimi Babatunde, winner of the 2012 Caine Prize for African writing with his book titled Bombay Republic as one of her guest writers.

Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia holds degrees in English and Mass Communication from the Prestigious University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State. She is currently an academic staff of The Polytechnic, Ibadan and the Governing Council Representative, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

As a talented and prolific author, Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia has written and published many literary books. She had been invited by different literary associations to give talks on issues bordering around publishing, creative writing and language development.

Also, apart from being an avid reader, Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia is an advocate of the reading culture.

Omotolani’s quest for scholarship is quite inspiring, as a number of her academic papers have been published in national and international journals. She had also taught in Kwara State University as an Adjunct Lecturer.

EKO BOOK CLUB TURNS ELEVEN, UNVEILS NEW LOGO

Eko Book Club, one of the book clubs of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has turned Eleven; and to signpost this milestone, the Club has launched a brand new logo.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Coordinator of the Club, Princess Faozat Modupeola Kalejaiye in Lagos on Thursday.

Princess Faozat Modupeola Kalejaiye disclosed that the new logo had been received with warmth and excitement among members and executives of the Club.

Explaining the reason for the new logo, Eko Book Club Coordinator, Princess Faozat Modupeola Kalejaiye emphasized that it was borne out of the need to communicate the club’s indisputable status as one of the major book stakeholders in Lagos; what it stands for; and its true identity, all of which drove the process of creating the new logo.

According to the statement, “Eko Book Club’s new logo is not only a new identity celebrating the club’s proud history in the last 11 years; we would like to thank all our members who have been with us over the past 11 years. It has been a tremendous journey of growth and success. We want to assure our members that we are excited and ready for the future. Our vision of taking reading culture to the nooks and crannies of Lagos state remains the same and we believe together we will accomplish great things.”

Eko Book Club (EBC) is an initiative of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW). It was founded in 2011 by the SYNW in order to contribute its own quota to the growth and development of Reading Culture in Lagos State.

In 2014, Eko Book Club held her first EKO Creative Writing Workshop in conjunction with the National Library of Nigeria (NLN) Lagos State Branch and recently held her first Fiction Writing Webinar where it hosted two prominent fiction writers; Gabriel Sunday Afolayan (current ANA Ondo State Chairman) and Albert Afeso Akanbi (pioneer coordinator of SYNW in Osun State) who gave brilliant presentations on the Fundamentals and Techniques of Fiction Writing.

IBADAN BOOK PRIZE: IBC TO AWARD AND RECOGNIZE DESERVING WRITERS

Ibadan Book Club, one of the book clubs of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) is to award and recognize deserving members and organizations for supporting the club in achieving its target and for their impact and contributions in promoting reading and writing culture in Oyo State.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Coordinator of the Club, Mrs. Ayobami Odunyemi in Ibadan on Tuesday.

According to her, the award was meant to encourage Ibadan Book Club members and appreciate other book stakeholders like the Oyo State Library Board, Oyo State Branch of the National Library of Nigeria, SUBEB, Oyo State Ministry of Education to mention but few.

The shortlisted recipients will be recognized during the 2022 edition of Ibadan Book Feast.

Since the beginning of this literary year, Ibadan Book Club has featured over twenty writers/Guest lecturers including Artists, interviewed over fifteen writers, collated a poetry anthology which is currently undergoing editing, it also held Ibadan Writers Conference.

FIRST LIE: HE SAID I ASKED FOR HIS SIGNATURE AND FULL NAME:
This is a cheap lie. He said I asked for his signature and full name but he didn’t mention what I wanted to use his signature and full names for. I challenge Bunyamin to show evidence via recorded medium or other means where I asked for such. What do I need Bunyamin’s signature for? Nothing. He did not even say why I requested for such. Bunyamin is a failure. He was just cooking up lies to nail me. I did not ask for such.
SECOND LIE: HE SAID I SAID I WOULD REMOVE HIM AS CHAIRMAN:
I never uttered these words to him in my life. I am just hearing this now. Bunyamin must show evidence to prove himself like I did with different exhibits. It’s a lie.
THIRD LIE: HE ALSO LIED THAT I WENT AHEAD TO FORM ANOTHER EXCO
I never did such a thing. I remembered that during ANA OSUN Election which he said brought him in as ANA Osun Chairman, Bunyamin brought Secondary School Certificate Leavers (students of his tutorial centre)and Undergraduates from University of Osun (100 and 200 level students) to come and vote in that election. As a representative from the national, I stopped it because many of them are not authors (Please see EXHIBIT 3). They did not have published works and many of them stayed in campuses. I called Bunyamin’s attention to the fact that those students were not eligible to vote considering the intellectual status of ANA. This was why the whole election resulted in consensus. I knew this action provoked Bunyamin. He thought I wanted to put some members of Osogbo Book Club who are published authors and graduates. Like I told him that ANA Osun can’t be parading secondary school leavers and undergraduates as ANA OSUN STATE EXECUTIVES. And I was glad that day that one of them openly said he was not an author (Please see EXHIBIT 3). At the end of the election exercise, myself and Bunyamin agreed to form a consensus team thereby nullifying the election process earlier held.
And Bunyamin should also remember that he once organized a shabby election which ANA President, Mr. Camillus Ukah nullified because I was not informed and invited as a representative of the National body. Which means that two elections were held which were nullified before agreeing on a consensus process?
RESIGNATION OF THE FIRST ANA OSUN SECRETARY – MR. SEGUN SOLOMON
It was because of Bunyamin’s bad leadership skills and corrupt practices that made Mr. Segun Solomon, the first Secretary under Bunyamin as Chairman, resign. Bunyamin did not say this in his reply to the petition written against him. Mr. Segun Solomon left a week after the election. We shouldn’t forget that same Mr. Solomon was the Secretary when the Caretaker Committee was formed.
RESIGNATION OF THE SECOND ANA OSUN SECRETARY – MR. TIMILEHIN GABRIEL OLAJUWON – EXHIBIT 1
When Mr. Segun Solomon resigned as Secretary, Bunyamin urged me not to send the list yet to the national because all the positions were not filled. When Mr. Solomon left we waited for like two months before Mr. Timilehin Gabriel Olajuwon was appointed for that position. It was me who talked to Mr. Timilehin to take the appointment. While Mr. Timilehin was appointed as Secretary, his friend also was appointed as Assistant Secretary (out of election proper). I felt sad when I read the response of Bunyamin, removing truths from his ill conceived response. It was Mr. Timilehin who accompanied Bunyamin to the Council of ANA Chairmen and Secretaries meeting held in March of this year where they were given a cheque of N107, 000 for this year YUSUF ALI ANA GRANT. A week after the Ilorin meeting, an EXCO meeting was held in Osogbo. Two days after the EXCO Meeting, Timilehin Gabriel tendered his resignation letter (See Exhibit 1) quoting bad leadership under the chairmanship of Bunyamin (Please read Exhibit 1).
FORMING A NEW TEAM (EXHIBIT 5)
When Mr. Timilehin left, his friend who was also the assistant secretary also left with him. Only four people remain in the EXCO. Bunyamin approached me to assist him in forming a full exco who are serious and published authors. That was how we collaboratively came up with the new EXCO List (EXHIBIT 5). It was listed in EXHIBIT 5 with the approval of Bunyamin I forwarded to Abuja for publication. I wondered how he now moves about accusing me of singlehandedly forming the team. It was between the two of us.
BUNYAMIN IS NOT AN AUTHOR
Lots of people till date do not know that Bunyamin is not an author. I personally kept this away from people. All I wanted then was to have a functioning and active ANA Osun. Without even knowing that he would eventually kill the same ANA Osun. In 2017 or thereabout, Bunyamin was appointed the Chairman of Osun State Young Writers Mentorship Scheme. It was Teen Authorship Scheme under Prof. Remi Raji, but Mallam Denja Abdulahi changed it to the Young Writers Mentorship Scheme. I was appointed national Secretary for both then. I inaugurated the Osun State Chapter of the Scheme during the leadership of Mr. Muriola Awosemo. Two years after inaugurating the scheme, not a single report, minutes of meetings came from Bunyamin who was then the Chairman of the Teen Authorship Committee. Bunyamin killed the Young Writers Mentorship Scheme in Osun till date. In summary, Bunyamin is not an author.
ENGR. TALIAT KOLA OLADIPO IS ALSO NOT AN AUTHOR
One thing I noticed earlier about Bunyamin apart from bringing secondary school certificate leavers and undergraduates for ANA elections, he also dragged lots of his friends who are not writers into ANA Executive. For example, Engr. Taliat Kola Oladipo. Mr. Taliat is not a writer. When we were arranging names, Bunyamin told me to put Mr. Taliat to the position of Vice Chairman which I rejected. Like I told him, since Bunyamin himself is not an author, it won’t be polite if we appoint a vice chairman who is also not an author. That is why I told him to use Mr. Bewaji, the current Acting Chairman who is a graduate of English, currently doing his Masters in OAU. He has published in different academic journals and is also an anthologized author. Bunyamin that day told me I raised a very good point.
LIES ABOUT ANA FACTIONS IN OSUN
THE PRO MAIWADA FACTION
This faction is led by Mr. Abiodun Oloyede and Mr. Muriola Awosemo. They are anti Camillus group. It was because of my staunch support for the current ANA President, Mr. Camillus Ukah I was dismissed from their group. Only me was publicly expelled from the chapter.
Till date, this faction holds their monthly readings under the same banner of ANA. They meet every month while Bunyamin, who belongs to the authentic ANA failed to organize monthly readings for one and half years.
It’s a cheap lie that Bunyamin is trying to pacify their faction. How can they associate with Bunyamin when they know is not a published writer and a newcomer in ANA Osun. Bunyamin has no literary structure in Osun State
FOR ONE AND HALF YEARS, BEN FAILED TO ORGANIZE A SINGLE READING
For one and half years Bunyamin failed to organize a single reading. I challenge him to publish any notice of monthly reading called by him. Photographs and videos of such reading should be sent to this platform.
MY INVOLVEMENT IN RESCUING ANA FROM DESTRUCTION
For over one and half years I was not invited for a single meeting/reading by my local chapter (ANA Osun). How can I say I belong to a local chapter without attending a single reading for over one year? As a national officer I should be attending my chapter’s monthly readings and paying my financial dues. When there are no readings, what should I do? Be sitting down and looking? Not at all.
COMPLAINTS OF ANA OSUN STATE EXCOS AND MEMBERS
There were numerous complaints of ANA Osun idleness on the part of Bunyamin (See EXHIBIT 2). Many of the EXCO told me they would go and join the pro Maiwada’s faction if nothing was done to salvage the situation. Some had already joined. That was when I summoned the Vice Chairman, Mr. Bewaji to call an emergency meeting which consisted of all ANA Osun members (Congress). The notice of the meeting was public. It was at that congress meeting that Bunyamin was removed and Mr. Bewaji became ANA Osun Acting Chairman. Since then, we’ve been having monthly readings and new members are joining. Earlier before the Congress removed Bunyamin (there was a minute and attendance of members to that effect). Petition was raised during the General Congress Meeting of ANA at the National and a petition also written to that effect.
The only reading ANA Osun held last year (November) (see EXHIBIT 6) https://anaosun..com/2021/11/images-from-ana-osun-november-reading.html?m=1 was organized by me. While the only reading organized this year (Also November) (See EXHIBIT 7) https://anaosun..com/2022/11/images-from-ana-osun-november-reading.html was last month organized by Mr. Bewaji led leadership of ANA Osun. I am using this opportunity to challenge Bunyamin to provide the link or evidence of readings held by him either last year or this year.
BUNYAMIN’S COMPLAINT ABOUT OSOGBO BOOK CLUB – EXHIBIT 2
Before Bunyamin led ANA Leadership there was Osogbo Book Club. Osogbo Book Club played a prominent role in the emergence of Bunyamin as ANA Osun Caretaker Chairman and his emergence later as Chairman. There is no way the history of this new ANA Osun leadership will be written without mentioning Osogbo Book Club. It was me who introduced Bunyamin to ANA President, Mr. Camillus Ukah. Back then, Bunyamin was not a regular member of ANA Osun. He only attended three ANA readings in his life when Mr. Muriola Awosemo was Chairman. His office was one of Osogbo Book Club’s reading venues. It was during one of Osogbo Book Club’s readings that I discussed ANA Osun issue with him and he said he was interested. I knew he was not even a writer then, but the struggle of reestablishing ANA Osun was my major concern.
After Bunyamin was made ANA Osun Chairman. I stopped Osogbo Book Club immediately. I explained this to ANA President, Mr. Camillus Ukah. I stopped the activities of Osogbo Book Club for over six month for ANA to pick. To our utmost surprise, for those six months that OBC was in suspension, Bunyamin did not organize a single reading. In 2021, Osogbo Book Club held seven readings which featured over 15 writers from Osun state. While in 2022, Osogbo Book Club held 3 readings which featured 6 writers. OBC started organizing her monthly readings back when Bunyamin failed to listen to us concerning ANA Osun monthly readings.
LIES ABOUT YUSUF ALI GRANT – EXHIBIT 8
From a reliable source, Bunyamin has spent time with Yusuf Ali Grant. The programme he is putting up now is just a charade. He was given the money since March, why is that it’s now he is putting up a shabby programme. LIES ABOUT WHATSAPP GROUP
I can’t remove Bunyamin if he does not constitute nuisance to the entire platform. Before the crisis, we were all one. But later some of us on the platform suspected that Bunyamin was adding unknown faces who were not members of ANA Osun. They are not even writers not to talk of ANA Osun friends. This unknown faces constituted nuisance and disturbing the unity and peace of the platform we were once enjoying. They started throwing junks and writing all sorts of things on the platform. Like sharing political news, irrelevant items etc. I had to call Bunyamin’s attention to the incident but instead of him to take action, he was never bordered. Since nobody has volunteered to come forward and sanitized the whatsapp group. I took it over myself.
Then later, Bunyamin started removing those who were not aligning with him. Not only on ANA Platforms but other whatsapp platform in which Bunyamin was an admin. This was what I saw that quickly made me to remove him as an Admin of the ANA Osun Chatroom. Bunyamin had also removed me and other ANA Osun members on other whatsapp groups too.
I was surprised when I saw that he eventually went ahead to create a new whatsapp group which he called ANA Osun Chatroom 2. The links of the new group was shared into the old whatsapp group with the expectation that lots of ANA Osun members on ANA Osun Chatroom would join his new group by clicking on the link thereby causing division and disunity among our members. I took a bold step by quickly removing him from the platform. Lots of ANA Osun members on the platform can testify to this. For peace and orderliness to reign on that platform, we had to remove him from the platform.
WHY I SHOULD PROTECT ANA OSUN
It was me who brought Bunyamin and introduced him to ANA President, Mr. Camillus Ukah. I recommended him for the Caretaker Committee. He later turned his back against me and started weaving lies. I can’t just sit down and watch him destroying the legacy of certain individuals. If I siddon dey look, seeing him destroying ANA Osun, then I did not do well to ANA. I suspended Osogbo Book Club activities for six solid months for ANA Osun to thrive but Bunyamin was killing our efforts. ANA made some of us who we are today in literary field through the support of people like Dr. Wale Okediran, Denja Abdulahi, Prof. Remi Raji etc.
Bunyamin is not an author. He was just fortunate to reap where he did not sow. Bunyamin has begged me so many times to cover his secret (See EXHIBIT 4).
MY POSITION
ANA Osun has suffered so much in the hands of Bunyamin. 90% of ANA Osun members are currently not with him. For one and half years, he failed to organize a single reading and also fail to account for the Yusuf Ali Grant. Since he also alleged that the list which the two of us sat down to prepare was tampered with, I will suggest such EXCO should be dissolved. And the fact that he is not up to the task.

MY MAJOR ANA @ 41 TAKE-AWAY
On the sidelines of the recently held ANA at 41 convention that took place in Abuja Nigeria at the beginning of the fall of 2022, legendary writers and pen warlords such as Prof kaluUka, Prof Ernest Emenyonu, Prof Akachi Ezeigbo, Denja Abdullahi and others took turns and time to advise young writers to be patient in their haste to be at the zenith of their writing careers. This very expensive, yet free and hard to get admonition arose from their cumulative years of experience in writing, publishing, and serving as either judges or panelists in literary competitions and other academic endeavors. Just as in writing, everything we do in life requires patience, humility and understanding, learning the ropes, and subjecting ourselves to the guidance of those who know, and we know that they know.
This session which was ably moderated by Prof Ushie Joseph of the University of Uyo, provided a great window for young writers to be advised on relationship management with fellow humans, the use of emotional intelligence, the power of studying the environment, and adjustment to climes if possible. Writers were advised to pen down their thoughts in carefully chosen words, the power of looking ‘again and again’ on drafts and manuscripts, the value of constant reviews, the importance of asking questions and thinking about the relevance of each sentence, paragraphs and even chapters. There are situations where editorial teams admonish would be authors to delete irrelevant pages and chapters from a yet to be published book or manuscript. As painful as this could, it is usually in the overall interest of the author to take such advise for quality assurance purpose.
One of the common trends observed during this very important session is the haste and hurriedness amongst young people to get their works published and, in the process, key ingredients of writings are left out. Though it is understandable for young people to want to get published, the panelists advised that just like someone preparing for WAEC or JAMB examinations, extensive study, gathering and sifting of research materials is key, primary sources of data collection analysis and referencing is also a major ingredient in quality finishing of books.
One major take-away from this session is that every facet of human endeavor has what I will refer to as the ‘yahoo yahoo’ component (which literally means getting rich quick through dubious means), a lot of young people want to get to the top of their career without following the due diligence and due process associated with the pen industry. You cannot be a permanent secretary in a ministry without climbing through the ladder of the civil service or having the requisite experience gathered over the years. You cannot be a professor or PhD holder in a university without the relevant publications and research work, just the way you cannot claim to be a certified medical doctor without going through the very rigorous training of a medical school and all the stress of practical and sleepless nights. There is no easy way to success. Life itself is a process.
One of the major highlights of this very enriching session was the opportunity it provided for young writers to ask pertinent questions, the quality of answers from the panelist was very enriching and encouraging as well. Common challenges such as finance, publishing, editorial work, getting quality mentors and access to research materials characterized the key issues that arose during this window. The no hold barred styled of this particular side event should be encouraged at subsequent convention to give room for young persons in the field of writing to get acquainted and brace up to the challenges of the pen profession and device means to surmount them all.
This is a session I wanted a second phase during the convention, and I cannot wait to take an advantageous position during the forthcoming ANA at 42 that will hopefully be hosted again in the beautiful city of Abuja come October 2023 where intellectuals from Nigeria, some African countries and parts of Europe and America will gather again to discuss key issues that affect us, our environment, the society, governance, and general humanity. Before then, I am taking a second and a third look into my forthcoming book towards ensuring that all identified common gaffes and literary loopholes are corrected, although it is practically impossible for us as humans to attain comprehensive perfection in all that we do. Kudos to ANA, Kudos to President Camillus Ukah whose kinetic and dynamic leadership has made ANA achieved so much within a very short time.

ANA ENDORSES ENDOWMENT OF TWO ADDITIONAL PRIZES
The National Secretariat of the Association of Nigerian Authors has approved the endowment of two Prizes:
1. ANA/CHUKWUEMEKA NWELUE PRIZE FOR IGBO LANGUAGE AND– N100,000
2. ANA/SBC OBIORA PRIZE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL WRITING – N100,000
Valued at one hundred thousand naira each, the prizes are sponsored by Dr. Onyeka Nwelue, the Director of James Currey Society and Assistant Professor at the University of Manipur, India, who is currently an Academic Visitor to the African Studies Center at the University of Oxford and Centre of African Studies in the University of Cambridge.
Both Prizes are made in the memory of the sponsor’s relatives who have passed on. The National Secretariat hereby calls on Nigerian authors to take advantage of these two prestigious prizes to which entries will be announced in the second quarter of 2023.

FASANMI, ISEYEMI, USMAN TO HEADLINE IBADAN BOOK CLUB NOVEMBER READING
Ibadan Book Club (IBC) has set aside November 26 to host three Ibadan based writers, Shina Fasanmi, Iseyemi Feyintola Rachael and Usman Ibrahim Taiwo in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
A statement issued by the Coordinator of the club, Ayobami Odunyemi said the event would take place at the Oyo State Library Board, Opposite Cocoa House, Ibadan by 12PM prompt.
Shina Fasanmi has a career that cuts across teaching, writing and journalism. He runs physical and online classes in Advanced Writing Skills, Creative Writing and English Language Proficiency. He is a Member of the Society for Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) and other professional certifications.
Fasanmi has a Diploma in Law, a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and a Master's degree in Mass Communication.

Iseyemi Feyintola Rachael is a graduate of University of Port Harcourt. She hails from Atiba LGA in Oyo state but was born and bred in Port Harcourt. She is a teacher, writer, editor and academic.

Feyintola is the author of 'Debris' which was published earlier this year. She is married and blessed with a son.

Usman Ibrahim Taiwo is a 21-year-old national and international poet, essayist, content writer, librarian, and libertarian. He is an approaching publisher and author in the next-generational publishing field. He is an international contestant and an approaching political scientist. He is one of the selected frontiers person participants of the first UIDLC Aspire Symposium, 2021. He is also a distinguished participant and prize winner at the first UIDLC Aspire Symposium, in 2021.

He is a member of African Liberty, Teen Lit Journals, and Poets In Nigeria (PIN). He is a prolific writer. He had publications, both locally and globally. Some of his publications are Life, Stress Rules, (available on Amazon), etc. and more are approaching different publishing platforms.

He currently studies Information Science at the University of Ibadan.
He had and continues to win many awards, prizes, and recommendation letters since his secondary school days.

The upcoming lectures/book reading event promises to be an avenue for reading creative works such as poetry, fiction, book sales and signing, contacts with other readers and book writers in all corners of the Oyo State, the statement added.

RENASCENT AFRICA WRITERS WORLDVIEW AND UNFOLDING WORLD ORDER WAR: A SYNOPSIS

Writers are, in perception, the clear eyes and sharp ears of their Community; and in function, the golden voice of their People. To function, efficiently, as per definition, the writer’s worldview should be archetypic of the Community worldview. The writer sees the same thing the Community sees, but only sharper. The Writer communicates that vision back to validate what the Community sees, fuzzily, in more animated and happier language. Like in other world realms, the true African writer’s mind is animated by African worldview. Like in other realms, the African writers’ language is conveyor of African worldview. That many an African mind is alienated from African worldview and seeks a return to roots is the essence of the Woke Movement electrifying the African world of the early 21st Century. African Renascence knocks on the African and World doors. African ancestors had left notice to await a time like this. A time of inevitable transition from the subsisting world of Ugaazi; Age-of-childishness to incipient world of Uganyanwu; Age-of-enlightenment.

African civilization had put a high premium on worldviews and world systems. The Right-to-a-worldview is, for example, a Natural-right among the Igbo and other autochthonous African peoples. As I left for school in America, 1971, my father; Kafor Nwanyidi, an Ezedibia (‘Medicine-man’ would be a very a clumsy translation for the term describing true African thinker-healer-leader…Doctor), had said to me: “Dede, a si m gi gaa Alabeke gaa muta ihe Beke ma. A sighi m gi gaa pata Uwa ha. Uwa anyi na ha awughi!” Dede, I send you to the Whiteman’s country to learn what the Whiteman knows. I am not sending you to import their worldview. Their worldview and our worldview are different!”

This world expeditionary mandate of my father is the root of my interest and scholarship in African Cosmology. In addition, World Cosmologies. Very fruitful mandate! When the University of South Africa invited me, 2006, to discuss African Cosmology, I was delighted that my father’s Spirit would be pleased. When the African Scientific Community invited me, and elected me Chairman Future Earth, to help develop a new paradigm for World Science, 2015, I felt I was doing the right thing by my late father’s mandate. When the Library of Alexandria invited me, 2016, to address the issue of African Cosmology and Science, I became sure am on the path my father and ancestors set me. The path from Ugaazi, the world age-of-childishness to Uganyanwu, the world age-of-enlightenment.

However, as I moved with African Cosmology from Cape-to-Cairo, as the saying goes, Nigeria was asleep. Sleep induced by the catechismal education system designed by the ‘Lords-of-Ugaazi’ to keep Africans blind and enslaved. Too blinded to raise eyebrows or ask questions! One can sense my grand pleasure at being recognized, and, honored with their fellowship, by the Association of Nigeria Authors, ANA, on this grand occasion. An Association of Writers founded by Chinua Achebe can only be an Iroko association. I salute ANA!

As we speak, a war-of-worldviews and inherent cultures is afoot on Earth. In this year, 2022 AD, a War to determine World Order is unfolding before us. A war to maintain the current zero-sum world order or transit to a more natural and just world order. Many people cannot see it, but Africans should. The people driving it know…Eurasia know what they are doing, but don’t understand what they are doing. On the surface, it has started as shooting war between two Slavic countries of Ukraine and Russia. It has, also, started a technology and economic war between America and China. Africa is being pressed, by the narcissistic beneficiaries of the present zero-sum world order, to take sides in this unfolding global struggle. Africa should not be ambivalent. Whoever wants to maintain the current malignant world order, in which the Black Races are enslaved and mocked, is automatic enemy for Africa to fight. Africa should always bear this in mind and never be distracted from the mindset, if her children shall ever live free and respected. African writers should wake up and stay woke to what is unfolding before them. Humanity has never had so much knowledge to rethink the world. Unfortunately, some races do not believe in common humanity. Covid-19 is showing us why not.

Covi-19 has re-written the history and sociology of the world! Unfortunately, the current education system in the world does not educate people to learn broadly enough, and think broadly enough, to know and understand what is unfolding in the world around them. Covid-19 has revealed that those who do not believe in the common humanity of human beings do indeed have a case. They are different.

They suffered more Covid-19 than those that believe in common humanity. And have different finger architecture. Those, like European royalty, who have claimed to be Aryan (lords/nobles), while others are Anaryan (slaves/commoners) are indeed carriers of high dosages of the genes of Neanderthal man…Homo Neanderthalensis (the 2022 Nobel Prize for Medicine or Physiology was won for work done on the genome of Neanderthal man). In addition, they have the narcissistic, violent, mindset from that, otherwise, extinct hominin. They developed a zero-sum worldview of winners-and-losers.

The Neanderthal gene-carrying Aryans invaded India, thousands of years ago from their Mesopotamian homeland, and established the color-coded caste system in India. They invaded Europe, erased the Celtic European autochthons, and created the feudal Europe and lords and commoners. From Europe, they invaded the world and, by violence, established the present malignant color-coded world order that has the Black African in the ‘shithole’, as one of them with the archetypic finger calls it. Black Africans, for good or ill, have no Neanderthal genes.

Africans are pure Homo Sapiens sapiens. It is no wonder Africans developed the best worldview for dealing with holistic complexity…such as life-promoting Human Society. This is, apparently, why God and the ancestors have assigned the Black race the manifest destiny of guiding humanity from the malignant Homo Sapiens Neanderthal dominated age-of-childishness to the life-promoting Homo sapiens sapiens guided age-of-enlightenment. If the Black Race fail in this sacred duty, they stand a chance of being eternally damned. African writers, including ANA, should write that down and spread the word.

SYNW APPOINTS FAOZAT MODUPEOLA KALEJAIYE AS LAGOS STATE COORDINATOR

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has appointed Princess Faozat Modupeola Kalejaiye as its new Coordinator in Lagos State.

Adedoyin Wole, the National President of the Association made the disclosure in a statement in Ibadan.

According to the release, “Faozat’s appointment as Coordinator of the writers’ body in Lagos State is very important as she brings extensive experience and adds the necessary leadership and depth that will help us drive our short term goals of making Lagos State a reading state.

As SYNW Coordinator in Lagos State, Princess Faozat Modupeola Kalejaiye will oversee and coordinate the affairs of the Society, Eko Book Club and the campus branches of SYNW in Lagos State in line with the constitution of the Society.

Princess Faozat Modupeola Kalejaiye (née Olumegbon) was born in Lagos.She attended Fountain Primary School, Surulere and later went to Queen’s College, Yaba, Lagos and Caleb University,Imota, Lagos where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She is an Auditor by training and worked with a few firms, her auditing journey started with one of the big 4’s :Ernst and Young.

She is also a Poet, she believes poetry is an expression of feelings, emotions, life sorrows and life’s pleasures. Writing poems is one of her hobbies and that birthed the book she wrote Elan Vital (a collection of poems) which was launched in 2019 and approved by Lagos State Educational and Examination Board for JSS 3.

She is founder / Chief Executive of Modupe’s Kitchen ( An African/continental and exotic tropical drinks and desserts Cusine) enterprise. She believes that as the economy is shifting, you need to have legitimate and creative sources of extra income.

She is a member of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), she is also a member of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry(LCCI), student member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW), is an umbrella organisation that was founded to promote creative writing and literary arts among writers based in Nigeria between the ages of 10 and 40. It was founded in 2010 at the former house of the Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka at the University of Ibadan. It was formerly known as the World of Poets and Literary Society.

Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) is a member of the International Authors Forum (IAF). It has also collaborated with different international organizations like Alliance Francaise, Milton Society of Georgia (MSG), International Women Writing Guild (IWWG), 100 Thousand Poets for Change, Gibran National Museum (Lebanon) Woman Scream International Poetry and Arts Festival, and the International Human Rights Art Festival (IHRAF).

In 2019, Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) was duly acknowledged and mentioned in a book titled “TEEN LIVES AROUND THE WORLD: A GLOBAL ENCYCLOPEDIA (2 VOLUMES)” edited by Karen Wells. The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) was described as the only teen writers’ body in Nigeria.

SYNW provides a platform for young writers to meet and collaborate, enhance and hone their writing skills. SYNW also publishes, promotes and markets the works of its members.

CHILEKEZI, OYELERE TO HEADLINE ANA OSUN NOVEMBER READING

The Osun State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA Osun), has set aside 19th day of November, 2022 to host two writers, Mr. Obinna Chilekezi and Mr. Akinyemi Jelili Oyelere in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.

A statement signed by the Acting Chairman and Secretary of the association in the state, Mr. Odetayo Wasiu Omobewaji (current Vice Chairman) and Mr. Afeez Olagunju and made available to newsmen by the association’s State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Oladejo Haneef Olalekan said the event would take place at the association’s secretariat at No 20, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ibuaje Micro Finance Bank Building, Pepsi Cola, Area Osogbo, Osun State by 12PM prompt.
According to the statement, the Publicity Secretary’s report on the just concluded 41st International Convention of the association held at the national secretariat of the association will be presented to members. Also, the meeting would also discuss serious matters and ways of repositioning ANA Osun in terms of future activities and membership drive.
ANA Osun finally urged interested writers in the state of the virtue to partake in the November reading as it is open to the public.

OBINNA CHILEKEZI

Obinna Chilekezi is an Insurance Practitioner with background in Librarianship. Currently a PhD candidate at the Joseph Ayo Babalola University in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovations. His poems and stories have appeared in Newspapers, Journals and Anthologies. His published collections of poems are “Songs of a Stranger at the Smiling Coast” (Kraft Books), “My Gambian and Other Poems” (Libretto Press) and “Calligramme” (Emotion Books). He has just released a memoir on his one-month stay in his home town following a surgery in 2020, titled; “My Hospital Blues” which is presently on Amazon ( a book which reveals his discovery that the cause of agitation in his state and Igboland is bad governance from all the tiers of government).

In 2016, one of his insurance books won the African Insurance Organisation Book Award. He has travelled extensively across the West African sub-region and dreams of travelling too to other parts of the world.

AKINYEMI JELILI OYELERE


Akinyemi Jelili Oyelere hails from Imia hamlet, Kajola Local Government, Oke-Ogun Area, Oyo State, Nigeria. He is a Writer, Poet, Public Speaker, Passionate Volunteer, Technocrat Administrator, Development Expert, SDGs Advocate and Author of two books (Awakening Dreams and The Cave of a Thousand Demons).

Jelili is a member of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Oyo State Chapter, member of Ibadan Book Club (IBC), member of Family Support Initiative (FASI), and President of International African Writers' Association (IAWA), Nigerian Branch.

He is the Founder and Chairman of Awakening Dreams Foundation (ADF), a nongovernmental organization that caters for Tennagers and Youth. He is currently serving as a Project Manager at Gabriel Victoria Foundation in Osun State.

Jelili's works have been published in different countries. Also, he is an Award winning Poet. He has served as a Judge in different debates and speech contests.

Oyelere holds HND from The Polytechnic, Ibadan and presently serving Nigeria at National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as a Corps Member in Osun State. He is an avid learner and voracious reader who add value to himself on daily basis.

YOUNG WRITERS COMMISERATE WITH IZUNNA OKAFOR OVER FATHER’S DEATH

Members of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) have condoled with Izunna Okafor, SYNW National Secretary and the initiator of the annual Chinua Achebe Literary Festival following the death of his father, Mr. Josephat Okafor Udeze.

SYNW described Mr. Josephat Okafor Udeze’s death as painful and disheartening.

SYNW President, Wole Adedoyin, made this known in a condolence message he issued which was made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Friday, November 11, 2022.

SYNW prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed and encouraged Izunna Okafor to take solace in the fact that his father led a life worthy of emulation.

According to the Message, “We received the news of the demise of your beloved father, Mr. Josephat Okafor Udeze with sadness, but we are consoled by the fact that he lived a life of dedicated service to humanity. From our research, your father was a strong pillar in his community, a disciplinarian and would be missed by all those whose lives he affected in positive ways.

“We share in your sorrow and pains at this period and we pray that God will grant you and the family the courage to bear the loss, as we also pray for the repose of the soul of your departed father.

“On behalf of the entire members of SYNW, we mourn with you on the unfortunate demise of your beloved father,”

SYNW also regretted that the unfortunate incident happened just six days to the 2022 Chinua Achebe Literary Festival and Memorial Lecture, which Okafor and his team were already at the peak of its preparation before the sudden news of his father.

Recall that Okafor's father, Josephat Okafor Udeze, died on Thursday, November 11, 2022. He was aged 68, and died after a brief illness, in his hometown, Ebenator, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

SYNW finally prayed God to give Okafor’s family, friends, community and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
