For those planning to go through Turkish airline. I called the customer service.

They confirmed you will require a PCR COVID test done at most, 72 hours before your departure day. The below link confirms same: https://www.aa.com.tr/en/economy/turkish-airlines-to-start-requiring-pcr-submissions-as-of-dec-30/2089778

If you want to do the PCR test, you can go through the ncdc link below:

nitp.ncdc.gov.ng/on boarding/how-it-works

Amount: N50,400

Registration is pretty straightforward and simple. What I am waiting to confirm is the ease of getting the actual test done, and getting the result.

Hopefully, that will also go smoothly...

Hey people. Visa denied today at Abuja.

Generic reason for denial is lack of strong home ties. I have my study leave letter, company sponsorship letter with statements of account, 58% tuition scholarship, personal funding and my own property documents in my name, but VO never asked for my documents. Just spent 2 minutes and issued the blue letter.

Do you think it's feasible to still reapply and use the fast track method? My school resumes Aug 12th.

I have been scouting the nonimmigrant visa page for timeline before reapplying, but can't seem to find a link.
Pls share link/info with me so I don't waste another application fee if late already. Thanks

Don't bother interviewing after resumption date unless you are a fully funded PhD. Save your money and defer. Talking from experience or fill for abuja and interview there at least two early.

Okay thanks.
So, it's okay to fill and submit another DS-160, this time using Abuja as the appointment center?

I understand that stage can be confusing. It's normal, but also important you get it right. No exactly what you want to do..Then start from somewhere. Pls forget your certificate for now. This is the time to truly learn what you really want to do. See the future for your chosen path and start to align.
In my time, I read a biological science course in the university, but I took time to discover I really wanted to do business management, so I started reading books and online courses in business management. You can do same.
If you want to build some skills for free, you can go to coursera.org, udemy.com, edx.org, codecademy.com, github.com etc to learn any relevant skills for free.
Also use Google to find many information relevant to what you want to do.
All the best!

There are one million free courses on excel you can search out via Google.
I taught myself excel using same principle. Be ready to read and push yourself. That's all you need.
Also search for excel courses (depending on your level of advancement) on coursera, udemy and a host of other free online training sites.

Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management
sCM but putting in for CIWMM (Certified Institute of Warehousing and
Materials Management........... please enlighten me more. thanks

I think either of both courses is fine. It all depends on what career path you wish to follow. I however think a supply chain mgt course is wider in scope than that of warehousing and materials mgt. As a matter of fact, Whsing and materials mgt is a section of the entire SCM scope.
Again, it all depends on what career path you wish to follow.

Someone should please reply this post.

I think it's very possible with prayers. I read biochemistry and got my first job in logistics.
However, be willing to start from the bottom and work your way up the ladder. Many fresh graduate logistics and procurement jobs being advertised on local job sites.
You however need to read and develop yourself in that field. In my young career days, I had read many free Scm and Ops courses just to improve myself and they all added to my success during the exams. Truth is, you would come across unfamiliar terms and you don't want to start getting used to them during your exams or job interview.
I learnt for free on supplychainmanagement.in
nextlevelpurchasing.com
coursera.com (introduction to operations management course) etc.
Also Google some free courses.
Good enough, you have an accounting background, so adapting should be a bit easy for you.
Good luck!

Depending on your pocket and time availability, I think you can attempt the exams through the self study route and still do well. You only need to create out time to read...

Meanwhile, i have official CIPS course books available for sale at give-away price.
Only level 4 materials are available.
Below are the courses in the pack

1) Context of procurement and supply (About 239 pages)

2) Business needs in procurement and supply (about 195 pages)

3) Sourcing in procurement and supply (about 210 pages)

4) Negotiating and contracting in procurement and supply (About 220 pages)

5) Managing contracts and relationships in procurement and supply (about 215 pages)

If you are interested, pm me or call: 07

I have these much plastic crates for sale at give-away price. They have been proven to preserve tomatoes while transporting them, in the place of the raffia baskets, and they reduce the spoil rate while in-transit.

Kindly let me know if interested. (0). Pictures attached

@Olaore..: Honestly, that is exactly what i advice. The materials are so voluminous that doing the 5 modules together might not be easy (That is not to say there are no people that sat the 5 module at once and still performed well). I sat my exams twice. You can decide doing Procurement context and Business needs together (they have similar contents). Depending on the flexibility of the exam time table, you can also consider adding Sourcing to the previously mentioned 2, to make it 3, as these modules have similar content (Please check the exam timetable before doing this, as some guys had issues with this during the July '13 exams). You may do the last 2 (Contract & managing relationship) together (They also have similar contents).

Cheers

@Olaore:I used the self study route, which was quite okay for me, but for the challenges of having to cope with work and studies. Although i had to start my reading quite early (about 3-4 months before exams). Harley reed is quite expensive as at the last time i checked, so it was not an option for me. You might contact them to get their fee. But truth is, you can't substitute whatever training at Harley reeds with personal studies. Depending on your ability and schedule, you might want to decide whether to strictly face self study (early enough), or complement it with any of the rest options you mentioned.

@Rimzo: I would advice sincere evaluation of what career path you really )want to take. I understand you might be at the crossroad at the moment (We have, at some points, been there), but take a deep thoughts. Survey SCM generally. Google the topic. Read some SCM stuffs online to be sure this is what you really want to do. This thread is full of series of sites to gather info on SCM. I had been in the field before stumbling on this thread, and some of the links really helped me in making my final decision, as well as exams preparation. (www.supplychainmanagement.in, www.nextlevelpurchasing.com, intro to operations mgt course on coursera.org, supplymanagement.com etc).
Research the field and be sure that is what you really want to do.
But for me, SCM is a field to be. Organizational competition in this age is that of supply chain, and i think it's a way to consider.

Hi Guys,
For those of us wishing to sit for the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) 2014 exams, It may interest you to know that CIPS recently revised its curricular, and the first batch of Africa exams under the new curricular was written July and November 2013. With this, the old curricular exams would no longer be available; and the old textbook has automatically become obsolete. Just to let you know that i have the new (recently revised) qualification study pack (CIPS-profex recommended) for sale. Specifically, study packs for the Level 4 professional diploma in procurement and Supply. The textbooks also have underscore of important points for exams preparation.
The textbooks for sale are for the following modules:
-Contexts of procurement and supply
-Business needs in procurement and supply
-Sourcing in procurement and supply
-Negotiating and Contracting in procurement and supply
-Managing contracts and relationships in procurement and supply

Kindly let me know if you have any question(s).

As much as i would not support or castigate
'Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA; i detest the immaturity
of Ese Walter. For someone of her caliber, she
should understand she was neither raped nor
hypnotized. The guy simply approached her and she
accepted! So to me, the fuss of trying to encourage
others to speak up or clearing her conscience is
sheer blackmail and publicity-seeking. At first, against the advice of her friend, she went ahead to join the workforce. How on planet earth does she intend to convince that she didn't hatch a plan? To have "grown spiritually" to the point of accepting the offer of joining the workforce, she sure would have been able to descern between what is right or wrong -and resisted the devil by fleeing the scene at the request. If she was
convinced (as claimed) of her sins and indeed wanted to be free of guilt; she sure knows how to go
about it... I refuse to join your pity-party! #shithappens#
Career / Re: At 32yrs Continue Education Or Find A Business by t4thayour: 12:26pm On Nov 26, 2012
Let me say that both options are just fine. However, it depends on what exactly you want for yourself. I can't specifically ask you choose any for trade off. This is because at that age, money is key. You can't completely face education when you have other pressing demand (from the family etc just as you said earlier). I also would not want to suggest that you face biz squarely. The truth is: gone are those days when some "omo nna" dominated the business scene and we felt education was not necessary. The educated and highly skilled are now going into business, and giving the "omo nna's" a good chase, if not sending them out of biz. The business world needs some skills, networking, strategy etc to survive, which a qualitative education would put you at an advantage
I think you can consider running both. Do your biz and education along. Considering online education/part time education would not be bad. But for your choice of course (Mech Eng), i doubt if that would be feasible. Please note that gone are those days when we go to school and get certificates to get a good job! Education is to equip the mind for problem solving (that is my take). You seem to be business minded already. So i will advise u get a course that will help you improve yourself, career and business.
Goodluck!

Having Graduated with a 4.37 CGPA, i had taught in a evening UME/WAEC classes, did INEC registration and some other jab to gather some pay before getting a small paid job about a year ago.
I had invested about 200k i was able to gather in a recharge card business (thanks to God & the advice of Skanas, when i needed idea about the biz)
Now, i am earning close to what i get in my paid job, my source of income doubling, and the company growing
The challenge and what has got me going: God and dedication! Since the business is still young, the nurturing stage has been very demanding. I have to take over from my sales attendant (immediately i get back from work for her to close) and keep my customers satisfied. That is no easy task for a day, i must say!
But i am loving it, cos i could look in the face of my boss recently and threaten him with resignation if he complains too much. (Na becoz i get where i fit fall back to oooooo!)
Guys had once complained why i was not throwing all the effizy with my pay during service and Inec registration, but now, i am happy i took the right stem.
...and in the words of Skanas, "I am having itchy hands" already. Want to go make some money, pls!
