He was born on the 1st day of August, 1934, called to the Nigerian Bar in 1961, established his law firm, Enechi Onyia & Associate in Enugu State and was elevated to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 1995. Enechi Onyia OON, SAN, in acknowledgement of his contribution to the Nation, was also conferred with the National Honour of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON). Chief Cyril Enechi Onyia, SAN, OON, the Ohagwu of Obioma, the Omeluoha 1 of Enugu State was a disciplined and humble leader who led by example, an enigma, a towering personality – socio-political classic – a perfectionist. He was a great and illustrious son of the Igbo nation, who epitomized mankind’s unending desire to perfect the imperfections. Chief Enechi Onyia SAN is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. |
