Hello niralanders i need your help on this. Am a music producer i own a music studio in Onitsha Anambra state which in no distance time i will be opening a new branch in Abuja. I've done some good production and I've worked with some notable art in Nigeria such as Samsung J martins, New Chinyere Udoma Don Tom etc. Some many upcoming artist believe strongly in me some want me to promote them for some to manage and singed them. the pressure is some much. and i strongly believe that these guys record are worth releasing. am not ignorant of the fact that Recording and releasing music by a new and unknown artist can be a very risky and costly venture especially with the current state of the music industry. i have made up my mind in siting up a record label I've search online most of the information i got are not applicable in Nigeria market. so i need you guys to help me on these question.

Former BBA winner, Karen Igho will not let the guy who slapped him go unpunished as she says she’s doing everything she can to get justice.
“My team are on this. I’ve also called my lawyer. I know I have a good heart but I won’t let this go without fighting for justice because he might do it to someone else. Thank God he didn’t shoot me.”

Karen Igho was at the Smirnoff party last Friday to support a friend Denrele who hosted the party, but she got more than she bargained for as she left the party with a swollen after she got beaten by a security guard.

Karen poured her heart out to followers on Twitter about how ‘hurt and beaten’ she was; “Wow I got slapped at a smirnoff party by a security guard! Is it because I’m a woman?” she tweeted.

“He loaded his gun and put it to my face at the car park. Said he would shoot me if I didn’t give him money. I said I didn’t have. He slapped me!Now my face is swollen and I’m in pain!All I wanted to do was to go support my friend, Denrele who hosted the event. I feel abused and hurt. The slap sent me landing on the floor and hitting my head.”

Whatever Karen did or said to the security guard, no one deserves to be beaten like that, especially not a woman. Karen might have said some ugly words to the guard which is not unusual of some ladies who are generally rude to waiters, drivers, guards, but it is irresponsible of any man to raise his hand at a woman.

Reports say Tunde of the R&B group Styl Plus has left the group.
The R&B group had not been able to attain the success achieved by their debut album that contains songs that will be forever green in many hearts.
Despite the travails, the group has managed to stay together, releasing a song to debunk rumours of a break-up after four years of being together, each of the members singing lines that they remain faithful to the group, but the break-up has started as Tunde’s decision to leave will definitely leave a big hole in the group which naturally would encourage other members to try their luck in solo careers.
If the reports are anything to go by, Tunde has rebranded himself as NativeBoy, and has recorded several songs under his own record label B.A.T. Records.
As much as Tunde will be sorely missed if Shifi and Zeal decides to continue with the group, his departure won’t come as a big shock. Tunde won’t be the first member the group would lose. Lanre was lost to death in 1999, while Yemi left the group in 2002.
In 1999, the group which started in 1997 consisting of Tunde Akinsanmi, Shifi Emoefe, Yemi Akinwonmi, and Lanre Faneyi which was then called STYL lost a member, Lanre Faneyi who died, paving the way for Zeal Onyecheme to join, and the name of the group changed to STYL-Plus. Yemi left in 2002 and the remaining three members of the group launched the group’s label STYL-PLUS in 2003.

Tunde, Zeal, Shifi
Tunde, Shifi, and Zeal were dubbed Africa’s Boyz II Men after their first album Expressions, which featured several chart-toppers.
Tunde’s decision to go solo may not be unconnected to his unbridled passion for music which other members of the group may not share the way he’d have loved.
Sources who studied in the same university with members of the group who all studied at Federal University of Technology, Akure say Tunde is the one really passionate about music; Shifi played more of basketball, while Zeal was just a fine boy with a nice voice, although they were all members of the Rhema Campus fellowship choir.
Tunde may be tired of not working hard enough as some of their fans have suggested when asked why they think the group might have gone down, so to say.
Going solo may be the best thing for his career. Of course, if he had always wanted this, I believe he’s waited enough

Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson wept yesterday at the Federal Medical Centre Mortuary in Yenagoa where he went to inspect the bodies of Governor Patrick Yakowa, ex-National Security Adviser (NSA) Gen. Patrick Azazi and four others who died in Saturday’s helicopter crash.

Dickson, with whom were Service Chiefs and other notable personalities, described the incident as “sad, tragic and an irreparable loss” to the government and people of Kaduna and Bayelsa states.

Dickson expressed condolences to President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo. He described the crash as a monumental loss.

He declared a three-day mourning period during which flags will be flown at half mast.

Expressing the readiness of the state to collaborate with the various organs set up by the Federal Government and the Naval Command to unravel the mystery behind the crash, Dickson said the government would partner with the government and people of Kaduna State to ensure that the right thing is done.

Dickson described Yakowa as “a bridge builder”, who came to Bayelsa State on a visit to strengthen and deepen the bonds of brotherhood and unity, but ended up dying.Of the late Gen. Azazi, the governor said: “For our brother and leader, the the late General Andrew Owoye Azazi, the Chairman of the Bayelsa state Post Flood Management Committee inaugurated two weeks ago, and the Chairman-designate of the Bayelsa State Development and Investment Corporation (BDIC), I really have no word to express the profound sense of loss and tragedy that has befallen the state and our country.

“I am short of words. It is a very terrible tragedy. I pray that God should comfort the bereaved families and good people of Kaduna State.”

Mr. Obasanjo was head of ECOWAS Observer Mission to Ghana.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo may be a brash and outspoken person, but his utterances seem to have embarrassed international officials who have now vowed to take action.
Mr. Obasanjo, Head of the ECOWAS Observer Mission for the Ghanaian elections, had on Saturday, defended his recommendation of curtailing the “excesses of the (Ghanaian) media” in election coverage.
The former President was furious that media houses were announcing, live, approved results from polling units contrary to what obtains in Nigeria where election results are announced only at the headquarters of the electoral body.
However, some members of the political leadership of ECOWAS, at a review meeting on Sunday, stated their disapproval of Mr. Obasanjo’s utterances.
PREMIUM TIMES had reported how the draconian recommendation on curtailing the media contradicts the ECOWAS and other International Human Rights principles and laws.
Mr. Obasanjo questioned the Freedom of Information, FOI, available to the media saying he only believed in Right to Information; a similar position to the one he took as Nigerian President which made him refuse to sign the FOI bill into law.
A senior ECOWAS staff at the meeting said the review was “necessitated by the negative reaction General Obasanjo’s role in the observation mission has elicited and the potentials for such to undermine the credibility of ECOWAS in future observation missions.”
The official condemned the former Nigerian leader’s public statements.
“You know Obasanjo is a lose cannon. He becomes uncontrollable once bestowed with power.
“We regret this appointment and vowed never to have the man invited to head missions again,” he said.
The official, who did not want to be named because he was not authorised to speak, said ECOWAS was only fortunate to have an Observer Mission at an election of an advanced and stable democracy.
“Were it to be a volatile country, his disposition, recommendations and utterances are not only capable of truncating the electoral process, they are capable of jeopardising the security and safety of our 250 monitors mobilized from across the sub-region.
“Our meeting this evening has resolved, and this will be communicated to the political leadership of ECOWAS, that Chief Obasanjo should be saved the trouble of trying to give what he doesn’t have,” he said.
The final report of the ECOWAS mission on the Ghana elections is expected to be released in a few weeks.

These fake drinks can cause lung and liver cancer.
The Police and officials of two distilling companies on Monday raided the Cemetery Market in Aba, Abia and seized some adulterated drinks worth N1.5 million.
The drinks were being produced in the name of the two distilling companies.
The Sales Manager for East 1 Region of Intercontinental Distillers Ltd., Isaac Agbana, said that the adulteration had affected the companies’ sales.
Mr. Agbana said that the drinks were faked in the name of Intercontinental Distillers Ltd. and Grand Oak Ltd.
He said the brands are Seaman’s Schnapps, Chelsea Dry Gin, Squadron Dark Rum, Lords Dry Gin, Calypso, Bacchus, Eagle Majesty Aromatic Schnapps, Veleta Fruit Juice and Dark Sailor.
“A lot of traders in the market are faking ours products, using the genuine names, confusing the traders and consumers.
“The adulteration has affected the two companies’ sales, hence we reported to the Police and other relevant agencies to put an end to it.
“The suspects use blue food colour to cocotte the items for somebody to drink; you can imagine the effect it will have on someone’s body system.
“Apart from HIV, I don’t think there is another sickness that can kill as fast as cancer.
“Cancer can kill faster than HIV and if you take these fake products there are possibilities of having lung and liver cancer,’’ he said.
The Regional Manager East/South-South of Grand Oak Ltd., Elijah Apanishile, called for adequate legislation by the Federal Government to stop adulteration of products.
Mr. Apanishile commended the Police, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control and other law enforcement agencies in the fight against fake products.
A senior police officer in Aba Area Police Command, who preferred anonymity, said that five persons were arrested in connection with the incident.

At least 15 persons, including a woman suspected to be members of Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, were at the weekend arrested by the police in Enugu.
The police said the suspected MASSOB members were arrested following security reports that they were plotting to cause mayhem in the state, and they were arrested in Ezeagu Local Government Area while holding an alleged secret meeting.
According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu who confirmed the arrest, their arrest was as a “result of security report received that they were holding their meeting on how to strategize to perfect their operations.”
He said that investigation into the incident was already in progress, adding that the suspects were helping the police in their investigation and would soon appear in court.

Malaysian narcotics agents have foiled a Nigerian syndicate's bid to smuggle cocaine worth US$7.1 million hidden in coconut milk cans, a top police official said.

“International drug syndicates especially those led by Nigerian nationals have been found to be active in smuggling various types of drugs,’’ Noor Rashid Ibrahim, narcotics criminal investigation director said in a statement, AFP reports.

Acting on a tip-off from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, authorities found the drugs in a container at Port Klang, he said. It had arrived on a ship from Guyana last Monday.
Noor Rashid said the liquid drugs seized could produce about 76 kilos of cocaine when processed.

The seized container was filled with 980 cartons of cans containing coconut milk and pineapple cubes, he said.
Noor Rashid said upon investigation by the chemistry department, 16 cartons comprising 384 cans of coconut milk were found to be filled with drugs to avoid detection.

In Malaysia, the death penalty is mandatory for convicted drug traffickers.
No arrest was made but Noor Rashid said the drugs were bound for Mozambique via South Africa on another ship.

DIDIER DROGBA has opened the door to a shock Premier League return after requesting permission to join another club outside the transfer window.

FIFA said it was considering a request from the Shanghai Shenhua striker on the same day as Drogba’s former side Chelsea sacked manager Roberto Di Matteo.

A FIFA statement read: “We can confirm that the player, Didier Drogba, has submitted a request for authorisation to be registered outside an open registration period for a club on a loan basis.

“Our services are currently looking into the matter.”

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Google Inc rejected a request by the
White House on Friday to reconsider its decision to keep online a
controversial YouTube movie clip that has ignited anti-American
protests in the Middle East.

The Internet company said it was censoring the video in India and
Indonesia after blocking it on Wednesday in Egypt and Libya, where
U.S. embassies have been stormed by protestors enraged over
depiction of the Prophet Mohammad as a fraud and philanderer.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three other
Americans were killed in a fiery siege on the embassy in Benghazi.

Google said was further restricting the clip to comply with local law
rather than as a response to political pressure.

"We've restricted access to it in countries where it is illegal such as
India and Indonesia, as well as in Libya and Egypt, given the very
sensitive situations in these two countries," the company said. "This
approach is entirely consistent with principles we first laid out in
2007."

White House officials had asked Google earlier on Friday to
reconsider whether the video had violated YouTube's terms of
service. The guidelines can be viewed at http://www.youtube.
com/t/community_guidelines.

Google said on Wednesday that the video was within its guidelines.

U.S. authorities said on Friday that they were investigating whether
the film's producer, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, a 55-year old
Egyptian Coptic Christian living in Southern California, had violated
terms of his prison release. Basseley was convicted in 2010 for
bank fraud and released from prison on probation last June.

The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has condemned the Commissioner, Abia State Police Command, Ambrose Aisabor, over his recent comment about the group, saying he has no powers to stop them from operating.

Aisabor, had while addressing officers and men of Ndiegoro police division, during his maiden visit to the area, stated that no Nigerian law supported the existence of groups such as MASSOB and directed his men not to allow any member in any part of the state hoist Biafran flags or operate, as such was illegal.

However, the MASSOB Director of Information for Aba region, Sunny Okereafor, said the police commissioner had no powers to stop the activities of the organization in the state, including the hoisting of the flag.

While describing MASSOB as a non-violent group, which shouldn’t have been the major problem of the commissioner, Okereafor said that the flag is the symbol of the Igbo race, which the organization would continue to hoist not only in Abia State but in all Igbo territories.

He challenged Aisabor to channel his energy to fighting crimes such as kidnapping, child theft and trafficking, which he said are now assuming a higher proportion in Aba, the commercial hub of the state, and its environs.

Okereafor said it was unfortunate that it is only in Igboland where such directives were given, asking: “Have the police in the West stopped OPC from operating? Have they stopped Egbesu and other groups in the South-South from operating? Why MASSOB? “What’s this man up to?

“Aisabor is not the only police commissioner to have been posted to Abia State nor the only one in states where MASSOB exists, why is he giving directives that will not be in anybody’s interest?”

The MASSOB spokesman urged his members to remain calm in the face of the threat, advising them not to be intimidated into abandoning the cause for which many of them had paid the supreme price and which he said was the last hope of the Igbo man.
