For context, I'm trying to renew B1/B2 for my parents and the site is saying they need to select a date to appear for an interview even tho they qualify for dropbox.

I didn't have an invitation letter I attached the letter stating my plans to the optional column. There was an optional column for additional documents.

In which of the column did you attach your invitation letter and a letter stating what you and what you want to do in Canada? I also have a valid US visa. There are only 4 columns for document attachments. No columns for bank statement or other proof of fund, travel history etc. I am using the new application website

I do have a valid us visa, I applied first for trv last year to speak at a conference in Canada but by the time I received my passport back from the embassy the conference was over so ended up not travelling at all. However, that passport expired in August 2023 so I only had a one year visa valid till then. I renewed my passport this year and wanted to have the TRV just in case I have an impromptu need to travel to Canada so I applied again.

I only attached four documents, my passport, appointment letter from my organization and my valid us visa and a letter stating what I do and that I wanted to travel to see canada. I didn't attach bank statement because it wasn't requested for( Please attach as much as you think you need, I personally just decided not to 😜, everyone's case is different O).

Just wanted to share. This is my second time applying so I sincerely do not have a whole wealth of experience to share on Canada visa process as both times for me were quite simple a d straightforward.


Quick question if anyone knows before I send in my passport? Not sure the yellow paper I got for biometrics last year came back with my passport when I submitted, I can't find it. I did biometrics in Lagos, but plan on sending to Abuja. Will paying for Transmission fee cover for not attaching the yellow biometric slip? Thanks everyone.

Passport received at France embassy 28th
Passport picked up by UPS on the 4th of May. I got my passport yesterday. 30 days validity but 10days stay. I will be going to Netherlands for a conference for 7 days.

Were you able to eventually get an appointment? I'm in the same situation now, been looking for appointment for Tourist application at the VFS Lagos and nothing is coming up, but there's a date for other visa types in Lagos and Tourist is available in Abuja too.

I received an email that I requested for application for withdrawal on 25th January the same day I applied. I knew this was an error or glitch because the gcms note I requested in March showed eligibility passed. But I knew there was no time to address that so I just reapplied immediately the same day with same documents.

Second Application

Submitted same day I received withdrawal letter - 13th April 2022
Eligibility Review - 25th April 2022
Bvl and ppr- 27th April


Immediately I reapplied I sent many webforms and email notifying them of the withdrawal error. I sent both my formal application number and the new one.

I have a valid us visa and travel history. So the only documents I submitted was invitation letter stating I am presenting at a conference, valid us visa, employment letter and a copy of the book I am presenting on.

This email from Abuja indicates IRCC has received your application but they have not started processing it because of the small capacity to handle large volume of applications.

There are some applicants submitted 20th, 21st December but their eligibility has not started.

This week there will be rain of PPRs in Jesus' name.

I sent in my application for TRV 25th of January(visit, no family). Sent in additional docs through webform and email but got no reply. Just decided to try my luck and email these offices for updates.. Nairobi, London, Lagos, Abuja and Accra. I only got a reply from Abuja.

Eligibility hasn't started though. I am wondering if this means my application is being handled by Abuja or if they haven't even transferred to a VO yet. Though it's still early , but seeing some people in January get their eligibility started already and some ppr. Anybody with just tourist and no family reunification?

Thank you. Booked appointment in October but got a date for 2023. I applied for EA it was denied. I wrote to them concerning the fellowship program and it's importance to my work and I was asked to apply for an EA again close to the program date. So I applied again on the 7th of January, and it was approved.

Embassy was very light today, although came in early so not sure if that is why. I was the first person attended to. But unlike before very few people came in after me.


CO was very friendly. Just asked what I was going to do in US. I told him I was going for a 5 day program organized by a health fellowship I belong to.

He then asked what the program is about and if I was presenting. I told him what it is about and that I am just attending as a fellow and not presenting.

He asked what I do here in Nigeria. Dentist working in non profit sector.

He asked if I had been to US before for the same program. I said yes. He then asked who was sponsoring my trip. I told him it was fully sponsored by the fellowship.

Just wanted to drop this here to shine light on someone's day � as I have learnt a lot also here. All the best to everyone awaiting their interview.

Please quick question for a friend, he is not on Nairaland. He got a surge appointment for Lagos for January. But his appointment on CGI portal still shows November 2022. He recently corrected his DS160 and updated on the portal but the new Ds160 confirmation and appointment on portal still shows November. Will that reflect on his new appointment for January. Note that he only got an email confirmation of the January appointment. Is it ok if he just goes with the New DS160 in January?

I have a global convening for a Health Fellowship I belong to coming up in July in UK. The Institute is sponsoring everything, from ticket to feeding, transport, visa costs and I won't be bearing any personal cost. This is a 5 day convening. There is going to be a letter to support this of course. I currently work for a dental NGO which I founded(I am a dentist and I am passionate about impacting rural communities)and of course I am not paid and majorly provide free services in rural communities. I don't do any other salary paid job as most of my income comes from gifts from family, freelance consulting freelance writing and public speaking. Here are my questions?

1. I am planning to apply in April after my trip to US, is that enough time to do so? Or do I apply before my trip in April. I have been to UK once but that was in 2011 to visit my cousins.

2. I am a little confused as to whether to state employed or self employed since I am not being paid by my organization and explaining my income.

3. If I plan to extend my trip for 3 more days to visit friends, what would I need to do?

4. Do I need to get the tax clearance for the ngo also?

I got mine immediately, I just went to check the history of visa payment on my internet banking and it was there. Clicked it and printed it.

Has anyone ever paid their visa fee through GTB online (internet banking) platform? How long does it take before one gets the receipt number when paying through the online means? Is it actually after 3 PM on the following banking day?

Yeaa i was on the line and i saw u thou was denied pratically everyone after you on each window were denied.. based on your confidenceand profile i knew u were geeting it... i noticed the VO took time with you and remembered wen he ask are u health something and u replied... was happy for you sis... he was even a left handed guy... you know wen u on d line you try as much as possible to tap to people grace... nice one sis... i go again.....
