Buhari should just bare it in mind that come 2015 the APC will borrow a presidential candidate from the PDP as was usual in their past lives grin at least maybe he can vie for lg councillor and win, half bread is better than puff puff

Abia state as at now is a travesty, the govt there has to get their act together. NOI is from Delta state.

I still maintain that only the 3 states of Kano, Rivers & Lagos can survive without federal allocation in this country lets keep sentiments aside. This ugly situation is mostly due to the corrupt inefficiencies of the respective governors who cant attract investments to their states talk less of increase IGR through proper and efficient taxation of citizens/local businesses.

agbameta: What is your problem really? What part of the quote above you don't get or can not read and comprehend?

Its the government's job as stated in the quote above to make sure every plane in our airspace is fit to fly, we pay people to stick their noses inside the planes and their engines to make sure they are airworthy.

The plane did not crash because of any Act of God or Natural disaster, it crashed because of human error, it crashed because of lack of proper inspection and oversight.

We don't pay greedy and profit oriented private companies to say to us that their planes are OK, they are not in charge of our regulatory agencies and they don't make any rules, the government does and we pay people to look out for us and make sure we don't fly in aircofins.
we're on the same page, lets just hope this tragedy is not swept under the carpet after a few months
PoliticsRe: Stella Oduah Sells petrol And She called President Jonathan A Drunk by talktimi(m): 4:16am On Oct 10, 2013
agbameta: I'm not interested in your logical and emotional rant.

Associated Airline is not in charge and they can't not make up their own rules and follow when necessary, the minister and her agencies are in charge and with accidents happening and people dying, it means they are not in charge or doing their job.

If they are paying to look after kids and make sure nothing happens to them, but the kids decided to go wild, beat up and injure each other and even dying under your watch, it means you are not doing your job because you are in charge and not the kids.

Get a grip of that simple leadership concept.
at least we have established that my rant (?) is logical so what are we talking about again ? Lets wait for the accident investigation bureau to round up its work before hanging anybody. Plane crashes are always down to two things ; pilot error or mechanical fault. This plane hadnt flown since august due to mechanical problems, on the fateful day the plane was under repairs with the engineers even on board as they wanted to take it on a test flight - the ground crew at the airport cleared it for commercial flight knowing fully well that the plane wasnt sound enough but the right people must be punished. This is definitely a sad event but we must not use herd mentality or hatred for a person to come to our judgement. Thank you.

agbameta: So, sick patients dying in hospitals now means planes crashing all over the place and Nigerians needlessly dying is no big deal and the folks we put in charge to make sure this doesn't happen must not be held accountable.?

We pay them to make sure airline operators in the country follow stated rules, practices and procedures and if for whatever reason/s they are not following the same rules and procedures, it means people like this ministers are not doing their job, this is elementary and basic common sense.

We put people like her in charge with statutory laws and authority to police airline operators and make sure they follow stated rules and guidelines and with 7 deadly crashes within 2 years, it meas somebody is not doing their job and the buck stops with the person in charge.

Not that I was expecting any kind of sensible and thought provoking reasonings from your type because you people operate in the same mentally corrupt, incompetent and crass circle.
ol boy pls grow up. Through your various metamorphosis on nairaland you have always found it impossible to make a comment without insulting or attacking other nairalanders. In my previous post, i clearly stated those who i feel should be held responsible for this particular crash since it was greed on the part of the airline owners and negligence on the part of the ground crew at the airport. Definitely heads must roll but its the duty of the NCAA to swing the axe on its own members. So pls i am not in the mood for your insults today, if you have a better suggestion post it here for all to see.

Osahon Onaiwu is always thorough in his write ups. These are certainly some cans of worms even though people might want to discredit the primary source of this article due to their personal hatred of the igbo's (biafra). I always maintain never throw away the baby with the bath water for any reason whatsoever.

PoliticsRe: Stella Oduah Sells petrol And She called President Jonathan A Drunk by talktimi(m): 11:54am On Oct 09, 2013
This is just like saying the minister of health should resign anytime a patient dies in hospital. The question we should ask ourselves is why did Associated airlines accept passengers on that flight when the plane was still being serviced with the engineers even on board ? The airline and the ground crew who cleared that plane to lift passengers are the ones who should obviously face the music.

Iolo: While this is the dream....I struggle to see how it would work out...you have soo many state governments that would have to seize to exist if this happens. The best is that they would have to merge with others to stay viable...while this is the way forward for a long lasting peaceful Nigerian state, there's going to be too much opposition to this idea...

It's possible but would be a really slow process.
its actually quite easy just that our political class try so hard to show us how inept they are. This is across board and includes the self acclaimed "progressives". Definitely there has to be a reduction or merger of states in Nigeria as the only 3 viable states we have are Lagos, Rivers & Kano. These are actually the only states that can survive without federal allocation. Our blessed curse is just that oil money is just so easy and faster to get in billions of dollars meanwhile even without resource control, the fed govt can just issue out mining licenses to multinational corporations for our solid minerals of which we are richly blessed while just chilling out on royalties, its just so easy, im really scared but wondering why no one has thought about or implemented such a revenue generator of geometric proportions...
PoliticsRe: How National Dialogue Unsettled Opposition, Core North by talktimi(m): 11:57am On Oct 08, 2013
No need for disintegration at all. Lets practice true federalism by weakening power at the center, there must be resource control & a diversification from our dependence on crude oil alone when we are abundantly blessed with other agricultural and mineral resources. When states/regions are allowed to properly exploit their resources for their benefit, then the nation as a whole will move forward instead of just depending on oil and federal allocation.

PoliticsRe: Why Bola Tinubu Needs To Be The NEXT Nigerian President. He’s The FUTURE! by talktimi(m): 7:17am On Oct 08, 2013
Funny the one who says those opposed to Tinubu as president practice clannish politics is even the chief proponent of such brand of politics. Tinubu's sagacity as a politician is not in doubt but if you ask, 9 out of 10 people will say they dont want him as president because he is a thief the same way we all know Babangida, Abacha, Abiola & Gej are thieves. Anyways the presidency has been allocated to the north come 2015 in the APC same way its supposed to be for the PDP so a Tinubu presidency wont happen at least not anytime soon. Ps Fashola is a better choice any day.

A "revolution" isnt the way to go as it will obviously be hijacked by politicians on all sides which could also inevitably lead to another civil war. Most or all of you guys shouting revolution can not stand even the sight of blood talk less of seeing the corpses of your loved ones. A better option is to find out the names of your representatives both state and federal then petition them to give account of their stewardship. I dare say less than 3% of assembly members have any constituency project on ground even amongst the progressives. LETS RECALL OUR LAWMAKERS NOW.

I have always been a strong advocate of an at least 70% deduction in all financial emoluments accruable to our national assembly members and further more payment on part time or per sitting basis since being an NA member isnt a full time job. Besides what is hardship allowance ?
PoliticsRe: Omotosho Power Plant II To Be Commissioned By President Jonathan Today by talktimi(m): 8:59am On Oct 06, 2013
BayoAA: I will like to shed some light on this issue. I am directly involved in all these projects (Except Geregu) from inception to their present stages.

Firstly, The only person that does not deserve any credit per power projects is Yar Adua for forestalling these project for over 2 years.

Federal Power projects in Nigeria including NIPP is a brainchild of OBJ. He started all the phase one projects and completed them. This include Olorunsogo Phase I, Omotosho Phase I, Geregu 1. Upon seeing the progress of these projects he devised the NIPP Fast Track projects which are supposed to be completted as fast track project .....meaning as soon as possible to arrest power issue in Nigeria. The plant under this fast track project are Egbema, Gbarain, Calabar, Ihovbor (Benin), Sapele.
Omoku and Alaoji Plants were to compliment the fast track plants while Omotosho and Olorunsogo which were financed partly by the Chinese Government through the Chinese companies that built these plants is another way to built upon the fast track projects

Contracts were signed in 2006 for the fast track projects and Omoku and Alaoji Plant
Although contracts were signed in 2006, what we need to understand is that Turbines are not Tiger generators that you can just go and buy in the shop. Turbines are manufactured base on contract and order...meaning it is after signing the contract that Turbines will be manufactured. Can you imagine how long this will take. Months!!!! We are taking of about over 100000+ precision parts and 300Tonne (300000kg) of materials. All to be manufactured and coupled together.

By the time the machines were shipped to Nigeria, OBJ is almost a "Gonner" even though he tried to fight for a 3rd term.

When Yar Adua came to power, instead of him to continue this project, he started his probes which left all these machines in the port without proper preservation for over 2 years. Some were rotten (Especially the sensitive control systems and electrical panels) while some were even sold by some Nigerian officials.

GEJ moved in swiftly to arrest the power problem in Nigeria by releasing fund to complete these projects. He desErves the Kudo for the continuity in these projects and for funding it after the issues caused by Yar Adua's govt.

The contract for Omotosho II and Olorunsogo II were signed (MOU) in 2007.
dont let agbameta catch you for using your insider position to explain things to us & especially for telling us to give some of the credit of these wonderful successes to Gej. You deY find trouble o, as far as he is concerned even Tinubu, Usman dan Fodio & king Jaja of Opobo deserve more commendation than Gej for the completion of these projects. Its just a friendly advice sha.

Ok, to avoid agbameta's koboko, lets give all congratulations to Lord Lugard for joining this country together in the first place, we have to scold Gej severely for observing that govt is a continuum & also get OBJ to come and commission this and other power plants even those to be completed by the next administration.
