Eziachi: Divide the population/viewing figure in Zambia against what they are charged and then do the same for Nigeria and thell me who is paying more?
How many Nigerian taxpayer knew in advance that NTA is not going to show the games until yesterday? NTA belong to the public and its their duty to take such a public service very serious in advance or at least warn the general public ahead? Private tv stations can do what they like, even so, they owe it to their viewing public if they are to negate inn showing the games a subscriber thought he has paid to watch.
BON/NTA/Govt owe it to Nigerian public to broadcast the game as a public service or at least give the courtesy of an well advance warning.
if you didn't know the matches weren't going to be broadcast live in Nigeria, then you obviously spend more time watching papa ajasco than watching the news so stop blaming BON or anybody because they owe you nothing. Nta, ait, channels, silverbird etc are all free to air channels so and thrs no way they could have made any profit if they pool together €4.5 million which would have been a waste of time and finances, if you are a businessman you will understand better. BON which is an association of all broadcasters in Nigeria actually adviced the federal govt against even subsidising the cost of the broadcast right so pls do your research well. I support this action to the fullest, no south african or any other national has the right to exploit me I don't know about you

thelastPope: it isn't about RCCG. It is about the general attitude of Lagosians to noise. I had a similar problem with a mosque some years back. It almost resulted in a serious clash and I was ready, believe me! What irked me about the mosque own is that they use metal loud speakers with those sharp sounds and they start at 5 o'clock in the morning when the sleep is sweetest. It is worse when you have a baby in the house. White garment churches also like to use metal loud speakers. The whole attitude to noise is terrible.
I know there's a law against disturbing the peace, I'll search for the particular section and post it here. The problem most people have is if they complain, they'll be termed witches and wizards I know a church that actually boasted that people had tried to uproot them from their present location but with prayers, the people were silenced all because of this same noise pollution. I will suggest a dialogue with the resident pastor and if it doesn't yield any fruit, the police should be involved. We should consider that woman is in the twilight of her life and the church with their actions are only trying to hasten her death. Even the oyinbo people we copy do not set speakers outside to disturb their neighbors

bennyraz: getting the job done is the most important thing even if the play isn't good. Amodu did just that. The only problem we had was, Amodu in his style, sits quitely on the coach's bench and start to chew kolanut.. He would sit all through the match and We never wanted this. In fact, i expected Amokachi to pass out instruction yesterday but he kept mute.. Atleast we know Amokachi is a football pundit or didn't he see what his boys were playing? Or was the syndrome of easy to talk hard to do working against him?
my brother, we shall never understand the politics and drama going on amongst the technical crew. When Amokachi was the coach of the home eagles just a few years back, we saw lots of beautiful attacking football with lots of goals but now it seems he's waiting for oga to fall so he can take over. bennyraz: blame nff for sacking siasia and bringing in keshi, maybe after this tourney, oliseh will take over but me wants Shuaibu Amodu grin
naa, I can't really blame the nff in this case, they actually hesitated to fire Siasia but oversabi Nigerians and sports journalists stampeded them into sacking the man and bringing in Keshi which brought us back to square one.
On paper Oliseh would have been a better/best option since he's the only coach with a uefa license but we haven't really seen him in action, he should try managing a clubside especially in a sane climate like south africa then we can assess him holistically.
Amodu ? At least he got the job done even though the football wasn't pretty.

bennyraz: @pelezico! This attitude you potray here is that of a typical Nigerian! suffering and smiling and dying in Silence.. Wth! We need to liberate ourselves from all this myopic mentality! When we see something wrong, we say it, we fight it! That's the only way Nigeria will progress in all ramification! And how is my criticism not constructive? Keshi knows if he doesn't deliver the Trophy or at worst second position, he would loose his Job.. You mentioned Moses? Fine! I think keshi should tell us why he was not on? There was no dribbler on pitch! Musa dribble weren't clean but atleast we managed some of his moves.. And again, i wish yobo see's this! Osaze has said yobo doesn't deserve the captain handband, was he not right? Didn't you see the captain of bukinafaso?
moses had a slight knock/injury in training that's why he didn't play, didn't watch the 2nd half because I was on the road but introducing defensive players and a slight change in formation would have soaked up the burkinabe pressure for that final 15/20 minutes + extra time. I still rate Siasia higher than Keshi anyday sha, his tactics would have ensured more goals for Nigeria.

PoliticsRe: Obi Promises N5m For Information On Bodies In Ezu River by talktimi(m): 10:55am On Jan 21, 2013
A lot of people said it here, the police coroner should conduct an autopsy & forensic investigation.
Check the bodies for strange marks/injuries that might be present in all of them in similar places.
The police across all states where the river flows through will have to be involved in the investigation, I'm afraid this is not just an Anambra/Enugu state issue again so the IG and SSS have to be involved now.
Only a fool will say Gov Obi's N5 million reward for information is a wrong move, their story would be different if their family members were amongst the dead. The governor should even be commended for such action and let's pray it yields positive fruits.

GARRI (x7):
So he didn't commission a single project when he was a governor!!!

What a shame!!!

And most of the projects you claim he started were actually started by Alams...
I guess wherever you're from high capital projects are completed under 18 months especially in an extremely difficult terrain like Bayelsa has which is not just a matter of sand filling and erecting structures gbam. I also guess wherever you come from, government is not a continuum but its all good, different strokes for different folks.
Since you have already constituted yourself a judge; jury and executioner in order to hang president Jonathan, let's agree to disagree.
- Jonathan didn't do ANYTHING at all either as a deputy governor or governor.
- president Jonathan is a retardeen.
- all governors apart from Fashola are clueless and retardeens.
So pls have a field day castigating and crucifying him. Thank you very much

I was able to deal with them easily because I acted Nigerian and tried to avoid too much English language. Just stop when they ask you to, and be polite to them. This two stop and search cost me N15k, for doing nothing.
15k ke ? It seems you were still calculating in dollars. I once gave a police man 4oo naira out of the 18k he wanted to extort from me. Next time keep smaller change in your car just in case the "boys" need something. Highest 5h or 1k kpere, tell them you'll see them later

- is it the job of the deputy governor to award contracts ?
- all contracts in bayelsa state went through the table of ex governor alamieseigha and NEVER through goodluck's table. Alams & his cousin Abel Ebifemowei where the only powerful men in bayelsa state and contract awards gravitated between the two.
- a year and half in office saw the linking of inner city roads across bayelsa state, GEJ started ;
- the Okaka estate
- the new yenagoa gateway road
- the bayelsa state secretariat annex
- designed and planned the residential estate along Isaac Boro exp rd
- started the construction of the tower hotel in yenagoa
- fast tracked the development and construction of infrastructure in the niger delta university
- started the construction of a general hospital now teaching hospital in Otuoke/Ogbia lga etc
Bear in mind he practically had to start from scratch since yenagoa the capital was nothing to write home about.
Its quite unfortunate that you derive pleasure in insulting such a "nice guy" and I'm also not an advocate for anybody but when you're in an argument, its advisable to state facts and not sentiments. Thank you

Eko Ile: This is how people make excuse for GEJ. The man's was a deputy governor, a governor, a vice resident and the current president, yet you can not point to one thing the man has achieved in any of these capacities and what present and future vision of his do we have on the table? You are basically indicting him with your argument and making GARRI's point for him.
how does one make excuses on facts ? I asked Garri some questions and its left for him to answer them in all honesty or ignore them shikena.
PoliticsRe: What Have Niger Delta States Achieved So Far? by talktimi(m): 7:37am On Jan 20, 2013
Eko Ile: That's a lie, the 2006 census number for Lagos state is 9+ million which truly is twice more than that, but let's stick to 9 million.

Now

Rivers 5 million

Lagos 9 million

The topic here is what the delta states have achieved so far. So based on the fact that Lagos has (For the sake of argument) 9 million and Rivers 5 million

I'll ask you again, list what the 5 million people of rivers state are getting for the huge budget. The budget for 2013 is half a trillion and there is nothing on their drawing board to consume that huge number for just 5 million people.
nothing on the drawing board, are you serious ? And when did you have access to the very empty drawing board ? Mr Eko Ile I know you hate Jonathan, the niger delta governors and also by extension the people of the niger delta but pls concentrate on the lagos govt you know about and work for instead of making ridiculous claims here. Have you even been to Rivers state before sef ?
PoliticsRe: What Have Niger Delta States Achieved So Far? by talktimi(m): 7:31am On Jan 20, 2013
GARRI (x7):
1. GEJ was Deputy Governor and later Governor of Bayelsa state. During his tenure he achieved NOTHING, just like the present crop of leaders in the ND.

2. The non-performers in the ND were endorsed by GEJ (T.A. Orji, Uduaghan, Sylva etc)

3. GEJ is a key figure in the PDP and most of the ND states are controlled by the PDP.

4. GEJ has showed a bad example at the federal level. This bad example is being copied by some of the ND governors...
mr garri, have you ever been to bayelsa state or whr you in bayelsa state when GEJ was deputy governor/governor ? In the 36 states of Nigeria have you ever heard commendations for infrastructural developments being ascribed to deputy governors instead of governors except maybe in their lg's or villages ? How long did GEJ stay as governor of bayelsa state before he was called by OBJ to become the late Yar'Adua's running mate ? Do not let your seething hatred for GEJ derail you from giving objective and empirical analyses/arguments on this topic. Its up to you to honestly answer the questions I posed if you like but it would be a pity for someone as intelligent as you are to be amongst the bandwagon of those who sit in their living room all day spewing what they absolutely know nothing about.
PoliticsRe: What Have Niger Delta States Achieved So Far? by talktimi(m): 5:50pm On Jan 19, 2013
Ok let's end the insults here and focus on the topic. There's a difference between the niger delta region and oil producing states many of which are not in the niger delta. The fact a state has oil amongst its natural resources doesn't mean its part of the niger delta so I propose a scraping of the nddc and the formation of an oil producing states commision.
So please everybody sheathe your swords and let's enjoy this argument responsibly. cool

Afam4eva: Doing OK is not good enough. I mean, most states can be said to be doing ok too. But these states collect unimaginable amounts of movie and i want to know if they have done anything special that non-oil producing states have not done. Except maybe Akwa-Ibom state, i've not seen anything to suggest that they utilized the money given to them judiciously. I think it all boils down to bad leadership.
mr Afam, before any meaningful argument can be had with your comment here, I would like to know how many Niger Delta states you've been to. That way it would be easier to gauge your argument.
The reason why I say this is because on this forum, there are many people who have never left the comforts of their states of residence making unfounded allegations and hurling tribalistic insults to insult peoples of the niger delta as an entire collective.
Back to the topic, Edo state was ashambles before Oshiomhole came into power and there's no senatorial district that can say they've not felt the state govt's impact, Akwa Ibom state under Akpabio is also another state seeing massive development, a friend of mine who stayed there for 5yrs while in sch recently told me he couldn't recognize anywhr thr again including the bus stop to his house. Rivers state under gov Amaechi is also doing well, remember he met a lot of challenges with kidnappers and militants making it virtually impossible for projects to go on in the state but now he's developing the new port harcourt city, elevated education and health care facilities in the state to an extent people are withdrawing their kids from private schools and sending them to public schools because they are very well equiped and even now many graduates applied to be TEACHERS in this Rivers state. I can't say much about Bayelsa let's just bear in mind that thr will be drama coming out of that state again this year except a miracle happens which is what we are praying for.

My job has taken me to a lot of interior villages in the niger delta crying out for help, these people know they need help and they cry out for it yet you call them fools because you have the power of the internet to say so. May God forgive you for calling the niger delta region a God forsaken zone.

Find Out!:
Lol. Now thats likely what a Buhari/Idiagbon/Murtala Mohammed would do grin
Millitary rule had its benefits I tell you. By now, at the very least, some people would have been sacked.
where do you want to start the sacking from when its obvious that this rot didn't start from the present IGP but has been in place for decades ? There's a serious problem definitely but sacking anybody now won't solve it. The commandant on the other hand might have a few queries to answer starting from how much he has received for maintenance works since he became commandant thr and what he used such monies for.
Btw I was also surprised Channels tv wr allowed to film the police college without being stopped, security wise it shouldn't have happened in the first place but at least it will hopefully better the lot of recruits in the future.
