@deep sight In MANY African cultures, it was VERY normal to have people go about bare-chested - completely - including women. The active word you used in that paragraph is "WAS" which signifies that such culture occured in the past. From my understanding of Nigerian culture especially the SE/SS in this case, a respectable woman is supposed to be properly clad at all times especially in public while the only case of naked people I've heard of in the entire northern Nigeria are the Koma people in Adamawa. So my dear friend, indecent dressing/exposure has never been amongst our womens culture. |
naptu2: Would you believe that in the mid 2000s area boys in Surulere wrote to the stadium management that they want to be given the chance to manage the stadium. That they'd do a good job if given the opportunity (I'm not kidding).area boys ke |
But what does Cossy actually do ? She hardly ever gets a movie role and her music career hasn't even kicked off yet. |
yusulphul: after all Nigerian forces lack training and kit, so they simply don't have the capability to carry out even basic military manoeuvres," UK Guardianpls I would advice you not to take these foreign newspapers seriously on this issue. For Obasanjo's tenure a lot of money has been spent on weapons & upgrades for our military & police formationsn you're a civilian and so you won't know about all these things. The average Nigerian soldier is a very highly trained individual and during his/her career is sent on relevant courses ALL over the world. You won't know that because you're not supposed to except you have a friend or relative in the army who confides in you. I think its very silly for anyone to say our soldiers are poorly trained and for you a Nigerian to accept such as fact, why not go to the NDA one of these days for a start and see what soldiers go thru first of all. |
slim fit :sold/demolished isn't the way to go, remember the lagos state govt met the national stadium whr it is and still decided to build the teslim balogun directly opposite, as a kid growing up and going to primary & secondary sch thru that axis I always wondered at the logic. In my opinion, the national stadium lagos should be concessioned to a private individual for 10/30 yrs who's main job IS stadium facility management. Such an enterprise will know how to manage the stadium better while those who have been in charge of the stadiums for the past 10yrs should be queried and those found culpable for the rot should be retired. Money is released each year for maintenance but civil servants are the most corrupt individuals in Nigeria. |
Reyspin: Must he go there to inspect it for us to know he is workingwow, but you know really there's nothing stopping GEJ from making an on the spot assessment of a federal govt facility ? Thrs actually no need for anybody to get cranky about it |
Omojuo: All responsible agencies include maintainance of their institutions, renovations, etc in their yearly budget.I wouldn't really blame the present IGP Abubakar, the rot had set in decades earlier even down to their barracks. Let's not forget though that money is released on a yearly basis for maintenance and others but the police leaderships prefer to silence the monies... |
on this same nairaland not long ago, preople crucified Jonathan because of the state of the police college. On this same nairaland people are crucifying Jonathan for inspecting the place to see how true the allegations of neglect are. You can never satisfy the average Nigerian, what a pity. Nigerians are really a sad people indeed. |
Reptyle: Didn't know we had F-7s.highly unreliable in a dog fight, you're very right. Then president yar adua was adviced against buying these f7s but ex defence minister Kwakwanso convinced him to buy them. The chief of defence staff actually recomended Russian planes |
elopee3000: Super sonic my foot the same ak47 and ak49 nigerian Police and army re selling to naija armbrobbers.anyway i whish gold lucknna but wetin concern ak47 and supersonic jet now ? |
chuks49: Its time we deploy these jets in our battle against Boko Haramyou can't possibly do that without sending the country into another civil war. The best approach for me is this systematic arrest/elimination of BH members and their sponsors to avoid unnecessary collateral damage. |
yuzedo: Nigeria has Supersonic Aircrafts??!??yep we have, seen them in action before but the Chinese manufacturers actually stopped the f7s production in 2008 while late president Yar'Adua was strongly adviced against buying such weapons but should instead opt for Russian fighter jets... |
otikpoko: This is just a rumored siv.i later on got to find out it was a rumour but you wouldn't blame me, the S3 did pretty well against other devices including the iphone. Meanwhile, LG is said to be preparing to launch windows 8 phones before the end of this year. Now that will be something since nokia & htc decided to keep theirs out of reach of many people. |
kandiikane: Really? What ethnicity is she?she's Ikwerre from Rivers state. |
Stopped 2009, all of a sudden I felt like throwing up anytime I put a cigarette in my mouth so I just stopped. |
4llerbuntu: Continue deceiving yourself you hear. |
koruji: And where does it say "each state" in the question?"Consequently, we also want to KNOW what the Lagos state govt and by extension other state governors, budgeted for feeding (or FOOD) in 2013." Last paragraph of the post... I'm not helping him or anybody here, I just feel this is a straightforward question which doesn't deserve name calling by opposing interests here... ![]() |
.."A breakdown of the miscellaneous expenses in the budget proposal showed that the sum of N203, 753m was allocated for refreshment and meals," If the budget for feeding in the presidential villa is N203 million as stated, where did people get the N1 billion that they're talking of ? No governor in Nigeria pays for his feeding from his pocket, let's keep sentiments aside and reason with logic Aso rock and state houses across the country have a large staff which is included in the day to day feeding not only the president/governor but their staff as well which includes the cooks, drivers, gardners, security the ones working under the vice/deputies, visitors etc. Where we should even vent our anger if at all we want to do so is in the duplication of funds released under different names. My own two cents sha ![]() |

People are here complainin because somebody bought something with his money complaining about the condition of his community. Isn't his community part of a local govt council and doesn't the council have a chairman ? The community definitely has a member in the state house of assembly representing their collective. You people should leave the man let him enjoy his money when you make your own donate everything to charity as you're all saints. |
I'm dating all my ex's right now... ![]() |
Siena: A lot of envy and bitterness on this thread. It's his money, his car, his choice. Wealth is relative. To him, this is like the majority on here buying a 2009 Range Rover Sport. Nothing wrong with it. Misplaced priorities, I saw someone post? No more misplaced than one who earns 100,000 NGN per month, yet runs a 2011 Toyota Camry XLE.where were they when the man started life by selling ragolis bottles of engine oil by the roadside rain and sunshine ? I tire for Nigerians and their pepperbody |
ba7man: What's really pissing people off is that they know him and they know where he was heading...they are looking beyond his question and targeting his motive. He gets a hard-on from tryin to discredit Gov Fashola. Whatever he says doesn't stop Lagos from being the best run state in Nigeria though.maybe people here do know the OP hence the offensive against him but I believe the reason Seun formed nairaland is for Nigerians all over the world to engage in healthy discussions and arguments acroos a wide array of topics broadening our knowledge and horizons in the process, I've learnt a lot of things from people like Sienna and Ikenna here on NL. Whether the OP has a bad record or not doesn't hide the fact that this is a relevant topic for some people interested in such things and if you're not, we can simply ignore him. Nobody in his right senses can say Fashola hasn't worked in Lagos state and I don't think the OP would have said such a thing not that I'm defending him. |
babapupa: You and the op are just too ret.arded and confused for your own good. Your co dumb and dumber laptop crew member came up with the food at cabinet meetings nonsense so call your laptop friend ignorant you silly clown.if you don't have any relevant argument to post here why not just slide by. |
its obvious most people here didn't read & understand the OP's article completely. He's simply asking how much each state govt budgeted for feeding, the presidency's budget is roughly over N200 million this year. This is a straight foward question and doesn't entail hurling of insults or tribalistic comments as is being done now by some people on this thread. |
Eko Ile: Look at this mindless and virtual LAPTOP ROBOT... lmaosee kettle calling the pot black. Are you not Fashola's internet lapdog too ? I don't know why many people on this nairaland can't engage in healthy arguments without hurling insults. Mr eko ile, your NL profile says a lot about who YOU work for so if mr 9gerian decides to be a lapdog for the president shouldn't concern you @ all since he's not the one feed you or anyone on this forum. |

ujchief: Why do we have minister of state for many of the ministries? We'v got minister of education and minister of state for education, same for power, defence, health and many more. This is a waste of taxpayers money, as they run parallel responsibilities.you have a very sound argument but with the way Nigeria is, states who don't produce a minister will cry out about marginalisation. Even if you come down to individual states, its not so much a case of duplication but rather formation of irrelevant ministries like chieftaincy affairs all in a bid to "carry everybody along" |
From my understanding of such ceremonies, weapons are not fired sporadically but in an organised fashion. Btw her protocol officer should have informed/warned her before hand. Very shameful |

His intentions might be genuine, only renovating and restructuring the place will prove his critics wrong...will he do that
