Oahray: I hope they do. Ezekwesili vs Maku na debate to watch o. I don't mind waking up from sleep to watch it.

I think Jonathan needs some fact-based defense badly, he is so much of a hated figure already. He cannot afford to let this allegation slip, unless Ezekwesili is right.
right now he doesn't have only Ezekwesili to contend with because the UK prime minister David Cameron has alleged that Nigeria made over a $100,000,000,000 (one hundred billion dollars) in crude oil sales last year 2012, this administration really has a lot of explanations to make. Why are our assembly members collecting monthly salaries instead of just sitting allowances is another question bothering me about this sick country.

Anyway, me self, I want to see the debate. If FG does accept Ezekwesili request, someone biko tape it and post on youtube, wake me up that morning or night make I see am. The controversy sounds interesting, I wonder whose telling the truth.
and do you honestly think the FG will accept the challenge ?
PoliticsRe: Police, Naval Men Clash In Lagos by talktimi(m): 10:41am On Jan 28, 2013
I think this ban on okada should exempt men in UNIFORM ie police, navy, army, airforce, civil defence. I know for a fact that bikes/okada were provided for them to make life & transportation easier for them considering the meagre wages they take home. Highest they can be cautioned for traffic offences and their names/ranks taken to their respective formations for proper discipline. These military men perform a very important function for us in this country security wise.
PoliticsRe: $67 Billion Controversy : Ezekwesili Challenges Maku To Public Debate by talktimi(op): 10:07am On Jan 28, 2013
I don't believe insults and name calling by both parties should be made on pages of newspapers, they should both come out with facts of their allegations, what she achieved while serving as minister of education & where our $67 billion went to, I call it "OUR" because WE are the ones who pay tax on the cups of garri and rice etc we buy at the markets while those in power have everything given to them for free from toothpicks to underwears. I say it once again, we should hold ALL our public officers accountable NOW because people are suffering out there, there's no single social security in this country making us living corpses now.
Politics$67 Billion Controversy : Ezekwesili Challenges Maku To Public Debate by talktimi(op): 9:46am On Jan 28, 2013
Former Minister of Education, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili has challenged officials of the Federal Government to a public debate following the government’s rebuttal to her comments alleging that the governments of Presidents Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, squandered $67 billion (about N10.6trn) in foreign reserves.

Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku who addressed a press conference in Abuja on Sunday described Ezekwesili’s allegation as “outlandish and clearly fictitious.”

Maku also said the damning verdict passed on the education sector by Mrs Ezekwesili was a self-indictment, as she presided over the sector for 10 months without making any positive impact on it.

Countering Maku, the former minister, Mrs Ezekwesili said, “I Challenge them to a public debate of facts regarding 2007 Excess Crude Account (ECA) and foreign reserve and last five and half years oil revenue”.

Also writing on twitter on Sunday in messages prefaced with the declaration, “Nothing but Accountability”, Ezekwesili said: “In 2007, the incoming Administration was handed $45Billion in Foreign Reserve plus $22Billion. Nothing but aaccountability: Let Mr. Maku go further. As a citizen all I want to know is the Mathematics of the ECA and the Foreign Reserve. Nothing but accountability: I demanded accountability and that’s all a citizen asks of government. I will not stop asking for accountability”.

If the allegations by Mrs Oby Ezekwesili are true, then what did the administrations of late president Yar'Adua & Goodluck Jonathan do with the $67 billion ? This is a huge amount of money that could have gone a long way if invested in the electricity sector for example or the transport sector and if the Information minister Mr Labaran Maku feels she is lying, then the honorable thing for him to do is accept her challenge to a public debate with his facts and figures to defend his principal Mr Goodluck Jonathan.
I believe we as a people should hold our political leaders right from the wards, local govt, state, state houses of assembly, national assembly and presidency accountable for all actions taken especially in respect to finances, governance and development. What say you all ?

PoliticsRe: Chime Has Thyroid Cancer - SaharaReporters by talktimi(m): 4:22pm On Jan 26, 2013
To analyze this sahara reporters falacy, let's first of all understand whr the thyroid is since gov Chime is supposed to be suffering from Thyroid cancer. According to wikipedia,

"The thyroid gland is found in the neck, below the thyroid cartilage (which forms the laryngeal prominence, or "Adam's apple"wink.

So if the thyroid is located in the NECK below the "adams apple" how come the governor has "swollen cheeks" according to sahara reporters while his neck is still intact ? I posted a recent photo mr Chime took with some of his fellow governors earlier on this thread and the governors' neck and cheeks looked perfectly normal to me, I don't know about any other person here.
Much as I don't support the secrecy surrounding Chime's absence from his duty post, we shouldn't allow sahara reporters use big grammer and high sounding medical terms to deceive us at all. I'm not a doctor but common sense will tell you 1+1 will always equal 2

"Although Mr. Chime has began speaking these days, his left cheek remains swollen, which accounted for the reason he hid his left cheek from the camera in the photo released to Saharareporters on Tuesday", said our source

Not that I support the secrecy surrounding gov Chime's medical condition but sahara reporters lie pass devil for this case because the photograph I saw clearly shows the governor's "hidden & swollen" left cheek.

Eziachi: If 4.5 million is not meagre for a nation that draws millions of barrel of oil free of charge from the nature, tell me what is it? That is the sort of money your leaders spend at a go in Harrods for few suits and ties without even thinking about it.
They will spent hours showing PDP national convention without thinking about the cost, but 90 minutes of football? they will become prudence all of a sudden. A Nigeria public body saying something is expensive? I feel sorry for you. Calling me name is not where your redemption lies.
wise man, who told you that its the government that pays broadcasting rights for tv stations ? You better do your research well before you make your assertions public. The TV stations in Nigeria public/private said €4.5 million is too much for them to raise, govt said they'll add money for them & BON said they don't want the money since there's no reasonable criteria that was used to arrive from the initial 8 million to even the 4 million, they said they wouldn't be able to break even either way so what's your beef ? If you were a business man would you go into any venture where you wouldn't make any profit ? I don dey tire for this your baseless arguments gan.

CFCfan: The government can focus on security, post-primary education and infrastructure.
I believe though, that the FG could have a 30% stake in its own airports, while private companies, individuals and other entities could have the remaining 70%.
in other words, the minister shouldn't utilize her budgetary allocation but instead syphon it because you want the fed govt to focus on security, education & education ? Well done
Wouldn't it be better to ask the ministries and departments what they do with their yearly budgets ? And when the federal govt doesn't take care of their infrastructure or improve on existing ones aren't you the first person that will complain ? Let's give this minister a round of applause instead of condemning her for doing her job.

PoliticsRe: Obi Announces Plan To Build Malls by talktimi(m): 6:32pm On Jan 24, 2013
londoner: Oh so what you are saying is that people generally spend more money on parking, than they do in the shops they park up to visit? Seriously, dude....lol.

Even if the government does not get involved (which I quite agree with) I find it hard to believe that a shopping mall will generate less money and less employment and business (and a range of), than a recreational park or parking lot. Please explain to me how this is so, and where it is so elsewhere. the only park that can rival the taking of a mall imo, is an amusement park.

If someone in Anambra is having to take their "billions" to another state or travel to South Africa, Dubai or London, simply because those goods are not readily available to the same standard of SETTING in Anambra state, then the malls are needed.

There is no shortage of markets....there is a shortage of malls, the type of malls these millionaires are visiting abroad and in places like Lagos or Abuja.

They will have to be staffed and stocked, which may give opportunity for the people of the state.

By the way.....If you look at your original post, you were not saying that malls should be built, without gov involvement, you were saying that the money should instead be spend on a recreational parks for people to "enjoy themselves". You are yet to answer my query about that assertion though.

You have not told me how that would be of more benefit than a mall.
in my first post I wasn't really interested in revenue or employment although there's nothing a state or fed govt will be involved with that won't create employment all I'm saying is a shopping mall is too petty for an entire state govt to meddle with since there are more important things to do with space/land, why I made emphasis on recreational parks is because anytime we travel abroad people who visit these parks make comments like our govt no get sense o, why dem no fit do this one for us. Its not everytime we sling everything to revenue. The long and short is shopping malls is a project too petty for any state govt in my opinion

londoner: So, let me get this straight, you feel that parks are MORE important than malls, in this state and at this particular time in it's history?

Or is that that you feel malls and parks can not be created at the same time?

I fail to see how recreational parks will employ as many people as malls, or engage suppliers in the state in any meaningful way.

Could you please explain to me how recreational parks are a better investment of money in this state at this time please?
its quite simple, shopping malls are for private individuals to build and operate, these individuals could be single or in groups while if the state govt really wanted to utilize such parcel of land, a market or multi storey parking lot with meter readings could have been constructed there this idea of shopping mall is just completely ridiculous Anambra has a lot of multi millionaires who can involve themselves in such petty ventures without govt busy body...

Remodeling airports which I think should be concessioned and not addressing the real issues like safety and security of passengers. Even the runways are in pitiable states. She prefers some cosmetic surgery as treatment for a skin disease rather than address the underlying cause. It's a shame

Eziachi: Debating something with people like you must be a waste of my time, because all you do is to jump into the water first before knowing it dept. NTA and your AIT DST are not the same. They may be free to air but you don't need a decoder to watch NTA in Nigeria or pay for it because its publicly owned and funded by the taxpayers.
Have you ask how BBC manage to show sports events even without commercial sponsorship because its against the law that establish it? Even though NTA is funded by the public, still they are allowed to sell their programmes to commercial sponsors including sports games. So what is 4.5 million euros NTA cannot afford to get a sponsor to cover such a meagre sum?
Jonathan should sack everyone at the commercial department if the whole NTA netwrok with almost 40 substations, with a 170 million viewing public power cannot sale and make profit for something they bought for just 4.5 millions. A sum most networks spent just to buy a news desk for their studio.
you have just confirmed your olodo status so no need to explain any meaningful thing to you again. Since the €4.5 million is a "meagre" sum, please pay for us so we can enjoy the nations cup. Anumanu onye ara
