It is a economic crime to swindle investors but it is not a crime to default on a loan or mismanage a bank, if you mess up at a Job u get fired simple,
PoliticsRe: Lagos “deports” 160 Northern Beggers by tarano: 9:11pm On Aug 24, 2009
Lagos state has no done anything wrong by assisting identified and partially rehabed street beggers to get to their families and home towns.
Lagos has only relocated 160 Northern beggers.
Before jumping into conclussion
Do we know the number of street beggers that are undergoing rehab at various rehab centers in the state?
Do we know the number of street beggers that are facing possibility of Jail time or Psychiatric Hospitals for going against the law in Lagos state as it relates to street begging?
Do we know the number of former street beggers that have now been trained and can independently fend for themselves?
Do you know the number of former kid street beggers that are in foster homes or schools in Lagos?

We do not know all these. so please don't be quick to judge.
relocating 160 former beggers or recalcitrant beggers to location close to there original homes may not be bad,
If for the lack of numbers lagos has rehab and trained on average 5000 every year. or have jailed 200 repeat offenders, or have

You are very right Chicago for instance has a huge problem with beggars, vagrant, homelessness whaterver we call it. The lagos problem are poor vagrants from the hinterland of Nigeria that are chronic beggers, and there numbers are huge, my brother Every avenue should be used to mitigate the problem, rehab, relocation, jail even, employment, forced foster care for kids, everything was used in Lagos can be as aggressive as Singapore, but we need to change the trend.

If you want to know Singapore is noted for its very strict laws and regulations. Singapore beggers will be picked up by the police before long. God knows what they do to them, I know they don't play in Singapore even beggers know that,

You rightly said the the State however has numerous programs and partnerships with private organizations to help curb this problem, the question is which state is going to absorb these people into its "rehabilitation programs and partnerships" to curb the problem.

Some people will say the problem surfaced in lagos so it's the responsibility of Lagos state.
PoliticsRe: Jimoh Ibrahim: I'll Pay Today! (Oceanic Bank Loan) by tarano: 7:22pm On Aug 24, 2009
I have nothing about loans I just think the process of securing loans should be more democratic and fair to reflect the generality of Nigerias.

It is not fair and just for one individual in a polity like Nigeria to be given a Loan of 1Billion Naira, There should be democratization of the process, why give one person 1Billion if you can give 1000 people 1 Million Naira loan, even for the same business idea or plan

How industrialist should be taught to sell there ideas with more people and share the both the benefits and risks,

Nigeria does not need 10 Dangotes to reduce unemployment and poverty but 10,000 mini dangotes that is how to create an economy and people based industrialization,
PoliticsRe: Lagos “deports” 160 Northern Beggers by tarano: 5:41pm On Aug 24, 2009
If I was a Local Government Chairman or Governor what will I do about beggers in lagos? Tread the thin line between Human rights and private rights.

First and foremost, no one has a right to sleep or "beg" on the property of another. Private property means private property and an owner of property is within his rights to regulate how guests use that property. Like many jurisdictions, I'd enforce a no-loitering law that makes it a crime to loiter without the permission of a property owner.I will include government agency and property.

When a vagrant or begger is arrested for loitering, I'd want the judge hearing the case to determine if the individual is within his senses enough to sustain himself without violating the rights of others. Begging is not a legitimate profession (unless perhaps you own the parcel of land you are begging from in that case relocating the begger to his fathers compund in the north is not bad). Frankly, either a person is mentally capable of sustaining themselves, or they are not.
PoliticsRe: Lagos “deports” 160 Northern Beggers by tarano: 5:18pm On Aug 24, 2009
In many larger cities, such as Chicago, Illinois, panhandling or begging has been banned. In Chicago, there are a number of signs at regular intervals reminding people that peddling is banned. This rarely dissuades the beggar, and the constitutionality of such bans has not been firmly established by case law.

In the city of Orlando, Florida passed an ordinance requiring panhandlers to obtain a permit from the municipal police department. The ordinance further makes it a crime to panhandle in the commercial core of downtown Orlando, as well as within 50 feet (15 m) of any bank or automated teller machine. It is also considered a crime in Orlando for panhandlers to make false or untrue statements, or to disguise themselves, to solicit money, and to use money obtained for a claim of a specific purpose (e.g. food) to be spent on anything else (e.g. drugs). The potential for these latter restrictions to be enforced is minimal.

In Santa Cruz, CA, there are regulations for panhandlers on where they can and cannot "beg". For example, they must be a certain distance away from the door of any business.

In parts of San Francisco, CA, aggressive panhandling is prohibited.

In atlanta panhandling is banned.

It is not a crime to be poor or "vagrant." but a law can be made against begging.

Lagos is only been aggressive against begging, It's either the beggers go to jail or Government help them go home, sweet home, LOL
CultureRe: Who Are The Mokole? by tarano(op): 9:01pm On Aug 18, 2009
There are very isolate but are culturally more similar to Bariba, they are closer to the eastern part of Niger state, I am really facinated about this and i think more research should be done into ede language clusters in Benin republic, Dassa is a town similar to abeokuta in its foundation, still very little is known about them, Colonization has really blinded a lot of people, The artificial lines created by the british/french has hindered cultural knowledge,
CultureRe: Who Are The Mokole? by tarano(op): 8:56pm On Aug 18, 2009
1,147,000 speakers for all listed Ede varieties (69,000 Cabe, 63,000 Ica, 100,000 Idaca, 80,000 Ifè, 50,000 Ije, 65,000 Mokole, 200,000 Nago, 25,000 Nago Kura, 30,000 Nago Manigri-Kambolé, and 465,000 Yoruba).

No I'm not from kandi, I met a friend that was from Kandi and has mixed heritage, Mokole/Bariba, It's just interesting that Mokole villages are the farthest of the the group of Yoruba languages, it's about 280 km north of the Sabe communities, in Benin’s Borgou province.

Well The Mokole in Northern Benin are normally found in and around the town of Kandi,

There language is closely related to Yoruba I mean close, Very little is known about them some suggest they are reminants of oyo ile that left with the Alafin into exile in Bariba land during the first collapse of Oyo by the Nupe,

PoliticsRe: Are We Truly Ready For A Revolution by tarano: 7:31pm On Aug 18, 2009
Well my idea revolution is a civil type because it is civil it will take more time to develop but when it does reach full capacity it will destroy all structures that are inimical to the progress of Nigeria, There will be no going back,
I believe it can happen in Nigeria.
Read about the American revolution and you would understand what I am talking about or French revolution,

PoliticsRe: Are We Truly Ready For A Revolution by tarano: 5:51pm On Aug 18, 2009
I prefer a Green  Democratic Revolution, let's start with elected officials in the local government level, if we become successful say win 75% of all Local Government election, Then we know we have a base and populace support for an all-out revolution,
If the masses do not care about who becomes their council men and women, then I do not feel they are really bothered who becomes their governor or President,

That is my take start small,

PoliticsRe: Alao Akala Awards N25m For 5 Public Toilets. by tarano: 10:37pm On Aug 13, 2009
This is a misplaced priority, true hygiene is vital for the health and safety of city folks, but public toilets in general should be spear headed by the private sector simple.

If the toilets are located in Government recreational parks then it's okay, but just dotted around the state is a product of poor leadership simple.

With some Civil experience myself, I believe the cost of design/construction is inflated,
construction costs included the waste system, the building cost, earthwork, and site work.
Question to ask is capacity: what is the capacity # visitors per day

Water is more important when talking about hygiene,
Education is important
Legislation, Government mandate that business must have toilets to cater for their needs.

PoliticsRe: Fashola Insists On State Police • Wants Special Status For Lagos by tarano: 4:18pm On Aug 13, 2009
I am in full support of the emergence of state police in every state of the federation? Like obama said we need a strong institutions not personality, if we have a strong police institution in every state, even a morally corrupt Governor would eventually be driven out of office like Rod Blagojevich of IL,

have no fear what is needed is purposeful leadership,

CrimeRe: Sexual Assault and Rape: Test your knowledge by tarano: 2:50pm On Aug 06, 2009
From a legal point of view, Rape is very difficult to prove when alcohol is involved, Alcohol /drugs can inhibits both the man and the woman,
Is it really rape when the both the man and the female are both drunk to resist each others unwanted advances,

If after the fact, she cries rape
It’s not rape if a person is too drunk or high to resist sex."
The guy can also cry rape because he also was to drunk or high to resist the act.

Where do we draw the line, The point is that indeed there are rapes occuring all over the world but the onus is on the accuser to provide evidence beyond reasonable doubt that indeed there was a rape.

I believe MKO would have been a better leader than Obasanjo for sure
PoliticsRe: Muslim Rebels attack in the North by tarano: 8:55pm On Jul 28, 2009
This is a result of Government sidelining the youths

Southern Youths are into 419, Yahoo Yahoo, E-mail scam, oil theft, Economic saboteurs, Rebels, Militants, illegal importation, traveling the sahara/Mediteranean, tennage prostitution in Europe/ Italy.

Northern Youths, Almajirii, Islamic militants, Disease, Poverty, Ignorance

Nigeria future is bleak as long as it's youth are forgotten,
PoliticsRe: 1960: Were We Ready For Independence? by tarano: 8:43pm On Jul 28, 2009
No country can ever be ready for Independence, until you've got the independence , was America ready for independence??

I don't think so, But one thing that was obviously wrong with the Nigeria experiment was that opinioted and feudalistic powers in the North were not ready for independence,

The south should have just gone alone, instead of waiting on the North, when the north is ready they can join us if we reach an amicable agreement,
PoliticsRe: Islamists To Yar’adua: We Want Total Islam - PM News by tarano: 8:38pm On Jul 28, 2009

PoliticsRe: Do You Think Nigeria Should Divide Up Or Be United Forever? by tarano: 3:52pm On Jul 22, 2009
I voted for division, reason is that Nigeria has not worked so far, for me personally, my family, my community, and my state.

This is a personal decision,

We should remove all complexity, Nigeria should divide into two basic republics,
Northern Nigeria Republic & Southern Nigeria Repulic, Finish

The collective intelligence of the North and South of Nigeria are both in different directions, so Nigeria would not work,
PoliticsRe: Is Dr. Olusola Saraki Christian Or Moslem? by tarano: 5:54pm On Jul 15, 2009
Well I have family in Ilorin and most of us cherish our yoruba names and oriki, Alani, Akanbi, so its just politics and kwara and ilorin in particular has benefited from the competing influences of hausa/fulani political power and Yoruba robust social and economic benefits, I don't really care but for once I have always wondered why Saraki is always introduced as Olusola saraki, every other Ilorin people are very much proud to state their muslim names, I guess it's just politics, Bukola saraki?? why not Abubakar Saraki??
