Ahmadgani: The insurgency war in the North East geo-political zone has been won by the country, according to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai.
He made the declaration yesterday in a speech at a conference on security challenges organised by the Federal University, Dutsin-ma, Katsina State, noting that recent happenings were a rumbling of a dying group.
Represented by Brigadier General I.K. Ikpere, he assured the citizenry that the military was poised to combing the Sambisa Forest for the remnants of the terror group.
While acknowledging the escalation in armed conflicts between herdsmen and rural communities as well as other criminal acts, he noted that the threats require deeper understanding through rigorous academic and intellectual exercise. He stressed that it was only when the origin, nature, causes, manifestation and dimensions were understood that solutions could be proffered.
The state governor, Aminu Bello Masari, said for result, government at all levels must tackle the pervasive illiteracy and poverty in the land.
While lauding the military for the success story in the North East, he feared that the problem would not abate if the twin issues were not urgently addressed.
The vice chancellor, Professor Haruna Kaita, said it was the tradition of the institution to organise public lecture series biannually on burning issues with a view to educating, enlightening and sensitising the public, government officials and policy makers to happenings in the society.
In a related development, four policemen are on the brink of dismissal as the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Adamawa State Police Command is currently probing the quartet for allegedly diverting bags of rice meant for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the state.

TuCloz: So we are presently warming up for our POP (we are actually NYSC 2015 Batch 'B' Stream II) and so, eyes are all set on the States we are going to spend the remainder of this year. A friend of mine told me she got an info from a whatsapp group that there is a vacancy for Corpers serving in Osogbo- that successful candidates might end up being transfered to their headquarters in Lagos next month. Well we called the number that was given out. The man on the other end of the phone instructed us to report at 08:00Am today, with our lap top or android device for the screening. Ah, this could be a bank job coming; a perfect chance to remain in the beautiful city of Osogbo after my NYSC. BTW Lagos is where I call home. Chai, God is about turning the disappointment of not passing out with Stream I to blessing! There was nothing positive I didn't think about. Today, I was there one hour before the time set. Fast foward, screening has started. The 1st thing was that, they are the foremost multi-level marketers in Nigeria, blah blah blah (I no no where dey put GNLD, Forever, etc). Next was the shocker: they had a job for us, that has a target of registering 2,000 people's data per week. That we will use our system or android device, and that the working hours is 9am-5pm, mon-fri. I almost fainted when he said the salary was TEN THOUSAND NAIRA monthly! For graduates! Chai! Naija yaff tumble! Op my job hunting for today is more heltic and ridiculous than urs. It is well sha may our good God preserves better nd reliable plc for us |

Realman87: Which united South. You must be Dreaming. the SS/SE will never work with SW. We will rather work with the North. In fact, Nigeria really belongs to the East+North. When the colonialists were leaving, they balanced power by giving the President to Azikiwe; PM to Tafawa Balewa, Army GOC to Ironsi. The SW were never in national politics, they were regional players and social critics. The balance of power was altered due to the coup and war. The East lost out and the SW took its place. This explains why the SW were very mad at Jonathan for resurrecting the East. They were hoping to retain the North+West balance of power; hence their 2015 betrayal of the South. Unfortunately and judging from History, Yorubas have never lasted at the centre. They cannot match the North, mind for mind. Only the Easterners can and the Northerners know this.
Thus, there will be no Southern alliance in 2019. The North will destroy the West as always and they will return to the East. The North+ East balance of power will be Restored PERMANENTLY and the SW will live in eternal regret. They have the media and mouth-power to continue their role as social critics. I do not see sense in u. U reason wit ur anus |
