I am one of them. And many of my friends.
There are years that jamb scores will low across board such that someone with 220 can be admitted.
About the merit part, you are not far from the truth.
Some schools do 60% based on merit, 10% based on educational less developed states, 10% catchment areas,10% to indigenes of the community and the other 10% to VCs people. It happens in the world over.
Their thinking is that you can't put someone from IMO state on the same level with someone from Benue state, though I have never been a fan of all thos non-merit shit though.

If your parents have money, go Afe babalola university and study medicine ohh. They are good. They won the south west Medical quiz beating Unilag, Uni Ibadan and Unilorin.

All the best
Is that the fake news abuad is selling that they won the quiz ? For which year ? The finals were popularised here on nairaland and I remember the finals were between uch and oau !

All those ascribing the recent economic upsurge to the sole mastery of VPYO are either mischievous or deficient in critical reasoning.

To any reasonable person the recent economic gain should be seen as a response or results of careful planning and decision of the government from time back. And not a products of a big bang theory/policy.

dude yorubas travel in fact the only region in nigeria without a sizeable yoruba population is the core South East and that's because of your rank intolerance to your visitors, in fact nbs reports show the south East to be the most homogenous region in nigeria

I've been all over nigeria and to a lot of African countries, and you will find both yorubas and igbos there, the only problem is your people start to genuflex and preen like peacocks when they arrive on some small change.

that yoruba don't travel myth is just funny to me.

This guy should listen to himself! The president of the Federal Republic had a missed call?
does he understand that he adds fuel to the fire of people calling the phone calls hoaxes?

he even went as far as saying the president sent him a text grin grin grin
in this day and age even the village idiot knows the protocol involved in presidential phone calls almost makes it impossible to miss!
the other one in the afternoon said president called him 'Femi' instead of adesina! grin

that could be misconstrued as someone else was on the other side of the phone! not the president, a paid actor??

that pic is fake news, that is the daily ferry from banjul to barra, and it's the most popular trade route btw gambia and Senegal. it's most likely the 7:00am ferry wh is always full. for years that's how full that ferry usually is. the same pic backwards repeats itself daily at 6:00 pm.
someone is trying to whip up public sentiments without knowing the real truth.
I live in the gambian tourist area of kololi, and I can categorically tell you that a plane load of tourists arrived yesterday, all the news u hear are fake.
the only true thing we agree on is jammeh leaving on Thursday!

Politics / Re: Armed Herdsmen: Afenifere, Ohanaeze, ACF Disagree On Fayose’s Law by Tbamo(m): 8:34am On Aug 31, 2016
In every developed country a form of this grazing bill exists, have u ever travelled to Europe and seen young boy carrying a sword and driving a herd of cattle through the main street?

my arguments are listed thus
1: culture cannot be used as an excuse. the cowboys in texas had similar cultures but had to modify their way of life, and these gave rise to the large privately owned ranches in the US

2. the grazing bill does not ban movement of humans, the fulani can go ahead and roam around the state but they must not be accompanied by any cattle, it's the cattle that is banned. only cattle and harmed fulani can contravene this law! Therefore the human right and constitution arguments are null and void!

3. most of the lands these guys drive their cattle through are private lands owned by southern villages for generations, in the past when fulani came to a village their sarkin presented himself to the village head with gifts of 'wara', milk and meat signifying their coming in peace. they were given instructions on where and where not to pass through and this was followed not because the fulani were more docile then, but because the fulani knew the villagers were equally harmed. with civilization most of these villages were disarmed while the fulani could not.

4.cattle rearing is private business. This law is similar to the anti Road side hawking laws enacted in Lagos, and we did not get any " this law is illegal" comments then ( even though that law was more inhumane)

5. cattle rearers should move with the time and buy lands for ranching

6. it would be extremely illegal for govt to be the purchaser of the land and importer of feeds for their cattle.

7. govt does not buy land and purchase feed for poultry and fish farmers in the south why the separate treatment?

I can go on and on but I've got work to do!

Celebrities / Re: Linda Ikeji: I Took Wizkid To Police In Lagos Because Of These by Tbamo(m): 10:45pm On Apr 17, 2016
itunu8:
I just had to share this anon comment on her blog here.. Totally agree

Linda I have never commented on your blog but Im here now to speak the truth to you as a woman. Forgive me if its lengthy and I will understand if you do not post it. First of all I agree with you on the need for men especially Nigerian men to show women respect. The case of the Olomofin brothers insulting Gbemi publicly was an eyesore but hey I did not see you publicly condemn that. Instead you reported it as it was and even laughed. Now some1 has spoken about your pussy and you are upset with men slut shaming others. I would love to say Wizkid was wrong but Iv been observant. You paid alot of attention to Wizkids baby mama story and he got upset and put some of your old modelling pics on his snapchat. After that you started writing only negative stuff about him. We both know you write up on his eviction was malicious. You could have written that story without acting like you were gloating but you did. Now he reacted and ofcourse everything he said hurt you. A man calling a woman smelling pussy is painful then your mum etc.and now your only way to retaliate is to report him for saying he would ask his 16 year old cousin to beat you. We both know that would never happen but Im not here to defend Wizkid. I do not know him and cannot be bothered by the outcome of this brouhaha. Its the hypocrisy of your write up that gets to me, the way you are suddenly acting like a victim, the way you are making this about women and violence and comparing it to Chris brown and Rihanna. Common Linda. You write about people everyday and you have stepped on toes. Dont get upset if you get a taste of your own pudding. I will advise you to drop the case, move on with you blogging and yourself and Wizkid should issue a public apology to each other. Celebrate his achievements and let things go. Journalism should never be emotion based. I know you can be biased so I dont expect to see this up. You will like your readers to read only comments that support you and subtle ones that dont to shape their opinions. Lol.As long as you read it thats fine.

finally a very intelligent writeup!

First of all wizkids actions are detestable, but Linda is not without blame!

She has reported him to the police,so why the public stirring up by still writing an article on why she did what she did?

She then try to manipulate public opinion by claiming she's being targeted because she's a woman! which is hilarious!

She has also conveniently forgotten her threat of ending his career!

She also came across as a bit boastful with the ' I gave 500k the a woman'! who cares that's most likely why she did it. So she could play the God role and boast abt it!

it's OAU, ABU and UI compete for second place.the halls of residence I UI are beautiful edifices though and most of its superb structures are scattered over a large area, unlike OAU where all the beautiful structures are in a 1sq km area.
