I want to start by saying the Alausa office are very effective in carrying out their duties. I really appreciate them for that. Let me add that their approach to those doing DIY is quite commendable. They relate with you with a mixture of both disdain and fear/respect. I noticed they treated me with "special respect" due to the DIY. Noticed it with others that did same.

My advice: Do the first payment online, then do fast track after biometrics

After making your payment online, YOU ARE EXPECTED TO GO TO THE OFFICE BEFORE YOUR CAPTURING DATE TO OPEN A FILE (This is an information most DIY don't know). If this is done, it makes it easier for you on the day you finally go for capturing.

But just incase you can't/didn't go (like me), you can get it done on that capturing date. I'll suggest you budget 2k and those photocopy shops will help you get it done. Please, go with passport photograph o, except you have excess money to spend

After this point is where my fast track started. You'll be given a brown envelope at the shop (request for it, it you want to do fast track). Take the envelope and move in, submit it to the person helping you with fast tracking, and you'll join the queue for capturing.

After that, you should collect it in less than one week if your fast track is sure. Got mine in less than four days, although I went to pick it up today (already had my new passport number before today)

SUMMARY: Note that this is for Alausa office oooo
- On the day of your capturing, go in the afternoon, around 2/3pm. By then, the crowd would have subsided (Don't mind the time on your slip)

- Get someone to fast track for you before capturing

- When you go to prepare your file at the photocopy shops, go for the brown file... DIY is pink file (I think that's to differentiate us), but since you already plan to fast track, don't use that file

- You'll pay #3000 for one stamp like this sha inside the office

- After capturing, don't misplace your slip. You'll need it for your passport collection

- When you go to collect your passport, go around 9am. Ensure you go with the old passport else you'll be sent back

- No "Gara" for there o, else they'll ask you to go to hell. I saw instances like that where people thought they could bully the officials maybe because of who they think they know, and the official asked them to do their worse.

I noticed the officials there know their rights and don't stand for any intimidation especially when on their right

- If you're going with kids, they give you priority, and they treat the kids very well.

Downside: The dustbin in the compound is full and overflowing, hence the wait area stinks.

To get you clear how much did you pay the persson that help you fast track?
The 3000 you paid is it to the person that help you fast track or to an office officially

Plastering pass plastering if you understood what I mean, it depend on the mason job quality and not the amount charged,
quality building with bad plastering is rubbish or none sense to me, make sure you have a skilled mason try to check is other jobs then
consider the price you are paying.

But for normal level job, use this calculation as reference for a room of 12x10 feet is 12k to 15k for exterior a room has four walls, and consider ground work and up level works use decression to consider your budget range

Going for top notch job this my reference will not work

Honestly, 3M with current cost of material will not get you above 2bedroom bungalow with zinc roof
sliding window, wood door, you will get conduct wiring, and you have good ideal about building personally,
you must knw all the material and compromise on some of the quality.

To be sincere it will get you make I leave landlord house kind of structure. later I go build main structure to demolish this later

Most of those called premium battery some are not worth it, some you are just paying money for the brand name, the battery itself is rubbish, the country of manufacture those not matter, china, korea, usa, yes, what matter most if you can see the number of cycle of the battery in the manual or on the battery, that is the real life time of the battery, forget brand I learned this the hard way, but if you have money to play with buy name or name of country the battery was made.

To give your battery long life, depend on how you use the battery, each charge and discharge is a cycle, yes some battery are 250 cycle some 300cycle, don't be deceive by the float life of the battery you see 20 or 15yr, what you should be worry about is cycle times, yet the seller has there problem too, they buy battery with low cycle life and put it in a carton of premium brand with high cycle, they call it baptism or they buy kunle battery and tell the company not to brand it kunle battery, then import to Nigeria, at there warehouse they print all sort of quality battery name on they real kunle battery and sell for quality battery price.

buy unbranded battery, name not popular they are cheap and will last you 10 to 12 month, if you use the cycle properly they will last 18month value for your money, more so buying 150ah is better than 200ah, my reason 150ah is cheaper in price, you will get 2x150ah for the price of 1 200ah, that is 300ah for the price of 1 200ah, to me 200ah is better when you want to sell scrap.

Buy unbranded battery brand new with the way we use inverter in this country i bet the best you can get from any battery is 10 month to 18 month.

These are better things to consider rather buying the one asking for more money. But like others have pointed out, the treatment of your batteries is probably the best indicator of how long it will last you. Consistent over-discharge or overcharging of any battery will make it die young.

What you said is not truly correct using price to compare the quality of battery, the fact is most importer sometime import different brand and print another name on them, very ram pared that how they make profit, the only way to manage your battery is how you used it, Yes, you charge and discharge, each process is called a cycle and every battery has times of cycle which is the real life time of that battery

Good morning Segzy, and thanks for opening this page to warn innocent clients who wants to do genuine business with Vendors here on nairaland from falling prey of the fraudster, Chekitaut. Unfortunately, I had fallen prey already before this thread became very clear. I first saw your post when I was about entering business with chekitaut, but at that point, so many still considered him genuine, and you too harsh and being too quick to come online to paint him black for a failed delivery which could have happened due to unforeseen circumstances. So I considered your issue with him as a temporary set back he can quickly correct, little did I know it was deeply rooted in his nature.
I imported a Howo truck from China an gave this guy to manage on 24th October 2019. Although the truck had an accident when an amature was moving it to another terminal for clearing, hence he had to tow it to his base. I paid for the towing, transferred a lot of money to him to fix it, and for more than a month and half this guy keep saying that he was repairing the truck to bring it to the standard he wants, to ensure it will be reliable for his use. The money I sent for the repair of the truck was within the first 2 weeks from 24th October, and those repairs were clear and the parts receipted. For the next one month, he kept claiming he didn't want to bother me, and that he's shouldering the expenses for the repair to bring the truck to his standard, always insisting the truck hasn't started working.
Finally, he accepted the truck started working on 9th of December, and that he would pay me on 13th since our agreement is on weekly payment. He also confirmed to me at the end of that week that the truck worked very well that week but gave no reason why he didn't pay me on Friday as the agreement stipulated. By evening of Monday 16th, of the following week, he picked my call and said he was going home and would pay when he got home. By Tuesday I called and told him to move my truck to Lagos from Abeokuta so another person can take it over, that I was fed up with his lies. That was the last I heard from the guy even as I write. Most time his number doesn't go, sometimes it does without him picking. I've sent WhatsApp and he isn't responding, I've also noticed he stop visiting nairaland.
I was concerned that something might have happened to him, maybe one of his debtors arrested him, until I called segzy this morning and he confirmed he mistakenly picked his call 2days ago thinking he was a client waiting for him for delivery. Hence, I decided to take an action by warning other prospective innocent clients from falling prey to this fraudster. I sure will further follow up by sending the Police/EFCC after him to retrieve my truck and all he owe me.

Its indeed a horrible experience but one that comes with doing business in Nigeria, I hope I don't get involve with this kind of fellow again.
