Our Army commandant gave me his BB touch to love-vendor,
After much gossip on how i pimped someone's E71, he expected the best from me,
I tried as much to add utilities to it but unfortunately i only suceeded in adding low-end java app,
Maybe i need to know other extension that expensive BB should accept,
BB users, help me clear my mess!!!!!!!
Lol. What kind of apps exactly does you Army boss need? There are converters that convert .jar files into .cod and .alx that u can then install on the bb using the desktop manager.

Although not as plentiful as those for nokias there are free apps on the net for blackberrys just use google that's where your BIS comes in, surf the web and download what you need. There are fun themes too that are free. You have been given an unlimited access to the internet, flex it and download as you please.

Afford?
Even your personal laptop nor reach highly pimped E71 ( Just a joke ), Alot of girls complain of Eseries/symbian because it too complicated, Hello females! You all need to be lectured on how to use a smartphone, Why are we deceived of 'pinging pong'? It is called CHAT!!!!! Here is what u have to understand. Pinging is within BB ( that means few people will be available )
But with WhatApp, you can communicate with android, Iphone and symbian users ( that means you have more people to communicate with ),
Join the winning club,
Just to clear a misconception here, whatsapp, 2go and other messenging apps work on blackberry too.

that being said, I personally got a blackberry coz i'm a heavy internet user n downloader. the unlimited downloads at a relatively cheap price is what killed it for me.

I think blackberrys will continue being popular amongst service providers because the bb compresses data unlike the Iphone and nokia web browsers and as such it is good news for the networks. i once read something like the data consumed by 1 iphone is equivalent to that of about 50 or so bb users(not too sure abt d figure but I remember its much). I dont think any service provider will give people unlimited downloads on an Iphone for d same price as a BIS, that will be invitation for suicide as doz iphones can wreck havock if care is not taken
.And as BIS prices go down (they are bound to drop) more people will join d bb wagon.

IMO, anyone who is not a heavy internet user and has a bb is a waste coz there are better alternatives available. then again, some people treasure the BBMessenger so much. the value of a product lies not in the amount you paid for it but it's sentimental value. so different strokes for different folks.

Opera doesn't connect at all. device browser is as epileptic as NEPA  angry

Bolt is the only one i can use reasonably with it's own failure points too.

The bad thing about this is that when i have a link in a mail or tweet, clicking on it takes you straight to the device browser, instead of giving you option to chose a preferred one, i know MTN does that the last time i was on their network.
In that case, the problem isn't your settings. its from almighty Airtel itself. i am having the same problems. i think Airtel BIS is officially crapped out right now. you can either wait for them to get their act together or u can throw away your sim and bail out like many are doing. smiley

Lol. Can you browse with the zain normally on the bb browser and opera? Are they connecting fine?

as far as i know,
access point should be ; internet.ng.zain.com or internet.ng.airtel.com. try the two.

then leave username and password blank or try "internet" as username and "internet" as password works too.

You are right bro, i was on MTN last year and it was pretty much better, but connecting to lappy was not possible. The attraction to Zain was that as at last year, i could tether my BB to the laptop using the DM profile settings.
Since Airtel do only monthly subscription, i didn't have any opportunity to test run the service first.
Now i can't even connect to laptop again, went to their shop and they told me it cannot be done, that i should buy a data card for my lappy.
Can you imagine  huh
Any body that can connect to lappy on any network should let me know. Provided they don't charge outside the BIS plan.
the old settings was internet.ng.zain.com as APN. the new APN is internet.ng.Airtel.com. the old one still works for some people though. try the new APN and if it doesnt work then you know the problem is from Airtel. Me I cant even browse with my Airtel now.

from what i've heard, i've not seen any download limit for etisalat. no such info on their website and i've not heard of a download limit from friends who use etisalat. calling their customer care should help clear the air.

Thanks man. I do that most times, the prob is the coverage in my area is basically gprs so,when edge manages to show up,it gets handicapped. I'm back to mtn sha after the dissapointing one-day romance I had wiv airtel. Guess I just have to make do wiv the gprs 2g service. My wanting an edge service is cos of streaming videos whc is something I enjoy on ma bb. Glo edge is awesome, but the 1.5gb limit is appalling.
Try out etisalat. about the streaming, I wonder how u do that but if its any help u can use m.vuclip.com it helps me download videos from several sites including youtube instead of streaming them over slow connections.
I think this things are location specific , I do not experience what you experience on your glo at alllll, it works normal(not perfect). even when the network is down ,its never for up to 10 min (maybe except when am not looking) . But I guarantee you will be tempted to hurl your phone against the wall if you try mtn here . From what I have been reading around , I think etisalat is the most consistent across the country
You are right bro. And thats why i'll advice anyone to try out 1 day BIS of any network in their locality. before subscribing for a month.

Dude, thanks for the zain info. I'm on their daily package and cn swear I'll never dare it again. Dnt knw which adjective qualifies the awkwardness of d service.
Abt the opera stuff, dnt knw of any other opera bt 5.0 rocks well wiv mtn bis. And I want to knw if there is anyway I can boost edge service on ma phone(its a javelin without 3g) cos I only gt gprs in ma area nd when d edge comes up when at some locations,it doesn't browse at all. Is there any way arnd it? Its pretty difficult streaming videos when on gprs only.
You're very welcome bro. Thanks for confirming Operamini works on MTN BIS.

concerning your problem I dont get it. are you saying when Edge comes up on your BB it doesnt browse? thats really wierd. you can try this in such occassions. go to manage connections and switch off your mobile network then switch it on again. this just enables your bb to re-register n i've found out it it usually helps antime i'm experiencing a network lag in browsing.

you can try etisalat. i hear they maintain good edge network. get their I day BIS and see.
Use glo and have no regrets , all browsers and applications work fine.
But I really can't wait to go back to my nokia(got spoilt, now with nokia care). It does all I do with my BB at a considerably lower cost.
Glo is a terrible network, they never have a stable service. i can tell you that in every month there will be at least 1 week with NO GPRS service. they are that erratic.

@OP
I feel your pain. AIRTEL BIS is just terrible. I'll advice you to go for etisalat or MTN. as I'm typing right now, I have 2 BIS subscriptions Running one GLO and One AIRTEL. I can confidently tell you BOTH are not working now. I am posting with my MTN on BOLT using PAYG. Glo, gprs has disappeared for over 48hours now and Airtel/zain despite having full bars thats bursting outta my phone, I cant even open common google. Its been that bad with Zain/AIRTEL ever since I activated I have NOT browsed for more than 5mins at a stretch without disconnection. This is just terrible.

My advice to you guys is if you want to migrate to any networks BIS just first subscribe fo
r the one day BIS and test it. 400 naira can save you alot of heartache.

A pretty engaging video on the monotheistic God of Judaism and Christianity and by extension, Islam. With such knowledge, the reasons why this God was so different in the New Testament and many passages in the Old Testament become clear.

Here's a link to the video.

Who here uses MTN BIS, can you please confirm if operamini works with MTN BIS? Because since MTN blocked servers for operamini I was wondering if it affected opera on BIS too. So, anyone pls?
PhonesRe: God Bless Airtel, Low Internet Tariff And Low Call Rate 12 Per Minute. by TCD: 11:46am On Jan 09, 2011
Airtel's Internet service is TOTAL RUBBISH. You have FULL bars but slow or no connectivity. Be careful everyone before you commit your cash.

no post since august but i'll still post. 've been trying to send bismonth to 777 for about a day now and it keeps saying SMS rejected on glo. all efforts to get customer care to fix it have proved abortive n they just keep suggesting random things. I've adequate credit on my fone. i removed my sim n put in someone else's bb n it still returns d same error. Pls help.
Since the error was still same when u inserted your sim into another bb then I guess the problem is with your SIM/LINE. Have you checked your message centre number to confirm its correct? If your message center number is wrong on your SIM you won't be able to send SMS's.

Remove the battery and wait for abt 10mins b4 re-inserting it. That shuld help.

I need a subscriber's view on zain bis. Thinking of trying out there service cos mtn sucks in ma area, and aint ok with glo's bandwidth that is limited. Called their customer care(zain) and was told d monthly package has an unlimited bandwidth. Pls,is dt true?
This is a satanic lie. Zain has a download limit of 1GB and as a present subscriber I tell you Zain BIS is the worst I've come across quality of service wise. Glo is even better with 1.5GB limit.

The only advantage with Zain is you can tether with ur pc and that's if u can even see the network to connect.

My advice to you is to try it in your locality by subscribing for the 1 day BIS and flex it before u commit your money for a month. My regret is I didn't test it out, if I did, I won't be lamenting today. Hope this helps you.

Hi, 1 rand is 22 naira not 2 naira. So 250 rand = N5,500.

Just thought you should know.
