Ahh Exodus 6. 3 actually helps you understand that 2 Person's are involved here.
Exodus 6:3

3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them.
Here, Jehovah tells Moses that in the past, he appeared in the name of God Almighty while his own name was unknown. Or let's put it in a way you can understand. He was basically saying I appeared in my surname but my name was unknown to them.
Now to verse 2
And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord:
Jehovah says I am the Lord, does that mean he does not have a father? No.

Most people use julian calendar, your January 1st and December 1st is flawed.
