I'd be trying to deceive you with lies if I claimed it wasn't my opinion. And I'd also be claiming I can not think for myself if it were the opinion of someone else. Therefore, your respect, though not sought, is very highly appreciated and reciprocated.
Merci

MrMxyptlk:
Truth is Christianity will always be tyrannical to me. Cause, it's not about being a good person, its the fact that, even while being good(or tryna be), you can't make the pearly gates unless you belief in a particular existence of which sadly, there's no solid proof.

Basically, christianity says, you've never hurt anyone but you dont believe Jesus is the way so you'll still suffer, but he's killed lots, sent lots to hell, put families in depressive states but he makes heaven cause he says "God, forgive me".

The concept of inherited sin(Adam's sin sucks more). Let's simplify this(Christians reading this are already saying you can't simplify the things of God, but oh well, I'll proceed eitherways). I'll use my life as an example, My mom is a teacher. When I was in grade 2, my class teacher then had a daughter who was in Grade 5. My mom was her daughter's Math teacher and she was mad at my mom cause my mom refused to alter her daughter's grades to make them much better. She, in her annoyance took it out on me and my grades. On first listen and even subsequent listen, everyone will say "Na, that was wrong". But that exactly is what God is doing to us all. I never "chose" to eat any forbidden fruit but here I am, suffering from someone else's decision to sin.

Again, Christians say their God is omniscient. "He knew us and all about us before we were formed in our mother's womb". That I'll like to expand further to say, he knew how we'll end our lives too. Then why create someone being 100% certain that he/she would end up in hell? And if he doesn't know how we'll end up, is he really Omniscient?

If my child steals a piece of meat from the pot and I decide to kill that child, y'all will definitely say "Fam, that's an overkill". But I live in sin(probably not even harming others, just ignorant about christ), then I die and burn "FOREVER". Honestly, that's unfair.

"Jacob I loved, Esau I hate"
"All are called, few are CHOSEN"
"I'll have mercy on whom I chose to have mercy on"
This is someone who loves us all equally?
Maybe you should ask one question at a time. We can learn everything in one single post.

Bible made it clear that Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus also said that he came out from God.
It's those preaching absurdities like only one person is the Father, Son and also the Holy Spirit that are misleading unbelievers.
You are right, Jehovah (Jesus Christ) is the son of God. And just as biology teaches you, the son of a lion is a lion.

Ok, my elder bro.
Now here's the question sir.
The attributes of a god includes omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, omnibenevolent etc. So you pray so you'll have all these powers? undecided
Is God omnipresent? And yes, the entire purpose of religion and worship is for him to direct our lives and path and ultimately becoming like him.

The difference is in the how. I may propagate a doctrine religiously, whereby I consistently and with conscientious regularity repeat it till you accept and believe it.

But since I do not want you to agree with me (see my "do not believe" above), I am not indoctrinating you into my "religion", or rather, my understanding.

The word "religion" is problematic to define, you will find.
That's your opinion and respect it

You're just going round in circles.
Can you explain concisely what you mean by 'becoming like god' and 'becoming sons of god'?
Explain as if I'm a 6 year old
Now my 6 year old. Becoming like God means having his power and his knowledge. It means we can do all things. That is what it means to become like God.
Is that 6 year old enough?

To become like God. To those that believe in him, he gave power to become sons of God.

The bold is true. A doctrine that is not religiously propagated is just a doctrine. But if I religiously (with consistent and conscientious regularity) indoctrinate with a military or any other doctrine and it becomes accepted and practised by many, a religion it becomes.

You will find that there is a general problem with defining the word religion, which is why understanding must grow.
Every doctrine is propagated. I think you are a smart guy but your only problem here is your definitions.

[quote author=jaephoenix post=121869501]What is the purpose of 'discovering the ways of god'?
Lemme rephrase. Why do you pray, fast, go to church etc?
You answered your question with your question. Prayer, fasting and worship are our tools in understanding and getting nearer to God. That's how we experience him.

Can you bring a knife to a gun fight? No!
This world got advanced via science. People can travel around the world in one day, what was unheard of years ago. You can see and talk to someone in the other side of the world, a feat unheard of years ago. It did not happen by religion. Not by singing hymns every Sunday. Not by having faith. Just science. And science is based on facts and logic. Not faith.
So if science is beneficial, why should I engage in religion? What are the benefits of religion as against science?
This why I said you would not understand. Religion and science had totally different purposes. But when you claim that you are smarter than others because they have a religion, that statement is not even based in science and it shows your ignorance.
The purpose of religion is not to build cars, it is to discover the ways of God.

1. So are you saying Yahweh didn’t created everything in the world?
How do you mean?
2. So let me get it right. So if we become good people we'll basically defeat an omniscient and omnipresent devil? Really? How?
Yes we defeat the forces of evil whenever we choose to do good.
3. I'm talking about Adam failing the test Yahweh gave him
Failing a test is never a problem. Peter failed 3 tests yet he was chosen to lead the church. Falling and standing up again is how we learn to walk. God expects us to make mistakes.
4. Ok

Is that your answer? Such lame excuse for not having an idea
My answer is that the problem is with your understanding. You see other people as dumb because they believe in God and you are the one using your brain right?
It's impossible to explain to someone like you, that's the only problem here.

The "economic systems" of Communism and capitalism become religions when they are treated as doctrines and when people are indoctrinated with or into them.

Christianity is a social system. Religion is the process by which it is propagated. Even the education system in Nigeria is taught in a religious manner, which is why we believe instead of seek to understand and know.

But I would understand if you do not know what I am saying.
Your last statement is very funny.
Every religion is a social system. But there is a big difference between an economic doctrine and a religious doctrine.
We also have what we call military doctrine. Just because something is tagged 'doctrine' does not make it a religion.
The problem here is not with my understanding but rather, your definitions.

China is religionised! Their religion is Communism.

Perhaps consider that another word for religion is doctrine. And another word for religionised is (in)doctrinate, which China has very well done, with force.

America too is religionised. Theirs is Capitalism, amongst many others, being the land of the free and the brave where force is unacceptable.

Another word for it is indoctrinated
What are you talking about oga? Communism and Capitalism are economic systems not religions.
In America there is freedom of religion.
If you call capitalism and socialism religions you should write your own dictionary so we begin to depend on your definitions

Lool. We both know that I am not ignorant so stop playing that card. Islamic terrorism has nothing to do with the CIA.
Islam as a religion needs reformation. It needs to get less violent and volatile.
It's always comfortable to blame all our problems on another and fail to take responsibility.
Let's look at Pakistan for example. Their government encouraged terror. It became a den and hiding place for terrorist.
It was ok when these criminals attacked India but today the tide has turned. The terrorists now attack Pakistan.

Christianity Etc › God Did Not Create Good And Evil by tctrills(op): 7:37am On Mar 19, 2023
Good and evil have always been from eternity to eternity.
They were not created and can't be destroyed.
When God created man, he hid the knowledge of Good and evil in a fruit 🍑.
By eating the fruit, man chose to have this knowledge.
Without the knowledge of Good and evil, man cannot become like God.
It was the first step in becoming like our Father in heaven.

What's the difference between an Islamic country and Muslim populated country?

What about Tunisia, Egypt, Senegal, UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Brunei, Kuwait, etc.
The point here is that most of these conflicts are caused by Islamic groups. There are over 200 Islamic groups causing conflict across the world.
Why is it very easy to radicalize and cause violence in the Islamic world?

Karl Marx described religion as the opium of the masses because he viewed it as a tool used by the ruling class to placate and control the working class.

He argued that religion offered false hope to the working class, distracting them from their struggles and providing them with a false sense of security.

Marx believed that religion was used by the ruling class to keep the working class docile and obedient, preventing them from rising up against their oppressors.

What do you think?
China isn't religious yet their masseshave been prevented from rising up against their oppressors.
With or without religion the ruling class would continue to oppress.

At least you are smarter than your theist friend. You are using some part of your brain by thinking slightly outside the box, not wholly outside. But there's a warning: keep thinking outside this box long enough, and you'll end up an atheist. Don't say you weren't warned. Quietly creep inside the safety of that box of religion cheesy
Loool. Everyone uses some part of their brain even you. But the truth is, using the brain does not make one an atheist. And if you honestly believe that the atheistism is the outcome of using your Brian then you are no different from those you accuse.

[quote author=jaephoenix post=121822009]You actually choose to misunderstand me.
1. Who created this world that has it all, the good, the bad, the ugly? Yahweh.
Good and bad are eternal principles. They were not created and can't be destroyed. As we learn to overcome the bad and choose the Good, we grow.
2. Please can you explain how a human that is mortal can overcome an immortal, omniscient, omnipresent monster like the devil. A monster who bides to yahweh's biddings? Don't dodge this question please
Humans are spirit children of God. He is the father of our spirits. As we learn to choose good over evil, wr overcome the powers of the omnipresent monstet
3. Well, it looks like Yahweh was wrong. Cos man fell the test and did not ultimately overcome. Congratulations
What do you mean. Are you saying that you as a man chooses evil? This is a life long test. We learn to overcome evil each day of our lives. Also, remember that the fruit Adam ate was the knowledge of Good and evil. It was not an evil fruit.
4. How do you know there's life after death? Have you been dead and resurrected?
Now this last question is way out of line. As long as our argument has been based on the teachings of the bible, we would depend on what is written in it.
