lawani:You keep giving false information. Who says they can't and wouldn't be stopped if they want to return? Do you have any evidence that the people who chased them in the first place now have a change of heart? If I were a jew, why should I believe you that nothing evil will happen to me if I return to Iran? Oga, provide evidence. Again, not up to 10% of Jews still have family in the Arab world. Please do the maths. If only 20,000 remain and 900,000 left. Please stop spreading falsehood. Since the Arabs will gain from having Jews, why did they chase them away in the first place? Make it make sense. Now, to be Palestinians, do you know that the Palestinians in the West Bank and in Gaza (before the war) live a much better live then you Africans? So when you say, "What is important now is for the Palestinians to live like human beings," what do you even mean? Let me give you figures for pre-war Gaza. lets compare Gaza before the war to Africa. Human Development Index and Life Expectancy. HDI (pre-war) • Gaza (approximate pre-2023 HDI): 0.716 Average HDI of Africa (most recent) • Average HDI across African countries (approximate mid-range from recent UNDP listings): ~0.674 Life Expectancy (pre-war) • Gaza life expectancy (prior to 2023 conflict): ~75.5 years Life Expectancy Average Africa • Average life expectancy in Africa (recent estimate): ~64.2 years Electricity — Pre-war Gaza • Average annual household electricity consumption (approximate Gaza, based on monthly data): ~265 kWh per household per month ≈ 3 180 kWh per year Electricity — Africa average • Average per capita electricity consumption for Africa (entire continent, per person) ≈ 518 kWh per year Water consumption — Pre-war Gaza • Average daily water consumption per person: ≈ 82.7 litres per day Water consumption — Africa average • Average household water use per person: ≈ 47 litres per day (estimated average across Africa) Africans are the ones not living like humans, not Palestinians. These guys, without producing anything, live like kings when compared to us. So, making the claim that people who have a far better life than you are not living like humans is rather shocking. Most Africans would be better off in pre-war Gaza. |
Blizzy300:Don't mind these people. They know nothing but are the first to speak. When it comes to business and investment, no country comes close. |
adrian3000:Abi nah as 9ja na the promiseland. US no reach. |
lawani:Let me ask you, if I chase you out of my village, would you come back just because a total stranger on Nairaland told you it was safe to return, or would you return only after strong assurance from me that it was ok to return? Answer honestly. The Arabs did not chase away the Jews because they had a significant population (even though they had a significant economic presence). But you claim to have some inside information and to know for certain that Jews are wanted back in Arab nations, and for that, you must show evidence. The Jews would be foolish and suicidal to return to a place where they are hated and unwanted. And to be serious, that ship had sailed its not even needed. The Jews were able to take their refugees from all Arab nations and give them a great life; let the Arabs do the same for their Palestinian brothers. Let's take Iraq as a case study to give you an Idea of what happened to the Jews because you clearly dont understand the scale During the 1940s, the Jewish community in Iraq held a significant and disproportionately influential role in the country's economy, particularly in commerce, trade, and banking, but they did not "control" the nation's economy in a structural sense. While constituting a small percentage of the total population, Jews were heavily concentrated in urban centers like Baghdad and Basra, where they played a dominant role in import-export businesses, foreign currency exchange, and the banking sector. Economic Position of Iraqi Jews in the 1940s Commercial Dominance: In the lead-up to World War II and into the 1940s, it is estimated that more than half of Iraq's importers and exporters were Jewish. Banking and Finance: Jews dominated the banking industry, with some of the first banks in Iraq established by them. Trade Networks: Jewish merchants had extensive international trade contacts, particularly with India and Britain. Modernization: The community was instrumental in the modernization of Iraq's economy during the late Ottoman and early British mandate periods. Urban Concentration: Jews made up over 40% of the population in Baghdad in the early 20th century. Education and Language: Due to modernization and, in some cases, the influence of the Alliance Israélite Universelle schools, many Jews were educated, proficient in foreign languages, and well-positioned for international trade. Government Role: While economically powerful, Jews faced increasing political marginalization and anti-Semitic sentiment in the 1930s and 1940s, particularly after the rise of pro-Nazi sentiments The economic prosperity and position of the Jewish community were sharply reversed following the 1941 Farhud (a violent pogrom) and, later, the establishment of Israel in 1948. The Iraqi government subsequently passed laws that froze or confiscated the assets of Jews, particularly those who were forced to flee or were stripped of their citizenship. By the early 1950s, the vast majority of Iraq's 135,000–150,000 Jews had been forced to leave, abandoning assets estimated at roughly $34 billion in modern value. Now you want us to believe that the people of Iraq are ready to accept the Jews and give them back some of the choicest lands in Bagdad? You are also promising us that if the Jews return, no jew will be hurt? That all of a sudden, the Arabs now love the Jews? Oga, are you joking here? |
Jews had minimal presence in Arab land before they left. Their lands if they were farmers are probably left unused presently. They have claims to that lands that they lived on for thousands of years. Nobody can stop them from returning if they want but they feel safer in Israel. There is no need for any Arab leader to make any pronouncement. Sir do you have any evidence of anything you wrote up here or are you just making things up According to you, the very same people that drove Jews out of their lands are now ready to welcome them back with lands and property. You claim that no pronouncement from Arab leaders is needed, that somehow , the Jews should trust you and depend on your assurance of safety. That the people that hated them and chased them now love them and can't wait for their return. Oga, unless you have some evidence backing your words, it will be irresponsible for any Jew to believe you. Does this your theory also apply to India and Pakistan? Would Pakistanis accept, welcome and return land to Indians who fled during the post independence war or is it just an Arab thing? We can't just wake up and make broad sweeping statements without any evidence. Till today, a number of Arab nations will not even grant visas to Jews. So please let's get back to real life and stop making things up. Just because you want something to be that way doesn't make it so. |
lawani:You are saying a lot that is wrong. There are not many Jews in Arab land today. Just 20,000 from the 900,000 that left. You also assume incorrectly that the Arabs would welcome the mass return of Jews. Not one leader in the Arab world has even made such a statement. You also mean that the Arabs would return Jewish land back? Common let's get serious. They only way they can return and feel safe is if they are invited back and all land belonging to them is returned. If Israel allows the Palestinians to return without giving them lands, what are they returning to? Would the live on the streets? Likewise, if the Arabs are not giving back land why would and sane Jew even dream of returning to a land they were driven. The only reason we have this issue ongoing is that the Palestinians have been spoilt. The Europeans and Americans have spoilt them. They have forgotten not to negotiate with terrorists. The Palestinians have almost zero economic value to the world yet before the war, Gaza had a higher development index than Nigeria and most African nations all thanks to the kindness of Europe and America. The west spoilt them so they continue to prolong the nonsense. They are pampered and irresponsible and we continue to make excuses for them |
lawani:Oga, you are passing very false information. The Jews were forced out of the Arab world. Many of them left with just the clothes on their backs. Many were killed, attacked, and raped, and at no time have they been permitted to return. The Jews controled Banking and business in many of these counries but lost everything to the Arabs, Today, not up to 20,000 Jews live in the entire arab world, but 1.2 million Arabs are Israeli. Here are a few links to get you educated on the topic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_exodus_from_the_Muslim_world https://www.europarl.europa.eu/meetdocs/2004_2009/documents/fd/il20062006_07/il20062006_07en.pdf https://www.wsj.com/opinion/many-israelis-are-refugees-from-arab-lands-middle-east-history-9cf540f6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4NjZBD9fW4 Please let's get our facts right. Not one country has returned the Jewish property in Arab land. So, where did you get your info from? Also, how about the Indians and Pakistanis who were displaced? Why are they not fighting each other for their ancestral home? The Palestinians are just a special case. |
lawani:By your argument, the Jews should be fighting all Arab countries that kicked out Jews in the 50s right? Again, how did the land become majority Palestinian? Were the Palestinians invited by the indigenous Jews or did they come and claim a land not minding the rights and desires of the original Jews? Let me use your exact logic, the mass exodus of Arabs from the land of Israel was a result of Arab Israeli wars, and by the decision of the Arabs themselves. Many Arabs were told by their leaders to move and were promised they would return after they destroyed the Jews. You see, you are only interested in seeing the Palestinian side when in fact the Jews suffered the same from the Arabs. Again, let me use your logic. There are still Arabs living in Israel. In fact, 20% of Israel is made up of Arabs. They make up the Supreme Court and all aspects of Jewish society. 800, 000 Jews were kicked out of the Arab world. Less than 100,000 jews live in the Arab world today. 700,000 Palestinians left Israel, Today more than 2.1 million are Israeli citizens. So you are right, it's not the same thing. It's not even close. No, I will not agree with your conclusion. The Palestinians are not doing what anyone in their shoes would do. The people of Bakassi are not committing acts of terror in Cameroon. The Palestinians are a special breed of foolish. They fight, they lose, they fight more and lose more. For more than 70 years, many have tried to appeal to the palestinians so that is not the solution. Bill Clinton did all he could in the Oslo Accords. Nothing works when it comes to these people. |
lawani:Oga the Palestinians were not driven out in 1948, the land was divided among the two groups who were in the land. The entire land of Jordan and about half of present day Israel was given to the Palestinians. So they have no excuse. The same thing happened all over Eastern Europe, it happened in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. It happened in Ethiopia and Eritrea. For the sake of peace, lands have been divided and people had to move from one nation to another, leaving behind ancestry land. It recently happened in Nigeria, remember Bakassi Peninsular. But only the people of Palestine choose to keep fighting till date and you want us to pity them. Again the Jews were not only driven out 2000 years ago. More than half of the Jewish population were driven out of Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia and other Arab countries in the late 40s and early 50s. So those are the people that need our pity not the Palestinians that had a choice but went for war. |
Flangelo12:Oga are you sure you are not talking to spirits? I never asked you to destroy anyone oh. Please who are you responding to since clearing your above comments were for someone else. |
How will you feel if you are driven out of your land that you have lived on for generations and told it is not your land? Always try to empathize with people. Great question, that's exactly the question you should be answering. How do you think the Jews felt when they were driven from their land. And the Jews remaining were treated as second class humans in the land. They were forced to pay jizya to their Muslim and Arab masters. How did the Jews feel when they were driven out of Iran, Iraqi, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Morocco and all other Arab nations. It is actually true that the Palestinian freedom fighters can not lack help. They have people from all over the world supporting them. There is therefore no need to be saying Iran did wrong by supporting them. If no Iran, they would still have gotten help probably from more powerful nations. You really think Iran is helping? They are not. Their actions are making life terrible for the Palestinians |
Flangelo12:We both know that you are saying nonsense but I am used to people like you on nairaland. Your personal attacks are meaningless let's discuss the topic on ground. What has the world benefited from the modern state of Iran? It's a failed nation that brings poverty and destruction to those that embrace it. Just ask the people of Gaza. |
lawani:Your entire premise is wrong. It is not their land. So yes I think they are wrong. Again, Iran's help has only led to more deaths and suffering of the Palestinian people. It was not Iran that brokered the present peace deal or any other peace deal since 1948. It has mostly been the US that you guys love to hate. It's not Iran that feeds, gives medical care or any form of real aid to the Palestinians, it's the US you all hate that does. Iran and Hama's only make things worst for the Palestinians. |
Flangelo12:Of course, you hate and fear opposition, you can never care about me because I don't buy into your falsehood. But I care about you and others like you who have been radicalised because you are a danger to yourself and can easily become a danger to the rest of us. |
Flangelo12:Funny boy. Typical nairalader. You keep avoiding my question by asking meaningless and foolish questions. Every point you raised, I have provided you an answer but somehow, I am the ignorant one. You claim that since 1992, Netanyahu has been claiming to the world that Iran is only 2 weeks away but it was not until last year that he stuck their nuclear stations. This shows that he is very cautious and careful in his actions. Since the 70s the Iranian government has using the most derogatory words on Israel but I don't care about that, I only care about their actions in using terror proxies. What Israel says or what Iran says against each other is not the problem. Iran's actions are the problem. |
Flangelo12:Oga why are you distracting us and changing the topic. Please answer my question, what is your point? Obviously, you hate Israel and the US and you love Iran and Afghanistan but what exactly are you getting to? Are you saying that Iran doesn't sponsor terrorism? |
SmartPolician:Have you been to the Muslim part of your country where till today 14 years old girls are given away in marriage? |
Flangelo12:You mean counties Iranian proxyies have attacked? Please ask your questions clearly. But then again, you have not answered my question, what is your point? Is your point that Iran is this innocent country that is minding it's business and never funded terrorism? As for Israel, it has only attacked evil nations that waged war against it. Israel never attacked Iran until Iran's baby Hama's began to attack it. |
Flangelo12:I read your epistle, now what is your point? The Taliban were ruling Afghanistan before the US came in, The US only fought them because the were housing and protecting Al-Qaeda. Now that is no longer the case, so why should the US remain there. Iran spent billions of dollars in sponsoring terrorists. They did not build Desalination plants to save their people from a water shortage but some how, it's the US fault. Lastly, Gaza used to be far better than Nigerian on the Human development index scale. Life expectancy was in the 70s compared to less than 60 for most African countries. It was paradise when compared to Nigeria and most of Africa. The US was their biggest donor until one day, the decided that terrorism pays better. We both know how that story ended so again. And don't forget, it was the so called evil is that brokered the fragile peace deal they currently enjoy. So, I ask again, what is your point? I forgot to add, Iran is not the only nation that sells oil to China. Do you know other nations that sell oil to China? Nigeria, Saudi Arabia Qatar sells them gas And many more. Australia is the biggest supplier of iron ore and coal to China. Why isn't the US fighting all these people. Your excuse is dead on arrival. |
Flangelo12:As seen in Afghanistan, Gaza, Iran, And many more. |
Host78:That man doesn't deserve respect from even his dog. If the punishment for calling him Mr is a death sentence, you can imagine how dark his heart is. I bet his wife and kids are going through hell. |
budaatum:Let's talk a bit about Italy. No one said Italy has gotten to African bad but did you know that Italy used to have a GDP bigger than the UK? manufacturing was the main driver of their economy. Today, they depend on China for manufactured goods and are poorer then they were 20 years ago. They economy has basically been flat since they outsourced to China. Now to Trump's tariffs. Are there people that the system will not favour? Yes. But it is bringing far more good than bad. Since Trump's tariffs, US exports have grown. More nations are reducing tariffs and buying more made in American goods in order to negotiate with Trump. Also the US FDI has ballooned. Investments are coming in from across the world because it is now more expensive to produce outside the US. Lastly, it is pulling in so much revenue without increasing inflation has expected by the experts. Over to the Nigerian situation. The average Nigerian farmer is extremely poor and just a slight change is enough to destroy him. You clearly don't get it, one out of every 3 workers in Nigeria is a farmer. Protecting them is protecting Nigeria. These are among the poorest Nigerians stepping on their backs for the promise of cheaper products is cruel and it wouldn't even improve anything. If we import everything, how would we grow. So you are hoping that we import toilet roll too? Oga, there should be limits. |
budaatum:Italy used to be a manufacturing world power untill China came alone. I believe that some industries should be protected. More than 30% of the entire labour force are farmers. The moment we outsource that industry, it will be anarchy. It's an unnecessary own goal. We can destroy local agriculture just to please Burkina Faso. |
budaatum:You have convinced me on the electric cars. But I don't think removing tariffs from African products is a great idea. I see it bringing direct competition to our local production. For example, imagine importing cassava from Togo. Imagine what that could do to local farmers. |
lordm:You are right, it's a state but Onitsha is a city. |
Smartguyboy:Oga what are you talking about? |
Smartguyboy:Oga stop saying what you don't know. So far, how many non whites have the revoked their citizenship? Please facts only |
You will need to show the source for this your growing please, because simple searches show otherwise. U.S. economic growth slowed significantly to a 1.4% annualized rate in Q4 2025, down from 4.4% in Q3, driven by reduced government spending and a wider trade deficit. The 2025 full-year growth was 2.2%, the slowest in five years. Data from early 2026 indicates continued, albeit moderated, expansion following 2025's, with{" "} Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) providing interactive, historical charts from 1947–2025 For the economy, this link from the US government website should be okay https://www.bea.gov/news/2026/gdp-advance-estimate-4th-quarter-and-year-2025 The rate of inflation change may have gone down but I hope you know that does not mean costs go down. Like if a thing was ₦100 2 years ago, and inflated by 10% last year so it was ₦110 last year, a reduced 5% inflation this year will add ₦5.5 to the cost this yea so it will now be ₦115.5. When prices go down, it is called deflation and it has a worse effect on the economy than inflation. Japan is a case study. Every economy needs a little inflation to stimulate growth. But if the rate of inflation is more than the rise in wages, people get poorer. That's what happened under the great Biden. I have in fact been thinking about this in anticipation of you asking, and my answer is yes. Tinubu should remove some tariffs because tariffs are stifling our consumption and our growth. And when I talk of tariffs in Nigeria I include the unnecessary cost due to port delays too! The first tariff he should remove is on brand new electric cars and computer equipment (he can keep tariff on tokunbo because they are junk that we must keep out). I agree with you a bit here. But I will not remove tariffs on electric cars or any consumer good. I will only remember tariff on industrial, manufacturing and agricultural equipment. And definitely rice. |
Flangelo12:That's the thing with you kids. You need someone to open your eyes and minds to real life. I understand your reluctance after years of thinking the way you do without anyone challenging you but the more you meet people like us, slowly you will see that all your life, you've lived a lie. Today, what have you learnt. 1. That every nation has a right to deport illegals 2. That it will be considered irresponsible if a leader does nothing about the illegals in his community. 3. That birth right citizenship laws can be changed and that on its own is not wrong. You are welcome bobo. Bye |
Flangelo12:Oga how many other countries have the birthright citizenship? Are you saying US is the only country that knows what's right? Again, you love to derail. It's not about where I have or have not lived. We are discussing if a nation has the right to deport illegals and not where I have lived. Please act your age and stop the childishness. How many countries in the EU have birthright citizenship laws, how about the UK, how about Nigeria? Why should it be wrong to say that hoping on a plane just to give birth in the US should not be enough to make your child a citizen. Why do you boys expect so much more from the US than your own country? |
