AdakaBoro8:trust me, Ijaw and Nigeria as a whole havery no problem with the igbos. I can't remember read anywhere that igbos are killing Ijaws or the other way round. Instead we see our government killing us everyday. The same army that kills innocent people in Ijaw land kills us too in igboland. That's why this online battle is unnecessary. We can always ignor tribalism or talk truth to tribalism. |
SenatePresdo:I would address your points beginning from the last. You say you went down the path of tribalism because of someone's else tribalism. What a sad excuse. Imagine if you had used your positive energy like some of us do, maybe you could have made a difference. Instead, you were influenced by evil and you ended up with the weakness of tribalism. Now to your first piont. Go and research, as of last year the southeast was the safest zone in Nigeria. Before the coming of our unknown gunmen we had Fulani killings and military killings yet less people were killed in igboland than in the west, South or north. Then our Ipob brothers promised us greater peace and suddenly, the south east is the least safe place in southern Nigeria. I choose the army and herdsmen over ipob. It's better for my enemy to kill me than my own brother to stab me. They have turned the southeast to a prison. We used to be a free and independent people. Now we must sit at home to please ipob. Have you asked why the Ijaws and ikweres our close neighbors are not sympathetic to us? |
otokx:I gave no problem if it is built with private money not public funds or worse still borrowed funds. |
ppogba:My point remains valid; high risk. rail is bad business today. true some genius could turn it around but for now, it is a waste of money even in developed nations. |
Suicide is very overpowering. All you see is darkness and hopelessness. |
Imagine if the owners of this company were part of the Nairaland tribal fight between Yoruba and Igbo would they have achieved anything? Tribalism is for lazy fools |
SocialJustice:I don't agree with you. True, a private company would run our rails more efficiently, still, it's a very big risk. High-speed rail is only profitable in 2 countries, Japan, and France. the problem was building them in the first place. |
ivolt:First, it is not cheap. Lagos to Ibadan by rail is more expensive than on road. Secondly, why build rails if they are very unprofitable why not just build roads. Third, the rails were built with borrowed money so we need money to maintain them and money to repay the loan. who advised us to build rails in the first place. It's very easy to take a loan, but we needed real leaders to chat the path for our economy not the kind of men we have in Aso rock. |
SocialJustice:would you want to buy a business that makes 1.13billion but costs you 61 billion to run? Not to forget the railway has outstanding loans to be paid |
christejames:elections are not only about winning. Maduka is giving the Anambra people a choice. Of all the candidates, none has more for his people than this man |
AdakaBoro8:My guy, I am an Igbo man. I just want to beg you not to fall into this trap of tribalism. it is terrible that many Nigerian youths have fallen for it while the ruling class rejoices. I see no reason for these online tribal conflicts. |
SenatePresdo:That's the problem with many of us Igbos. Now you have divided us into Igbos outside and Igbos within. Cant we Igbos ever discuss without creating divisions. The killings by the Nigerian army is terrible. There are so many things wrong with the Nigerian Army but ESN did not say enough is enough, they only made it worst. More Igbos die every day since these terrorists came on board. Unless you are deceiving yourself, you would agree with me that Igboland has become much more unsafe since your ESN friends came on board. Yesterday it was Ebonyi, today, it's Anambra, less than a week ago it was Akunyili. There are killings in Imo every other day. I honestly prefer how things were before the stupidity of ESN. I believe you are being naive to believe that ESN is the security solution for the southeast. And my friend Senate Presdo, I can see that you are having issues with an Ijaw man on this thread, when would this tribalism end? Ijaws are bad, Yorubas are evil, hausas are terible haba. The biggest problem of we Igbos is tribalism. we hate everyone. It's affecting our politics. If you know your history, you would understand why Ijaws don't trust Igbos. |
noleflendum:Tribalism is a weakness. I don't know your tribe but if you believe in change and progress, you wouldn't give place to tribalism. The Igbos are not your problem, your government is your problem. Our leaders get excited when young men like you miss the mark and begin to fight your fellow Nigerians. This is what they want, you are a pawn in their hands |
davinchecodes:We played into the hands of the government. What did you expect? At first, it was interesting like an American film. We were hailing the Esn and unknown gunmen. Now we do not know who is committing the murders anymore. When some of us warned on Nairaland and Twitter we got abused by fellow Igbos. You guys were quick to call us Hausas or bastards. Now the southeast has become like Borno. Coming home for Christmas is a risk. Igbo businesses are becoming less competitive and eastern Nigeria is becoming one of the worst places to live in West Africa. If the military is guilty of these murders, it's because we gave them an excuse. We are making the very same mistake our fathers made in 1966 all over again. |
SenatePresdo:And biafrans are dilusional. Biafra is a country without a currency, with a ragtag group as its army, with a president in life imprisonment, with a dependent economy... do I go on? I am sure you were not born during the war in the 60s so you have no understanding of what the Igbos went through. If we make the same mistake because of people like you and kanu, it would be a double shame. Do you think the terror of unknown gunmen would make buhari agree to biafra? who are we fooling? As I said, you are an adult so you decide who to follow. Thanks to people like you, the unknown gunmen have gotten bolder. many of us would not be coming home for Christmas. If this is the biafra you dreamt of then congrats to you. |
SenatePresdo:Actually, it's the other way round. You got it all wrong. My opinion matters. it's your opinion and that of iPod that doesn't matter. The entire world recognizes Nigeria, not biafra or ipob. So you see whose opinion doesn't matter? The great Ojukwu ran for Nigerian Presidency in 2003. He was buried by the Nigerian army, not by ipob. Kanu the biafran president was picked in a prostitute's room in Kenya. The Kenyans did not recognize his opinion. And it's a pity you think I am a coward for not going to war with ipod. well if that is what you think, I can't help you. |
SenatePresdo:They don't live in my area. And I don't associate with criminals. I believe you are a grown up. You are old enough to decide your country. But something tells me that you would need a Nigerian passport and biafran if ever you travel to another country |
Olaoluwa112:You are free to support anything you wish but then are these unknown gunmen not also our fellow igbos? |
Iyaomolere4:I am igbo but not in support of biafra. But then I must ask you, how is it illegal to Don any flag in Nigeria. Is there a law against the biafran flag? I believe we can't keep living in the past. We should move forward and become a free nation. People shouldn't be arrested for a flag abeg |
SenatePresdo:If you truly believe what you just wrote, go and say it in front of a military Barack. Biafra is only a country on the Internet. |
TMKsouth:Who is to decide what the balance should be? That's why I keep mentioning innovation. Unless renewable tech becomes cheaper and better, coal and oil would continued to be burnt. Hence the salvation of our planet lies in the hands of scientists, startups and innovators not government or policies. |
TMKsouth:I agree with you. It would be foolish for south Africa to stop power production just to please the climate. But like I said, innovation is the only way out. |
Ladumaa:You think Buhari would ever release him? I don't think Kanu would leave the prison alive |
If only we all can find the strength to say sorry when we are in the wrong. |
Shetemi12:My dear some of us here have jobs. Don't think everyone on nairaland is jobless. From your comments it seems you are trying to defend someone who is trying to defend stupidity. And you even did a better job than him |
Abagworo:And now we are discriminating against Anambra. Maybe we should leave out Anambra from biafra |
TMKsouth:I agree with you to a large extent. But we must note that at the understanding of climate change is relatively new. I also believe so much in innovation. As technology improves, the cost of renewable would fall. Don't forget that China makes the cheapest solar panels and China is among the top 3 in offshore wind farms. To me, government has very little to do here. Let's leave it for innovators and business. They would always find a way make this work |
BKayy:I believe the governor is correct. Many igbos look down on Ebonyi and consider them lesser igbos. Do you remember the time Anambra, government changed the name ofor a street from abakalili steel to club street? You need to read that thead on nairaland. You need to see what fellow igbos said about ebonyi. Again why is it that you guys get angry with any igbo that doesn't believe in biafra. I thought biafra was supposed to be a free state with free thinkers. We igbos are a diverse people. The average igbo was not born in the 60s. A good percentage of igbo were born outside the southeast. |
The Buhari government has always been looking for an excuse to take over the east. The unknown gun men have finally given them the excuse. So all of you hailing the activities of unknown gunmen are a big part of the problem |
akinmusi:The alternative may be more gloomy. Would you rather the company goes out of business and plunge the nation into darkness? |
JaneYave:What is wrong with you? Must you always do this childish men vs women thing. We see a foolish lady, limiting her chances and making a fool of herself but you are only interested to creating a scene. Would you employ this girl if she walks into your cooperation? With her own hands, she has written the worst cv ever. Would you allow your brother to bring her into your family? |
RiceProducers:Please stop advising others. You go ahead and start. You could be the one that would crash the price of flour. But then, I guess you have not tried to start a business in 9ja. If you have, you would know that this country hates startups. You can't move goods without spending like crazy on the road, there is always one more agency to pay, 9ja is the world's headquarters of touts and you need to settle them, then gov policy would change at any time and make it worst for the business. But then. Like I said you just might be the lucky one. |
