Christianity Etc › Re: The Devil Was A Murderer From The Beginning. Please Explain John 8:44 by tctrills(op): 11:54am On Aug 01, 2025
jesusjnr2020:
The things of the Spirit are difficult for the carnal mind to comprehend...

The devil took man's eternal life in the beginning, hence killed every human both living and unborn with that single strike. That's the death God warned man about if he ate of that forbidden tree, because man was not meant to die at all but live forever. Genesis 2:17

So that's how the devil became a murderer from the beginning. He took man's eternal life.

God bless.
Great answer, but is your answer backed by the scripture, or is it your personal opinion?

Trump should stop behaving like a silly kid. No one gives a damn about his damn tariffs. We hardly export anything anyway so what’s the noise about? The rest of the world will trade with each other and leave American behind.
Global economics is beyond what you think or what you wish for. The US just made 30 billion dollars from tariffs this July. Almost all nations are rushing to make deals with Trump.
The EU and Japan have committed to import more from the US and to invest billions into the US in just the last 10 days.
No body is leaving the US behind. They can't afford to.
Please wake up to reality.

well Cain was the first murderer and lied about knowing where his brother was, there was sin in him and right he was going to rule or Lord over sin or sin over him. He was cast out from God's presence 🤔
So why is the Devil called the murderer not Cain. That was my question. Is Cain the devil?
Christianity Etc › The Devil Was A Murderer From The Beginning. Please Explain John 8:44 by tctrills(op): 2:24am On Aug 01, 2025
John 8:44 says
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.
He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own:
for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Please explain why the devil is called a murderer from the beginning. Who did he kill? Please use the scripture in your explanation.

Trust me, your post did not change a thing. The next hippo will be eaten up.
It will be much more useful if you create the marine ecosystem reserve yourself than posting to tell others to do it.
I am just trying to encourage you, if you really love the hippos, do something about it don't just post. For me, I am looking forward to adding hippo meat to my count.

Did Hamas and the so-called Palestinians not reject the 1947 UN Partition Plan that offered them a state alongside Israel? Instead of building their future, they teamed up with five Arab armies and tried to wipe Israel off the map in 1948, and they failed.

These same Palestinians have repeatedly refused peace deals and two-state offers for decades. So why the sudden backpedaling? Lol
What do these Islamist groups really want? It’s not peace, they’ve made that clear.

There has never been a country called Palestine, and the idea of carving one just to give terrorists a launching pad is likely never going to happen.
We both know that the 2 state solution is just a waste of and would not work.

The first port used in Lagos by the Portuguese was Ebutte Metta controlled by the Awori Oloto of Oto who was under Alaafin Oyo

That was in the late 14th Century and 15th Century

Benin joined the cashing out party late
No, the first port in Lagos was established by the Oba of Benin.

But then, the first organized trading port in Lagos was developed much later, by European powers, especially the Portuguese in the 15th century, followed by the British in the 19th century.

The British established a formal port and customs system after they annexed Lagos in 1861. The Port of Lagos as a colonial and commercial institution began to take shape in the late 1800s to early 1900s.

So it was basically a local, unimportant port under the Benin Oba and later under the Awori

This is essentially false!

Even if the subsidy wasn't removed we'll still need to back the $ with funds! Let the market take over! With time it will normalise!
Your loans and policies are making Nigerians poorer. There is no evidence that your economy will normalise or that you can manage your debts.
Let's take a look at your debt servicing alone.
According to various reports from sources like the African Development Bank (AfDB) and analyses from media outlets citing the Debt Management Office (DMO), here's a breakdown.
Nigeria spent a total of N13.12 trillion on debt servicing in 2024. This represents a substantial 68% increase from the N7.8 trillion recorded in 2023. This figure also surpassed the budgeted allocation of N12.3 trillion for the year.
Debt servicing costs reached 4.1% of Nigeria's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2024, up from 3.7% in 2023
The debt servicing-to-federal government revenue ratio stood at 77.5% in 2024, a slight rise from 76.8% in 2023. This indicates that over three-quarters of the federal government's revenue went towards servicing its debt obligations.
Domestic Debt Service: N5.97 trillion, a 14.15% rise from 2023.
External Debt Service: $4.66 billion (equivalent to approximately N7.15 trillion at an exchange rate of N1,535.32/$1), a sharp increase of 167% from 2023.

My brother, even the sources in Wikipedia cannot be trusted when it comes to religion. The whole history began to be doctored and was stained as soon as the Roman empire adopted Christianity. They also forged the sources to back up the lies. That's how deep it goes, and it will take you 2-3 years of research to unentangle the lies from the facts.

The truth about Christianity lies before the Roman empire adopted the religion, in fact, the message of the real Christians barely survived in the Bible.

In addition to what I told you to research earlier, if you want to know that you've been lied to, research the history of religion. How did humanity come about the concept of God?

Should you be interested, I have lots of books to share on history; including history of religions, and I'll send them to you for free if you you want
Do you listen to yourself? I should not trust Wikipedia, but I should completely trust you, an unknown stranger, and your sources. Again, I ask, can you present your sources? Since you claim I am being lied to, can you link me to your historian and their evidence?

Why is it too hard for you to show a single source that claims the Gnostic text is older than the New Testament?

Again you are not being serious. Wikipedia has footnotes and is very transparent with it's sources.
And I promise to read the entire Gnostic text today but all I need you to do is link me to your historians that claim it is older than the new testament.
I hope you understand that it would be a complete waste of time reading it if it is not older than the books in the new testament.

That's the reason you need to pick up history books because Gnosticism predate Christianity. But it was flipped by Rome in order to say that the Gnostics didn't believe those things before Christianity!

The Gnostic texts were written later 2nd–3rd century while the new testament was mostly written in the first century

The New Testament was written by eyewitnesses (e.g., Matthew, John, Peter) or their close associates (e.g., Luke, Mark, Paul).

Gnostic texts were written later (2nd–3rd century), anonymously, and were rejected by early Christians as heretical.

The first century Christians believed something different than you believe today. The findings are in the Nag Hamadi papers found in Egypt in about 1950's or thereabout.

Pick up history books.
Keep fooling yourself. Is your Nag Hamadi paper older than the new testament? Was it written by the first century Apostles?
Any idiot can write anything but then again, the best place to learn about the first century church is from their most recognized record called the New Testament.

The New Testament was written by eyewitnesses (e.g., Matthew, John, Peter) or their close associates (e.g., Luke, Mark, Paul).

Gnostic texts were written later (2nd–3rd century), anonymously, and were rejected by early Christians as heretical.

It's easy and foolish to say someone doesn't know his believes just because your initial argument was dead on arrival.
Again there are hundreds of historians that support my argument.
But then no historian can give a better record of the first century church than the first century christians themselves.

One of the problems of Christianity is the way it gives you people such audacity to boldly spread falsehood unknowingly.

HISTORICALLY, the first Christians you alluded to did not even believe the same Jesus you believe today. For them Jesus was neither man nor woman. He was a kind of magico-mysthical Christ, he appears and disappears, had no place like a house where you can meet him.

Those early Christians were not called Christians. History refers to them as the Gnostics and they just met at any "gathering place" not a church.

You said the Greeks call it "Catholic" , so that answers your question. The full name is Roman Catholic.

Yes, they evolved and later only began to be called Christians in Turkey. Today, they're mostly called MUSLIMS.

Rome was the first to actually organize it as a body, the same way the ancient Egyptians did..... but that's a different story
Again, you are so wrong. We have the records of the first Christians. It is called the New Testament. The first Christians believed what I believed and luckily enough, the wrote down their beliefs.
It's not fair or wise to make unfounded statements.
You are wrong again in believing that Rome was the first to organize the church. The writings of the Apostles educate us enough on the history of the early church.
We have the works of John, Paul and the rest.
Put yourself in my shoes, who do I believe, you an unknown entity on Nairaland or the Apostles of Jesus Christ?
No reasonable person should believe anything you wrote. Hope you understand that you have zero credibility in the matter.
The early Apostles have a lived experience unlike you who woke up one morning and decided to create your alternate history.

Jehovah's witness and the rest are all based on the same thing- falsehood. Jesus never existed!

Having said that, the only group of Christians that should be considered real (if any) should be Roman Catholics because at least they started Christianity before you all, and it was from them that you all branched away from. So, Jehovah's witness has no chance of being the real Christians. And if you knew the history of Christianity you won't say that
Sir your understanding of christian history is not correct. The Roman Catholic church is the oldest existing church but it was not the first Church.
Christ established his church through is Apostles in Jerusalem notin Rome.
The Roman Catholic church came much later. It became the strongest and most prominent after it secured the backing of the Roman empire. Other early churches slowly faded away.
Till today, the Greek catholic church claims to be older.
The church came to the Greek world (Antioch, Alexandria, and Constantinople) before getting to Rome.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did God Forbid Adam And Eve From Eating The Fruit Of Good And Evil? by tctrills: 3:59am On Jul 28, 2025
Earthkumy:
Why did God forbid Adam and Eve from eating the fruit of good and evil?

Journey with me

They were instructed not to eat from this specific tree, but they could eat from any other tree. There was no instruction against eating the fruit of life, so they were free to eat it.

The fall of Adam led humanity into a state of struggle, where people had to choose between good and evil. Before, humans didn't struggle with this; their actions were perfect. After the fall, humans had to make tough choices between good and evil.

To help humanity, God gave the Law of Moses to distinguish between good and evil. However, people struggled to practice good alone because good and evil seemed closely linked. This law prepared the chosen people for the coming of Jesus, who would restore the fruit of life and help people move beyond the knowledge of good and evil.

The world prides itself on its ability to practice good and resist evil, judging itself by its own standards. But God wants something more for humanity - eternal life. Jesus said He is eternal life, and to have this life, people must surrender their knowledge of good and evil and follow Him.

Many Christians today focus on the knowledge of good and evil rather than eternal life, which is why their faith seems lacking. I, Eze Chukwu, call on pastors, prophets, and other church leaders to let go of worldly pride and seek to practice the simplicity of Jesus' gospel.

Many of us are loved by the world because we fit in, but Jesus calls for repentance, even from the Church. It starts with each of us.

Lord, guide us back to You, and help us not to be swayed by the world. Restore the Holy Spirit in us all, in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

Yours in the vineyard
Pastor Eze Chukwu
