nemesis2u: did u know that shipborne ECM jammers r used to break target lock of the active seekers of AShMs.
unfortunately much of this is classified Yes, I have read it somewhere. I have a declassified PDF of the DOD on ECM. |

nemesis2u: edited my post first post
40 KW upwards is for smaller ships like frigates etc (not necessarily though) Okay then I think the issue here is that a ship can radiate 40k but the same ship can have its radar jammed by an airborne electronic warfare aircraft saturating 3kw of noise power. |

nemesis2u: lol
unfortunately that EW post will take some time more
but i got a clue for u , which should get ur lazy ass moving
a ship borne ECM jammer can radiate more than 40,000 watts of power ( lowest estimate ) do u think a aircraft borne jammer can deliver enough power to chew through that ?
I doubt if an airborne ECM jammer will ever do such. The AN-ALQ99 radiates less than 7000watts. |

unclezuma: Exactly the question I was asking the dude earlier was the process these people use in "acquiring" equipment for the military. Those are Nigerian made patrol boats made by Epenal Group. I don't know the process government use in acquiring military equipment for military proposes. However, for a small patrol boat like that, I don't think it's going to be a big deal. Speaking about the ships Tompolo got, they are demilitarized ex warships but for such to be able to get into the Nigerian waters,it means the government knows something about it or such person owns a license for that. |

Henry240: In my opinion, if the economy does not grow to a certain stage, say 800 billion dollars and our threats continue to be a LICW sort of threat the likely hood of Nigeria buying another multi-role jet apart from the JF-17 is very, very slim. The growth rate isn't even much now. What of the Navy? Are we expecting more vessels? |

jakeporeshenko: You too like this plane.... I don't think NAF has ever shown interest in it. I wonder what NAF has against Russian fighters. I once read somewhere that there was a political issue between Nigerian and Russia/Soviets arriving from the sale of mig-21s back in days Our best shot for Air superiority or additional multirole fighters(I will be so glad to see additional aircraft operating with the jf17) will be from Russia. China can't offer anything else apart from the J10 for now as her flankers are not for sale. |

I was able to meet with the man who works with AVIC. He showed me some pictures and production video but he wouldn't send me any to share.
I talked about the similarities with the FTC 2000 and he assured me that is a different aircraft entirely. I saw some blueprints and with what I noticed, some equipments locations on the aircraft demanded some slight change in design and a very close look at it still shows that the JF17 airframe.
With what I saw, they produced not just one yet but 2 or (probably more than) because I noticed another in a hanger in one ofthe videos. Most of the pictures and video he showed me has the JF17B in its yellow prototype colour.
The Aircraft looks superb and I am impressed.
I wish I could get some pictures but it wasn't just possible. The Chinese seems to be very secretive and protective when it comes to hardware. I have friends here who talk about how Shenyang Aircraft Cooperation doesn't allow phones in some area during project classes. |

lionel4power: my original post was (((anything less than an AESA is totally rubbish. ))) but you accused me of saying bullshit. and then I asked you to prove me wrong.
instead you wrote a long post ABOUT PROVING ME RIGHT hahahah telling the good features of an AESA radar collectively known as APAR.
... using reversed psychology on me...
well atleast it shows that you are quick on your feet and not a slowpoke.
I still maintain my stance that the AESA beats any other radar type from 1900 till 2017.
anyway I would have love to write a long post like you too now but my computer is down at the moment and I hate typing on phone.
I just have 3 things for you
no 1) ALL RADARS HEATS UP no 2) I KNOW YOU JUST WENT ON GOOGLE COPY SOME STUFF AND PASTE HERE no 3) YOU CAN YOU USE AN AESA AS A FAST NETWORK WIFI (Am sure you didny know that)
When my computer is charged I'll respond to you properly at the other thread. You should know AESA radars have issues with cooling.. I don't type based on Google knowledge as I'm not a fan boy like you. I don't go on argument about what I have no first hand knowledge about and if I'm to do that, I'll back it up with a source. Your post says anything less than AESA is totally rubbish. I'll take that as your opinion and not as a fact. The advantages of an AESA radar on others isn't speed but its beam agility and its ability to emit EM WAVES based on its thousands of modules. (Telling me it's as fast as a Wi-Fi is out of it by which you're trying to say it's faster than others? ( Are you going against the law of physics?) |

lionel4power: am still waiting for you to refute my claim instead you just keep talking EVERYTHING EXCEPT that one thing.
BTW I dont condemn peoples opinion instead I try to encourage it which is why you people always attack me on this thread or have you forgotten?
I like healthy conversations Each program needs to consider its requirements, budget, schedule, and risks when deciding whether to use or not to use a particular type of radar. If I am to find a disadvantage/disadvantages for the AESA, I'll say price but I'll surely find a radar that does perfectly what an AESA will also do except for those that I'll mention below. AESA generate alot of heat the ones in use by US of A make use of polyalphaolefin (PAO) coolant similar to a synthetic hydraulic fluid to cool the array. The reliability of the GaAs (Gallium Arsenide) MMIC that the array uses is significantly impacted by the temperature they run at. Ratheon currently has an AESA radar that works based on GaN (Gallium Nitride) due to its more effective nature and this means a more expensive radar. Those are the disadvantages I can sight for the AESA. I'll love to mention some advantages the AESA may have which are; 1) Low possibility to Intercept . 2)Agile radar beam therefore giving it the advantage to spread it's beams across a large frequency.( This gives it the chance to track more targets) 3) it's solid state semi conductors module that can be repaired gradually. Leaving all these, I do not see where other types of radar are lacking. I have just mentioned those things the AESA have as an advantage so I'm waiting for you to tell me how these makes other radars total rubbish. I agree AESA is a good radar , what I'm against is your saying others are total rubbish. |
