You don't like the Gripen? I find it to be quite attractive, Infact, fighter aircrafts with canards are quite beautiful, look at the Rafale or J-10. The Gripen is a JF-17 from the west, very similar in capabilities all round.

Those RSA boys apart from thier ignorance always find anything from Nigeria an opportunity to initiate an argument , hence I always come in hot, fast and furious right back at even the slightest provocation.

My hope is that NAF gets at least 20 units of the block II model. Although my mind is saying we might settle for 18 Max.

That's also my fear. I hope it doesn't happen though, as it would be a massive disappointment for me.
I like the Gripen but I think I'll prefer the j10. The j10 however has a low range but the gripen price is too high and also has a higher flying cost per hour than the J10.

After getting 20 Jf17, I hope we proceed with another aircraft. The Russian will be willing to sell the T50. T50 costs $50M per unit and that's equivalent to the price of a gripen.

AC-130 Spooky wink wink

I will forgive the Turcano if we get just one of those...BHT Game Over.
They'll need to fly low to engage BHT. They're more vulnerable to AA fire which means we will need them to fly night missions more.

Punchline : Uncle Sam won't sell.

To those saying the CH3 are not operational.
Boko Haram: Air force introduce drones and L-39ZA aircraft
Intelligence shows locations of insurgents
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Wednesday said it has introduced an Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) and L-39ZA fighter aircraft into the ongoing fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the Northeast.

During a press conference in Yola to give an giving an appraisal of the operations of the NAF in the first quarter of 2017, the Air Component Commander (ACC), Operation Lafiya Dole, Air Commodore Charles Owho said the introduction of the new platforms was necessitated by the enlargement of the NAF Area of Responsibility (AOR).

The additional platforms deployed would join the now ageing Alpha jets, F9 jets, Mi 35 helicopters which have been in action since the beginning of the war on the insurgency. Already the UCAV CH-3A has already conducted Air Interdiction on March 27, 2017.

Air Commodore Ohwo also revealed that several Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations by the NAF has revealed that following the fall and capture of the insurgents former headquarters in Camp Zairo, most of the fighters fled to the West of Sambisa stretching up to the Southwest of Maiduguri and into Yobe State, while some others had moved to the East and Southeast of Sambisa towards Gwoza Hills and Tagoshe Hills.

Owho said the Air Component of Operation Lafiya Dole has concentrated its air power the areaswith a view to further decimating the remaining BHT elements and facilitating the activities of own surface forces in the area.

In a series of air operations including Air Interdiction, Close Air Support for ground troops, Air Recce, Combat Air Patrol and ISR, the ACC said the Air Component has successfully prevented the regrouping of Boko Haram Insurgents while providing effective air cover for ground troops for clearance operations.

Among the operations conducted by the Air Component was the provision of daily air support for clearance operation in the south-west of Maiduguri at Boko Haram camps in Talala and Ajigin.

At the same location, on February 1, 2017, Alpha jets provided Close Air Support for ground troops to repel an attack from Boko Haram. Also, operations conducted by the troops of 21 brigade of 7 Division also provided ISR for the clearance operations in Ngoshe and Mabila high grounds.

Also, the ISR platform also conducted various operations in Arege, northern Borno where a platoon of Boko Haram insurgents was sighted. “Our ISR aircraft maintained visual over BHTs in Arege and tracked them as shown on the screen. The BHTs took advantage of poor visibility and the terrain to escape imminent air strikes.

“However, the efficient communication of the ISR ac with MNJTF forces eventually led to the dislodgement of the terrorists in a firefight. In this encounter, about 57 terrorists were killed and many injured while technical, weapons and ammo were recovered,” Ohwo said.

Come now, not all NA APCs have comms. The friendly fire incident where 2 STTEP contractors died was because of lack of comms. Yes it's improved since then, but based on the pics, there's still a way to go.
All NPF APC are equipped with Radio coms including the hilux but some of them do not have visible antenna. I don't know how but I have seen alot of NPF vehicle with Radio coms and no visible antenna.

There's a video of a NA Reva on YouTube with no visible antenna but the inside shows mobile radio comms.
Therefore the above picture doesn't mean the Reva posted by Henry isn't equipped with Radio coms.

I'll check for the video again and post here. I think it's the one by 72mobile

Who said there are no coms? There's a report from DHQ or NA on the coms so I think you're wrong.

Seen some US MRAPS with antennas not visible.

We made a perfect choice, hence I've always defended the purchase over the Su-30 many Nigerian Defence enthusiastis prefer.

The JF-17 and Gripen are the same thing. The Gripen only costs as much as it does because it is Western.

I've read enough on the JF-17, and I always knew we were getting an excellent fighter that more than exceeds our requirements. If only we could order at least 20 units.
They are truly expensive due to their origin. Just like the typhoon, It's actually a great aircraft and still expensive when compared to Russian aircrafts in her league.

I see nothing special with the gripen. It's origin being from the west makes the internet warriors from RZA find non western aircrafts to be inferior.

I think the jf17b production Is the one slowing down orders from NAF.After receiving the 3 jf17, NAF should be able to go for additional orders from next year's budget. I however think NAF will go slow on aircrafts if we received the 3 jf17 , 12 Tucanos from US and the ones from Brazil. In as much as I want them to go for additional units of the jf17, I still have a feeling naf may feel too okay with the amounts of aircrafts available therefore stalling further others on the thunder.

Dude, what did the AVIC engineer say? Please reply me here.
He said the aircraft is perfect. I explained to him some people find it to be inferior to its counterparts and he said he knows and the reasons are
1) Western Media influence in downgrading Chinese products.
2) They are surprised an excellent aircraft could go down at that price. He said the block 3 with more better avionics such as radar etc will be more expensive but on it's own, it's a perfect aircraft.

We then talked about aerodynamics, that was when he showed me videos of the jf17 performing some aerobatic moves.

The aircraft is an excellent fighter he said.

Back to the JF17 thunder. You seem to be good at debate. I'm offering you a chance to argue reasonably with facts. Tell me how the JF17 is a junk and I'll be ready to counter you with facts.

I haven't seen the aircraft before but I have seen videos of it in test flight from someone who worked on the aircraft. An Engineer with AVIC. In his words the JF17 is an excellent aircraft.

I have had some discussion with him on the aircraft. He was plain as he discussed both good and bad. He couldn't say much tho I guess due to personal reasons.

Now I want you Mr ITK, google is my best friend to tell me how the aircraft is a junk.

The J11 is an air superiority fighter while the j16 is a multirole.

12 of these will go for 384M USD or 420M USD at maximum.

Tucano...I didn't have interest b4
that $600mil tag was d last straw that broke the camel's back
What happened to the Chinese j11. Their flankers variaints? we're using Chinese mig 21 variants already.

The fact is people from the west are eating us up. Except NAF is expecting 25 aircrafs from US, the 600M USD is too much.
Henry said the Russians flanker have high operational cost so I'll just go for the Mig35, J10, J11, SU34 and probably more jf17.

I have seen the J11 do fly by and do aerobatic moves so I'll say it's a nice aircraft.

Anyway, it's our opinion. Those guys at DHQ, NAF HQ are not thinking like us.
