MaxInDHouse: God only punished the Commander issuing orders to soldiers (if he did not change his attitude) but as for his people God will not punish them for the order comes from just one man. God's word never supported humans giving orders to humans as rulers because the consequences is grievous! Ecclesiastes 4:1, 8:9 Rubbish God hardened pharaoh’s heart so he wouldn’t let the Israelites go, then the same god killed the first son of all Egyptians for something he caused. If god can kill children, then who are adults that he cannot kill |

Politics › Re: Olusegun Osoba: How Fake News From Foreign Media Triggered 1967 Civil War by Techguy96(m): 2:40pm On May 30, 2021 |
LegendHero: Many things led to the civil war Chief Osoba, do you want to say you don’t know history or you’re just trying to be politically correct?
Often many people believed the killing of Saraduana and Balewa are what led to the North uprising against the Ibos in the North but this is half truth. The Unitary decree of Aguiyi Ironsi caused as much harm as the coup. Infact, it was what led to the initial killing of Ibos in the North, and gave the fertile ground for the counter-coup.
I will give timelines of events below, if anyone need proof of any of the point I raise I will provide it.
Besides the killings of other tribesleader by the majorly coupist of Jan 1966 which everyone knows, the below are some other side of the story.
Decree of 1966: --May 1966, Ironsi announced that the regions are dissolved and there will be unification of the Public Service. -- Note: The Ibos have the highest number of civil service candidates then and they are more itinerant than other group, which implies that decree will favor them. --That decree was popular in the East and the Northerners received it as a blow on them and an act of marginalization against them because they have low number of civil servant. Remember Saraduana video that was trendy then. --To crown the fears of the Northerers, General Ironsi announced the unification decree while the constitutional report group he set up under the chairmanship of Chief Rotimi Williams haven't concluded their report yet. So he acted on this own.
Riots due to the Decree: --May 28,1966, A massive demonstration of about 20,000 people held against Ironsi decree in Kano which was organized to present a petition by the military authorities through the Emir of Kano. Slogans used were "Pure Federalism or We Bust", "We denounce abuse of power", We Separate Clearly". Infact that was when the North preached secession. 7 people were reportedly killed that day
Kano, Kaduna, and mining centers of Jos and Bukuru again protested with violence with placards saying "Let there be seccession". Infact over 92 people were killed in that weekend demonstration. They burnt Southerners quarter, houses and over-turned cars. Ironsi replied to the protest by saying he will declare certain area military areas, replace civil court with military court, and death penalty to anyone causing destruction in the North. He also accused the Arab world of being behind the protesters coz they are friends to Saraduana.
In June 1966, The government declared Dusk to Dawn curfew and these riots and killing still continued with rumors in the North that the Ibos will counter-attack. I don't know if Chief Osoba is referring to this.
--Over 100 emirs and Chiefs in the North gave an ultimatum to the Ironsi government to reject the decree. The resolution was presented by the 65-year old Sultan of Sokoto then who is also the uncle of Saraduana where they demanded Nigeria should stay Federal, and old boundaries should remain as before.
--The progom continues with several Ibos being killed across the North. The North sensed domination of the Ibos because the constitutional study group haven't submitted their report yet but Ironsi still abolished the system. Then the sentiment is that Ironis is running a Ibo regime just like people are talking about Fulani regime now. Gombe, Katsina, Bauchi also joined in the attacks mainly against the Ibos.
Counter Coup: --July 1966, the mutineers arrested Ironsi and later killed him which set the ball rolling for more violent attacks here and there. Brigadier Ogundipe who is the Chief of Staff to Ironsi made a broadcast saying the military is still in control with but what happened in few days after showed that the mutineers want none of Ironsi regime and are all out for revenge. Cut story short, Gowon took power.
--Aug 1966, Gowon took power as a Northerner, first it is decisive, he is a Christian and he is from the minority so he is seen as a great asset not only in Uniting the North as a common force but also to appear to the South as being relatively acceptable. Then he ordered the release of Awolowo, Enahoro and other political prisoners which was a masterstroke, now you have the buy-in of some Awo symphatizers who are by far the vast majority of the Yorubas and some of the Edo areas.
All these contributed to other riots, killings, thousand Ibos killed in the North, Ibos retaliated in Port Hacourt killing 25 Hausas, plane evacuating Ibos, and eventually the civil war as the ending game. So why didn’t Gowon reverse Ironsi declaration instead separated the country more into states |

Hiswordxray: Matthew, Mark and the other understood that the Greek language was the most widely used in writing during the Greco-Roman period. And they were writing to the people in the Greco-Roman world. So they figured the best language to write it is Greek. And moreover, they don't need to write it themselves. They could get a scholar and dictate so that he could write it in Greek.
Paul and Luke were the only ones that could write in Greek. That is why Paul wrote most of the books of the New Testament. U said they understood that Greek was the most widely use language, were u in their thought process, how did u know what they figured out or did not figure out, u first paragraph was mere assumptions. I could also assume a Greek scholar wrote the New Testament n it was just mere literature n story taken to far by the Roman Catholic. I agree with ur second paragraph but common, read Paul’s teaching very well, just look at the examples above on his opinions about women. To be honest Paul’s teacher were mainly his opinion n laws of Israel has nothing to do with Jesus. |

Wiseandtrue: Something of this magnitude would have been written in the Bible!
Probably it happened when he (Solomon) was misled by the so many women in his life, which led him away from God!
When he was with God, The king Solomon we know commune with God and was NEVER afraid of any evil spirit!!! You have no idea what has been added n removed from the Bible, the Dead Sea scroll alone has up to 900 books, the Bible is just a small portion of the whole information there. And when u are don reading most of these books u may no longer be a Christian. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Paul And Women Silence In Church by Techguy96(m): 11:24am On May 30, 2021 |
The New Testament was written in Greek when the writers spoke either Hebrew or Aramaic. Shouldn’t that worry bible believers, like Jesus disciples were fishermen, tax collectors and all, it’s shows there were mainly illiterate there was no way they could read n write those days especially not an elite language like Greek. Only the rich n upper class people could read n write Greek not people like Mathew mark etc. |

omolola100: Whenever an American citizen wake up in the morning, they will pray that God should bless America.
This country is turning to something else and i dont think Nigeria can ever balance again, my cousin who works in a private school got back home after the proprietress sacked her for asking the student to pray for the redemption of Nigeria, and also telling the student to observe a minute silence for the COAS and the military personnel that lost their life in the plane crash.
Is it a crime to pray for one's nation again? The woman is an enemy of the nation for her to have rejected prayer for our dear nation. I would do same if I own the school, religion shouldn’t even be taught in school. |

ChiefOloye: The Nigeria Government should be worried about Igboho. Yesterday I called more than 7 people in Ondo, not one of them condemned Sunday Igboho, in fact, they all described him as their leader, who has partially succeeded in sending away murderous Fúlàní herders away from Yorùbá land. As at today, Sunday Igboho is probably the most followed Yorùbá man, especially by those who live in the South West. And who’s fault is that |
