On my way to Benin from Warri, we were stop at a police checkpoint, an officer started checking all our bags n he saw vega100 in my bag, I didn’t even know it was in my bag. As soon as he saw It, he acted like he has seen a hard drug n said I should follow him. He ask me what it was I told him Vega100, he took me to one other officer who was busy checking someone else phone.
He then told me vega100 was illegal in Nigeria, I told him I was not aware, he said ignorance of the law is no excuse, that my bus should go without me because I was under arrest, just like that, obviously I knew he was looking for money, so I ask how we could sort things out, he said 50k, I was having just 2k with me, I pleaded wit him to take 1k, he refused, finally sha he accepted 1500 after much abeg n time wasting.
I was so surprised because I’m pretty sure vega100 is not illegal, but if I had argued with the officers I would probably still be in police station trying to resolve this case.

Hello nairalanders, I'm working currently as a laboratory technician, but my parents wants me to further more for medical laboratory science course in university.

Seeing the way technology is moving, I've decided to go into IT, which is the reason i want to use the money I'm supposed to use to study MLS to go into programming, instead of using 5yrs studying MLS, that's even if ASUU did not extend it to 6 or 7years, i want to dedicate this 5-6yrs of my life into programming( web development and other parts of programming maybe application software development also).

I've also decided to go to teach myself first online, and later go to IT school for certificate and meeting with other IT gurus sake so as to gain from them.

So is programming worth sacrificing this career for? Please advise.

Honestly, I think u can have both career, that’s what I’m currently doing or about to do. I do web and app development as freelance while working with an engineering company. I code in the evening and weekend
