ozoigbondu: Some customs are so retrogressive U don't have to be derogatory of peoples' cultures. This is not as retrogressive as some cultures where people still feed on human flesh in Eastern Nigeria and where people are killed on the ground of possessing witchcraft. Some over-aged ladies in some cultures find it difficult to get married owing to over bloated bride price. These are cultural practices in some places and nobody is saying they are retrogressive. Going to those places and choosing to have anything to do with them is purely optional. |

While I do not support public officers living large at the expense of the tax payers. I do not see anything special about Buhari sending his daughter to any school anywhere in the world. Buhari is no ordinary citizen, he is a retired general and a former head of state. Ordinary councilors in Nigeria send their children to schools abroad. Nothing anybody can say about him here or anywhere for that matter can make me as a person change my mind about him. He remains the only ex-head of state who does not own a private university, a refinery or any known company. His pension as a former head of state is enough to give his children the best of education anywhere in the world. Even pastors now own private universities, private jets, multi-billion naira investments all over the world, all at the expense of their impoverished followers and nobody is looking in their direction. |

Thanks for bringing this up to remind our ever-loyal saTANoids. The most troubling part of that subsidy regime is that of Kerosine which is about the only fuel for the poor man who neither owns a car or a generator. We are being told that the price of kerosine has been subsidized by the govt (with only God knows how much),yet you and I know that Kerosine sells for between N130 and N140 per litter even by major oil marketers. No government official either from the ministry of petroleum resources,NNPC or DPR has come out to explain to Nigerians on the development and yet no one has lost his job dwilliams: Goodluck Johnathan is a good man as a person, his simplicity and gentlemanness is second to none. *He has given us his very BEST over the last 6 years. I mean, what else are we asking for? *He has granted Alameisiya 'STATE PARDON' and my guy is now running for Senate. *He allowed Fayose to disrupt a court session and beat up a judge, while he walks freely. I wonder if Nigeria is sane. *He locked up the house of rep from the entrance of the CONSTITUTIONAL speaker of that house. *7 law makers impeached a speaker in Ekiti in a house of about 26 men, and nothing happened. *16 was suddenly greater than 19 in base 10, just to cancel the one-term agreement he signed with the NIGERIA Governors' Forum and all Nigerians in 2011. *Subsidy has been removed and the standards in our hospitals have reduced with time. *$20 billion is missing and minister of Petroleum eats and dines with the prexy. *Another BIGGER & BOLDER subsidy is scheduled for 1st of June, 2015 and you may have to sell your laptop charger before you can buy fuel to charge that same laptop!!! * Earlier this year, over 22 innocent Nigerians were killed in the job scam organized by the Nigerian Immigration Service(NIS) . The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, told us the job interrwas "simply mismanaged" and he has retained his office and even with extra luggage. *1 Naira used to be equal $1.2 under # GMB but now it's #186.5 to just $1, the worst ever in our history. * Madam Gele, Ngozi Okonjo, just told us we need an extra $5 billion, through debts of course, so that our economy will not collapse like Humpty- Dumpty. *While Benue State University was on an unending internal strike killing the future of poor Nigerians, Senator DAVID MARK (son of the soil) built his own PRIVATE UNIVERSITY, of course with tax payers' money, and my gentle president followed him to launch the school shamelessly. *He has spent all money in the treasury and even had to BORROW an extra $1 billion but # BokoHaram keeps getting more equipped than our military. *Over 200 girls are missing, over 15,000 killed by # BokoHaram , over 6 million displaced from their homes and uncountable injured beyond repairs yet my president went to a a meeting in # KENYA with 7 different PRIVATE JETS.. *clears throat... * # PHCN is giving their loyal customers GENERATORS as gifts for paying their # electricity bills on time..Grab your COPY NOW!!! . That's less than 1% of the reasons we need to dance to a new SHOKI, this AWILO is no more wulo for us. Cheers to an unstoppable change |

Politics › Re: FG Withdraws Tambuwal's Security Details by tee4naija(m): 11:25am On Oct 30, 2014 |
aby1976: It is very unfortunate that some Nigerians including public office holders are too lazy, to read the elementary sections of our Constitution, some of which are self explanatory.
Now, let us examine what Chapter V, Part 1 (Composition Of National Assembly) sections 47 -50 of the Constitution Of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria holds:
There shall be a National Assembly for the Federation which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives.
48. The Senate shall consist of three Senators from each State and one from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
49. Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, the House of Representatives shall consist of three hundred and sixty members representing constituencies of nearly equal population as far as possible, provided that no constituency shall fall within more than one State.
50. (1) There shall be:-
(a) a President and a Deputy President of the Senate, who shall be elected by the members of that House from among themselves; and
(b) a Speaker and a Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who shall be elected by the members of that House from among themselves.
(2) The President or Deputy President of the Senate or the Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives shall vacate his office -
(a) if he ceases to be a member of the Senate or of the House of Representatives, as the case may be, otherwise than by reason of a dissolution of the Senate or the House of Representatives; or
(b) when the House of which he was a member first sits after any dissolution of that House; or
(c) if he is removed from office by a resolution of the Senate or of the House of Representatives, as the case may be, by the votes of not less than two-thirds majority of the members of that House.
So where did PDP find the supposedly "loophole" or authority in law, in asking Hon. Tambuwal to resign? The only option left for them, is to rally their members and see if they can muster the required number when plenary resumes in decemeber, in order to satisfy Section 50, subsection 2 C as highlighted above.
Anything else is calling for anarchy!
Don't let pdp deceive u folks Thanks so much for this piece. The culture of impunity has to stop. Mimiko recently decamped to PDP and his security details were not removed, neither was he asked to resign. |

Isiterere: gibberish!!! Tell Mimiko and all his state house representatives to leave their post too . Btw, seems you forgot that Tambuwa being made the speaker was not with the support of PDP . Tell your PDP gather more strength to have 2/3 majority if they want him out . Stop saying what you don't know about constitution. There is no where it was stated that speaker should come from a majority party ...
This PDP e-rodent can be so lazy to get fact.
ALL IZZ WELL I did not want to comment until I saw the only enlightened comment by you. PDP supporters on this forum need to be reminded that the powers that be within the party then were more interested in that woman from Oyo state in becoming the speaker and not Tambuwa. Tambuwa was supported by majorly APC members in the house who felt slapped by the attempt to impose that woman on the house by the PDP. Now he has aligned with the people who share the same dreams with him and PDP and their supporters are now crying foul. They should tell Mimiko and his legislators in Ondo State to also resign since they have left the party that brought them all to their offices. |

A Buhari Fashola ticket from the APC is a sure joker if tactfully played. An average Yoruba man is not a religion freak. Besides, the issue of possible Islamization/ introduction of Sharia is a ploy by those who are afraid of that formidable combination to gain religious sympathy from feeble minded Nigerians. A president and his VP are just an arm(Executive) of the government and can do nothing of that magnitude without the concurrence of the other arms (Legislature and Judiciary). That fear is baseless. It is only been touted by those who want to perpetuate corruption, gross ineptitude and economic malfeasance. |
