Hey pals,
Its getting clearer everyday that the number of people who do not go to church keeps hiking with every passing Sunday and when you try to inquire as to the cause of that and why they (the ones that didn't go to church) stay home, you get very hilarious and lame excuses ranging from "i woke up late" to "i don't have offering". tongue

So whats ur excuse on why you did not go to church?
grew up in deeper life, never enjoyed going to church, now in school, I better stay at home than going to a church i don't enjoy their service... Yet they call me from house every Sunday to ask if I go church but na YES!.... And dem bliv I like d church.. Dem go shock wen dem Sabi

Yeah...what kind of sincere mind sits around looking for things to condemn as sin? He/she came here to quietly judge someone while he/she is obviously an olonsho with a stolen profile picture and the twitter handle "@soaked_punani". And for that matter, he/she can say that my mother was a victim of rape and still pretend to be Christian?
lol

You're obviously a primary 2 dropout. Do you even know how surrogacy works? You holier-than-thou dumbasses, always spouting your nonsense on public forums where people should get together to exchange progressive ideas. And props to the mods for enabling you.

EducationOAU Inaugurates 11th Substantive VC, Prof. Ogunbodede by teemanbastos(op): 8:07am On Jun 08, 2017
By Adejumo Kabir

The first indigene of Ile Ife to paddle the affairs of OAU, former Acting Vice Chancellor, and Professor Anthony Elujoba today successfully handed over to the 11th substantive Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede.
The inauguration ceremony took place at Oduduwa Hall of the University with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja ll, Chairman of Governing Council, Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi, principal officers of the institution among others in attendance.
The immediate past Acting VC Prof Elujoba expressed his heart filled appreciation to God and the generality of OAU for the unflinching support given to him during his 10 months acting vice-chancellorship of the institution that restored normalcy to campus after traumatic experience.
Elujoba appreciated all unions on campus for not frustrating his administration to luck down the campus for a day throughout his tenure despite his failure to satisfy welfare demands, remove all the bedbugs in hostels, inability to provide water and electricity all the time and reduce the stress in the overcrowded lecture theatres.
He encouraged his successor, Ogunbodede to consciously enforce obedience and absolute compliance to the rules and regulations, with the principle of doing things right. He said: “By the grace of God, we didn’t witness even one day of closure except on public holiday breaks”. He also expressed his immense gratitude to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja ll for his constant encouragement at the cause of sustaining peace to once embattled university. “I am very eager today to handover to a substantive 11th Vice Chancellor of a personality of Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, a seasoned manager of men and materials whose skills, integrity and overall record as a former Dean of Dentistry and Provost of College of Health Sciences”, Elujoba said. He finally admonished Professor Ogunbodede not to join the bad eggs in university.
Also, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi said that the council is proud to conduct selection of VC process that was agreed to be free and fair by all. He said, “22 people applied, 21 were shortlisted and at the end of it all, Professor of Dentistry, Prof. Ogunbodede emerged and was confirmed.” “We resist all pressure from different angle, we conducted election that was adjudged free and fair by all applicants. We thank God and Prof. Elujoba for his integrity and we wish him the very best”, Ogunbiyi stated. The Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja ll, said the emergence of Prof. Ogunbodede is indeed a new dawn for the University and he believed that the inauguration is the continuation of smooth transition on OAU campus. Ooni said: “I am grateful to God that I am part of this success story and I enjoin all of us to learn from immediate past acting vice chancellor, Professor Anthony Elujoba that honesty and sincerity pays off”. Professor Ogunbodede, the 11th VC while addressing the audience solicited the support of all students and staffs towards accomplishing his vision to make OAU world class university that will be globally recognised as the epitome of teaching, transformational scholarship, cutting edge research and community service. “We must as staffs, students, members and friends of the OAU community engage in mutually beneficial collaborations and partner with industry and other relevant stakeholders for the progress of the institution, the nation and global community as a whole”. He pledged total commitment and conscious enhancement of team approach through an open door policy to promote OAU to be the best university in Africa and one of the topmost universities in the world.

Nairaland GeneralAbout Typed Mistakes In Comments On Nairaland by teemanbastos(op): 7:23am On May 27, 2017
It is common today to see typed errors on this forum, first I believe that most nairalanders have a grasp of the English language and so they know what they intend to write, but these gaffes might come attimes.
Some of the remote causes of this.

1. Fast typing - in a bid to be the ftc, many type without really looking at what is being typed, although many attimes these comments are edited but what of those whose data finished thereafter cool

2. Homophonic errors-sometimes two words can be pronounced similarly, so when we type we tend to write down incorrect spelling.

3. Personal errors - not all of us attended the best schools, and we can sometimes make these errors.

4. Too much use of shorthand in typing - when we chat, we use a lot of shorthand and this unconsciously registers in our brain so that when we type comments on n'land.. We misuse words

Although we have n'landers who have devoted themselves to correcting others cheesy although they are mostly replied with fierce answers but these guys are untiring... grin

Anyways.. A weekly language clinic thread on Nairaland won't be a bad idea as it'll help all and sundry.

PS: abeg may una ignore my errors too o, as long as you dun understand wetin i write, we're fine cool

You can add reasons why typed comments could have errors.

EducationRe: I Want To Be The First Sug President Of My School, What Are Your Opinions? by teemanbastos(m): 5:14pm On Apr 17, 2017
Jennynenny:
I have always wanted to be a leader wherever I found myself. Starting from my primary school, through secondary school and presently an executive of my faculty. I look forward to climbing higher and breaking glass ceilings while leading others in all aspects that is deemed right. To lead without titles. To correct all wrong deeds of the past and several stereotypes.
I DECIDED TO CONTEST AS A FEMALE ASPIRANT FOR MY SCHOOL SUG( STUDENT UNION GOVERNMENT) WHEN THE TIME COMES.
I told one of my friends about it... a female actually. I was shocked of her reply ' you are never going to win. You are a woman. This is Nigeria, not some western country' To be frank, that discouraged me. Why would she say that? why at all will she think differently of woman that way?
I decided to seek another persons opinion... a male this time around. He kept laughing at it till today. He would always call me "SUG PRESIDENT" grin
I believe that by winning:
It'll set a good role model for the girls, who will then turn around and maybe actually finish school, and a whole a lot.

Besides, according to a study published by Development Dimensions International, companies with the greatest numbers of women in leadership roles perform the best financially, and a recent survey found that female entrepreneurs are more likely to succeed than their male counterparts. This shouldn’t be surprising: We still have to work harder to get the same recognition and pay as men, and are less likely than men to seek positions for which we may be under qualified. As a result, women who secure leadership roles are often significantly more qualified for the job than their male counterparts. On top of that, a recent Pew poll shows that over a third of Americans ( I know...yes... we are in Nigeria) believe female politicians are better than men at working out compromises and being honest and ethical. (Over half said that men and women are equally good at these things).

I am not trying to bring feminism into this... because I know most of you are already spinning in that line of thought. I am only saying; HE CAN... SHE CAN...LEADERSHIP IS NOT BY GENDER. WOMEN AND MEN CAN BE GOOD LEADERS.

DROP YOUR OPINIONS...
good idea.. But one, leading students the right way and not being a management's stooge.... Then hope you have the funds and you are good to go. All the best
