Cameroon held Nigeria to a 1-1 draw at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Group B of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Moses Simon gave the visitors the lead in the first half but a second half penalty from Vincent Aboubakar means the Super Eagles need to wait a little longer before a berth in Russia can be sealed. The West African giants were in high spirits heading to Yaoundé as coach Gernot Rohr started with the same XI that won 4-0 in Uyo. It was however the Indomitable Lions that started on the front foot, putting the visitors under early pressure. 1-1 was how it ended in Yaoundé as the result sees Nigeria retain their lead in Group B with 10 points while Zambia, who travel to take on Algeria on Tuesday, are second on 4 points. They will need to wait for the next game against Chipolopolo in October if they are to stand a chance of qualification to the Russia 2018. For Cameroon, their adventure is over as they have three points and won’t be able to catch up in their remaining games. Boko Haram has taunted the Nigeria army, saying it is celebrating Sallah in Sambisa forest after the 40-day ultimatum issued for the capturing of its leader, Abubakar Shekau. In July, Chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai, had given a 40-day ultimatum to his men to either capture or kill Shekau. But the deadline passed without any success. But Shuaibu Moni, one of the commanders of the sect who was swapped with 82 Chibok girls in May, appeared in a video taunting the military and issuing threats to Nigerian authorities. “We have observed the eid-el-Kabir prayers peacefully with our brothers, wives and children in Sambisa forest under the leadership of Abu-Muhammad -Ibn-Mahammad Abubakar Shekau,” he said. “We thank Almighty Allah for sparing our lives to witness this very wonderful day and good state of health. We want to tell the infidels of the world, infidels in Nigeria and even small ants like Buhari and his attack dogs like Kukasheka and Buratai who gave 40-day ultimatum to kill our leader Abubakar Shekau that here we are celebrating Sallah in Sambisa. “I also want them to know that killing Shekau is not the end of us. With or without Shekau Boko Haram will remain. They should know we worship God and Shekau is only leading us on the path of service to the Lord. http://www.nigeriannewsweb.com/we-are-celebrating-sallah-in-sambisa-forest-boko-haram-tells-army/ |

Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has berated President Buhari for saying he is satisfied with the economy when even a “two-year-old child knows that there is hunger in the land”. At a meeting with Godwin Emefiele, governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); Kemi Adeosun, minister of finance, and Udoma Udoma, minister of budget and national planning, Buhari said he was delighted over the “improvement” in the economy. “I’m Taking Power From Buhari, I Will Be Nigeria’s Next President” – Fayosehttp://www.nigeriannewsweb.com/i-will-be-nigerias-next-president-in-2019-fayose/ But in a statement on Wednesday, Fayose said it is clear that the president had lost touch with real economic situation of the country. “How can a president who has spent more time abroad than he spent in Nigeria be telling Nigerians that he is satisfied with the sufferings of the people? It is like the president endorsing the sufferings of Nigerians and this is painful,” read the statement issued on his behalf by Lere Olayinka, his spokesman. “That president Buhari, who met exchange rate at N197 to $1 said that he is pleased with the economy when exchange rate is now N370 to $1 is a clear indication that the government is being run on his behalf. http://www.nigeriannewsweb.com/even-a-child-knows-that-nigerians-are-hungry-fayose-slams-buhari/
