Following Wednesday's 3-0 Champions League defeat to Paris St-Germain, Bayern Munich has sacked it's manager, Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti, 58, helped Bayern win the Bundesliga last term after taking over from Pep Guardiola, but they only reached the last eight of the Champions League and the German Cup semi-finals. Assistant boss Willy Sagnol will take temporary charge. Bayern, league champions in each of the past five seasons, are third in the German table, three points behind Borussia Dortmund, with four wins, one draw and one defeat from their first six matches. They next play away to Hertha Berlin on Sunday (14:30 BST). "The performance of our team since the start of the season did not meet the expectations we put to them," said Bayern's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "I would like to thank Carlo for his cooperation. Carlo is my friend and will remain my friend, but we had to make a professional decision. Things seem to have escalated between superstar brothers, Psquare and their brother/manager, Jude Okoye as a video has been released that showed them almost exchanging blows. In what seemed like a video recorded by Peter, you can see the brothers exchanging insults and almost resulting in a fist fight. This video is coming days after Peter Okoye had sent a letter of termination to their lawyer demanding for the dissolution of the group. It would be recalled that it was reported in the news that Peter had chosen to terminate his contractual agreement between the group saying he won't betray his wife and kids for the group. Peter had reported that Paul canceled their US tour shows without his knowledge, that he even canceled all the shows that they were already booked for. Arsenal moved into seventh place in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over West Brom on Monday. Alexandre Lacazette scored both goals at the Emirates Stadium to give Arsene Wenger's side a third league win of the season and a seventh in a row at home to the Baggies. Tony Pulis' side won the last meeting between these teams in March and had their chances to claim at least a share of the spoils, with Jay Rodriguez hitting the post and Jake Livermore failing to convert the rebound before Lacazette headed in the opener. West Brom, for whom Gareth Barry made a record 633rd Premier League appearance, continued to threaten an unconvincing Arsenal defence but their lack of composure in attack was compounded when Lacazette's penalty doubled the lead. Peter Okoye of the Nigerian music duo, Psquare, has allegedly split from the group. According to a letter circulating on social media, purportedly sent by Peter Okoye to Festus Keyamo chambers, Peter said he had decided to terminate the agreement between him and Psquare. Recently, the announcement of Peter’s new stage name, Mr P, on social media, had led to rumours that the brothers were not in good terms. But in the letter that has since gone viral, Peter Okoye stated his reasons for terminating the agreement between Paul and older brother/ manager, Jude Okoye, adding that he had acted with caution because the safety of his family was his priority. Mr P also stated that his decision was a painful one as he wished his brothers well in their future endeavours. He said, “What I am about to do has been the most difficult decision to make, I have tried and exhausted http://www.nigeriannewsweb.com/peter-okoye-aka-mr-p-announces-split-from-psquare/

Romelu Lukaku scored his eighth goal in as many games for Manchester United to seal a 1-0 victory away to Southampton on Saturday. The Belgium international converted a rebound in the first half to give Jose Mourinho's side a fifth win in six Premier League games and keep pace with Manchester City at the top of the table. It was a largely unconvincing performance from the visitors, who made the most of their one clear-cut opportunity in a comfortable first half and spent the majority of the second on the back foot. Lukaku scored after seeing a header saved by Fraser Forster, prompting a repeat of the controversial chant from the away section in support of the former Everton man, but United created little otherwise in a disjointed display and Mourinho was sent to the stands in the dying minutes. http://www.nigeriannewsweb.com/video-lukaku-scores-in-man-utds-1-0-win-over-southampton-mourinho-sees-red-highlights/

Alvaro Morata continued his stunning start to life at Chelsea with a hat-trick as the Premier League champions sealed an impressive 4-0 victory away to Stoke City. Chelsea scored from their only two shots in the first half, Morata putting them in front after just 82 seconds before fellow Spain international Pedro netted his second goal in his last three games. Stoke increased the pressure after the break, but former Real Madrid striker Morata doubled his tally with a brilliant solo goal to end home hopes of a revival. And Morata then made it six goals in as many Premier League appearances for Chelsea as he sealed his hat-trick with eight minutes remaining. Harry Kane ruled the roost in another London derby for Tottenham as they survived a late West Ham rally to claim a 3-2 win on Saturday. England striker Kane moved his tally in London derbies to 21 goals in 29 games with a quickfire first-half double as Spurs banished memories of last season's London Stadium defeat, which effectively ended their Premier League title charge. Though their Wembley woes have been well-documented, this performance at a stadium they could have called home was a reminder of Spurs' ruthlessness. Kane's goals arrived inside four minutes of each other, with Christian Eriksen rewarded for a neat performance with a well-taken effort that makes him the Premier League's top-scoring Dane with 33 strikes.[Read More] Watch Goals And Highlights Below http://www.nigeriannewsweb.com/video-kane-double-helps-spurs-defeat-west-ham-3-2-highlights/

Barcelona star Lionel Messi is supposedly happier without Neymar – and knew the PSG forward would cause problems at his new club, The Express reports. Barcelona lost Neymar to Ligue 1 giants PSG over the summer, with Unai Emery’s side shelling out £198m to sign him from their La Liga counterparts. The Brazil international already looks good value for money, scoring five goals from his first six games and striking up a good partnership with Kylian Mbappe. However, the 25-year-old made the headlines for all the wrong reasons at the weekend, clashing with team-mate Edinson Cavani over a penalty and a free kick. And Spanish outlet Diario Gol say Messi always thought controversies would engulf Neymar once he decided to swap Catalonia for France. The two enjoyed four years together, helping Barcelona win La Liga twice and the Champions League in the process. Many thought Messi’s form would dip with Ernesto Valverde’s side theoretically weaker without Neymar in their ranks. But Diario Gol say that was not the case. Apple CEO Tim Cook said that he was going to "reveal the product that will set the path for technology for the next decade" at Tuesday's Apple Special Event. If there is anything that has set the internet on fire this week, it has been the new iPhone X (supported by its siblings : Apple watch, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus). On Tuesday, Apple (AAPL, Tech30) unveiled new smartwatches, an Apple TV and the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus at a press event. But the showstopper was a premium device called iPhone X, with a starting price that would have once seemed laughable for a phone: $999. Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, framed the device as being nothing short of "the future of the smartphone." "The first iPhone revolutionized a decade of technology and changed the world in the process," Cook said on stage. "Now, ten years later, it is only fitting that we are here in this place on this day to reveal a product that will set the path for technology for the next decade." Here are 10 things (courtsey of CNN Money) you should know about iPhone X. The X is silent For starters, the new phone is pronounced "ten," not "X," at least according to Apple executives speaking about it on stage. All glass The iPhone X will have glass on both the front and the back, creating what Apple calls an "all-glass design." In case you're worried about that glass breaking, Apple stresses that the glass is "the most durable" ever used in a smartphone. Edge-to-edge display The front of the iPhone is all screen. Literally. The display covers the full face of the device, with the exception of a small sliver at the top for the camera. The screen measures 5.8-inches diagonally. A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the suit by Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi West, challenging the validity of the process of recalling him by his constituents. Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, in his judgment delivered on Monday, ordered that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) “shall proceed with the recall process”. The judgment effectively terminated the earlier ex parte order made by another judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Justice John Tsoho, on July 6, 2017, directing parties to maintain status quo. But the Justice Dimgba, to whom the case was reassigned, ordered that the process shall only proceed with the recall process, subject to the service of the petition, the full list and signatures of persons in support of the recall process. http://www.nigeriannewsweb.com/breaking-court-tells-inec-to-proceed-with-recall-of-dino-melaye/

Roy Hodgson is expected to be appointed as Crystal Palace’s manager to replace Frank de Boer, who has been sacked 10 weeks after he replaced Sam Allardyce at Selhurst Park. De Boer’s dismissal comes after he suffered four defeats from his four Premier League matches against Huddersfield, Liverpool, Swansea and Burnley, in which Palace failed to score a goal. They are the first team in 93 years to have begun a top-flight season in such a fashion. A much-changed Real Madrid dropped points for the second LaLiga home game in a row as Levante held them to a 1-1 draw on Saturday. Lucas Vazquez cancelled out Ivi's surprise opener but it was another frustrating 90 minutes for the champions at the Santiago Bernabeu, as they handed Barcelona another early boost in the title race.
