President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday led dignitaries to attend a special Juma’at service in commemoration of Nigeria's 57th year Independence Anniversary.

The service was held inside a mosque near the President’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Buhari was joined at the prayer session by Senate President, Bukola Saraki; and former Vice-President Namadi Sambo.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar Sadique; Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris; and Comptroller-General of Customs, Hameed Ali, also attended the service.

Sergio Aguero has been injured in a car accident in the Netherlands, according to reports coming out of Argentina.

The Manchester City striker attended a concert in Amsterdam featuring Colombian singer Maluma and was reportedly hurt on his return to the airport when the taxi he was in was involved in an accident.

According to reports, Aguero, who it is claimed was wearing his seat belt, suffered broken ribs as a result of the crash, in which the taxi carrying the City star apparently hit a pole.

Dutch police, meanwhile, have confirmed to Sky Sports News that two people had been taken to hospital but did not disclose the identity of the individuals.

Following Wednesday's 3-0 Champions League defeat to Paris St-Germain, Bayern Munich has sacked it's manager, Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti, 58, helped Bayern win the Bundesliga last term after taking over from Pep Guardiola, but they only reached the last eight of the Champions League and the German Cup semi-finals.

Assistant boss Willy Sagnol will take temporary charge.

Bayern, league champions in each of the past five seasons, are third in the German table, three points behind Borussia Dortmund, with four wins, one draw and one defeat from their first six matches.

They next play away to Hertha Berlin on Sunday (14:30 BST).

"The performance of our team since the start of the season did not meet the expectations we put to them," said Bayern's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

"I would like to thank Carlo for his cooperation. Carlo is my friend and will remain my friend, but we had to make a professional decision. The game in Paris clearly showed that we had to draw consequences."

Cristiano Ronaldo marked his 400th Real Madrid appearance with two goals as the holders beat Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in their second Champions League group game.

The 32-year-old netted his 410th and 411th efforts for the club in his 150th UEFA club match after Gareth Bale's sensational opener had put Madrid in front in what proved to be a thrilling encounter at Signal Iduna Park.

Omotola took time out to visit the Agodi gardens in Ibadan yesterday alongside her first daughter Mimi.

Things seem to have escalated between superstar brothers, Psquare and their brother/manager, Jude Okoye as a video has been released that showed them almost exchanging blows.

In what seemed like a video recorded by Peter, you can see the brothers exchanging insults and almost resulting in a fist fight.

This video is coming days after Peter Okoye had sent a letter of termination to their lawyer demanding for the dissolution of the group.

Arsenal moved into seventh place in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over West Brom on Monday.

According to a letter circulating on social media, purportedly sent by Peter Okoye to Festus Keyamo chambers, Peter said he had decided to terminate the agreement between him and Psquare.

Recently, the announcement of Peter’s new stage name, Mr P, on social media, had led to rumours that the brothers were not in good terms.

But in the letter that has since gone viral, Peter Okoye stated his reasons for terminating the agreement between Paul and older brother/ manager, Jude Okoye, adding that he had acted with caution because the safety of his family was his priority.

Mr P also stated that his decision was a painful one as he wished his brothers well in their future endeavours.

Alvaro Morata continued his stunning start to life at Chelsea with a hat-trick as the Premier League champions sealed an impressive 4-0 victory away to Stoke City.

A thief arrested by the Guinean police has congratulated the law enforcement agents for their feat.

He commended the police during an interview after he was caught.

In a viral video on social media, Boubacar Diallo, a student at a technical college in Mamou, Guinea, said he knew the gravity of his crime and acknowledged that he could be jailed.

Diallo and his accomplice admitted to stealing 50million Guinean francs (N2million) from a phone shop in the north-western city.

In the video, Diallo rallied support for the police, saying more resources should be given to them.

On Tuesday, Apple (AAPL, Tech30) unveiled new smartwatches, an Apple TV and the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus at a press event. But the showstopper was a premium device called iPhone X, with a starting price that would have once seemed laughable for a phone: $999.

Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, framed the device as being nothing short of "the future of the smartphone."

"The first iPhone revolutionized a decade of technology and changed the world in the process," Cook said on stage. "Now, ten years later, it is only fitting that we are here in this place on this day to reveal a product that will set the path for technology for the next decade."

The X is silent

For starters, the new phone is pronounced "ten," not "X," at least according to Apple executives speaking about it on stage.

Edge-to-edge display

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the suit by Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi West, challenging the validity of the process of recalling him by his constituents.

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, in his judgment delivered on Monday, ordered that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) “shall proceed with the recall process”.

The judgment effectively terminated the earlier ex parte order made by another judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Justice John Tsoho, on July 6, 2017, directing parties to maintain status quo.

But the Justice Dimgba, to whom the case was reassigned, ordered that the process shall only proceed with the recall process, subject to the service of the petition, the full list and signatures of persons in support of the recall process.

Roy Hodgson is expected to be appointed as Crystal Palace’s manager to replace Frank de Boer, who has been sacked 10 weeks after he replaced Sam Allardyce at Selhurst Park.
