[b]The Word Became Flesh 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and[b] is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.[/b] |
Philippians 2:5-11 New International Version (NIV) 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. |
11. Like God, Jesus forgives sin. Mark 2:5-7, 10-11: “When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” “...But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”--He said to the paralytic, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go your way to your house.” 12. Like God, Jesus gives eternal life. John 10:27-28: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” 13. Like God, Jesus received, receives and will receive worship. Matthew 14:32-33: “And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.” (also see Matthew 28:9, 17, John 9:37-38) Revelation 5:13: “And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!” Hebrews 1:6: “But when He again brings the firstborn [JESUS] into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him.” Jesus never rebuked any of His followers for worshiping Him and yet worship of anything or anyone other than God is absolutely forbidden in the Bible . . . Luke 4:8: “And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” |
8. Jesus called Himself “I AM”, the Old Testament name for God (Exodus 3:14). John 8:58-59: “Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.” 9. Jesus calls Himself “the Alpha and Omega,” the title of Almighty God. Revelation 22:12-13: “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” Revelation 1:8: “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” 10. Like God (Gen. 1:1) Jesus created. Colossians 1:16-17: “For by Him [See context. This is speaking of Jesus] all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” John 1:3: “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” Yet God says in Isaiah 44:24, “I am the LORD, who makes all things, who stretches out the heavens all alone, who spreads abroad the earth by Myself” |
4. The Apostle John called Jesus God. John 1:1-3, 14: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” See verse 14 for confirmation that this reference to the "Word" is a reference to Jesus. 5. God the Father called Jesus God. Hebrews 1:8: “But to the Son He [God the Father] says: ‘Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom.’” 6. Isaiah the Prophet said the Messiah would be God. Isaiah 9:6: “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” God the Father, in the Old Testament, is also called “Mighty God” in Isaiah 10:21, the same title that can be ascribed to the Son of God, Jesus Christ. 7. The Jews who crucified Jesus understood Him to be saying that He was equal with God. John 5:18: “Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.” John 10:33: “The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.” |
frosbel: show me where the apostles thought Jesus was GOD.1. The Apostle Thomas called Jesus God. [John 20:27-29: Then He [Jesus] said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” 2. The Apostle Peter called Jesus God. Peter 1:1: “Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ 3. The Apostle Paul called Jesus God. Titus 2:12b-14: “...we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” |
frosbel: I will keep fighting against the TRINITY.because u are not a true believer in christ, historical evidence shows clearly that the apostles believed he was God your here 2000+ years later saying you will keep fighting against trinity.....what makes you different from Muhammadians? |
it's the intent behind the action. |
not really but something significant might happen.... |
the bible does not say God is one person either.....but there are more evidence to prove the complexity of God. you saying God is one basically shows that you've cornered God into an angle/box and if anything does not fit into your way of looking at God you displace it. the trinity simply proves the incomprehensible nature of God. it's either you take or leave it. |
frosbel: he glorifies MAN , which is different to saying that he shares his GLORY with MAN.hmmmm a man that all nations would worship? |
for those who don't know....Angel simply means messenger it is not some kind of post |
also the revelation of John shows clearly Jesus is God (he is the alpha and omega) |
he that has ears let him hear what the spirit is saying.....there's no point in arguing back and forth read your bible, but i will leave you with these (Jesus blessed timothy when he called him God, he also said to his disciples what ever you ask of me in my name i will personally do it.) the apostles were not dumb they clearly knew what they were talking about. |
The OP: Can any christian answer this questions please?what part of the hypostatic union don't you get? now answer this can spirit die? can the body die? |
But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Jesus went to sheol (world of the dead)to preach.....so the grace goes both ways before Jesus and after Jesus |
Reyginus: Explain the abovefrom the atheist point of view there's no objective point to life so why blame Hitler for killing Jews, but commend those who abort their babies what's the point of being good to others if there's no ultimate motive to it since everything will go downhill at some point |
frosbel: This is the glory that God had prepared for his Son before the World began.well then you would have to explain to me why God said he is the lord and he will never share his glory with any man. |
frosbel: Wrong.God himself said to Moses that he is the I Am who AM, don't dare twist the bible on me to support your belief (just so you know Jewish people do not say yod-heh-vau-heh because they believe it is too holy) |
If you don't believe I AM (from the Greek translation) you will die in your sins. |
Boomark: How does ps110:1 show that our God is one?it shows that a son man is being honored... clearly without a second thought we all know this is referring to Jesus. Jesus's body was resurrected, he still has his body, that's why he is being referred to as the man that will judge all men after the end of time. Jesus speaking - And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. that was the event Daniel most likely saw. psalms shows you that a lord was saying to another lord, it doesn't require much sweat to understand that |
Boomark: We are not all Muslim. Please go ahead and explain "the Father is greater than I".like i said above Yahweh (God's personal name which was never mentioned in the Koran by a supposed "prophet" ![]() is the God of all flesh.....so since Jesus had to become flesh he was subjected to every limitation of the average human. God never said explicitly that he is one person......another illustration is this (man landed on the moon but it doesn't mean it was you or i that landed on the moon) So the God head consist of three persons |
. |
Madawaki01: If Jesus was"our God is one lord" doesn't equate to One person. the answers lies in the bible. Psalm 110:1 - A psalm. The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.".....and notice this are from the old testament the root which Christianity and Islam came from Daniel also recorded many of his visions in Daniel 7:13-14 As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient One and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. and this was many years before Jesus was born. and it is important to keep in mind God said, he is the I Am, and he will never share his glory with any man....so what does that make Jesus? now to answer your questions.......the Bible says Yahweh is the God of all flesh......the word, which is Jesus became flesh and dwelt among men. when he prayed he was only communicating with God as he has always done before incarnation only now he has to pray because he is limited in nature just like any other human. my God is greater than i, simply means God the father is higher than me in rank i am his son but coequal in essence now my question to you op is ...God is love who was he loving before any creation? well my answer is God is self sufficient, he deliberates withing himself cuz it says so in the bible.....what is your response to this? |
Why does life exist....why does anything exists? Why does life exist? Life exists to combat and destroy itself. Eventually everything will die, it's like a cycle that is pointless and useless. A dead end, life is another pointless creation. why was mother Theresa good when she could have been Hitler why judge cannibals, war mongers since everything is headed for doom why question/judge women who abort their babies, in short why anything? Everything is pointless, meaningless, worthless because it all goes to extinction! |
.. |
wake up call, Nigeria should make the hay while the sun is still shining, like the Yoruba adage says "owuro ni ojo, eni ma ri ire a sheba owuro" which loosely translates to "anyone that would be successful in this life, will work when the sun is still up" |
kilode!! na Halloween? |
good, he is setting the right conditions for the state to become all it could be ![]() |
Yes, and every other party in power including ACN, it's not like they are doing much better anyways except for lagos. |
damn Nigerians they'll eat just about anything they see smh........they should let it go maybe that's why we can't even boast of an amazing wild life in this country like fathers like sons |
nagoma: When you described Jesus as " the Son of God" - that's the mother of all blasphemes . No one can do better.well you wouldn't know would ya?....how hard is it to understand that God the father, son and holy spirit have always existed in an eternal relationship? we all know God is love, before anything was created who was God loving? since love is a feeling expressed towards someone/something.....Muslims get it all wrong cuz y'all don't ask yourselves why Christians claim Jesus as God since it came before islam... make the connections and find the truth. |
