emiye: That was a decoy statement from Akala, if he truly feared Ladoja, he would not voice it in public space, except through actions. I am sure he was happy to have 2 strong ibadan politicians contesting against him rather than one for obvious reasons. In politics, you pray that your main oppositions are polarised, that way you are more strengthened.

In 2011, those who believed Akala had performed poorly needed a new choice, they were faced with a choice of ajimobi (a former senator) OR Ladoja( a former governor). That is not to say PDP did not lose some votes due to Ladojas move to a new party, but the opposition parties were the biggest loser, most especially when the main opposition parties candidate are from the same region.
i never said that he made those statements in public.the internal friction withing the pdp and the enterance od ladoja was what tilted the election in favour of ajimobi or his acn,one a good day acn can never beat a united pdp in oyo state but lets just wait and see what happens in 2015

anslem kel: This is very interesting. When it comes to politics in the SW, Oyo state is a politically intense state and the battle for 2015 has just begun. With Ladoja and Akala joining forces to wrestle power from the incumbent Ajimobi of the ACN in 2015, it couldnt be more interesting than this. No doubt, the former govs are forces to reckon with in Oyo politics but the achievements of the incumbent gov will be a big obstacle to the two political gladiators. I see the former govs teaming up to raise a consensus candidate that will give the incumbent gov a good run for his money. Any angle u wanna look at it from, the fact remains that the polity is heated up and its getting more interesting and we the political spectators are watching as events unfold

Akala is eyeing Oyo North Senetorial ticket. The incumbent, Hosea Agboola (Akala's protege) is not letting go and he is now popular among the PDP power brokers. He will get the ticket again.

Akala has to look elsewhere for a platform to use because he knows without getting up from bed, he will defeat him.
where is agbarapo?has he left the pdp?

i like ur style , i like ur spirit and i like ur faith .
the number one thing on pdp members from state to federal is to win back the state and if that means sacrificing akala no problem there are plenty of compensations for him , from board chairman to ambassadorial post of even nnpc contracts , the main agenda on ground is pdp must win

akinalabi: You cant take control of PDP Oyo state just by bringing Akala in. There are too many stakeholders in Oyo PDP. Akala does not control the PDP.

Ladoja is not going to the PDP. The question is Is Akala going to Accord?
guy you make me laugh , akala to accord ? grin grin grin grin grin

Urine: You sound like a person that knows a lot about Oyo politics. Do you think an Ibadan man will team up with an Ogbomoso man to fight another Ibadan man? This is a trap for Akala, Ladoja wants to take control of the PDP. If you don't have the support of Ibadan folks you can't win the governorship election. At the end of the day, the next Governor will be determined by the Ibadan elders and we both know their decision will be final. Akala is not in the good books of Ibadan and Oke Ogun folks, he can only deliver Ogbomoso votes.
thank you , ladoja is a politician and he knows what he wants he will never be a governor again but he wants to be a power broker in oyo state, the battle is on for the next adedibu on now and the only way ladoja can keep his his turf is through pdp ,he has been lobbying to go back since and he was even touted at one time to be the next secetary of pdp until the slot was given to oyinlola
,the only way for ladoja to bounce back is through pdp and they can only do that if they can deliver oyo state .now in pdp the party is looking for a strong person like adedibu who they will hand over the state to , akala and ladoja will still fight when the time comes to share the spoils but for now their common opponent is ajimobi

emiye: Ladoja was impeached in 2006, he left the PDP thereafter, i think that year,2011 elections was 5 years after.

the 3 political gladiators in 2011 oyo state election (Ajimobi[ibadan man], Ladoja[ibadan man], Akala[ogbomoso man]).

Ladoja weakened the opposition votes way much more than the PDP votes by virtue of the two opposition candidates being from Ibadan. At least roughly 1/3 of the total votes cast for Akala was from Ogbomoso.
that is wher u are wrong, before the elections akala had always said it that the only person he fears is his boss ladoja.that is what he calls ladoja .now prior to ladoja enterance into the race there had been rumours that ibadan ppl dont ao someone to rule them twice .now akala is an ogbomosho man abd after he came back from obi innarguration in anambra he said he believed that he can make it ,ladoja contested just to pay back akala in his on coins, ibadan was split but if ladoja hadnt eneterd akala would have used his incumbency power to rake in more votes.the pact that was made on the day of election was what finished akala.the ibadan south west votes wasnt counted or release at the orders of ladoja it was that local goverment that won the game for ajimobi.ladoja only came to spoil akala chances .before the elections akala went to ladoja house up to 3 times trying to reconcile ith him and begging him to support him

dayokanu: Then you need to know that the man at the center this time is different from OBJ.

OBJ was a Yoruba man and he wanted to win the region for his party at all cost to prove he has a base

Jonathan wouldnt care about Oyo State or the SW, rather Jonathan would spend all his energy in the SS like OBJ did with his own region

GEJ in 2015 has more problem on his hands that worrying about SW. in 2003 OBJ was comfortable thats why he had time to play politics in the SW
we know the president and we know what he is capable of doing.HE IS MORE DANGEROUS AND RUTHLESS THAN OBJ.just wait and see.he needs al the states he can get and he will go all out for it .this time there wil be no gentleman politics you will see

You see people like you belong to the past. People like you think that people will vote for someone just because he shares 5-5hundred naira or plastic plates. You see politics has moved beyond that one. Politics especially as far as Southwest is concerned is all about competency and what you can deliver. I remembered than during the election Akala almost spent all the state treasury because of his election. Infact there was almost nothing that Akala didn't share out. Is it blackberry, he gave us more than 12 flat screen tvs, 24 decoders and dish(Both DSTV and Hitv) with installation, more than 24 generating sets. wetin Akala no share 4 dis world?!! cheesy We still collect am vote for Ajimobi/ACN. So shebi they have a lot of money let them come and share no problem grin cheesy Father xmas!!! So guy if this is what you call "Grass-root politics" then you're on your own o undecided cool
you got all my points wrong ,but let me simplify it for u.the first thing u have to ask urself is who are the grassroot politicians?u need to ask urself why saraki was able to control ilorin politics till the day he died?how many ppl is tinubu giving money to in lagos ?yet they stil love him?ppl like u and me constitute a very small percentage of total voters.you cant rig in a highbrow area ,rigging takes place in the slums and ghettos and it is those ppl that wil determine who wins the rigging game

Ladoja actually broke the PDP votes and not the oppositions votes.

Ladoja was a PDP strongman who left for Accord with his followers who were PDP members.

dayokanu: How come with this knowledge, Adedibu was unable to win in APP until he moved to the ruling party?

Adedibus APP was not even runner up in 1999?

Who is Adedibu without the federal backing he got from Obasanjo
thank u for this observation, with ur grassroot support it is almost impossible to win against a ruling govt except u have either state or federal backing.that is why with all the support adedibu had he still needed obj to give him that support .and tell me hen he crossed oved to the ruling party did he lose an election?
rigging will always be part of our elections and u will always need someone to cover ur backs,we all saw what acn did in lagos state council polls but becos they are in power they can influence .
one of the main grouse of obj against gej is that he allowed acn to clear the whole south west by not interfering with the elections.and that was because of the pact between acn and gej then
you see there is a lot the president can do and this time around pdp are going all out ,i have always said it one or to states from the southwest will fall into pdp hands.
the problem pdp has with the opposition is that pdp members left the party and teamed up with tinubu in 2007,atiku and co and this was because of obj attitude once the recocilation moves are completed then u wil see that pdp stil control.

Anyways, wv gone byond avn anoda Adedibu.
Ladoja is long gone and should respect himself.
yes there needs are different and been able to recognise those needs and address them is what makes a leader powerful.eg tinubu.
some of the policies of fashola were planned during the time of tinubu but he didnt carry them out because he wanted to consolidate his hold on the state.tinubu is a grassroot man that mingles and mingled well with the grassroot.that is why he is respected so also adedibu.
these grassroot are the people that can and will be convinced to vote against any govt that moves against them.many of u analysing issues here if u see u cutlass been brandished u will run .these grassroot are the ones that can resist rigging and even lay down their lives .no govt toys with them.adedibu and tinubu knows this.these set of people are always in contant touch with their baales, mogajis, and local leaders take it or leave it WHAT EVER THEY DECIDE TO DO IS FINAL.that is where the power of ladoja lies and akala.not wwith us that use laptops, blackberries and all these IT gadgets

In all of this, development and other issues will be affected which will SURELY affect the Oyo state people.

emiye: Things are not the same.

PDP of 2011 as the incumbent party rigged that election to get that much number of votes, but the rigging numbers were not enough to save them.... FaCT.

PDP no longer controls the state machinery, Voters turn out was relatively low also in 2011 due to the fear of violence as common with PDP. In 2015, all things being equal, more people will come out to vote.

Ladoja candidacy in 2011 succeeded in spilting Ibadan votes, as ajimobi and Ladoja were both from Ibadan.

In 2015, ajimobi will garner nothing less than 60% of total votes cast, irrespective of the state opposition merger or acquisition. BOOKMARKED.

funshint: Hey Mr man stop saying trash; when you don't know something you keep quiet! Let me give you the real facts before people like you start distorting history. Before the election in 2011; Ajimobi/ACN clearly had the highest chance of winning because people were already tired of the setback brought upon them by the Akala/PDP administration in Oyo state. Remember that prior to the election Ladoja never intended running for the governorship because of the tense political climate of Oyo state at that time. Now the election was clearly between Ajimobi and Akala with Ajimobi having the higher chance between the duo; Ladoja was not even in the equation. Now let me list out the things that gave Ajimobi/ACN advantage over Akala:
1. Mal-administration by Akala/PDP government in Oyo state in terms of unprecedented level of violence in the state, decay of infrastructures and the general high level of ineptitude/incompetence exhibited by the Akala/PDP government in the state.
2. The rising profile of ACN in south-west as a development oriented party
3. Governor Babatunde Fashola's ACN led administration in Lagos state which people saw as a model type of government worthy of emulation
4. Ajimobi's antecedent in politics of Oyo state being a former senator in the state from 1999-2003 and having clearly won the gubernatorial election under ANPP in 2007 but denied his victory by Obasanjo/PDP's style of election rigging/manipultion
5. PDP's falling profile in Southwest having lost Osun, Ekiti, Ondo and a perpectual loser in Lagos state.
6. The electoral reform with the new system of voting introduced by INEC/Jega through declaration of votes at each polling centres before collation thus making rigging and manipulation of election result/figures very difficult.
7. The conflict between Akala and Alaafin of Oyo which the later sworn never to support Akala thus aligning his support with Ajimobi/ACN
It is so irritating whenever people say Ladoja helped Ajimobi to win in 2011; as we all know that Ladoja did not come out until very few months to the election when he realised that the opposition had gained a solid support in the state. Look, majority of people that voted for Ladoja were erstwhile in support of the oppostion led by Ajimobi/ACN. Ladoja was only able to gain their support because of the sympathy most people felt for him having been betrayed by Akala when he was the governor. He(Ladoja) started running a campaign of sympathy through the video he was distributing showing the political crises, betrayal and his eventual impeachment when he was governor in Oyo state; check
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0Tt4f9c974. Also he succeeded in brainwashing many people by running campaign of blackmail/falsehood against ACN especially against Bola Tinubu; alleging them of coming to Oyo state with the intention to loot and share the state treasury. But because people wanted a change and still considered Ladoja as birds of thesame feathers with PDP; majority still gave their unalloyed support to Ajimobi/ACN. Infact with Ladoja coming into the race he was considered as a "spoiler" because he almost divided the vote of the opposition which would have giving Akala/PDP undue advantage if not for God. Also don't forget that Ladoja many times vehemently opposed stepping down for Ajimobi because of his own selfish ambition to return to the government house. And also most people that voted for Ladoja only voted for him out of sympathy; not based on performance because he was also as useless as Akala when he was the governor.
Now with Ladoja aligning his support with that beast called "Akala" he's going to lose a lot of admirers and supporters, infact he just dug his grave politically. And also not forgetting that Ladoja is a coward as regards honouring agreements and Akala is known for being a serial betrayal; this is a union between two crocodiles because none of the two will step down for eachother when the time comes thus the union is bound to fail and Oyo state people are not ready for the repeat of violence/turmoil brought upon them by these two dogs(Akala and Ladoja). This union is nothing but a farce; it is bound to FAIL!!!
Let me state it LOUD and CLEAR now with the unprecedented high level of performance and governance by the ACN/Ajimobi led administration in Oyo state, let 1000 Ladoja/Akala come together to fight Ajimobi they will be squarely be defeated and disgraced by God's grace!!!
i dont trade words or insults online ,it is against my upbringing.but just wait and see.

TriPorth: Your claim is unfounded. Who among Ibadan elders pleaded with Ladoja? Why all these concocted lies in order to give face to those already spent politically? To set the record straight for you, Ajimobe from the start of the race knew he would never win in Ibadan, owing to his popularity and the brigandage that rented the moment. Contrary to your claim, Ladoja "fight tooth and nail" but eventually lost to Akala in Ibadan. Ajimobi beats the duo miraculously in Ibadan and consolidate record with his triumph in Oke-Ogun with the aid of Ikubabayeye-Alaafin Oyo. Despite the money rain, bloodletting and intimidation they lost to Ajimobi. This is the rundown, the lesson here is that the votes in Ibadan didi not seal the Ajimobi victory but that from Oke-Ogu. Does the Oke-Ogun belong to Alao-Adewolu? I believe it's in the confide of Ikubabayeye. This should summarize the 2015.
