Wizee: TribalismIt can destroy a country, any society actually. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes great tragedy to bring a country together. |
Nigeria's problem is that we reacted poorly to the civil war, instead of reconciling the issue, figuring out why the Igbo felt the need to wage deadly war we chose to strip them of the power to do so ever again and guaranteeing that no one else ever could, power is power, you cannot be selective of what you deny people, you simply deny people all power or no power, the Igbo states as well as all Nigeria was stripped of the power to resist government and everything else and here's the kicker, the power and resources required to develop goes along with it, all handed to the presidency. One man to rule over 170 million people, it is far far too much work and he is bound to fail. Now we have state governments who cannot really do anything and local governments that serve to hinder and infringe on state power only. The entire system of government doesn't work, by worrying more about potential for abuse rather than development we have created a centralized government that is overwhelmed in its duties and cannot be held accountable meanwhile most of the nation is powerless to effect change in the nation and everything has gone south, nothing outside the presidency is of much matter and therefore everything fails. In short, the presidency and its imperial powers are what is killing Nigeria because the result is that the rest of the government has no power.
Sounds like you need a "Checks and balances" system. Forgive me for butting in. I am not Nigerian. Perhaps my view is not relevant. I mean no disrespect. What you said makes sense, as well as many others here. Good luck. Sincerely, I have grow to love the Nigerian people and wish only the best. |
valboy20: is that you on your profile?Yes. It was taken in April. |
MR MICKMEN: call am metaphorLol I know what a metaphor is.I understood what he was saying. I was simply making light of another form of the same metaphor. Thanks for the heads up though. ![]() Oops that was not for me...I think that is why he used the phrase. Look at what he said and check out his profile...Once I stopped ogling his abs and pecs I read it. He seems to be an intelligent guy. |
Beautifully put |

flow1759: You really don't know how to speak and write Pidgin? Are you kidding me? Are you for real?Flow, I never said I was Nigerian. I will write this in English, my first language. I have never stepped foot in Africa, much less Nigeria. I was born in LA, California USA. I was, however, raised in Arizona and Texas USA. I went to college in Provo Utah, USA @ Brigham Young University. I majored in English. Languages have always come easy to me. I click with them somehow. I am an English teacher in a city in Texas. I learned the little I know of Pidgin on Google, and here in NL. I also have some friends in Nigeria, as I said somewhere here in NL. I can't remember where I wrote it. They live in Ikorodu, Lagos and on Victoria Island. I don't know how to say or write Pidgin very well, but "I go learn." I can read your story, because I have learned enough to piece things together. I don't always understand all of it, but I get the gist. What I don't know, I ask my friends, or I look it up. I'm sorry if I have offended or upset you in some way. I do enjoy your story. It makes me laugh. I will continue to follow. Again, it was never my intention to upset you. As "I" flow O! Tex |
I'm actually impressed with your attempts at pidgin. So I'll help out some. Say the above like this: 'Thank you Flow.I don tell u say night never reach for America.I go sleep later. U no dey disappoint for this your tori/yarns.' Cheers
Thanks |
Van, sorry I didn't comment earlier. I couldn't read at that time. I wanted to give u a smile though. I have read it now. Don't worry about those who want u 2 update quicker. A real man takes care of business first. I will be here when u are ready to update, and I will follow your next writeup. Keep up the good work. Tex |
