Kay17: How is it possible to know that the particulars information and functional complexity are hallmarks when there is lack of non designs whose lack of information and functional complexity would have clearly demonstrated the efficacy of your argument!
At the end of the day, we both have to realize that some of these functional complexity is organized by Nature and probably God is the ultimate conductor, but you must concede that Nature is indeed or at least an agent of the ultimate conductor. @the bolded I thought you were an Atheist. tbaba1234: There is enough scholarly material about Benin history. Most of the people here are not learned and speak from predetermined prejudices.
If history presents what is known from preserved records as opposed to myths of who descended from who, tribal rivalries will be reduced.
Nothing in the piece is controversial at least from a scholarly point of view. Hello tbaba123. Long time. My point exactly. The problem is that even the learned, as you describe them, have these "predetermined prejudices ". It may very well take another generation or two to change them. Unfortunately much of the rich history of the many tribes of Nigeria could be lost in that time. Continue to read and study your history. Hopefully there are others, from other tribes, who are doing the same. You, and they, may very well be the keepers of your heritage. Don't allow it to be lost. Nice write up BTW. |

Nicely done. I like how you used personification to bring your fears to life and speak to them. You started out using a rhyming scheme in stanzas 1-4 and continued in your last one. You dropped it in stanzas 5-6. You might try fixing that. Insightful work. |

saintdennis: That's what I don't get... because even history students in school RARELY discuss naija history, they mainly concerned with discussing foreigners. Such a shame. Which version of history are you talking about here? On this one thread few can agree on where boundaries were, who lived where, what they wore, what language was spoken first, which religions were here first and which tribe was most influential. Imagine a history class where radical tribalists start physically fighting each other over perceived differences. Is Nigeria ready to collect it's various histories and become one nation? I often wonder. I've been talking to Nigerians for a few years now. Is it possible to write a history book that won't cause a riot? You tell me? History is extremely important. If nothing else, so we don't make the same mistakes over and over. It is also important to know where we come from. Those who don't remember the past are condemned to repeat it. ~ George Santayana |

The Stars Are Blue Tonight by Tex
We used to lie beneath the stars And talk about our hopes and dreams. They shined bright for us so many nights, As we talked about our plans and schemes.
Our minds still innocent. Not yet jaded...all seemed possible. Our hearts reflected the lights in the night sky. The world still our oyster...still noble.
On those nights...we were the best of friends. So alive! All was well. Cocooned in a world of our own, To you my secrets tell.
In those days we created a bond, A connection never to be broken. The links between hard as steel...unbreakable! A love shared, but not always spoken.
Experience and life have separated us. Our paths divergent it seems. To each a life of our own. No longer together under those radiant beams.
It's always been me and you. Please let me share your fight. Without you the gloom sets in And the stars are blue tonight. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

I have six brothers. Three older and three younger. The one just older than me and I were always close growing up. He now has cancer. Out of all of us kids I am the only one who is a 100% match for a bone marrow transplant. He however, has decided not to do the procedure. His children and I have tried, to no avail, to convince him to do it. This next poem is for him. I was very emotional when I wrote it so it may not be perfect. 3 Likes 3 Shares |
