walcolm: you are yourself guilty of name calling on this forum....man in the mirrorBecause i know fandroids when I see them, usually the broke guys who just bought an Android device, download all the talking points from GSMArena and start giving us bullcrap here. Nothing wrong with calling someone a 'Fandroid' or 'Apple Fanboy'. Everything wrong with words like 'iSheep' and 'iDiot'. of course i've been guilty of calling people here on this forum 'Samsung Sheep'...that's why if you knew how to read, you'd see that I said 9 out of 10 times and not 10 out of 10 ![]() |
The main reason why people are fanboys is because they are broke. They cannot afford everything, they settle for one...and that's fine and good. What's not fine is that they now feel so INSECURE about their purchase and have to make fun of and run down the competition just to feel better about their purchases. So..rule of thumb. Anywhere you see someone call people 'iSheep' or 'iDiots' or 'seXbox' or 'gaystation3', 9 out of 10 times they are poor people. My devices Blackberry bold 9900 Galaxy S III Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Blackberry Playbook wifi Apple iPad (3rd generation) Lenovo A750 (Android) Nook Color (rooted, running ICS) Game consoles Nintendo 3DS (ok, sold this one) Playstation Vita Playstation 3 (x2, one 60GB launch edition, jailbroken...the other not jailbroken) Xbox 360 Slim Nintendo Wii Why should i spend time on a forum comparing the abilities of my PS3 compared to the upcoming WiiU when i can just buy it when it comes out and have 'em all? ![]() |
kobikwelu: Personlly, i have always believed that what drives apples is just hype....4S released last year and a year later, the sharp guys released 5 (just about the same time that most of those contracts on the 4s would expire!!!) one thing is those apple guys are breaking all records pushing a mirage....1. Actually most contracts in the US are 2 years...so it's actually the contracts for the iPhone 4 that will be up by this time 2. Annual release of a flagship model is EXACTLY the same model Samsung is following with the Galaxy Note II and the Galaxy S III You're not very bright, are you? |
walcolm: guy, this your post is packed with untruths... Samsung doesn't show off S-voice in 'apple' attack video and there's not even anything called retina in Samsung because 'retina' has probably already been patented by apple. oh btw, Jelly bean is all Google as you knowIt's not your fault you cannot read. Where did I say the commercial showed off S-Voice? Samsung showed off S-Voice in their Galaxy S III launch. I put 'Retina' in quotes because it's an Apple marketing term...but it's generally accepted to refer to screens with high pixel density that result in individual pixels not being distinguishable by the human retina from normal viewing range. Smart Stay would NEVER be a headliner because it just doesn't work for many people. Palm swipe capture is a useless feature. it's much easier to take a snapshot with button press combinations...which is why Samsung that in too. Shake to Update is akin to 'pull to refresh' already existing in many iOS apps since 2010...and it has never been put forward as a headline feature. As a Galaxy S III owner (and someone who has helped a few other folks grab theirs), I have never seen anyone use that feature aside from using it as a bragging point or to demo multitasking. Real world usage? Nearly nil. What makes your argument rather m0r0nic is that nearly all those features were headlined in the Galaxy S III launch conference. Even in the first Samsung print ad targeting Apple, Samsung took pains to list all these as killer, differentiating features. Finally, nobody held a gun to your head to force you to buy Apple products. In fact, Samsung is even the one that you ought to worry about seeing as how they are negatively impacting all the other Android OEMs. Want proof? I challenge you to name off head the innovative software/innovations brought by HTC, Sony and Motorola. Samsung sheep ![]() |
Let the OP tell us what happened to the Buddhist population of what is now Afghanistan. Let his also tell us of the former inhabitants of what is now Adamawa State in Nigeria, where Dan Fodio's general Adamawa drove them off from their lands to islamize the region. Nonsense! |
dts d lamest thing u said. voice synth nd commands were on featurephones before siri came out. dts what u probably dont know
I had voice command on my Windows Mobile phone in 2006. If you think Siri is anything like that, you're a tech illiterate as I suspect you are. |
Ahahah Let Apple come out with their own rebuttal video naa
They don't need to. I doubt that ad will sway anyone who's already made up their mind to buy the iPhone 5. |
SimonAndal: Actually it's 120fpsAnd my point still stands. The ad is hilarious in some spots though. |
Akainzo: As stated in my previous post above, you simply lack analytical capabilities.Just FYI, my dear m0r0n, since iOS 4 the iPad and iPhone can share and connect to internet via bluetooth. I stress on Wifi because it's more efficient. Stop trying to wriggle out of this on a technicality and inject some logic into your arguments. You claim is Blackberry + Playbook Wifi = internet. I counter with iPad + iPhone/Android/WP = Internet. And you're whining? Akainzo: You are a certified dunce! You sell off the old 9900, to buy a new 9900 in search of better battery lifeWell yes. I sold off the 9930 to get a 9900 because there are more leaked firmware available for it. On all the attempts to get a decent battery life on my phone, i'd been advised on crackberry that it COULD be a device issue. I've traded up devices in the past to see if I could eliminate that loophole. Have I now educated you, dunce? Akainzo: How come you conveniently left out your experience on the 2.1 and went gung-ho that the OS was unstable while playing Android ports...because at that point I was disputing your assertion that the Playbook could run all android apps perfectly? Is your attention span that short? I've noticed you struggle with remembering things you've said before. You may need to see a doctor for that. I see how you sidestepped atoning for the white lie I caught you in (when you said i claimed to have only used a PlayBook for one day) Akainzo: And if it loads the animations faster, the app would become sluggish right? SMHWhat does this have to do with ANIMATIONS, you dolt?!! When all the assets and textures are loaded up, the one that loaded up in 2 seconds is not necessarily going to be faster than the one that loaded up in 3 seconds. What has the game assets have to do with animations? Since the ipads have much better GPUs, there's no way 3d performance can be inferior...unless the software was poorly optimized. I do not appreciate how I teach you these things and you show a shameful lack of appreciation. Akainzo: Just to show you that the same is employed during boot up. If it is employed during app load times, it is employed during boot up. When booted up in 30 seconds, click the WiFi settings and see what happensAre you INSANE?! How can a splash screen transition displayed in a split second be the same as the boot up time of the OS? When booted up, clicking the settings icon opens it up pronto. I suggest you go beg someone to let you try out his iPad or even an Android device to see for yourself. You're a tech illiterate, i swear. Akainzo: Let me humor you, ok my smartphone is not available, but a colleague has a Nokia with Bluetooth. The PlayBook can use that to get to the internet while the iPad cannot. It is that simple. On the Nokia phone, download joikuspot, install and share your internet connection with the ipad via Wifi . This is an unlikely scenario. Not everyone is a n00b like you. Akainzo: You’d struggle really, you lack anything that is seemingly beyond 1+1. Read my post carefully, you questioned why anybody would want to use an option simply because it doesn’t exist on the iPad, so I pointed you to the previous isheep nonsense that was displayed during antennagate. Hope you can now wrap your brain around it now.No amount of obfuscation will allow you get away with the idiocy of bringing up 2010's iPhone 'Antennagate' issue (which wasn't nearly as prevalent as you think) in an ipad vs playbook discussion. You should be ashamed of yourself for that doltish diversion. Akainzo: Na wa for your lies o! Check amazon.com, the costly Mini HDMI cable is $6.81 while the cheapest iPad HDMI adapter is $25.62 and that is just the adapter, then you’d still need to buy the cable! You do need to go brush up on your maths. So the HDMI adapter is a few dollars more...obviously cost of the HDMI cable is not factored in because it is ubiquitous, you dumbass. If you don't have at least 2 HDMI cables hanging around your house already, you're living in the stone age. Next thing you'll tell me you 've still got an old CRT TV Akainzo: If it was never released, it wouldn’t have mattered to me. However, it is of no consequence as from a marketing point of view I’d expect it to come to iOS earlier than the PlayBook. So instead of wireless Airplay, playing Real Racing 3 on my 47 inch LED TV, i'm supposed to by a 30 ft HDMI cable, snake it across my parlor just to sit comfortably on my favorite chair and use my tablet? Shame the playbook's 'multitasking prowess' did not translate to sales until they had to cut the price in desperation ![]() Akainzo: Better cameras? Is it the front camera or the back ones? Abeg go read the specs of the cameras, and while at it check out the stereos on the two of them.iPad 3 has a better primary camera and a worse secondary camera than the Playbook. What do you mean by 'stereos'. Lol. this is how you know empty heads that copy and paste stuff from Crackberry or GSMArena without understanding what they are copying. What you meant to talk about was the speakers, with the Playbook having stereo speakers and the ipad making do with a mono speaker. Funny how you tactfully ignored GPU, build quality, thinness, battery life, screen resolution, screen color gamut, better contrast and several other areas where the playbook is severely outclassed In summary, you bought a cheap tablet and I know you're desperate to believe it's the better buy...but it sure isn't anywhere near the top of the line Android and iOS tablets...which is why even at the low price points it is being murdered by the likes of the Kindle fire. |
The best part about these ads is they're accurate. Everyone is getting excited for features that have been on the market for a year
You mean like Samsung showing off S-Voice that's a clone of Siri....that had been available for half a year on iOS? Or Every Android fan going crazy for Jellybean's 60fps smoothness that iOS has had for years? Or Samsung showing off the Galaxy Note and SGS III's 'retina' pixel density that had been available on the iPhone 4 since 2010? Everyone is still playing catch up with everyone else ![]() |
Akainzo: You are simple trying to be clever by half. The above will be a Nexus 7 + Etisalat MiFi + a smartphone which would be greater than a PlayBook + a smartphone! This is 2012..can it be that this fellow does not know what Mobile Hotspot is? With any modern smartphone, you do not need a Mifi to set up a wireless network. The phone sets up the Wireless Access point which your tablet connects to. if you take out smartphones (note that this includes Blackberries too) and Wifi, there's no way the Wifi playbook can connect to the internet. I think your confusion stems from your ignorance as to what wireless tethering/portable hotspot is in Android or iOS devices. hell, even BBOS 7 devices running 7.1 firmware have this feature. Akainzo: Yet you have bought Four Bold 9900sI have never met anyone who scams with a BB and you're the first person to mention such in my hearing. This seems to me to be a Freudian slip. Are you a scammer? Either way, I have changed BBs repeatedly trying to get good battery life...each time selling off the old one. Akainzo: My guy, the Android player is not an app, it is an integral part of the PlayBook OS thus you are therefore referring to the PlayBook OS. I can’t believe that you know all this by only using the PlayBook for only One day as you claimed! Haba!!!!!1) Where did I claim the Android player is an app? it's a runtime that was not all that stable in the early 2.0 release. I'm running the 2.1 beta and it's more stable, less Android app crashes. 2) Where did I claim i'd used the playBook for only one day? Is your paranoia getting the best of you now? Akainzo: You need to watch the video again and listen better. Faster and smoother is why iOS ate dust. The developer says it loads up faster. nothing about 'smoother'. Akainzo: Start from here, then proceed to learn more: http://www.geek.com/articles/mobile/how-ios-tricks-you-into-thinking-it-is-fast-20120531/I talked about iOS boot times of less than 30 seconds, nearly 5 times quicker than the Playbook and you're pointing me to an article that talks about iOS using a splashscreen for a split second to provide an illusion that an app has launched instantly. How does this apply here? Are you sure you aren't inebriated? Akainzo: As stated earlier above, all that you mentioned are WiFi implementations, what happens when none of these WiFi implementations is available? That scenario is only possible when your smartphone isn't with you. In such a scenario, Bluetooth will not be available either...and thus neither the ipad or the Playbook will be able to connect to the Internet. Akainzo: I am not surprised, before Apple solved the antennagate issue, many of you questioned why we needed to hold our phones with the right hand. Continue with your tomfoolery.Antennagate was solved with the iPhone 4S....and i struggle to understand why you're bringing up the iPhone in an ipad vs Playbook argument. This is veering towards idiocy. Akainzo: I don’t need a cheapo HDMI adapter, HDMI out is native to the PlayBook. And much more, I can even have a 2 screen setup with what is on the HDMI being different from what is showing on the PlayBook screen! That way I can be showing a movie via the HDMI out and still be playing Modern Combat 3 on the PlayBook screen. Don’t worry, I can see the envy on your faceYou'll need a mini HDMI cable. That can run you as much as the HDMI adapter for the iPad. Glad you mentioned Modern Combat 3. Just released on the Playbook, has been out for AGES on iOS and Android. When are you guys gonna get NOVA 3 anyway? ![]() Since I can't envision a scenario where i'd be hunched near my TV with a cable running from the Playbook in my hand to my TV, I cannot say i'm feeling any Envy. I can use Airplay and lean back in my house, 10ft away from the TV and mirroring my screen and content. Akainzo: Correction, I said it is better than the iPad spec for spec. So the iPad is 10” and the PlayBook is 7”, is the Galaxy tab 10” better than the Galaxy Tab 7 or the Nexus 7 based on solely the screen estate?GPU: iPad PowerVR SGX 543 MP4. PlayBook SGX 540. The iPad 3 CRUSHES, SMASHES, OBLITERATES and ANNIHILATES the seriously ageing SGX 540 in the Playbook Screen resolution is no contest. Battery life of the ipads CRUSH the Playbook https://images.anandtech.com/graphs/graph4266/36715.png https://images.anandtech.com/graphs/graph4266/36714.png Better cameras in the iPad 3. Are you serious...or are you just trolling? |
Akainzo: So in essence you do not understand what is called NATIVE capabilities. So let me explain to you.BWAHAHAHAHA 4llerbuntu, get a load of this clown. What possible scenario do you envisage where you have Bluetooth and no Wifi? Without a Blackberry phone, the Playbook Wifi cannot connect to the internet without Wifi. With a Blackberry you Bridge via Bluetooth. With an Ipad you use your phone's mobile hotspot. Why is this extremely simple point so difficult for you to comprehend? |
all4naija: How is Exynos 4 Quad chip at 1.4GHZ(gigahertz)ARM Cortex A9 compare to iphone 5 A6 not faster and superior in that sense? Please, explain why you think it is not true? The Qualcomm S4 is dual core, benchmarks much better than the quad core Tegra 3 in the HTC One X. But thanks for letting us all know you know little about tech ![]() |
By the way, here's the Sunspider score for iPhone 5....better than any smartphone ever made https://images.anandtech.com/doci/6309/49915.png This comes from Anandtech, by the way, so it is incontestable. |
boladez: Na wah o, i am quite shocked that the level of enlightenment and exposure is quite low in Nigeria , people prefer to watch home videos and music videos rather than read and listen and write and be a meaningful contributor to the country. I say this because of the quality of posts and suggestions like LASTMA is a private Army, Scrap LASTMA etc. I am sure if you knew Lagos before LASTMA you would have held a different opinion. If LASTMA is scrapped will you replace them with police or the FRSC or those useless Fed min of works officials.? Let the educated and elite use their heads to think not whimper in our closets. One says he will kill LASTMA men , please do so and that will change your life forever. Do you think a human life is that worthless? Some few are just a wasted generation of people with the wrongest of all values!See this dolt! Were you under a rock when the LASTMA commander was desperately trying to pin the death of one of his employees on an innocent lady? The commander INSISTED several times that the lady (who was in a parked vehicle) ran down a LASTMA employee and killed him...and then escaped to a nearby estate. if not for eyewitnesses, this woman would still be on trial for murder! Tell us the educational criteria that one needs to get to be in LASTMA before you start opening your mouth to spew imbecilic nonsense. If Sanitizing Lagos was their objective, they would have been airing sensitizing information on the radio and TV stations to tell people not to cross those white lines. One-way streets would be marked boldly. LASTMA officials would not be lying in ambush to trick people into breaking the law. In more developed climes, agencies like LASTMA are designed to prevent road accidents and boost public safety. In Lagos state they are a cash generation outfit. Your problem is that you are a bush man. I do not doubt that you have some money, but that apparently has not taken the bushness out of you. If not, you would not be defending an agency whose agents would forcefully enter your vehicle without a warrant, whose agents would illegally confiscate your car keys. |
all4naija: I don't understand you clearly. Do you mean the source of the ad? If that is what you are on about it is from Samsung recent ad for the iPhone 5 release comparison. This is the link to the ad: http://phandroid.com/2012/09/15/samsung-galaxy-s3-vs-iphone-it-doesnt-take-a-genius/. What actually makes you think it is silly? Indeed, I have weighed into the claims and Samsung is right in almost everything on that so called silly ad.Samsung basically listed every single software gimmick they had in that list, and grouped all Apple's extra features under iOS6. That's laughable. Smart Stay, tilt to zoom, shake to update are all gimmicks that most people disable once they boot up the SGS III. Palm swipe to capture is not nearly as ergonomic as pressing the home + power button on the iPhone or even on the Galaxy S III itself! Of course Samsung handily left out stuff like Airplay from the iOS side of the equation. Besides, if you were ever going to compare the phones based on software, iOS simply cannot be beat for the applications available for it. You could also add 'thousands of third party accessories' on the left hand side and on the right....zilch ![]() Despite Samsung's claims of much better battery life than the iPhone 5, we see from Anandtech's benchmarks that the Galaxy S III is inferior to the battery life of the iPhone 4S in several categories and only just edges it in cellular talk time. Since the iPhone 5 has better battery life than the iPhone 4S...expect Samsung's claims to be disproved https://images.anandtech.com/graphs/graph6022/47401.png https://images.anandtech.com/graphs/graph6022/47403.png https://images.anandtech.com/graphs/graph6022/47404.png Samsung also tries to spin it that a 4.8 inch screen is better than a 4 inch screen. That is subjective and not true for everyone. many people do not want giant screens... Finally, the Galaxy S III in that image is the US variant with the Adreno 225...which has a WEAKER graphics card than that found in the old iPhone 4S, not to talk of the iPhone 5. Bottom line is that games will look better on the iPhone 4S than the US Galaxy S III...and the iPhone 5's GPU will absolutely OBLITERATE that in the US Galaxy S III. |
all4naija: https://1.androidauthority.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/iphone-5-vs-galaxy-s3-ad-full.jpgI gave you too much credit...if you're willing to quote that stupid ad ![]() |
4llerbuntu: u can argue till ur blue in the face with tex, once he toes a line .......I have always conceded to superior LOGIC. Not just the 'iPhone is baaaad, samsung is gooood' drivel i seem to hear on nairaland. I can't recall ever sticking my neck out for a Wp7 being a better purchase than android. I showed you why I thought Nokia made the right call by not going Android. So far, time has not proven me wrong. HTC, Sony, LG, Motorola...all make less than 3% of the total Smartphone profits COMBINED. Unless you're Sasmsung, Android is no longer a winning ticket. Samsung phones have ANNIHILATED sales of other Android OEMs in Europe. In north america, all others have been speedily crushed by the Galaxy S III. Motorola just launched a couple of Android devices on Verizon. Watch those phones get murdered by 1) iPhone 5 2) Galaxy S III 3) Galaxy Note II and then potentially one of Nokia's Lumia phones. |
4llerbuntu: u cry, a lot... then u gum d oda parts back with eba or fufulol Most likely, other phones will start using nanoSIM from next year. it does provide some space savings afterall. Just cutting a SIM card down will not work though. the nanosim is thinner than the Microsim so you'll still need to sandpaper it down a bit |
Knight1: go to google play and search for a contacts/sms/call log back up app. this will back them up on your sd. then backup your sd on your pc. for ROM, you can check the latest CYANOGENMOD has for you....or you could give him the simple solution of just backing up via Samsung Kies. |
walcolm: i dont know where you read or watched your review. the complaint about the GSIII i have heard talked about in review has to do wit the fact that the body is made of glossy, plastic material. not a single one about it not feeling comfortable and natural when you hold itCome off it, everyone knows the initial reaction to the Galaxy S III's design was rather unimpressive. After it came out, the opinion was revised to being decent looking...but not in any way outstanding. If you want to see a beautiful phone, check out the HTC One X. |
How are you guys gonna get around the nanoSIM issue? |
samir101ng: For me personally, i think am gonna get an Ipod Touch 32GB (Silver) $299. You get almost all the benefits of an Iphone without the high cost and unlocking/Jailbreaking wahala. But men, the unlocked Iphone 5 is expensive, here are the prices:That isn't any cheaper than the Galaxy S III...and Nigerians are buying those with glee. There are 4 official Apple affiliated stores in Nigeria...so no need to worry about importing. |
bigbrovar: I will try to refrain from turning this into a android vs wp debate. That's a topic for another day. All I will just say is. Specs does matter at the end of the day. If the first and second Gen wp hadn't had a hardware limitations and had shipped with powerful processing powers they would not have had problems updating and would have been eligible to run wp8. Even the iPhone often touted as the benchmark for fluidity even on lower spec hardware compared to Android saw the iPhone5 Shipping with a A6 processor based on cortex 15 which is generations ahead of anything running on any smartphone or tablet.. with a gb of ram this is the same iPhone said to only need a fraction of what android devices need to run like liquid yet apple is not taking any risk or pulling punches.Theverge, Anandtech, Engadget, Gizmodo, Slashgear, Wired, Arstechnica....you name it, all had very positive impressions of the lumia 920. I don't know where you got your 'meh' reaction from. Source please? |
bigbrovar: Yeah Much good it did the x1 and the L900 before it. And like you noted about the superLCD Nokia is not the first to ship this tech. Might be marginally better than competition but its not something mind blowing as the way super amoled+ was with the sgs2 which completely out classed the existing competition when it was released.1. the words 'playing catchup' are used by Android fanboys to suppress genuine improvements in competing devices. Android devices led the specs race because a) the poorly coded Android OS genuinely needed powerful hardware to run anywhere near as smooth as their competitors b) There are far more OEMs making Android devices than any other mobile OS...so new tech is much more likely to debut there. I didn't see anyone tell us how Android was playing catchup when they debuted project butter on Jelly bean which was designed to bring the level of smoothness that WP and iOS users had been used to for ages. Catchup or not, the Lumia 920 has a better screen than the SGS III which is THE Android flagship. That's what matters now. Specs of the day are what is used to compare devices. 2) Your observations on the Lumia 920 launch are overly pessimistic. The buzz online was VERY favourable for Nokia. The majority of the tech journalists at the venue were very impressed with the looks, build quality and the camera features...with lots of kudos for the curved screen. The reactions on Twitter were pretty positive, with the only dissenting voices mainly complaining about the dilution of the Pureview branding. It's anybody's guess whether WP8 still has a fighting chance...but i'd say the Nokia 920 is really leading that charge in a positive way. For the low end market, Nokia still has a chance to make a dent in the Chinese market. No matter how many Android phones are sold for $50 in the market, the likes of Lenovo have shown convincingly that the public are willing and eager to put down up to $200 - $250 for a low end phone. It's that market Nokia can excel in. They've recently inked a deal with the largest telco in China to stock the Lumia 920. China aside, there's india. India historically has been a strong market for Nokia...and a low end device there will sell MILLIONS. No question about that. The reason why Nokia's share price took a beating was that there were no definite announcements on price and release dates. Those are the numbers analysts thrive on, not tech specs. Why do you think Apple's stock price is rising like mad after the reports of incredible pre-order numbers came out? |
Sure the iphone5 will sell, no argument but if Apple doesn't get back to being the innovators they known for being we aint gonna be seeing the same numbers in the future. BTW does it say how many iphone users don't want to buy the new iphone? *UPDATE: Only 76% of iphone users are looking to upgrade.
Before you posted this inane rebuttal, did you consider the fact that up to 50% of iPhone users are using the 4S...which was released a year ago...and most of those people surveyed are on a 2 year contract? if anything, 76% upgrade rate is AMAZING. You need to think these things through. |
Sad thing about life...a topic about one very smart, very courageous legend...and most of the comments here are from imbecilic dolts. Cremation is not 'occultic'. Scattering ashes in the sea is not new. aryzgreat: Don't think i will ever go to bar beach again, all these creamated bodies will definitely be washed towards the shores and we swim into burnt bodies, kai!No, m0r0n, nobody drinks sea water. What kind of education did you receive if you think people quaff the salty sea water? |
jmaine: Hopefully, Apple will buckle up to further up the ante in the mobilesphere . . .LMAO! iPhone 5 pre-orders are incredible so far. Don't believe all the bitter fanboys...iPhone 5 will outsell every damn thing this year and well into the next year. http://thenextweb.com/apple/2012/09/14/one-third-americans-want-iphone-5-56-blackberry-users-32-android-users-survey/ 32% of Android users surveyed want to switch to iPhone 5 |
