candieangel12: So after waitin months for a new phone, I was stuck btwn purchasin d gs3 or gettin d iphone5. Well after reviewin d specs 4 both phones I hv 2 say dat d gs3 beat d iphone5 hands down. 2Day I finally went n boughtd gs3 4 $600 n I an in luv. I dont regret my decision at all. Dis phone is by far d best I hv used n I hv been an apple user frm day 1. D iphone5 cannot compare to d gs3 at all. D iphone 5 is not very much different dan d iphone 4s
Hmm...you compared specs, huh?

You have no idea which phone has a better camera. In fact, it's likely to be the iPhone because it's an improvement over the 4S...which was already neck-and-neck with the SGS III
You have no idea which phone has a better CPU. In fact, it's likely to be the iPhone if the rumors are true that the CPU used is the Cortex A-15.
You've got no idea on the exact GPU in the iPhone 5. It could actually be better than the GPU in the Quad core SGS III...especially if its the same quad core GPU in the new iPad...or even the first SGX 6 series GPU.

So I ask you...where did you 'review the specs' from?

candieangel12: D iphone 5 has an 8mp back camera n 0.9mp front camera whereas d gs3 has an 8mp back camera n 1.9 front camera. So d gs3 pass d iphone 5 in camera quality
Actually the front camera in the iPhone 5 is 1.2 MP...and blindly comparing megapixels is no way to judge a camera's ability. an 8MP point and shoot camera is not nearly comparable to an 8MP DSLR.

All you tech neophytes sef...I'm sure you think a 2005 Pentium 4 3.3Ghz is faster than a 2012 Core i7 CPU running at 2.3Ghz. cheesy

Please let it be known to this Akainzo fellow that when we are talking about the Playbook, we mean the tablet alone. All this desperate lumping of the tablet with a Blackberry phone just smacks of desperation.
Phones › Re: Samsung, HTC To Block iPhone 5 Sales In US & EU Using LTE Patents by texazzpete(m): 11:34pm On Sep 14, 2012
Akainzo: Comprehension is really your problem, that you can afford the extra cost does not invalidate that the PlayBook combo is the cheapest means of getting to the internet on any tablet. Also note that, the PlayBook is also the ONLY WiFi tablet that has the capability to natively provide internet connectivity even when there if no WiFi coverage. PlayBook sure helps to get things done.
How can the Playbook NATIVELY provide internet connectivity if it needs a Blackberry smartphone to achieve that? Do you know the meaning of that word?

Nexus 7 + Etisalat Mifi is cheaper than Playbook + Blackberry. So your point does not stand. grin

Akainzo: Comprehension issues again! The PlayBook can tether to ANY Bluetooth enabled device that supports Dial Up Networking via Bluetooth to connect to the internet. The added bonus is simple: If you own a BlackBerry smartphone, it would be at no extra cost as you can use your BIS/BES data plan. Really dude, you do need to read up on this technology stuff.
st and dead when there is no WiFi around, but the PlayBook would still get things done. Plus it can run Android apps, which the iPad cannot do, Plus it has HDMI out.
...and any Android or iPhone can create a portable hotspot with your existing data bundle...which you can use on your tablet. If you own an Android smartphone, you can get a smartphone plan and share with your tablet.

Really dude, you need to read up on this technology stuff instead of regurgitating talking points from Crackberry.

Akainzo: Yeah, it is your fourth 9900, why do you keep buying them? I can help you, you realize they are your primary means of getting things done or are you going to say you are simply throwing good money at a bad product? grin
Actually, I get things done at work on my Desktop...or at home on my laptop. My BB is essential for BBM in Nigeria. The whole 'getting things done' line is serious BS anyway. Thanks to the more prolific app library on iOS and Android, most people would actually get work done better on these devices.
For example, there's an AutoCAD mobile app on iOS and Android that would allow Architects view, display and edit their CAD drawings on the go. You can't do that on the Playbook.

Akainzo: Now you are trying to shift the goal post. Your statement was that the OS was unstable because many sideloaded Android apps do not run. I then pointed out to you that that is a function of the app coding and not the OS. Obviously, you couldn’t comprehend the analogy.
What I actually said was

The ability to sideload Android apps is handy, but there are way too many restrictions and many apps will not run. The Android player in the playbook is notorious for stability problems...

Please show me where i said the OS was unstable or that the OS was unstable because apps would not run. Can you not see the 'period' there?
If you have difficulties comprehending simple written English, I can dig up my old, dog-eared copy of Brighter Grammar or Queen Primer and send to you.

Akainzo: Sure you can claim whatever you say is the reason behind the video, however what you cannot dispute is the developer claims and video. You can go check if the app he referred to is not in the Apple appstore.
The developer never claimed the PlayBook version runs smoother. That's just you caught in a white lie there.
There's no reason for me to completely accept the video at face value and believe him when he says he made no optimisations to the code.

Sure, here it is:

Sure the boot time of the PlayBook is something that needs improvement, however, if you read up on how the iPad achieved it’s so called faster loading/boot time, you would discover the programming gimmick underneath. Do some research my man.

Here it is again:

I dare ask you, what can the iPad achieve that the PlayBook cannot? But to answer your question, the WiFi iPad is lost and dead when there is no WiFi around, but the PlayBook would still get things done. Plus it can run Android apps, which the iPad cannot do, Plus it has HDMI out.
Akainzo: Sure the boot time of the PlayBook is something that needs improvement, however, if you read up on how the iPad achieved it’s so called faster loading/boot time, you would discover the programming gimmick underneath. Do some research my man.
Lol! What 'research'? What 'gimmicks'? All everyone knows is that the iPad boots up to a usable state in 30 seconds. The Playbook? 2 - 3 minutes.
Why don't you post your 'research' here instead of trying to pull off a dodge here?

Akainzo: I dare ask you, what can the iPad achieve that the PlayBook cannot? But to answer your question, the WiFi iPad is lost and dead when there is no WiFi around, but the PlayBook would still get things done. Plus it can run Android apps, which the iPad cannot do, Plus it has HDMI out.
Standalone, both the Wifi iPad and the wifi Playbook will have no internet connection. You NEED a Blackberry phone to bridge. If phones are allowed, I can EASILY use my Galaxy S III's data plan on the iPad via wireless hotspot. So how exactly will the Playbook 'get things done' better than an iPad?

There are over 250000 iPad specific apps on the Appstore. There are less than 100000 tablet optimised Android apps. Why should an iPad be missing out for not being able to run Android apps? You've said so many silly things tonight, but this takes the cake.

I've got a cheapo HDMI adapter for my iPad, works very well. I also have the capability to wirelessly mirror my entire iPad screen via Airplay. Android Tablets can share media via DLNA. The Blackberry Playbook does not even support DLNA!!!

Finally, you boasted that the Playbook matches or exceeds the specs of nearly every other tablet out there. Thank God you yourself have posted screendumps showing the inferiority of the Playbook on GPU, screen resolution, battery life, etc...etc. Your photos tell a different tale from your boasts...are you sure you really don't want that Brighter Grammar copy?
One of the things I always respect Apple for is that when they announce a device, they release within a month and sell like hot cakes. Why announce a device that is not ready to be released? Ridiculous.

I agree. Lumia 920 should have been scheduled for an October launch to take full advantage of the media buzz already generated. Even the launch of the iphone would have still given them some hype because the eagerness to see it perform along side the iphone5 would have been very hot.

Well let's see if a late year launch can still a be positive thing for them.
Windows Phone 8 is not ready for launch yet. It'll be launched late October, with the lumia 920 appearing on shelves by November 2nd.

Nokia took a risk and it seems to be working for them. They banked on the fact that people were gonna be likely to be a bit let down by the iPhone announcement...and would wait for a device that could deliver something new. Now many people are seriously considering the 920.

Also, WIndows 8 will be released October 29th...Nokia hopes to get the positive buzz from the windows 8 launch.

So you actually think Nokia should have waited until after all their potential customers had been snapped up by the iPhone 5 or the galaxy note II before revealing their hardware?

Akainzo: Your arguments or is it reasons are quite laughable, are you aware that there is a WiFI ONLY iPad? Now that reality as hit you, you are comparing apples to oranges, comparing a WiFi only PlayBook to a 3G iPad. You’d need to compare the 3G iPad to the 3G Playbook, then you’d see that the PlayBook far outweighs your iPad in functionality.
I bought a 3G iPad so i'm working with that one. Your post said it's the cheapest way to get internet on any tablet. I'm only pointing out to you that some of us do not mind paying extra for the increased value.
Wifi iPad + MiFi > Playbook + Bridge.

So i ask you, are you aware there are people out there without a Blackberry? Isn't it LAME for one to have a tablet that FORCES you to buy a specific type of phone just to unlock decent value from it?

Akainzo: Advice: Update your 9900 OS to get better battery life, the stock OS was very bad with battery management. However, the 9900 still outlasts the iPhone 4S on the same use.
This my 4th 9900. All horrible battery life. I've run with the latest OSes out there, tinkered with hybrid OS from Crackberry too. As long as BB groups are enabled, battery runs down fast under MTN. RIM stuck an anaemic battery in their 9900.

Akainzo: That some applications do not run on Windows 7, does it mean that Windows is bad and has stability issues? It is a port and much would depend on the coding capabilities of the developer.
Reading comprehension fail. I never said the lack of apps make an OS unstable. Where did i say that? I said very many Android apps do not work, I said you're at the mercy of folks who would help port Android apps and most of those are the free ones anyway. The Android player has had stability issues...this has nothing to do with the developer.

Your Windows 7 analogy is utterly flawed. There are much more applications on Windows 7 than Android and iOS combined.

Akainzo: Which hardware is aging? The PlayBook spec for spec still beats the new iPad, as a matter of fact a developer ported his IOS app to the PlayBook and the PlayBook ran the app faster and smoother than the iPad. Read it here: http://kalogirou.net/2012/08/25/impressed-by-the-new-blackberry-os-or-how-ios-ate-dust/
By the way, to you games might be important while to others it is not. So Modern Combat 3 or Angry Birds coming late to PlayBook does not impact its functionality.
Hmm. The new iPad has a similar processor, MASSIVELY faster Graphics card, MASSIVELY better screen, much better battery life...so what am i missing? How is the PlayBook 'spec for spec' any better than the new iPad?

I'm seeing the developer claim his app loaded 30% faster...no claims about 'smoother'. the whole thing screams 'publicity stunt' to me actually. No easier way to drum up AppWorld sales than to encourage and stimulate the Blackberry faithful grin

Why don't you do a spec for spec comparison?

While you babble about app loading time, why not tell us more about the 2 mins boot time for the Playbook compared to the < 30 seconds for the iPad 2?

Akainzo: My guy, it is quite better than every WiFi only Android or iPad out there. If you doubt it, compare them spec for spec. The area where the others have the advantage is the number of apps in the Appstore.
Or you can compare the WiFi iPad to the WiFi PlayBook and get blown away by the things the PlayBook can help you achieve that would leave the WiFi iPad sad with envy.
Spec for spec comparison, the playbook is inferior to 2011's iPad 2 and definitely holds no candle to the 2012 model. Compare your playbook spec to spec to the Asus Transformer Prime or the prime Infinity, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 or even the Nexus 7. I dare you to post that comparison here.

What can the Playbook help me achieve that the iPad cannot do? pray, tell us.

Akainzo: Yes, the Appstore of the PlayBook is far smaller than that of both Apple and Android, but then it’s like saying a Year One students hasn’t done as much courses as a Year 4 student, the reason is obvious. The PlayBook came out last year while the Apple has been around for 5 years and Android for 3 years!
I don't give a rat's arse when the Playbook came out. The bottom line is that for consumers, the PlayBook offers far less apps and is sadly lacking in many critical apps that are available on competing platforms.

Akainzo: Did you fail to see this qualifier in the Forbes report? Let e re-post it here.

It’s an entirely incorrect number of course, unless we’re very careful about the parameters we’re using. The people who mine and process the tantalum to make the capacitors are making profits and they’re making profits from smartphones’ demand for capacitors. And the people who make the screens and even more the people who provide the airtime which make the phones work.

But if we exclude all of that and look just at who is making a profit from selling the hardware and software for smartphones: well, no, even that’s not true. For Microsoft is making a hefty whack out of license fees on Android systems for example. Some say as much as $1 billion a year for work they did over a decade ago. Which isn’t bad money really.

But if we restrict ourselves just to hardware then it is true. And it shows quite how much Apple is outshining the competition. They’re selling many fewer phones than the competition but they’re making the lion’s share of all the profits. And business is indeed about making a profit, not making a sale.
I hate dealing with dumbasses.
Forbes made a disclaimer for accuracy sakes...but as far as comparison between profits raked in by OEMs, the data is 100% correct.

bukahands: Ok donno where to start from but lemme start somewhere

Android OS is the biggest OS for smartphones right now in the world go and research for those who wanna argue, samsung S2 beat iphone 4 and iphone 4S in general reviews, u cud go to google or visit youtube and type galxys2 vs iphone 4s and iphone 4, the weak point of samsung phones is the material PLASTIC while the iphone is made with glossy durable materials but hey that's why samsung phones are cheaper eg galaxy s2 is like 75K now iphone 4S around 120k imagine. And mind you andriod is an open software while ios is restrictive. Now let's talk about the biggest phone in the globe right now the phone that has sold 20 million copies in 90 days samsung galaxy s3 aka THE BEAST, did I hear someone on nairaland say samsung didn't make any new innovation well baby U R WRONG lemme break ot down

The seriously good innovations include a pop-up
video player that lets you keep watch ing while
answering an email or looking up a website. There's
no need to stop the video. They simply reduce the
video to a pop-up and you continue watching it
anywhere on your screen while emailing or browsing (never been done b4).
Motions and gestures also are useful and can be
switched on and off in the Android "set-up". Turn the
phone over and it will go into silent mode, users can
zoom into a photo by placing two fingers on the
screen and tilting it, and the phone will vibrate when
picked up if there are messages and calls after it was
last used.
Users also can pause a video or mute the FM radio by
placing their palm over the screen. Sweep a contact
leftward to message them, or rightwards to call them.
Functions on the lock screen can be activated by
flicking their icons upward. This includes the camera.
Sweeping a hand leftward or rightward across the
screen grabs a screenshot.
While motions and gestures are seriously useful,
items offering voice and visual recognition are a little
unreliable. Samsung's S-Voice does a good job with
basic voice recognition functions such as setting
appointments, revealing the weather or searching
contacts, but is even flakier than Apple's Siri.
Samsung lists predefined commands that S Voice
understands, but, like Siri, she often misunderstands
or fails to understand, and then she tells you so in her
soft, dulcet tones.
The same applies to the phone's smart stay face
recognition sensor, a feature where the screen stays
on as long as the front-facing camera detects you
looking at it. It means you can set the screen timeout
to say, 30 seconds, but it won't go blank while in the
middle of reading.

Even in terms of specs s3 is even leading but the iphone is a more durably and classy phone but personal after my s3 wud pick lumia 920 (if they update their app world( b4 iphone 5. For specs comparison visit gsmarena.com

Give it up for samsung electronics the WORLDS LARGEST IT COMPANY
Is this pathetic list all you can come up with?

zooming by putting two fingers on the device and tilting is not new...it was present in the Galaxy tab 10.1 from 2011
Turning phone over to go silent is not new. I remember a friend demoing a similar feature to me on a Symbian Nokia phone at a conference in 2010. Hell, on my HTC Touch Pro 2 from 2008, you'd turn it over to enter speaker mode
Lockscreen shortcuts have been present in many Android phones, all Sense 2.0 onwards HTC phones have lockscreen shortcuts too

There ARE a few new features but..
Smart Stay is gimmicky. doesn't work well with folks who use glasses.
S-Voice is a clone of Siri...and isn't nearly as smart. It's actually useful for some folks though.
Pop-up video player is just a gimmick for impressing folks. In the 4 months i've owned my SGS III, I've never needed to use it once.

Selling 20 million in 90 days may be big for Samsung...but the 4S did that volume in half the time grin

all4naija: I was not asleep, I was wild awake. Claim and sue are two different things. It is obvious Apple and its supporters can not different between both for the simple reason of gross yet unreasonable contentment. The company went ahead with the patent infringement rights, which is unequivocally undeniable that Samsung must have had something to do with what looks like Apple's yet demanded for over a billion dollars for the garbage it has been feeding the public with. On one hand Apple is not a saint in this regard. On the other, it is quick to point accusing fingers when some of the features belonging to other companies, which probably has not been sorted out in one way or the other, is being used on their products every now and then.

I quite understand the so called iPhone avid supporters who would go extreme length to make their biased arguments heard. It is very clear at this moment that Apple followers all rather supporters are moved by sentiments as wouldn't have been required of anybody in smartphones tech debates. This is very clear in the light of their recent release of iPhone 5 - yet with lot of areas where it is still inferior to Samsung Galaxy S III the price remains well above and they are willing to put their money on it. It is unimaginably senseless to reasonable people.

My frustration with it is quite understandable, it is almost in all ramifications, as a company that never really care about some segment of the population when coming up with the hardware, features, apps and others. I was once a fan to the core of Apple products, most especially, with the release of iPhone in the past only to be beholding to them for every little thing that doesn't warrant such(to be precise it is stressful). So, I still think Apple products are over-rated and the society is just moved by the fact that it is Americans' and the hype that goes with such idea.

I dare anyone who really like iPhone to prove to me how the product can absolutely be free of copying or mimicking other company's works out there. It is a share move by Apple supporters and company to ruin others based on their jealousy. This will come to the limelight as the fading away of the product definitely come to an end - as the cliché goes 'anything that has beginning must has an end'. The end of this over-hyped iPhone is coming to a close as they continue to fight for patent infringement rights and bribing the lawyers and judges with fat pockets.
Oya, tell me the 'many' areas where the iPhone 5 is inferior to the Galaxy S III. I dare you.

Also, you've never been able to understand the difference between 'inspiration' and 'copying'. For example, google implemented a glow overscroll feature in Android 2.3. all samsung had to do was to use that code. instead they happily used Apple's overscroll bounce feature without permission. That's theft.

Google did a stupid thing by letting Samsung make the Galaxy Nexus. Samsung takes more than 90% of the total profits in the Android space. LG, Sony et al have been losing. As Samsung's star shines brighter, HTC's and LG's stars keep dimming.

Pk001: Bros, you don use playbook before?

Who told you playbook doesn't have wifi? And tell me why you will need a sim card on your playbook if you can bridge it and enjoy all the Internet package without interrupting your phone's Internet services and at no extra cost.
BB has the best Internet plan for Nigeria and I bet, you will enjoy BB PLAYBOOK far more than ipad or any other tablet in Nigeria.
Mind you, playbook runs on android applications so you have enough applications you need that will complete with Ipad. The only thing is that, you have to buy some the best applications for playbook and they are relatively cheap.
I have used different tablets including Ipad and I can testify that bb playbook is just the best especially for Nigeria. It's a pity many are not aware of the capabilities of playbook and thereby being reaped by apple.
Blackberry Playbook is a mediocre tablet.
Bridge is only a feature if you're too broke to buy a decent data plan. I have a data bundle on my iPad so i don't need Bridge. I NEVER use bridge on my Playbook because it requires a bluetooth connection. Without Bluetooth being on, my bold 9900 can barely even last 2/3 of a day with moderate use with 3G on. Some of us have to switch to EDGE to get decent battery life...do i need to explain to you how slow EDGE internet is?

PlayBook lacks many of the compelling apps found on Android and iOS. The ability to sideload Android apps is handy, but there are way too many restrictions and many apps will not run. The Android player in the playbook is notorious for stability problems...

There are no offline GPS navigation apps for PlayBook that work in Nigeria, for example. Skype doesn't work, no 3rd party video chat app. You're restricted to ports of games that released on iOS and Android 8 months ago (eg Playbook just got Modern Combat 3). The hardware is showing its age now, easily outclassed by new iOS and Android tablets. Battery life is just middling.

I have recommended the Playbook to others as a budget tablet that's pretty good...but to say it's better than iOS and Android tablets is just plain craziness.

Reference: Then they will have a huge hole to climb out of. Samsung is already outselling them 2 to 1 and the I5 isn't that much of a game changer.
Samsung's entire lineup of smartphones (low, middle and high end) are outselling Apple's high end iPhone.

Apple's high end iPhone easily outsells Samsung's Galaxy high end phones.

Apple makes 70% of the total smartphone profits in the world.

Those are the important facts grin

infolekan: Check the records....Samsung outsold Apple last year(30.2% to 18.5%). Only difference is Apple had only about 2 phones to sell(iphone 4 & 4S) and. Samsung had like. .....loading .... undecided..300 I think
English dey hard?

I said 'Flagship phones'. So compare sales of the 4S and the Galaxy S II. Compare sales of iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S III

No contest really...on all the US Carriers that carry the iPhone, the iPhone 4S is still selling much more than any other phone.

all4naija: Presently, I am on the side of Samsung. I can't imagine what parts of the game Apple has brought into innovation concerning this infringement lawsuit. Indeed, I was expecting something of relevant claims only to be presented with shapes and zoom patent infringement making the whole case now looks like unending war on patent rather than innovation. However, this is just the beginning. We are going to see Apple reacts to other patents in the future. The beginning of ugly smartphones cases just begun.

HTC and Samsung trying to hit back to me is not the right thing to do. But, after seeing Samsung lost well over a billion dollars, it quite clear there won't be let-the-sleeping-dog-lie any more.

Apple fall out by loosing the foresight that there is no smartphone maker that is free from copying or using other companies creative works. The simple truth is the people behind the running of the Apple company are bunch of faults-finding individuals rather than forging ahead to be more innovative. The Apple patents infringement were not much of innovation. That is true!
So it's all right for Google to claim Face Unlock as a software innovation, yet Overscroll Bounce and 'Pinch to zoom' aren't innovative or patentable? Were you asleep when Samsung claimed its Smart Stay and Direct Call software features were innovative?

Nonsense.
Thank you o jare,
Frand ke?
FRAND went out the window the moment Nokia sued Apple in 2009. Everything since has been a valid depiction of what the world would looked like if Google and Apple were the US and Russia during the Cold War and patents were nukes.

LTE is a complex standard covering many aspects of wireless communication (modulation, multiplexing, error correction codes, routing, codecs, etc.), each of which are built on many technological innovations. This is one of the failings of the current patent system, since in order to innovate in an area you need to implement many of the already existing technologies, the patents for which are owned by the companies which already dominate the space. In the case of LTE, over 50 companies claim to have patents required to implement it.

Samsung has 819 LTE patents which consist of about 13% of all LTE patents. They hold the most. I believe HTC has around 600 or something. Apple is currently #10 in LTE patents.

Samsung is holding apple by the balls now! grin
ahahaah! grin
I pity you. grin

These are FRAND patents and Samsung et al HAVE to strike a fair licensing agreement...if they truly have a claim. Qualcomm already pays a license for these modules anyway so Apple likely isn't mandated to pay anything.

Nothing will stand in the way of iPhone 5 outselling Samsung and HTC flagship smartphones COMBINED...as usual. grin

Is it possible to be a big time businessman in Nigeria without employing many Nigerians?

Does Agofure Motors not employ a large number of Nigerians as drivers, busboys, ticket sellers etc?

4llerbuntu: 2nd best or best? this is a better and more sensible camera implementation compared with the 808.

besides it will outperform it like the ones u posted above. but thats if marketing equals actual ability sha
It'll only outperform the 808 in low light mode. In terms of sharpness, picture quality etc, the 808 can't be beat.

It's still a crappy phone though.

Anyway, all talk about the Nokia will begin to subside now the 800 pound gorilla called iPhone is about to be unveiled. I already know i'm not getting one sha. Nano SIM no dey naija yet, and i'll be damned if i start cutting down my microsim to fit and render it incompatible with all other devices.

There is no repentance without restitution. If he were really born again he'd return all the stolen loot back to the state.

Looking at the OP sef, it's clear it's just a made up story to drive traffic.

Hashirama is dead. You cannot Edo Tensei a living person.

Now Kishi has to explain how anyone was able to kill hashirama. The third Raikage was able to fight 10000 foes for days, how much more Hashirama who's probably the strongest ever Shinobi after the Sage of Six Paths.

I think we all agree that Hashirama was much stronger than Madara if he was able to defeat Madara + Kyuubi and if madara could say that Hashirama was capable of beating him even with the perfected Susanoo

walcolm: excerpt from the article i quoted is below:
Nokia admitted that its Lumia 920 promotional ad contained video recorded by a DSLR and not its PureView camera as claimed in the video. According to a post by Youssef Sarhan, the Finnish company also faked some of the still photos in that video, too.
Sarhan points to the still picture above that allegedly shows the optical image stabilization of the Lumia 920. He notes that the sparkles shown in the background street lights could not have been produced by the Lumia camera, which has a fixed aperture of f/2. This effect is only present in photos captured with camera that’s set to a higher aperture like f/22. It’s a common photography effect that occurs in night shots like the one above.

angrythe reference pointed out a picture at the top of the page and says the picture is the fake picture! if the picture is the one taken by the 920, will the article say its fake? i'm sure you're the one who needs the QUEEN PRIMER AND BRIGHTER GRAMMAR to aid your comprehension or better still help your reading skills first of all. if you don't read, its hard to comprehend

btw, throwing insults at will (especially when it is not merited) just because you're on a faceless forum is juvenile and doesn't show class #justsaying
Will no one rid me of these lack-wits?

The article you posted had this as a the headline

Did Nokia fake the still photos in its Lumia 920 ad, too?

What does the bolded section mean to you?

From the same article, here's a quote

According to a post by Youssef Sarhan, the Finnish company also faked some of the still photos in that video, too.
So the article is talking about some still photos IN THE ALREADY DISCREDITED VIDEO and not the images you put there in your original post. The article makes that distinction VERY CLEARLY.

The image below is the still from the ad video which has been proven to be fake

https://www.intomobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/nokiaphotos650.jpg

However in your post you quoted this photo below which the article CLEARLY says is a true photo from the Lumia 920. Yet you claimed the article said it was faked.

bigbrovar: Beside the camera (and seriously Nokia still owns that crown) I haven't seen any thing here that blows mind when compared to what the competition is offering. For Nokia and maybe the wp ecosystem its a great leap no doubt but compared with what is already out there it seems like playing catch up.

I guess one will have to wait and see how things are implemented because right now no known human outside of Nokia has been allowed to play with with or even touch the l920. Until the device is released or reviewed I think it is too early to get excited.

Let's see how well the city lens map thingie works in real life usage.

How accessible the wireless charging would be. (The galaxy s3 is also touted to support wireless charging but until the accessories for enabling wireless charging becomes part of the retail box. It won't ever become mainstream. Just an item to tick of in the specs sheet.)

How really good the display is compared to the competition.

And most important of all. We would get to see how really good wp8 is.right now we can only assume that it would be better than wp7 as it based on NT core and allows for native c++ in 3rd party app development. However we should remember that wp8 is a complete rewrite and in many sense a 0.1 release. The process of porting NT down to mobile will not be easy so fingers crossed on how the final product would turn out.

The way I see it the event of last week (where no announcement or pricing plan was released) was a desperate attempt to get something out there before iPhone 5 is announced and released. Elop did promise to shorten the length of time between device announcement and their release that did not happen last week. I keep my fingers crossed and see how the final product performs. Call me a doubting Thomas but many times I have been burnt by Nokia in the past as what was announced always turns out to be awesomer compared to what is actually released. (Looking at n97, n8)
1) 'Catch up'? Resolution aside, The screen in the Lumia 900 was already top class...it wasn't lagging behind in any way. In fact, the Lumia 900's screen had the best sunlight visibility rating of any phone out there...hands down better than the HTC One X and miles better than the disappointing outdoors performance of the Galaxy S III. I swear, on truly bright days when I'm heading to the office restaurant, I can barely make out the screen of my SGS III.

As far as hardware is concerned, Nokia's Lumia 920 isn't just 'catching up' to the competition, it's outclassing 'em on so many points.
The 920's screen has a higher pixel density than the iPhone 4S and the SGS III, has better sunlight readability, uses the same SuperLCD that enabled the One X's screen to outclass the superAMOLED on the SGS III. Also, Nokia boasts that the screen refresh rate is higher than any other phone ever made.

Nokia also says it's the brightest screen out there....and of course the ability to use the phone with gloves or mittens should help out in cold climates. I remember suffering in the cold with my iphone some years back when i had to take off my gloves in sub zero weather just to use the phone's GPS.

2) Unlike palm and possibly Samsung, Nokia has used an popular standard for the Wireless charging feature so you can very easily snag cheaper 3rd party chargers that can be gotten for cheap.

3)You're right about the delay between when the devices are announced and when they'll go on sale...but hopefully this will be a one-time thing. Once WP8 is done, Nokia will proceed to roll with it and get as many phone models as they can out there. There are already rumours of mid and low end WP8 phones from Nokia targeted at Asian markets to gain back marketshare.
