mhozzis: So. enlighten me plsI do not know if there's an FM radio app in the 920, but i hardly see the need for one these days. I have NEVER used the FM radio in my SGS III before. |
Cynthia is dead and gone. My concern is for other young girls that take that kinda mad and blind risk in their insatiable quest for MATERIAL THINGS and SEXUAL ADVENTURE. To the ladies in the house, CYNTHIA's CASE IS JUST ONE OUT OF TOO MANY THAT GO UNREPORTED OR UNRESOLVED. DON'T BE PART OF THE STATISTIC. Why are we wasting time talking about her soul resting in peace. CYNTHIA HANDED HER SOUL TO THE DEVIL THE MOMENT SHE WALKED INTO THAT SIN HOUSE(HOTEL) with her CRIMINAL LOVER. Even if she wanted to negotiate business with her fellow girl, it could have taken place anywhere but not a SIN HOUSE, talkless of negotiating what useless business apart from SEX-FOR-CASH DEAL in a HOTEL. Say whatever you like, but your own days are numbered if currently you are as LOOSE as CYNTHIA. And 2moro people will come on NAIRALAND to blab about your SINFUL SOUL resting in which peace. PEACE OF THE WICKED? We cant hoodwink GOD. For it is WRITTEN that "the soul that sinneth it shall die". Her killers even have chance of making heaven if only they admit their sins and repent today. But for CYNTHIA, I know she burns right nw in hell. THAT'S THE BIBLE TRUTH
No, you thrice accursed m0r0n. The 'Bible truth' is that you should not judge, lest ye be judged. And you've just proceeded to judge this poor lady, calling her a 'sinner' and insinuating that she went there for sexual intercourse for money. |
sniperwolf: This phone has no radio. WTF!FM radio? This is 2012 o! |
The minister is 100% correct. Air France aircraft crashed off the coast of Brazil, flights continued. Only in Nigeria do the accusing fingers start demanding for a PERMANENT closure of the airlines. People say it is 'too soon' to restore Dana's license. What time is appropriate? When Dana would have folded from not being able to continue running the company without any revenue? |
Japanese Cars = Right Hand Drive Nigerian Cars = Left Hand drive There is no way to legally import a Right Hand Drive vehicle into Nigeria today...so i don't see anyone trying this. If anyone tried to bring such a vehicle in, it would not be through any legal Nigerian entrance point...so the FG cannot implement any scanning measures anyway. Kenya and Uganda use RHD so they can show concern...Not the Federal govvt of Nigeria. This was just a brainless, daft article with zero research....just plain scaremongering. |
walcolm: pulllleeeeeezzzzzz.....pure bullshit. the pureview camera is a great job but i dont believe this set up....when you buy the publicly available 920, we'll meet in the office and redo this test.So...if Nokia could put in a powerful camera like that in that same shell and show it off in a production unit, what would stop them from putting it in the actual device? Abeg leave all these silly conspiracy theories alone. walcolm: that picture from the Nokia camera is a fraud and it has been exposed here....http://www.intomobile.com/2012/09/06/did-nokia-fake-its-still-lumia-920-images-too/Actually, in that article that isn't the faked one. The photo you're quoting is actually what your link says is the REAL photo from a Lumia 920. You may need to pick up a copy of Queen Primer or Brighter Grammar to brush up your reading skills. 4llerbuntu: http://sefsar.com/nokia-faked-the-still-photos-tooAgain? Nope. Those are stills from the Pureview ad video that Nokia already apologized for and said were not actually taken on a Lumia 920. It's all from that same video that Nokia has already disavowed. There are plenty of hands on videos with actual journalists and with actual devices....and they test and compare the cameras. |
For anyone still doubting the camera performance... Here you go http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jFhhBJ1URCg |
norrisman: Moronic Nigerians. The grounding of the airline was a precautionary measure whilst investigations into the June 3 crash were ongoing. Now the airline has been given a clean bill of health, I see no reason why one shouldnt fly with DANA. If everyone switched airlines after a crash no major airline will exist today as every one of them has had major crashes in their history. You are a very intelligent Nairalander. I cannot wait for their services to resume before I start flying them again. Nigerians and their sentiments...all the people protesting are those who have already condemned Dana air even with no official crash report. |
4llerbuntu: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-19506623Nokia touted some features of its Camera that makes it superior to the rest 1. Low light performance 2. Optical Image stabilization The low light performance prowess was tested by Anandtech, Gizmodo and a few other tech journals. No matter what your misgivings about any other journalists, nobody can say anything bad about Anandtech. Anandtech took the photo themselves with an iPhone 4S and a Lumia 920. This was the result https://images.anandtech.com/doci/6236/DSC_7972_575px.jpg So there's no getting around the fact that the Lumia 920 has a much better camera than that found in the SGS III Nokia showed off a video with the Lumia 920 and the SGS III mounted side by side on a rig during their press conference. The Lumia 920 easily bested the SGS III for image stabilization. Bottom line is, Nokia may have posted a misleading ad for its pureview camera, but the Camera in the 920 is easily worth the hype. |
4llerbuntu: yes massa, a lil. There may be Windows Market apps for opening and editing word, excel and powerpoint docs, but Microsoft has thrown in the big daddy of 'em all for free...and it's purely desktop mode only. The Desktop tile is there for advanced users to get to the Desktop if they want to, especially for document creating and editing. Perhaps you just don't appreciate how massive a product microsoft office really is. Windows RT shares much of the Windows 8 core technologies. It's actually a good thing in many ways as many Windows 8 apps can be ported over to Win RT without much stress. Last week at IFA, epic games demonstrated the full version of the Unreal Engine running on Windows RT. not the stripped down mobile version that's for iOS and Android but the full Desktop version. So for example, a Dev can make an Unreal Engine game for the Xbox 360 and Windows 8, and then just port to Windows RT without that much effort. Look at the advantages. For example, if you go to motioninjoy.com, they have drivers that allow you pair your PS3 controller with a windows PC via bluetooth. All those drivers can easily be transferred to Windows RT without any rewriting and can be ported over in days. You may also enter Desktop Mode, connect a printer to your tablet via USB and use Paint to import your pictures for editing! So....at its basic form, Metro mode will give users the ipad-esque walled garden curated apps that'll be great for gaming and media consumption...and the Desktop mode should be great for advanced users. But basic users will NOT have to enter Desktop mode unless they want to. |
This new case must have Fashola written all over it. The folks in government need a scapegoat to show they mean business and that it would be used to punish all who disobey. Think of the now dead LASTMA official, a family have lost a loved one due to her reckless driving anywhere else on the globe she would be facing charges of man slaughter, resulting in a lifetime driving ban and some 4 or so yrs suspended sentence .
The LASTMA guy died due to his own carelessness, not due to her driving one way. What was he doing standing in the road? She would NEVER face manslaughter charges anywhere in the world.her car had long since been stopped and was stationary off the road. Was it her fault that a LASTMA agent in the area decided to chase after a danfo bus? |
4llerbuntu: the 'apps' in those videos were sideloaded? You cannot go to desktop mode by clicking on any button. You have to click on the 'Desktop' tile or launch a 'Desktop' app. 'Desktop' apps are pre-installed by Microsoft. The average user will NEVER enter Desktop mode unless he/she wants to. The Metro interface is a walled garden like the ipad's...no sideloaded apps. I mentioned Windows 8 because any metro app coded for Windows 8 will have an equivalent ARM version that'll work on Windows RT...so we should see an app explosion. The Windows marketplace should be the next big app rush for developers hoping to make it big. Windows RT works just the way the iPad does...you click on an icon/tile and it opens an app. The added advantage is that you can run Metro Apps side by side so there's more robust multitasking. There are gestures you can also do...which should easily be conveyed in hands on tutorials to end users. Nobody's going to be confused by tapping on an excel icon and being transported to a desktop version of Excel, then pressing the Start button to go back to the Metro interface. Happy now? |
4llerbuntu: one thing tho, whosoever coordinated the media and publicity for dis announcement deserves a big bonus and a medal. great job.Galaxy S III went on sale nearly a month after announcement. I didn't see you complaining then. Now keep quiet and stop trolling just because the days of you damning Nokia over hardware specs are over ![]() |
if the state is continuing to press charges against her, then by all means she should simultaneously sue the LASTMA boss for defamation of character for continuing to insist that they saw her kill that LASTMA agent that died. She'll almost certainly win. |
"Feeling" for her is what I don't understand here. She earlier got released over this case. Now more fingers points on her from another direction. It is very possible that Mrs Johnson has some questions to answer on that case. Those Nigerians on costly JEEPS have their way of forcing through traffic. After all, they can pay it off in court. Let her face it, so others can learn. That's my take on this!
Your take is silly and betrays your Poverty mentality. Why single out Nigerians driving costly jeeps? There are far more Nigerians driving cheaper sedans that take the one-way option. This your complaint about rich people may very well be a Freudian slip. |
4llerbuntu: yeah right.Nope. Just better in sooo many ways than the Galaxy S III ![]() |
4llerbuntu: which metro apps?Just when I think i've educated you, you show up again spouting nonsense. Would you do us a favour and READ up about technologies before you start spouting ignorance laced whiny complaints? Windows 8 is priced to sell. By the end of the year, more than 50 million computers will be running Windows 8. Windows 8 ships with access to the Windows Marketplace...which only sells 'Metro' styled apps. All these apps will be available for both WIndows RT and Windows 8. As it stands today, even in the beta versions of Windows 8 available today, there are already thousands of apps, with tens of thousands more waiting to arrive at launch, including all the big name players like Chrome, Skype, Netflix, Firefox etc. Microsoft has thrown in a free version of Office in Desktop mode...and a free, souped up version of Paint...among other apps. In Metro mode, you'll have the same Office suites that 3rd parties have released on the iPad. In desktop mode, you'll have a PROFESSIONAL Office application which works well with mouse and keyboard....and which has a 'Touch Mode' that can be enabled for better finger usage. So...since when did providing users with an alternate, professional side become a bad thing? The videos you provided makes it VERY clear that while most apps on Windows RT are Metro apps, there are a few apps that are specifically meant for Desktop mode. The video explicitly goes on to demonstrate these Desktop apps...and you dumbly come on Nairaland to rant that ALL apps open to the Desktop mode. This is stoopid, even by your standards ![]() Dear 4llerbuntu, https://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/131/351/eb6.jpg |
4llerbuntu: at that time the only smartfones worthy were blackberries and iphones.Open source does not mean 'progress' all the time. Nokia has come out with a device with excellent hardware, excellent specs, excellent screen and an excellent camera...All running WP8 which is a fast, smooth and beautiful OS that has practically 100% feature parity with Android JB in most areas. So what's the issue? |
...and the Samsung Galaxy S III compared with 4S and the 920 https://img.gawkerassets.com/img/17y6ywkbxh36qjpg/xlarge.jpg I'm not surprised. The poor performance of my SGS III in low light has left me gnashing my teeth in rage most times |
4llerbuntu: but that motorola is iphone-uglyFunny, isn't it? When you were using your Nokia N900, you weren't concerned about Marketshare When you're extolling the virtues of Linux, you don't dwell on its minute marketshare compared to Windows Now all of a sudden, you're babbling about marketshare because Nokia's finally grown up and brings something out that actually beats the Galaxy S III in so many ways ![]() |
jedisco: I hate the fact that I'm very busy this week and wouldn't have the time to for this till at least Saturday.Motorola announced a phone everyone knew was coming. It'll stand not chance against the Galaxy S III. |
omodapson: People seem to be losing faith in Nokia but this announcements should take them right back on track. It should actually outperform the SGS III...at least the US variant using the same chipset. WP8 is much more fluid than Android. Obviously, Camera and screen will wipe the floor with the Galaxy S III. |
4llerbuntu: YOU are the one who should actually start paying attention. it seems you are developing ADHDOh jeez. You're even dumber than i thought. Those live tiles opens up in the Metro mode. You'll NEVER see the Desktop if you aren't using any one of the built in Microsoft 'pro' apps that run in Desktop mode like Paint, Microsoft Office and IE10 Desktop mode. Once you start a normal, metro APP, you do NOT go to the generic Desktop. In the video (in which the journalist DELIBERATELY opens up desktop apps or desktop settings), the Journalist WANTS to use Desktop mode. All other apps and games and programs including the default IE10 browser, built-in games and apps, music and video players et al will ALL open up in Metro mode. THERE WILL BE NO APPS FROM THE WINDOWS MARKETPLACE THAT WILL HAVE DESKTOP ACCESS!!! You post a video you did not even watch...if your office does not allow you to watch video with speaker on, PLEASE invest in a decent pair of headphones. Again, you're a disgrace. You need to learn more about consumer tech. Aside from linux and Android, your ignorance on these things is truly staggering. With Windows RT Microsoft has made a tablet for the people who love consuming media and apps...and also with a dual personality for those who like being productive with a world-class office suite. No Android tablet in existence will provide as much productivity boost for businesses as this will. TheVerge has an excellent article where they outline why Windows RT/Pro will practically crush Android tablets and become the only legitimate competitor to the iPad. I suggest you read it here http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/4/3291249/the-end-of-android-tablets-google-amazon-kindle-fire-microsoft-windows-8 Ignorant fandroid troll ![]() |
4llerbuntu: like i said, no pointin even starting this thread. the other manufacturers will be leaking shots of the next flagships by the time these cats get around to even taking pre-ordersNobody else will be able to sell a Windows Phone 8 device until Microsoft formally releases/launches the OS. |
walcolm: www.uswitch.com/mobiles/news/2012/09/nokia_to_write_off_1_million_lumia_800_900_units_says_analyst/Excellent business from Nokia. Slash prices on the old stock, firesale the rest to get more WP devcices into more hands. Marketshare goes up, developers flock in, it's a win-win for Nokia and Microsoft. They'll announce losses for them, of course but I expect their financial outlook to pick up when the new WP8 devices come out. My only concern is the lack of any true low end WP8 option. they need to sell loads of these in China to keep their marketshare up. |
4llerbuntu: buhahahahahahaTrolling as usual, eh? No release date because Microsoft has not announced a release date for WP8. There will be a WP8 focused event in a month's time. It's expected it should arrive close to Windows 8's arrival...which is October 26th. There are other colors available...including white, grey and black. People LOVE colors. Cyan Lumia 900s sold more than the black variants. 4llerbuntu: "PureView" was the combination of the 41MP sensor, the custom Image Processor, the pixel binning to 8MP and digital zoom.Pureview is Nokia's imaging tech. Hardware AND software. This doesn't have the massive sensor of the 808, but it has hardware optical stabilization that far outstrips anything on any phone out there (including the 808) and rivals DSLRs. It has a low light performance that's 5 - 10 times better than anything else out there apart from the Pureview 808. You'll shoot crisp, clear 1080p video that perfectly stabilized. basically, the camera in the 920 is way better than that found on any other phone apart from the Pureview 808. PS: What kind of techie are you when you fall for the megapixel myth? lol. |
http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/5/3293369/nokia-lumia-920-windows-phone-8 https://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/09/nokia920-1346855563.jpg Nokia announced the Lumia 920 flagship phone today, boasting similar high end CPU & GPU specs to the US variant of the Samsung Galaxy S III. From a hardware point of view, The Lumia 920 seems to significantly edge the SGS III with 1) better design 2)visibly better screen (Much better sunlight readability, better contrast, 25% better brightness than the brightest phone on the market, ability to manipulate the screen even while wearing gloves, 'floating' display) 3)Far better Cameras (Nokia promises the best image stabilization of any phone camera, better low light performance than even many SLRs) 4) Wireless charging (charge without wires) 5) 2000 mah battery ![]() From software, the Lumia 920 will ship with a much improved offline Navigation that isn't on any top tier Android phone. The Camera app comes with 'lenses' that allow some impressive features like the ability to delete people and objects from any photo as long as they are moving. The phone should come in Q4 2012 and should be an excellent purchase ![]() |
4llerbuntu: i guess somebody was right when he siad:You're a disgrace. Windows RT will keep you in the Metro interface 99.9% of the time. All settings are accessible in the Metro interface. The only desktop apps thrown in are Microsoft Office 2013 and Internet Explorer (for webpages that need plugins like Flash, If needed). 3rd party devs will not be able to code apps for the desktop. If you do not click the 'Desktop' tile or use Microsoft Office, you will NEVER need to spend any time in the desktop. Abeg TRY and pay attention to anything that is not linux or Android. The so-called 'start menu replacement' IS the interface you'll spend more time in. Windows RT offers up all the advantages of ARM processors (long battery life etc), Metro mode will have loads of apps in no time (they'll definitely outstrip Android before 2013 runs out) and if you need to get productive, you can link up a keyboard and mouse and use the REAL Microsoft Office. Are you sure you're not just trolling?! |
@poster If you listen to 4llerbuntu, you'll fail miserably. @4llerbuntu What part do you not understand? That the OP is going up against established players with no brand recognition? Or that he has to significantly undercut the likes of Samsung et al if he is to have a prayer of a chance to succeed? He's most likely running with a rebadged Chinese tablet that almost certainly will run ICS. Asking him to devote (expensive) developer time to JB is not feasible. It's not always a simple port...there's a reason why most of the CM10 builds for existing brand name tablets still are not very stable. I run JB on my SGS III and believe me, there are bugs! I'm not sure why you people are babbling about IPS...he says the device has a PLS screen. that's technology comparable to IPS (it was used in the Galaxy Tab 10.1) so it's pretty decent. Not sure why he threw in the 'TFT' though. Please remember that this is intended to be for BUSINESS and hence he NEEDS to show a profit. No unknown brand Android tablet will sell well in the > 50K range. You want him to remove bloatware. Sorry, Nigerians LOVE bloatware. They want free games, free office apps and perhaps a few others. For example an NTA news icon on the tablet will be called 'bloatware' by the folks on Xda devs but in Nigeria it will be excitedly marketed as a killer feature "watching NTA on the go". I agree with stock, unskinned Android. That is what you should talk about and not 'bloatware'. |
4llerbuntu: try that ur guy na!! he says he can get one that makes calls for 35k.The ainol novo series are rather low end...why would you steer him in this direction? Let's try to knock some sense into him, I have NEVER understood why anyone would want to make phone calls from a tablet. Just get a Nexus 7 and move on. ANyway, there are rumors that Asus is preoping a 3G ready Nexus 7 for release soon. Perhaps that may be a viable option |
F00028: is that real research or did you just make that up on the spot?I made that up on the spot, obviously...but when 'blasphemy' charges against non-muslims usually leads to a summary execution without fair, secular trial, i'd say that figure isn't too far off the mark. PLease also add to the tally those innocent folks that are often killed just for the 'blasphemous' fact of them being 'infidels'. Examples such as that corper in the North that was killed by her students, those two nuns in Somalia that were shot after the danish cartoons scandal, the tens of innocent souls killed during the 'Miss World', 'Akaluka' and 'Danish cartoons' riots. |
vedaxcool: That when a muslim does bad muslims condemn him as such yet when Anders Breviek kills 77 he is mentally disturbed! The problem really is u guys are just silly dishonestIf you had half a brain and you spent more time following world issues instead of browsing jihadist forums, you'd have known that Anders Brevik was adjudged to be completely sane by experts and by his own admission. |
