flyuche: android phones are stupidly expensive, and to think the OS is free?
Wrong. There are low and mid tier Android phones that are cheap, such as the HTC Tattoo. If you're looking toward top tier android phones like the Droid X, Droid 2, Samsung Fascinate and HTC Evo 4G, you're talking of phones with 3.7 - 4.3 inch screens running with 1GHz snapdragon chips. How do you expect such phones to be cheap?
Cut your coat according to your size. Besides, none of those phones cost more than any flagship Nokia phone.
People don't buy games because it has all those stuff. They buy games based on how much fun they'd derive from playing those games. It's no surprise if the GT series have sold more than any individual Halo game: you're talking about the PS2 and we know the difference in numbers between the PS2 and the Xbox 1. Comparing the ratios of gt5 sold per total consoles sold to the sales of Halo 2 to the total number of xbox 360 consoles should give you a clearer picture.
Mobinga: Lol. . . Nokia still remains the best seller. Nokia sells 260,000 each single day, and thats the most important
And many of those phones are cheap feature phones with low profit margin.
In the extremely important smartphone wars, Nokia is steadily losing ground to their rivals. When you drop from 45% to 35%, you don't say "Hey! i'm still the King". You start seriously scrambling to find out why so you don't drop to 25%.
Microsoft once was a MASSIVE player in the smartphone segment with Windows Mobile. Now they are struggling to get back in the game.
tall4real: People People People why are you hating on Nokia First some argue that Nokia is too reliant on Symbian but remember if i am not mistaken the Symbian brought multi-tasking to us as we know it today and besides not only Nokia uses Symbian (it is only that they made it popular) Sony Ericsson also make use of the Symbian platform. Besides Apple is developing on their i phone OS, Google on Andriod for HTC,Samsung; as also Nokia is developing on Symbian hence the emergence of Symbian ^3 Secondly, software and third party application development is better and easier to create on the symbian platfotm. There are an array of apps on the symbian platform. In other words it allows for easy software development. Thirdly, most of the advocates of I phone, Apple as we all know is very stingy. It didn't allow Adobe to create a platform for flash content on its i phone, you can't send files through bluetooth, you have to buy almost all apps, can't use your I phone to sync without i tunes. Although it still has it perks like the retina display and the display, music player etc. Besides the phone makers you are saying are better than Nokia pretty much make phones for high end users. In conclusion what am saying is that other phone makers are superb are good in their own respect (i even love the I phone) but we should not be too quick to dismiss Nokia or symbian as failed.Besides Nokia is still the largest phone maker by market share.
You must still be living in 2006. For software and apps, iOS and Android absolutely kill Symbian these days. We're talking about modern apps, not those old .sis files you Nokia people cling to. Also, there are a large number of free apps on the Apple AppStore, many of them really good. So you aren't forced to buy all your apps. Most downloads from the AppStore are for free apps.
bigbrovar: Most of the phones listed here are still stop gap measures meant at stopping the rot* not fixing it, just as symbian ^3 is still not the promiseland for nokia. All the devices announced in nokia world are not high end devices. Even the N8 is between the upper mid range line. The real ace for Nokia is the Rumored N9 which is expected to be the first device which ships Meego. Meego is what nokia intend to use as a weapon to battle android and iSO on the high end device spectrum. It would be a long battle in the mobile space but in this battle for once we the grass can sit and enjoy
I beg to differ. The N8 and E7 are top tier Nokia handsets. MeeGo will be the promised land some day, but for now those phones will be the flagship consumer and business phones for Nokia.
knotty: Whoever that guy is, he is finished in corporate employment in Nigeria. Those unforgiving bustards at the helm of corporate Nigeria will hunt and haunt him down. He should ask D`Banj.
He may have said the right things but he has said them in the wrongest manner possible.
For all his book sense, let him go and start a business call centre in Yaba and come and tell us what his employee(s) think(s) of him.
And you know, there might be employers looking for rednecks like him right now. But the truth is, the guy is tactless. he has little or no strategy! pity.
As for the Indians in corporate employment in Nigeria, screwups like this made room for them. sorry, they are gonna be here for a very long time please.
And what about people like you who seem to think that the only way to make progress in life is through paid employment? Many people go out there to make a fortune on their pwn. What makes you so sure that the fellow plans to go cap in hand, begging for another job?
pritypeety: U are so ignorant and a big fool 4 saying that! Do u even research at all? N8 is old news? a phone dat hasn't even been released yet I bet u belong to the class of people dat use china phones. C let me let u down onthe info, c6 and n8 was announced april 2010 but c6 has long been available since july. N8 on the other hand would be available October. c7 and e7 was just recently announced this September agreed and would also be released the same period with N8. so wats your problem dude?
See this twit! The C6 on display here is a revised model with a new AMOLED display, updated camera and the new Symbian revision. Before Nokia World, these 3 phones were not known to all, N8 has been in the news for ages. It's been previewed extensively by Eldar Murtazin of Mobile-review. it's been played with my loads of tech bloggers. Impressions have been posted on the web for months. In short, it is old news. Please if you cannot differentiate between 'old product' and 'old news', i cannot help you further.
darqly: I wouldn't say his analysis is entirely wrong though;Nigeria does seem quite indifferent to whom emerges as president at the moment. Instead of categorizing the situation as us 'being on the brink', I'd rather go with us being 'on the verge of a paradigm shift'. The pdp is in total disarray-a very welcome development that may yet lead to a darkhorse candidate pulling off a smash n' grab victory.
good pictures ke ? abeg forget that one.you would be surprised at the bad pix that would be uploaded,CNN sef go fear fear.just last month, one yeye
NGO paraded helpless children accused of witchcraft on CNN but the most astonishing part is that the so-called NGO had at a particular occasion collected
millions of naira from the Akwa ibom state governor only to come out on air to say the state government is doing less to protect those children.
'Yeye NGO'?! Since when did donating millions of Naira become 'doing enough' to protect abused kids? Isn't it the state's duty to PREVENT the abuse from happening and not to wait until the innocents are already suffering in orphanages before doing anything?
Abeg if you have nothing to do to help those suffering kids, please refrain from abusing those who are doing something.
Abeg make una leave matter. All these conspiracy theory loving scumbags that furiously condemn the Western world and exalt african despots like Mugabe and Ghadaffi. I despise these people with a passion. You remain silent on the rapes in Congo, famine in Zimbabwe, genocide in Darfur and human rights abuses in Guinea, yet you fly into a paroxysm of rage and jump at any opportunity to denounce the west.
This is not in support of the West or anything like that, but if your underlying motive is rooted in love for Africa, then be consistent!
It is also amusing seeing people worry about a vague western re-colonization but fail to see anything weird in the increasing radicalization of Northern Nigeria. How many topics did @chyz open when Al Qaeda started mentioning Nigeria in his infrequent tirades?
pritypeety: how come Nokia n8 no make dat newcomers list? c6, c7, and e7 are all crap and old story! but seriously the n8 makes more sense and of course to rival with ma sweet android OS! well the spec is making a lot of sense but still would not give up my android for it. Just check the N8 spec u probably would Love it.
Don't be silly. These were ALL just announced YESTERDAY. N8 is the one that is old news. You have an annoying penchant for speaking confidently about things you know little of.
After the truly crappy N97, many people (including myself) had written Nokia off as a dying giant. Now, it's clear that they won't go down without a fight
It'd be nice if you could state the exact iPhone model. If it's the first generation iPhone, prepare to pay a hefty sum. For the 3G and 3GS, the price for a new screen should be around 5-7 k
ayo84: watch this video, immunization is a fraud, an insult to nature our bodies are complex systems that can stand against any disease.they create higher strains of germs, viruses and diseases and they make us take vaccines, these vaccines have been responsible for deaths of millions, you dont get to hear about them, bcoz they control what you hear in the media.
there is a serious crisis about world population and they have to reduce it drastically.
Simple cure to cholera is using lemon and lime in water ,why dont talk about hygine, why are they emphaing monre on VACCINES,VACCINES
when avian flu was ravaging usa, nobody talked about that the simple cure to it was natural garlic, but all we ehard was vaccines, vaccines .
puskin: After telling the poor dude dis. . . . . .
U r suggesting he should have bought anoda slicker and more complex fone that will overpower his brain comprehension power MORE. . . . now I can see dat U don't like the dude
Stock Google is far easier to use than the jumbled mess that is the XPERIA's Timescape UI skin.
Shame we can't pirate accessories, eh? Imagine if we start seeing China made Guitar Hero peripherals here. i'm in PHC too. are you any good in pro evo soccer?
Of all the Android phones to buy, you go and grab an Xperia X10. That crappy, ugly, laggy device running an outdated version of Android.
The Nexus One costs the same, and you'd have been on 2.2 by now, with the strong possibility of an upgrade to 3.0 Gingerbread eventually. Sony will probably leave you stuck on 2.1 when the finally get to roll it around.
chyz: Please do take offense, but its Igbos like you who always eff it up for the masses and have us looking like fools across nigeria.what is wrong with moving as one full front? U ask why we should wait for Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo to dictate which candidate we should go for, one thing you have to understand is that they have access to information that we dont.another thing is they are the ones who have face to face discussions with these people. Also, As u can see by whats been going on for the past months, Igbo forums/groups have been claiming the SE is for GEJ while others are saying the SE is for IBB. Theres no clear stand for Igbos when going down that route. It serves us better to have one group that everybody will know when they speak it is the real deal.
It serves us no good for you to campaign against the decision they make. Put away you sentiments and remember its not about you or your feelings, its about your people.
Why should anyone tell you who to vote for? You're over 18, why in God's name are you not capable of analyzing the candidate pool and choosing the one you think best for Nigeria and your own personal interests. Are you not an adult?
MetalGong4: Prof, before this interview I thought that you were only concerned about zoning…
(cut in) Of course zoning and six geopolitical zones are the core of nationhood and nation building. You must have justice, fairness, equity and a sense of belonging by all constituent peoples in the Nigeria project before you can have national progress and development. That is why some of us consider zoning, six geopolitical zones and federal character principle as sacrosanct and vital for our unity, peace and stability. For the records, zoning, rotation and six geopolitical zones including the names South-East, South-South, North Central etc are the brainchild of the South East in 1994 which were canvassed comprehensively at the Constitutional Conference of 1995.
Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, and the late Dr. Sam Mbakwe led a South East presentation which they stoutly defended on the floor of the conference. Before that conference, the Igbo unanimously endorsed the concepts both at the committee level under late Dr. Pius Okigbo and by Ohanaeze. In my view it will be politically suicidal for Ndigbo to abandon these concepts in 2011 and 2015 and beyond before the deprived geopolitical zones would have attained the presidency. In my view, it is also cruel and unfair for geopolitical zones that used zoning to attain the presidency in 1999, 2003, 2007 to now turn and repudiate zoning before the purpose of zoning would have been achieved. This will be tantamount to crossing a bridge and burning that same bridge so that others on the disadvantaged side will not cross.
Except that zoning as understood by the North is rotation between North and South, not within the six geo-political zones.
Any Northern leader who assumes presidency will come up for re-election in 2015. With Goodluck Jonathan's example, do you people honestly think a Northerner will seriously step down in 2015 for anyone? Any agreement you sign will be rendered invalid. Was the zoning arrangement not cast iron before? Can you see the attempts being made to side-step it?
People talking about who they will vote are just being naive. The first stage is the PDP primaries. if Jonathan makes it through the primaries (a stage in which voters like you and me have zero influence), he'll win the presidency. Take a look at the opposition. Who are you igbos going to vote for if Jonathan scales through? Buhari?
A friend of mine has completed Halo:Reach I guess he downloaded it
Yep. I use MTN (among others)
Your friend is still gonna have to buy Halo:reach. A significant amount of it's value is its awesome online multiplayer modes. And he can't play online with a copied version of the game.
Just on a whim, i googled up her name (Nneka), and it still pops up prominently in connection with this whole sordid incident. People need to think of their future. Scandals like this could throw a monkey wrench in future employment or political options if it escalates from here. And Google has a long memory.
