Amakyzuu: Good morning, @Lagosismyhome. We finally went for the interview (Lag, young white lady). I didn't go in with my sister (14+), my dad did. So may not be able to get all information exactly how it went for the transcript. They asterisked the last paragraph of the white paper and gave them back her passport. Do you have an idea about what the chances would be like and how long we may need to wait for a feedback?
VO: Good morning HER: Good morning ma'am VO: Pass me your document HER: Have them VO: Why this school? HER:SAC High school was recommended by my Aunty who made all the research and I also got a scholarship for the duration of study VO: Okay, so you mean you will live with your aunty? HER:Yes VO:When did your Aunty become a citizen of the US HER: (She didnt know that but my dad answered). she got married to my brother who was already a citizen. VO: So who is your aunty to you? HER: My dad's brothers wife VO:What does she do? HER:owns a business VO:where does she live HER:tells VO:Tell me about the school HER:SAC High school has its motto as knowledge...., it has a christian concept and offers subjects like (cuts in) VO:How did you get the scholarship? HER:The school had reviewed my result and my performance and their decision was made on those grounds (cuts in) VO:I dont understand HER:The school looked at my transcript VO:Okay (turns to my dad) VO:do you have any identification DAD: yes and handed over. VO: excuse me (left and came back after a few mins handed him back his passport) VO: did you get the basket ball scholarship HER:No VO:I asked cos people go to that sch mainly for bball (hands the white paper with asterisk for Admin processing .... Returned the documents and passport) . wow congrats! |

folmus: Are you sure you can register for SAT online in Nigeria? Only if it's part of the new SAT. If all your options are exhausted and still unable to register, you can contact. How far with your IELTS prep? Goodluck. I also recently registered for SAT but paid with US card |

deeMarc: Lol...typical Nigerian, always stand aside to castigate and point out our problems but never do anything to salvage the situation. Funny how you listed all those things above without mentioning that their young able bodied men like you didn't leave the country then for a greener pasture and at the same time hoping those left behind would be busy inventing electricity, oil, nuclear energy and automobiles. Why didn't you leave America for Nigeria after your studies to contribute your own quota to the country? Were you born in America? What have you done to help Nigeria be a better country like the country you are in? You once posted here that you've both American and British citizenship,so I'm asking you this, while those people were developing their country, were they looking for other nationals citenzenship here and there. I see you as someone who has this holier than thou attitude, egocentric and ... Don't come here to be the type of Nigerians that rant online while enjoying the comfort of America. If you're so pained and so bothered about Nigeria, there's nothing stopping you from booking the next available flight to Nigeria and let's build the nation together to be a better place for us all to dwell in, since our leaders have failed us,keep failing us and will always fail us . can't stop laughing |

Jesusbabygirl: Good evening house and thanks for the congratulatory messages.
My interview was quite short and the VO...very pleasant (honestly he was). Also, I was the first person to be interviewed at the embassy today (NIV). Here is my transcript:
Me: Good morning VO: Good morning, how are you doing?
Me: Very well thank you VO: Please pass me your passport and I-20
VO: So what are you going to study in Iowa State University? Me: I am going for Masters in Business Administration
VO: Nice, so how is it working at ....(my workplace) Me: Challenging but interesting
VO: I see you have a scholarship, what type of scholarship is it? Me: It is a research assistanship, which means I will be working with a faculty
VO: So how will you fund the other expenses Me: I have been sav...(VO helped complete my statement "saving up right" (Me: Yes)
VO: How did you find out about the school? Me: Online research
VO: Have you travelled before? Me: No
VO: Pick up your visa in....
LOBATAN!.
Honestly, I was in shock the first few minutes after the interview that I had got my visa approved. I really appreciate this great thread because I learnt most (actually everything) about the process here. @Lagosismyhome @Walspring @ElDeeVee, special thanks to you for your time and assistance and special special thanks to my sweet hubby @12inches1, for the encouragement (seriously this US visa journey is not an easy or cheap one).
So, do I have tips...yes I do! 1. Be completely honest: Like LadyG will always says, tell the whole truth. Last year, I was denied a b1/b2 visa but I didn't get worried when I had to apply for F1 because I told the truth in my previous (and of course F1) application 2. Prepare, Prepare and Prepare: I am not saying cram words to tell the VO (definitely not), but please know your stuff (your course, your duties at work, etc). It boosts your confidence level at the interview, even if you end being asked only "what is your name" 3. Ask for God's grace (my most important): Irrespective of what anyone might say, there is a supernatural that controls the natural. Me I told God that I didn't want a stressful interview (all those ones where you have to recount your 4,5yrs experience in school in form of questions) and he answered me.
All the best to those who have not gone for their own interviews and those at other stages of the process too. . NICE!!!! |

Shittalek: Greetings everyone,
Have been a silent follower of this thread for about seven months and i promised myself to post transcript when i have my visa approved. A day without reading people's transcript and contribution is like missing an episode of a series movie. I read all the way from part four till date and gained immensely from everyone's contribution.
I never envisaged the nature of the interview i had today. It was pure grace favor, luck and mercies of God that worked for me today. Over- preparation worry me no be small because have been developing transcript for over 4 months and kept editing every now and then.
Interview went thus:
VO: Good morning, passport and I-20 Me: Good Ma'am VO: Tell me your study plan ME: I am going to; VO cuts, she dint even allow me say anything before interrupting VO: What do you ME: I work with; VO cuts again, she dint let me complete my sentence. VO: Do you have any certificate and what did you study in your undergraduate ME: I studied Business Administration and am also a graduate member of NIM VO: Started typing for ages. She barely looked at my face all through the interview process. Your visa has been approved and i was given a pick letter.
No document was asked.
Special thanks to a good friend and brother Halidaf for ginger and info, Uncle Ope Salami, SirRiddy for the SEVIS fee and Warriboy. You all are favored by God's grace. . so nice no stress |
