Finally people, I have a car for the hustle. (A Camry 2005)
My partner is also on this platform but I think he likes to be anonymous and I'll leave it that way.

Anyways it feels good to finally realise this but there are lots of tasks ahead. What may seem impossible, actually is possible with God.

I should have gone for inspection by now if not for some bike men that rammed the car from the back, dented the bumper and broke the left rear light.

I was just driving o jeje with my partner in the vehicle with me when one bike just faced one way while overtaking with speed. I had to slam the brakes so I won't kill him. If I hadn't, God knows what we'll be saying today, at that, like four bikes that were very close hit the car from behind damaging the left rear light and causing a serious damage to the paint on the bumper and the guy that caused it ran away.

My partner had to even had to buy bumper for one stupid bikeman like that who won't let us go. I should have activated hoodlum mode but I just weak that afternoon.

I bought the rear light yestetday, (quite expensive but I had help from a good Samaritan) it's fixed then remains the painting of bumper. Thought I'd be able to do that today but all of them are saying tomorrow morning, so tomorrow Monday morning, I believe I will do it and then go for inspection.

Someone said 25k lol. One painter at Festac said 7k last. But Omo, I no get money. I just hope I'd get someone to do it at say 5k tomorrow at first gate Agidingbi. One guy already said I should bring it but we never talk price.

I would have switched to Indriver but they won't accept a temporary license (I've been processing my license for almost a year now.) Took JTB form thrice now, 3 months each and the license is not yet out still processing. Bolt had been my saving grace. But I don't know if any one knows what I can do to get on Indriver with my temporary license. I don't want to stick to bolt alone. Anything can happen.

I want to thank and appreciate people who advised me, loaned me money, who were available at every time I needed someone to talk to:

PEARL
FELICITY
GLITHRONIX
LUSH 100
READADREAM
YEYEGBAMI

and every other person. This thread has been and will continue to be of huge benefit.

Thanks Everyone.

Is it the whole rear bumper that the painter at festac called 7k for u? If yes, give me the painters number.i need to work on my front bumper

A lot of derailing in going on here. I believe this section should have a moderator. Some people are here to get tips and motivations in the hustle. All these name calling here is unnecessary. Moderator in this section have been too silent while things have gone bad.

Dope ride.

Hope you know that the Acura brand is the Luxury wing of Honda?

So,its basically the tushed version of Honda with more extra pampering on maintanance.

I personally will not encourage it to be used for E-hailing,because you are going to spend double on maintaining it.
Your riders will like it more, but they wont pay extra for the Luxury.

So? Not a Win Win situation.

Think about it through.

Thanks

Will ponder on this.

Good morning senior pilots.
What do you guys think about going into bolt with my car, an Acura tsx. It is a 2008 model and it is 4 plugs. I intend to drive it myself not full time though.
Is it advisable? Is it a good side hustle considering the car is quite different from corolla and the civics.

You have another bad O2 sensor
One last question please.
Which O2 sensor is this?
The one at the engine area or the one at the exhaust?
Because the one I changed earlier was the one at the engine area.

60 to 80 on the highway is not the sweet spot for fuel economy on most cars.

80 to 100 is.

Your daily drive is good since it's devoid of traffic and it's short.

Have a look at your brakes. They may be binding. Inflate your tyres properly to 36psi at least.
Check your alignment both front and rear.

If this continues, you may want to check if your cat is plugged up.

Alright.
I forgot to mention I even inflated my tire to the manufacturers specification on Friday. 32psi for front tires and 30psi for the rear tires.

As for the brakes, I am seeing a check brake system info on my dash. Should be two weeks now. Since then I have checked my brake fluid and it is still OK. I have also changed the two brake pads in front cause the were beginning to squeak when i stepped on the brakes. And the check brake system warning still comes up.

1. How long in miles and minutes is your average trip?
2. Where do you regularly drive from and to?
3.do you leave the engine to idle a lot (e.g warming in the morning, while gisting with a friend etc)
4. Do you drive it like you stole it (racing) or like a grandpa?

Home to office is not actually far. Highest 15 to 20mins drive devoid of traffic
It is only during the weekends I take it out to farther distance. If ur in lagos u should know from ojo to ikoyi and vgc is quite some distance. I have done that during weekends.
I Don leave it to idle a lot.
I maintain between 60 to 80 on highways. I believe that's good enough.

Good day Gazzuzz and other senior guys here.
I use an acura tsx 2008 model
I need help. Seems my car is guzzling fuel.
I scanned it sometime in June and it showed my my 02 sensor was bad with code P0135. I bought another 02 sensor and changed it. Cleared the error code and since then whenever I scan with my Bluetooth scanner, that error code does not show
But on the vehicle instrument cluster, I have been monitoring the average fuel usage for my trips
I see high figures of between 27 to 30 L/100km.That got me alarmed.
I went to a mech and asked him to scan my car and I got the code P1157. Infact the guy said this ur car go dey drink fuel oo
I am confused guys.
Yesterday I proceeded to change my plugs and also clean my engine air filter. Still the trip computer is showing me 30 L/100km as instant average fuel usage.
Make una help me.

I use an acura tsx 2008 model. I am seeing the check engine light on my instrument cluster. I need a cheap and effective scanner I can use as a car owner so that I can direct my mechanic on what to do. Anyone in the range of 5k to 15k that works well will be appreciated.

Your TPMS module has issues, it’s for monitoring your tyre pressures on all four wheels

Your abs system has an issue, might be sensors

Your daylight running light is working well

Scan your car to pinpoint your issue
Okay. Will scan. I am a newbie when it comes to owning cars. Took the car to my mechanic on Saturday and he checked the abs at the back with his multimeter and they were working well. He cleaned and put them back. Said he will check the front ABS when he is a bit free.
Secondly, how do you handle a check emission system prompt?
Should I just change the o2 upstream and downstream sensors?

ThrottleHolic:

Over 98% of Nigerian car users abuse cars, they don't use them.

They also hate vehicles that don't appreciate abuse.

Further, when buying parts, they buy the most substandard and cheapest they can find, then complain when a vehicle disappoints them!

Have you not seen the photos/sights of Gwagens, 8W124s and Land Cruisers with that dreaded 'leg pull' by the roadside on even on the middle of the highways? Forget Nigerians and their super poor maintenance culture!

I've used all shades of Hondas over the years, never have I had the leg pull.

Never.

Not even once!

Buy your Honda Civic and maintain it with genuine OEM parts and it will serve you in the years to come.

Like me, maintained properly, that shaft won't pull on you.

Ever.

My only concern (and by extension, your challenge) remains how you'll get a non-abused Nigerian used Civic. That is only what should concern you at this time.

If you have any further questions, ask away.

Thanks for this

Please I am stuck in a dilemma and I need the car gurus in this section to step in. I am about to buy my first car. The economy is tight so I am buying a Nigerian used car. I have a budget of 1.5million for a matrix or a 2008 Honda civic cars. Everyone is just telling me to avoid Honda cars because of leg pull. Trying to convince them that civic legs don't pull and they said it is a lie. I need civic users and experienced mechs and car guys to advise me. Is it wise buying that for a first car? The price of matrix keeps shooting above my budget.

My brother, a good car is a function of its maintenance. That is why tokunbo cars of good grades are far better. The truth is that it is very difficult to get a good Nigerian used car be it any brand. Nigerians don't care much for their cars. Just think about it.

I know foreign used cars I.e Tokunbo is far better than Nigerian used vehicles. But I seriously need a vehicle now. And I believe there are also good Nigerian used vehicles although they might be few.

Baba, I'm giving you my word. Considering your budget for Eod, you'd get a very good naija used. Very good one. The leg pull thing is a matter of maintenance, go for regular checkups monthly and I assure you it won't happen. It's a good car to start with. I'm talking out of experience. Enjoy man

Car Talk / Hey Guys, I Need Me Some Advice. by ThatIgboBoy: 5:24pm On Oct 03, 2021
Please guys, I really need a car and what I can afford now is a Nigerian Used EOD. My budget is between 800k and 900k. And that will be my first ever car.

Is it advisable to start with a Honda accord? I have been silently following trends here and finding out stuffs from some guys I know. My colleague who uses a Honda accord 2000 is encouraging me to go for it. That if I maintain it well, I wouldn't experience the Honda suprise 'Leg pull"
Another colleague who uses a Honda pilot 2006 is telling me to avoid Honda especially accords. And that also, maintaining a Honda is not that easy.
So please I need any possible advice I can get before I make a mistake.
