Those Ghanaians seem more interested in maintaining an illusion of 'peacefulness' and 'stability', than in challenging their leaders to do more, as occurs in Nigeria (hence her being more 'volatile').

They are beginning to speak up too recently. If you liked the Facebook page of Pulse Ghana, you will see where Ghanaians comment on topics related to national issues. They now seriously berating the government of Akufo Ado Nana. But Nigeria seems more volatile truly.

Don't be deceived brother, Ghana is not better than Nigeria. I lived in Accra, so I know what I am saying. If there is anyone giving you the impression that 'if you can't get job in Nigeria, just go to Ghana and you will get a job,' that's mendacious. Most of those who talk like that don't know the reality. They just talk based on heresay and fake imaginations. Cost of living in Accra is so expensive than Nigeria, believe me.

Culture / Re: Family's Deity by TheAviator: 5:26pm On Apr 27, 2021
loko4nation:
Pls my fellow nlander, I need your sincere contribution on this issue am putting forward.

Family deity which we all know as mythology religion A preternatural orsupernatural human or non-human being or entity, or an object that possesses miraculous or supernatural attributes, powers or superpowers (e.g. a god or goddess).mythology religion The divine character of adivinity.mythology religion A being, entity or object revered as a god or goddess.

My question now, is that can someone or a family member go through hell, misfortune for not worshiping the deity for a very long time and after different consultation from the elderly once I mean those that knows much about family tradition, said the deity is the cause of your problem, pls how is that possible?

Yes, it's possible. But that does not mean you should go and worship it. This particular topic is what a Pastor and I discussed extensively today, and I began to dig more, that's how I stumbled upon this thread.

According to the Pastor, some of our fathers have served these deities and ignorantly committed their souls and descendants to them. Serving these deities require some form of periodical rituals which our fathers diligently did. There diligence in performing the rituals prevented the deities from fighting.

However, as the modern day children who are Christians and Muslims refuse to bow and perform rituals to these deities, they begin to fight the children and wreak havocs in their lives. The deities are fighting back because the covenant with the children's fathers are being violated.

Now the solution is either to go and serve the deities and offer the propitiating rituals or you genuinely give your life to Christ and do a special deliverance that will disconnect you from the deities and the covenants our fathers entered into. The Pastor said that the children make mistakes by not serving the deities while not also genuinely commiting to Jesus.

Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo also said something similar at Shiloh 2007, that after becoming a Christian, he noticed that nobody in his family was making any progress, so he located the family shrine, destroyed it and even sprinkled the blood of Jesus to disconnect his family from the deity. After this ordnance, he built a house whithin a month. The deity only has power over you as long as the link is not broken. But so long as it if broken, the deity becomes powerless over you.

So, the solution is to disconnect yourself from any covenant your fathers may have entered into by getting into a new covenant with Jesus.

You didn’t read their statement. They said the son will lead the transitional council for 18 months before elections will hold. Chad is not the type of established democracy as we have in Nigeria. Even before this President died, he had been a dictator.

I’m suspecting a coup. The circumstances leading to Derby’s death is vague. If the rebels can truly get to the president, they should have gotten to the son and other top military leaders. How the rebels killed the president who ordinarily should be the most protected person in the war front without killing the top generals is suspicious.

Nothing is suspicious about it. If you know the type of person Idriss Deby Itno was, you wouldn't talk like this. He wasn't a war leader who leads by hiding in the shadows. He really stays at the front where he could be shot. I have wondered for years what gave him such confidence. He stays in harms way when leading and the rebels knew this.

So when Yaradua died, why didn't Major General A.B Dambazau take over? Ewu

He is not an idiot. All countries don't use the same construction. That Nigeria has a constitution that requires a Vice President to take over when the President dies, doesn't mean Chad or other countries have the same system. Chad is tacitly a military dictatorship. Idriss Deby Itno had been positioning his son to succeed him. I am not surprised a bit that his son is succeeding him.

Car Talk / Tesla Driverless Car Crashes Into Tree & Bursts Into Flames In Texas, Killing 2 by TheAviator: 5:32am On Apr 19, 2021
Two men have died after a Tesla vehicle, which was believed to be operating without anyone in the driver's seat, crashed into a tree on Saturday night north of Houston, authorities said.

Key points:
•After the fire was extinguished, authorities located two occupants in the vehicle, with one in the front passenger seat and the other in the back seat of the Tesla

•The accident comes amid growing scrutiny over Tesla's semi-automated driving system following recent accidents

•The US auto safety agency said in March it had opened 27 investigations into crashes of Tesla vehicles

“There was no-one in the driver’s seat," Sergeant Cinthya Umanzor of the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 said.

The 2019 Tesla Model S was travelling at high speed when it failed to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway, crashing to a tree and bursting into flames, local television station KHOU-TV said.

After the fire was extinguished, authorities located two occupants in the vehicle, with one in the front passenger seat and the other in the back seat, the report said, citing Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.

Tesla and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The accident comes amid growing scrutiny over Tesla's semi-automated driving system following recent accidents, and as it is preparing to launch its updated "full self-driving" software to more customers.

The US auto safety agency said in March it had opened 27 investigations into crashes of Tesla vehicles. At least three of the crashes occurred recently.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in January that he expected huge profits from the company's full self-driving software, saying he was "highly confident the car will be able to drive itself with reliability in excess of human this year".

The self-driving technology must overcome safety and regulatory hurdles to achieve commercial success.

Hmmm... It's amazing how people lose goodwill because of their belle. This man used to be one of the most respectable clergy in this country before he dabbled into politics. He badly exposed his weaknesses. That's why I tell Yoruba to be wary that their belle do not put them in trouble. The hatred that this man exhibited for Jonathan, a Christian is appalling. I million man march ... Today, with Buhari's government doing much more worse evil, he has lost the will to criticize and protest. No wonder Jesus said that many will tell Him on that day, did we not do this and do that in your name, but He will tell them "Depart from Me. Ye that work iniquity" To me, that Jonathan is a Christian is reason why no Christian should have supported a known Jihadist. Unfortunately, even Christians proved to be the most ignorant. Now, you practically have to fight for your lives as tribes and ethnic groups to avoid annihilation. Thanks to blind Christians of Nigeria. By the way, the only Yoruba pastor that proved he is different id that Winners Chapel man. May God bless hem and many others like him. Like Nehemiah, may the Lord remember him for standing for His people.

For this meeting, I suspect that El Rufai has been anointed by the cabal to replace Buhari in 2023. As usual, the Fulani knows their ally. What surprises me is how obtuse southerners who think power is coming to the south are. Fulani are no fools, even though they're not too smart. They'd rather die than give up their perfect advantage at maximum domination. An ethnic group controls Security, Legislature, Judiciary and Electoral body against all known principles of national character and fairness knowing silly Nigerians would tolerate it. Is it rigging an election that would be a big deal?

Politics / Defence Headquarters Takes Lead In All Joint Operations by TheAviator: 6:32am On Mar 27, 2021
Commanders of Joint Operations will henceforth report to the Chief of Defence Staff

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Oladayo Amao has stated that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and other sister Services have agreed to subordinate themselves to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) under the able leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor.

According to him, just as it is obtainable in military organizations worldwide, the DHQ is responsible for the command and control of the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) which also means that all ongoing joint operations and Joint Task Forces are directly subordinated to the DHQ, and their commanders report directly to the CDS. This, he said, is the new line the Service Chiefs have all agreed to tow as efforts are on to bring the various security challenges to an end.

Air Marshal Amao made this known in Makurdi while on his maiden tour of Tactical Air Command (TAC). According to him, 'When we say we are members of the AFN, we mean the 3 Services represent a single entity. When we accept the fact that we the members of the AFN constitute a united entity, the need for rivalry will not arise.'

Air Marshal Amao also spoke of his administration's resolve to revert to the military tradition of adherence to seniority and hierarchy in the appointment of officers to head command posts. 'Situations where subordinate officers are given command appointments ahead of their seniors does not augur well for the system as this breeds insubordination and indiscipline'.  Speaking on discipline, Air Marshal Amao stated that there would be no sacred cows when it comes to discipline as those found wanting would be punished as ascribed in the Armed Forces Act.

He also spoke of the impending arrival of some platforms purchased for the NAF to Makurdi and urged personnel to support the 131 Engineering Group, being the hub of some of the platforms, as well as make the foreign technicians feel at home. The platforms, according to the CAS, when fully operational would be deployed immediately to the theatres of operations and should hopefully be the game changers in all DHQ led operations nationwide.

The CAS also stated that efforts were currently underway to improve the combat efficiency of the NAF and other services to an appreciable level and these efforts have the full backing of the President and Commander -in - Chief of the AFN, President Muhammadu Buhari. He then enjoined NAF personnel to continue to support the Federal Government in its efforts to equip the NAF and other Services.

Personnel welfare also got a boost as the CAS assured that non promotion of NAF personnel due to inability to attend courses that should enable their upgrading would be given special consideration as soon as they meet the criteria set for the promotion. On NAF post service housing schemes, the CAS frowned at the situation where personnel are compelled and put under financial duress just to meet up with initial deposits for the houses. According to him, 'Housing schemes by the NAF should be easily affordable and stress-free.' He then directed the Chief of Administration to work out modalities where payment for houses would be deducted from monthly salaries and not in lump sums that usually exert undue pressure on personnel. 'These practices have proven to be effective and efficient in other developing countries and I see no reason why we can't try it here', he said.

The visit, which had the Chiefs of Training and Operations, Logistics, Air Intelligence and Aircraft Engineering in attendance saw the CAS tour various units within TAC Makurdi.

I've always want to ask the above question. I'm curious to know. Please if you have an answer to the question kindly drop it in the comment section. Thanks!

The 'civilian women" are the wives of the officers being promoted. That's the tradition. The wife of an officer being promoted participates in his decoration. They are there to relish the success of their partners. Actually, it's not that 'civilian women' are participating. The idea is actually to have the partner of the promoted officer to be part of the celebration, irrespective of gender.

Family / Re: What The Law Says About Next-of-kin In Nigeria by TheAviator: 3:20pm On Feb 28, 2021
iamkazeem:
WHAT THE LAW SAYS ABOUT NEXT-OF-KIN IN NIGERIA

Are you among those that think by giving a name to financial institutions (bank for example) as next-of-kin you have chosen that person to automatically inherit your wealth in the event of your demise? In other words, do you think by merely picking someone as your next-of-kin you have made that person a beneficiary to your wealth or entitlement(s) in the event of your death? Let us attempt a little legal analysis based on two factors: whether the deceased has a Will (a document written by a deceased when he was alive that prescribes how his property is to be shared when he dies) or whether he dies without a will

In law when a person dies leaving behind a will, he is said to have died testate. In such a circumstance, Issue of next-of-kin becomes useless. The reason is that the wealth of the deceased will simply be shared in line with the contents of the will.

The position is still the same even where the deceased dies without leaving a will. The position is that when a person dies without a will, the question as to who to inherit his wealth is determined by law, that is to say, customary law, or Islamic law or English Law or the Administration of Estates law (or equivalent legislation) not whom the deceased mentioned in his bank or place of work as next-of-kin.

How then do we know the law to be applied in sharing the property of the deceased? The law to be applicable in distributing the estate of the deceased shall be determined by the incidence of marriage of the deceased. If a deceased contracted a statutory marriage, succession to his wealth will be effected in accordance with either the English law or the Administration of Estates Law (or equivalent legislation), depending on the jurisdiction. See Obuzez V. Obuzez (2007) 10 NWLR (Pt. 1043) 430.

Under English Law and the administration of estate laws of various state, the surviving spouse together with the children of the deceased inherit his estate to the exclusion of every other person. The parents of the deceased takes next after the surviving spouse and children, followed by brothers and sisters of the full blood, brothers and sisters of half blood, grandparents, aunties and uncles of full blood relation to the parents of the deceased etc. See Kekereogun & Ors v. Oshodi (1971) LPELR-1686(SC) subject however to contrary provisions under the administration of estate laws of various states.

Where however the deceased contracted a customary marriage, then customary law will determine who will inherit the property of the deceased. That is to say in the circumstance, heirs are those who are under native law and custom entitled to inherit his estate. For Muslims, Islamic law determines who to inherit the deceased estate.

Therefore, under the Nigerian law of intestate succession, one cannot choose his heir under the pretext of next-of-kin; the law imposes heirs on him. For example it is the surviving spouse and children of an intestate who married under the Act that are his heirs. The intestate cannot therefore, by naming only one of them or any of his other blood relatives his next-of-kin, scheme them out of inheritance as the act of naming his next-of-kin does not amount to testamentary disposition.

In view of the foregoing, there is nothing special about next-of-kin as far as succession is concerned. Next-of-kin is merely the first contact point if anything happens to you. He is someone empowered to make decisions for you in times of emergency or where you are not readily available or unable to make the decisions yourself. He is someone empowered to provide necessary information about you where needed such as confirming your identity. He is also someone positioned to make medical decisions such as providing consent for a medical procedure. At best, what a next-of-kin can do after the demise of the deceased is perhaps to ensure that necessary steps are taken towards obtaining letter of administration from the probate. The typical Nigerian's conception of the term, "next-of-kin" is therefore erroneous.

A next-of-kin can inherit only if he is named in a Will as a beneficiary or by his status he is entitled by law to inherit but not actually because he is named as the next-of-kin of the deceased in a bank or place of work.
