Politics / 2023 Presidential Election: It Will Be Bola Tinubu Vs Atiku Abubakar by TheAviator: 8:42am On Feb 27, 2022
Here is the bitter truth, the forthcoming 2023 presidential contest will be between Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu of APC and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of PDP.

While other parties are going to field candidates for the 2023 Presidential election, the candidates of the two major parties, APC and PDP, will be the main gladiators, and one of them will emerge as Nigeria's next President.

I described the above scenario as 'a bitter truth' because I know that there are lots of people who are hellishly opposed to Tinubu and Atiku. There are thousands of Nigerians who can't stand the idea of a Tinubu or an Atiku Presidency, that they have come up with false hopes and self-consolatory ideas such as, 'Amaechi is Buhari's anointed,' 'Wike will stop Atiku,' etc.

While I empathize with those who don't like these two veteran politicians, I think it's self-deception to say that they are weak candidates. Sometimes in life, humans are faced with unwanted realities, and the political reality in Nigeria today is a perfect example of such unwanted realities. People may not like them, but both Tinubu and Atiku will end up emerging as the Presidential candidates of their respective parties.

Both the husband and fatherinlaw are very stubborn as it seems. The fatherinlaw told him to send his daughter back to him so he can continue to sponsor her as he won't ever succumb to the idea of continuing sponsoring a daughter who is in her husband's house.

That's why I said they need to stop telling each other "you should sponsor her." The husband should stop insisting it's the parent's responsibility while the parents should stop insisting it's the hubby's responsibility. This seeming abdication of responsibility by both sides is what is making both sides to be obdurate. They should come together and should both sponsor her. This way, either side will not feel the other side is trying to take advantage of him.

Iyaebe:
She's a student and jobless for now.(200level)

Then both her father and hubby can contribute to sponsor her. I think the husband can still be persuaded to be part of her sponsorship. It might be that the girl's parents are making it look like it's compulsory for him to sponsor her education because he is now her husband, and that's why he is just saying no because he doesn't like people with entitlement mentality. Humans have the tendency to say no when we approach them with an entitlement mentality.

The solution is that both sides should compromise. The girl's parents and her hubby should stop being rigid. Both sides should sponsor her education. The girl's parents should try to persuade the man and not try to insist that it's his responsibility. They should appeal to his human side, his affection for the wife, and nobler motive. They should tell him he is doing it to be of help to his wife, and not that he is being forced to do it. This way, he will be persuaded.

Please I would love to get a sincere and unbiased response from this question. Please who takes over the academic responsibilities(school fees, pocket money and others) when a lady still schooling decides to get married, is it the husband or the parents are to continue their responsibilities till she graduates?

The lady can also be responsible for her own tuition fees, unless she is impecunious.

Health / Re: Lady Bitten To Death By Snake In Abuja As She Sat To Urinate by TheAviator: 11:14am On Nov 22, 2021
Grandmeister:
Even a black mamba's bite can afford you 20 minutes to get to the hospital (and we don't have black mamba here). This lady had about 30 minutes to one hour to get antivenom shots and live but she didn't get it. Either because
1. The hospitals didn't have any(or the appropriate antivenom shot)
2. She was being treated with traditional method while her window for survival was closing.

That you saw a snake charmer catching the snake in the video does not mean she was treated in the traditional way. She wasn't treated with traditional method. Immediately after the bite, she drove herself to the hospital. But unfortunately, she didn't make it. She bled to death, leaving behind the baby she was nursing.

Was going through this thread searching for a reasonable comment like yours.

The story isn't complete. She couldn't have died on the spot. What was done after the snake bite matters a lot.

Soon after the snake bite, she drove herself to the hospital. But she couldn't make it. She bled to death, leaving behind the baby she was nursing.

'MY EXTRA SEAT' product by South African Airways, allows passengers to reserve seats next to them, guaranteeing that no one sits next to them on their flights.

There is now a new way of traveling in South African Airways Economy Class, and it’s better than anything you’ve experienced.

South African Airways has launched a new product called MY EXTRA SEAT. The option allows passengers to block seats next to them, guaranteeing that no one sits next to them on their flights.

You can block one or more empty seats beside you, and travel with peace of mind while enjoying more comfort, extra personal space, and room to stretch out, lay down, or anything in between.

MY EXTRA SEAT gives you confidence and the flexibility that finally meets today’s evolved passenger needs. It can be used by single travellers, couples, families, and work colleagues.

Starting from USD25, MY EXTRA SEAT is available for purchase 24 hrs before your flight departure.

To reserve your extra seats, simply visit www.flysaa.com and click on 'Manage My Booking.' Select the Seats links from "Before my flight." From the seat map, select a seat for each passenger and pay the associated fee. Check-in and start your journey to a more spacious travel experience.

MY EXTRA SEAT service is only available on flights operated by South African Airways (SAA) and ticket numbers starting with 083. Other terms and conditions apply.

Foreign Affairs / ‘father Of Pakistan’s Nuclear Programme’ Abdul Qadeer Khan Dies by TheAviator: 10:29am On Oct 10, 2021
Pakistani atomic scientist died after being transferred to the hospital with lung problems.

Pakistan nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan was lauded for bringing the nation up to par with archrival India

Abdul Qadeer Khan, revered as the father of Pakistan’s nuclear programme, has died at 85.

The Pakistani atomic scientist, hailed as a national hero for making his country the world’s first Islamic nuclear power but regarded by the West as a dangerous renegade responsible for smuggling technology to rogue states, was transferred to hospital with lung problems, state-run PTV said.

Khan had been admitted to the same hospital in August after contracting the coronavirus.

After being permitted to return home several weeks ago, he was transferred back after his condition deteriorated.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said on Twitter that an urgent meeting “was called.. to finalise arrangements for the funeral ceremony”.

Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi said he was “deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan”, whom he had known personally since 1982.

Khan was lauded for bringing Pakistan up to par with archrival India in the atomic field and making its defences “impregnable”.

But he found himself in the international crosshairs when he was accused of illegally sharing nuclear technology with Iran, Libya and North Korea.

After a confession on national television, Khan was pardoned by then-president Pervez Musharraf but remained under house arrest for years in his palatial Islamabad home.

In 2006 Khan was struck with prostate cancer but recovered after surgery.

A court ended his house arrest in February 2009, but Khan’s movements were strictly guarded, and he was accompanied by authorities every time he left his home in Islamabad.

Travel / Re: What To Do If Your Passport Is Lost or Stolen While Traveling Abroad by TheAviator: 5:28am On Sep 26, 2021
Mstravelindiva:
Hello Nairalanders,

So you've saved, planned, and finally booked your wonderful vacation/holiday and now that you have arrived at your destination...oh no...the unthinkable happens. So now what - what happens in the instance of a lost or stolen passport? Are you stuck in a foreign country forever? No, and below are a few tips (and suggestions) to help you should you find yourself in this scenario.

Once you’ve reached your accommodation, place your passport somewhere safe, such as the hotel room safe. You should also store your other important belongings, such as your camera, money and jewellery, depending on how safe the city is that you’re in.

Make at least one or two copies of your passport and keep these in various pieces of luggage.

Leave a copy with a friend or family member at home.

Make sure to keep a virtual copy of your passport that is always available, like on your Google Drive or Dropbox. This way, regardless of where you are, you’ll always have a copy, assuming you have access to an internet connection and a printer!

As soon as you are aware that your passport is missing, head to your nearest police station and open a case. You will be issued a case number.

If there is no Nigerian consulate or embassy in the city that you are in, you will have to travel to the nearest location with these offices. This might mean taking a bus or a domestic flight to another city.

Find your nearest Nigerian embassy or consulate and explain to them what has happened. Assuming everything else is in order, you will be issued a travel document, allowing you to return to Nigeria.

For more travel tips and ways to save on your upcoming travels, please feel free to follow me on Instagram: @MsTravelinaDiva_ and on YouTube: Ms. Travelin Diva

Take care, be well and safe travels my friends~

But a virtual copy will show only the data page. Will that suffice?

Hushpuppi was retaliating against the Nigerian Government, Because FBI must have informed the attorney general before arresting him in Dubai, Hushpuppi had Abba Kyari on his payroll to alert him about things like this and possibly interpol communication.

Ask yourself ?? Hushpuppi could have named so many other people.....a lot of politicians did business with him, a lot of yahoo boys were involved with Hushpuppi but he chose only to mention Kyari's name.

Not a coincidence......word of advice for people who do follow follow...be careful who you follow !!!
