Race is still a major problem in many parts of the United States. Mexican-Americans are often ridiculed and considered illegal. We all know that blacks are seen as criminals. Middle Eastern people are viewed as terrorist. Even Asians are not spared. Just look at the hateful comments that was directed at them after the Asiana airline crash in San Francisco. |
israel007: Your point is?Use your mind to understand the point that was made. |
This is a funny question. It should be renamed, Who is the best at speaking the colonizers language? Is that something to be proud of? |
We have been taught to hate our own skin. That being black is tantamount to being a criminal. What has the black race done to deserve all this hate? 400 years of slavery, 100 years of colonialism/Apartheid/Jim Crow, and they still hate us? |
Ayee Idris: I don't care about Zimmerman. He is NOT white, but Hispanic.Hispanic is not a race you FOOL. Hispanic is an ethnicity. You can be white and Hispanic, just like you can be black and Hispanic, or even a Mestizo (Mixed race) and Hispanic. So when did Hispanic become a race? |
I am seething with anger right now. Trayvon Martin was the one on trial for his own murder. |
Why is the OP asking this question? I tell you that slavery and colonialism has done a number on the psyche of black people around the world. From Brazil to the United States to Nigeria, that the OP has to ask what has the black race done to "promote overall development for mankind." Do Asians (i.e. Chinese, Koreans, Japanese), Europeans (i.e. Greeks, Germans, Italians) and Hispanics (i.e. Mexicans, Cubans, Bolivians) ask this question? |
His comments about Africans shows that this so called Ph.D suffers from self-hatred. It is very hard to take the rest of this article seriously when he insults all of Africa. |
If this is Nigeria in 2050, I wonder how the industrialized world will look. |
I think everyone who has commented on this topic forgot one thing: CLIMATE CHANGE Sea levels are rising so the sea may be coming to the Igbos instead of the Igbos going to the sea. |
Abagworo: Nigeria can only divide peacefully on North-South basis. Any other division beyond that, will lead to eternal crisis worse than Middle east.Read every single post and the statement above is the most accurate. To be frank, the only acceptable division of Nigeria that the rest of the world would support is a North/South divide. So Igbos and Yorubas should learn to get along, because they are not separating. |
bloggernaija: Another white elephant from unthinking people.what happened to Abuja information technology zone? Oh wait let me see,Abuja does not have the human resources.meanwhile, many IT incubation centres are springing up all over Lagos via private enterpriseI do not think you know the definition of what a white elephant project means. |
I have an inconvenient truth for Southern Nigeria. The rest of the world would be more comfortable with Nigerian dividing North/South than back to the regional framework. There is a reason why international news network always say a more prosperous south and a north that is mired in poverty. Too bad the Yoruba and Igbo politicians do not see eye to eye. Both groups are more alike than most of you are willing to admit. |
Maybe Lagos can become a city-state like Singapore. Singapore is only 274 square miles. Lagos is 385 square miles. A lot of potential for Lagos. Republic of Lagos? |
Who can blame him? Brazil has some of the most beautiful women on the planet. It must be that Black, Portuguese and Indian mix. |
Weren't some of you singing praises for Nigeria a couple of months ago when all things were good and they were winning tournaments? Now you are cursing the Super Eagles? ![]() |
Ideye actions was shameful. Instead of running to get a jersey, he should have held his head down in shame. ![]() |
Akpala, Ideye and Musa. ![]() |
I am done. |
toshmann: Hehehe I laugh in Zulu. Make I no talkMaybe I should emphasized highly trained immigrants. We do not need anymore laborers, but if you are good at working with computers then welcome. ![]() |
The UK treats Nigerians like dirt. Nigerians should stay in Nigeria or travel to the US that welcomes highly trained immigrants. |
ShyM-X:There is no running away bro. I am just here to correct your miseducation. Am I not my brother's keeper? You should define a "3rd world slum." I would say no access to clean water and electricity. And I see many ghettos where there are access to clean water and electricity. Now if you want to talk about the folk in Appalachia or in the rural areas, then you may be correct. |
ShyM-X:I can't stop laughing at you. I was born in New York, but I lived/travelled throughout the South. That includes North Carolina, Georgia and Texas. You know nothing about the U.S. and the little stuff that you do know is probably based on tv. The same goes for your knowledge about Nigeria. There is no comparison between a slum in Africa and the projects or ghetto of America. If you put a slum dweller, in the ghetto of the US, he would believe that he has arrived and can live a better life. |
ShyM-X:Are you really comparing the ghettos of the US with an African slum? ![]() Dude have you even traveled outside of London to tell someone about their own backyard? |
99cent: Nice video. The "slums" of the US, which we call ghettos are actually better than any slum in Africa. You have projects where people have refrigerators, hot water, wash machines, cable etc. Slum dwellers in Nigeria can only dream of the luxuries that those who reside in the ghetto are accustomed to. And I can't forget about food stamps, which some of those people receive each month. |
She is not lying. The writing is on the wall. Oil prices are dropping, because of a surge in America's domestic production thanks to fracking. And when the oil sands in Canada is fully developed, oil prices are going to continue to decline. Nigeria's dependence on oil revenue cannot be understated. |
As someone who was born and raised in New York, I just love diverse mega cities. Lagos is the closest city to New York on the continent of Africa, where you can meet people from all across the globe. |
This is what happens when a nation is a petro-state. Putting your eggs and one basket and not diversifying can cause problems for an economy. Especially now that the US does not demand much foreign oil anymore. |
But Lagos would make a perfect city-state like Singapore. ![]() |
Why can't Lagos simply be Lagos? Do you hear Hong Kong or Singapore claiming to be Asia's Big Apple? Or Sao Paulo as South America's Big Apple? But there is nothing like Lagos. Eko oni baje o! |
Some of the comments I am reading on some of these blogs. It is just as bad as the Cheerio commercial controversy. ![]() |

Even the people living there look and talk like they've got down syndrome.
