Hello house, please I need your wisdom on a choice of MSc to go for considering the latest trend in the industry and the need for 'in-demand' knowledge or skills. I am considering the following graduate programs: Flow Assurance Reservoir Engineering Subsea Engineering Offshore Engineering Production Engineering Could you please help me rank them bearing in mind importance/relevance, 'in-demand' and diversity of application. The schools I am considering are University of Houston, Cranfield University, University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon's University, IPS and OTI-UNIPORT. Most especially the foreign colleges. cc. xfire, etc, etc. Please I am respectfully directing this question to every experienced person here, forgive the fact that I do not know your handles. |

CHM11:I had to download this and I must confess its actually not bad. Just as friedplantain said, it may not be the best but it's definitely not that bad. It is not even up to 2 whole pages and I think it's a pretty good template for someone with zero experience. However, I understand your concern bro, about CVs not being too wordy and all, and I applaud your desire to see that the right info is posted even when you do not stand to benefit from the info or be affected by it directly. Your statements imply you have years of experience, maybe as a professional in your field or as a recruiter or both. I would suggest you draw from your wealth of knowledge and make some modifications to that CV according to what you feel it should look like, and put it up for free download so that job seekers can benefit from the experience of both you and TK. I believe this would be of more benefit to job seekers following this thread, and others who do not exactly fit into that category may still learn a thing or two from you. You don't have to do what I just suggested. Maybe you run a tight schedule or you don't feel bound to do anyone such favour. You are completely right. But if you decide to do it, all job seekers that stumble across this thread will bless you in gratitude as they download and compare. Such altruism never goes unrewarded. It will also lend credence to your concerns on TK's version. @TK, I am not saying your version is utterly lackluster; but it won't hurt to see another professional's perspective. On the bright side, this little debate would heighten curiosity and lead to more downloads than normal, which means more visitors than normal being drawn to your site though this thread, which is the main reason why you created this thread. |
radiantochi:Have you considered applying to the graduate school of any university in Nigeria, then applying for a scholarship? There are quite a number of scholarships around for 2.1 or first class graduates who intend to further their education. You could explore this option. |
Abiababe:I'm sorry, just seeing this now. Hope you finally succeeded in submitting yours. |
bchi:The envelop is unnecessary. You will be asked to bring out the documents and no one cares about your well addressed envelop. I and all others went home with ours. I don't know about other states but for Abia State, you may go with the stapled documents in a magazine or something and simply hand it over when you get there. Or you could put it in a envelop just to look 'serious'. It doesn't cost you much, you know. |
If you are going today, better go on time. as someone implied earlier, Fridays are usually treated as 'half-days' by government workers. Aim for anything within 10am to 1pm (at most). Just an advice, to be on the safe side. |
mYphhiRes:Lolz. I understand how you feel. Plead with any of the fellas here on NL going tomorrow or Monday to submit, to ask the man if it's really necessary; or you may even give the person your details too so he or she can write your name at once if it is necessary and they allow such proxy setting. If they insist you must be present, then you will just have to make the trip again. |
rhemahil:The Director Education, Health and Social Services Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) (HEADQUARTER OFFICE) PMB 5253 167 Aba Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Through: The State Representative Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Abia State Office. Dear Sir/Madam, ![]() |
bchi:Stop at osisioma and continue from there according to my previous post or take a bus going straight to port from umuahia, then stop at obehie junction. |
Abiababe:You didn't say where you are presently. Well, if you are in Aba, go to Osisioma Junction. Then join a bus going to PH and tell them you want to alight at Obehie junction. The fare should not exceed N200. If you are coming from PH, then join a bus going to Aba and tell them you want to alight at Obehie junction. The fare may be 250 or normal 300. At Obehie junction, board a bike and tell the bike man to take you to NDDC office, oke ikpe. Ensure that the bike man knows the place well, this is not a 'maybe...we-go-ask-person-nah' kind of trip, believe me. The road is bad and the place is far. The fare is within the range of N200 and N250, and both prices are fair. Thats it. You go in, submit, write your name on the list and voila! NDDC owes you a notification mail. I just hope the wait won't be forever. Something else: tell your bike man to wait for you. You may have to tip him for that afterwards but I think you will be glad you did. There. I hope that was detailed enough. |
rhemahil:The ukwa west address bro. I was there today and it seems that's the place for submission finally, probably because their state-capital address took a French leave. |
Ifiegboria:Not A4. Use the middle of a white long note. |
The instruction was for us to apply to the Commission's Office in our respective states. Now the Commission's Office in Abia State is non-existent on the said Uwalaka Street and the only option is the Project Office (which only Abia State happens to have). But the Project Office is not the Commission's Office. You see my problem with Abia State? Any useful info on this would be appreciated. Right now I am still trying to get more enlightenment in order to liberate all concerned Abians from this quandary... |
Plus10:Oga read the instructions now, haba ![]() Someone asked whether he can apply because he has bagged an OND when it is clearly stated there that the MINIMUM requirement is WASSC. Abi he no sabi the meaning of minimum? Another said he is from the North and asked if he can apply when it is clearly stated that to be eligible, you must be an indigene of one of the Niger Delta states. Abi he been dey look for false hope? Now you are asking if the letter should be typed or handwritten. This beats me; can't u read it there, stated unambiguously, that it should be handwritten? Please my brothers, let us help ourselves. What we need at this stage is people who would say, "I have submitted mine. That address at so so and so state is not really conspicuous. See how to get there..."; or some other helpful info. If anyone has a question, let it not be another no-brainer. Biko. No hard feelings. |
Please does anyone know the duration of this program? |
I am thinking of studying production engineering (under petroleum engineering) in Uniport for my masters. I thought of choosing this over gas engineering and reservoir engineering because I felt it is more encompassing. However I am still torn and need some sound pieces of advice to enable me make a smart choice. How will the industry view this course (production engineering)? Will it also make one well sought after? I will appreciate any other advice on any aspect of this. Pls wise and experienced people in the house, this is for u, Ifoundmyperfect and others. |
lol. OBAX puts out an advert, then goes ghostmode after making Nigerian youths apply despite horrendous reviews. Says a lot about them... |
Got a regret mail too. It must be the age ish... The test was a no-brainer for mua. I'm also >26 but <30. God dey shaa: one door closes, countless would surely open in its place. See how BAT management are losing potential rare assets because of age that's just a number... Smh |
taiwolusol:Guy the only way is to get a medical report saying u have a contagious disease like tuberculosis (most common) or any other. That's the only way you can be evicted that fast. Or you have a powerful connection ![]() |
teebee22:They used to pay 10k per month but that has been suspended for some months now due to issues with the state treasury or account or something. We don't know if they will continue paying the 10k soon, after sorting out themselves, and even pay us the arrears they owe... We are still hopeful shaa. |
Hi everyone, I am a batch B Corp member serving in Army Barracks, Serti Baruwa, Gashaka LGA here in Taraba State. I understand the way most of you feel about this Northeastern state. I felt the same level of apprehension when I saw Taraba on my call up letter. Now, after a beautiful camping experience (I was even the platoon leader of my platoon), and 10 eventful service months, I am only two months away from passing out. How time flies. I want to encourage everyone who wants to stay here. It is a nice place and the people are very friendly. There are certain small issues (like the sun, sometimes) but nothing to be bothered about. If you, however, decide to redeploy, it is easy for you. For those who will be posted to this place I am, I welcome you in advance. When you come here, you will understand why they call us 'enjoyment corpers'. Lol. 07083160377 |
vfactor:Hello bro, I don't think you got the op's point. A call for one to leave one's comfort zone is a call for one to leave one's secure zone where everything is being provided for one, to quit being reluctant to take risks, to quit being spoon-fed but to go out and hunt. We all have this innate reluctance to leave our comfort zones - where we feel secure, but great men and women are those gladiators that defied pain and uncertainty to bleed for their dreams on the mental, economic, etc, battlefields. Most of us are hatched in our comfort zones. But to grow, we need to leave the nest. 'Nest' here doesn't necessarily mean your home. Your comfort zone may not be a physical edifice. You also need to surround yourself with gladiators/potential gladiators - people who have chosen to fight for the freedom of their dreams/ideas instead of seeing them rot away in their minds, on paper or on their laptops. People who have a burning desire to go out there and make things happen, not wait for something to happen. People who are more proactive than reactive. One cannot afford to crawl when one has a burning desire to soar... (Helen Keller) |

Got a regret mail too... Maersk... But why?? @inibro, why should he smile? That would have been an appropriate advice if he got a success mail but does not think highly of the company. But finally, we all should cheer up. It's not the end of the line. One door may have closed but many others shall soon open... |
