Adechyno: Xenophobic? No, they are very far from that. They like strangers, especially corp members. The girls loves corpers.

Industries? Capital letter NO... The only place you can find one or two industries is Jalingo, their state capital. Most corpers serves in schools..

Food? Food is very very cheap. Thou, the people food is Tuwo. Buh, you can find ur taste of food to eat in the market or buy to eat, if u serve in town. Cow meat is one of the cheapest item there. Also, if you are that kind that drinks, u are good to go. They have lots of fresh palm wine for u.

State Allowance: Its monthly. They pay quick. No delay.

Accommodation: House issue no be problem.
If u serve in a remote area, accommodation is free. But if u serve in town, u are likely to pay, and if lucky, ur ppa might provide for u.

LGA: Wukari is a very beautiful place to be, but unfortunately, its a no-go area. Crisis!!! They have 16 LGA in Taraba. Many of the local government areas have not witness electricity since its creation. Make sure u get posted to any of these LGA: Takum, Zing, Jalingo, Ussa(Lissam). Gembu is another fine place, buh very faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar. Aswear' No dull ursef for camp. Get close to ur platoon officer and platoon commander. Na dem dey do the runs...

Take note: No matter where you are coming from. Taraba is far. Even in taraba, u can travel a six hour jorny on a good road(car).

In a simple sentence, I call mine 'a worthy experience' I served in ussa LGA, KPAMBO.
Thanks a mil bro! Adechyno for President 2015 grin

CareerRe: PZ Cusson/unilever Advice Me by TheCode(m):
Mayosky15754: I got the two offers at hand, the same position at their manufacturing plants but am just confused on which one will provide better opportunities ahead. Had a 2.1 chemical engineering from a federal school. I await ur responses, thanks in advance.
From one graduate Chemical Engineer to the other, I congratulate you my brother. 2.1 in CHE from a federal school no b beans (i know u understand).

I think UNILEVER is better.. they have a huge portfolio and they are considered one of the biggest in their sector.

Comparing PZ with UNILEVER is like comparing Addax with Chevron... both are cool but of course one of them possess more glitter.

I know a thing or two about the recruitment process of UNILEVER, so for you to scale through, you must be a cerebral young man. Congrats again.

PS: I am a recent graduate of Chemical Engineering from a federal university with remarkable grades too and yet to be mobilized for NYSC programme (August batch), but I read wide and happen to know a thing or two about career and industry.

I do not possess any sort of 'insider' information nor am I a senior engineer or suchlike already in the industry. I hereby respectfully urge our elders who have worked in these two companies to share their experiences so as to enable the op decide. First-hand knowledge is always better than reading company profiles off google when trying to determine sensitive information like inherent or designed ease of career progression.

CareerRe: Achieving The Dream Career: My Story, My Lessons by TheCode(m): 9:58am On Jul 26, 2014
Err, ladies and gentlemen, I think x-fire is through with his story (I recall seeing the word 'Concluded' at the end of one of his final posts, around page 35 or so, before the nairaland holocaust) and this thread has served its purpose. It has given a lot of people hope and direction, and has reignited motivation in others.

I have personally been blessed by this thread and may God bless all the contributors, especially darellrivers for replying my mail despite her busy schedule. I am certain many others who were faithful followers of this thread feel the same way.

If you are just seeing this thread for the first time, I'm sorry you missed most of the action but you may still go to page 1, scroll down and you will find a link to a compilation of x-fire's posts that someone has been gracious enough to share.

Someone else who has struggled, attained success and feels the pains of fellow youths enough to share his/her story or has recieved an 'unction/annointing' to do so may start a similar thread. It is a form of altruism and it never goes unrewarded. What goes around comes around.

This thread has done well and is entitled to a well deserved rest.

LiteratureRe: The Cruelty Of Distance(a Short Story) by TheCode(m): 8:40am On Jul 16, 2014
@ op, Hmmm.

Well, from on writer to the other, ur plot is intriguing though well beaten by romance fiction writers, but ur diction is mawkish.

Also, your characters should be better developed (I know its a short story). Your objective is to make us feel the pains of Donald, and u really tried at that but there were some leaks in the story that should have been artistically plugged.

It is even not necessary to hide the social site he went to find love since it is a work of fiction. To be honest, the entire writeup sounded (to me, at least) more like a surrealistic reconstruction of what happened to u or a close pal of urs.

You have got talent and creativity though, else I would not have read up to 80% of the story (I am quite a selective reader). You just need more and more practice. Keep writing - thats the only way to become a guru in this art. I am still learning too.

You mentioned being in 200l. Thats great. By the time u graduate, u may be a bestseller or have a great blog, who knows? I am a graduate myself, and due for youth service come this August. Modestly speaking, I am also an Author, a Poet, a Programmer and a Songwriter (seems i write anything writable, lolzzz), but as I said earlier, I am still learning.

Persevere and one day media headlines may scream about the emergence of a cute young writer... [yeah, I checked out your profile pix wink ]

More kerosine to ur Jet. Cheers!

BusinessRe: Starting An Advertising Agency In Nigeria by TheCode(m): 5:17pm On Nov 15, 2013
mcwalka: pls peeps is there any advert magazine in nigeria
wat do u mean by advert magazine? a magazie solely dedicated to advertisements? y would anyone buy such a magazinehuh adverts are info abt goods/services that people see "in passing". They are usually embeded within something of interest to the viewer or along the viewer's path. i hope u understand wat i mean by these. An advert magazine wont interest anyone... even if its free because it has been robbed of its subtlety, discreteness and demystified of its suggestiveness. imagine an hour tv programme dedicated to different adverts alone... would u try to beat traffic so as to not to miss the show? #goes back to reading the punch.

EducationRe: ASUU Strike: Fagge Salutes Colleagues by TheCode(m): 8:40am On Oct 29, 2013
odizeey: As the ongoing ASUU strike enters day 121, the President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Dr. Nasir Fagge, has commended members of the union for their conduct since the strike began on July 1.
Fagge commended the efforts of ASUU principal leaders at ensuring that ‘there is no going back’ until their demands are met.
In a statement posted on the association’s website, he also described the Federal Government’s stance on the union’s demands as “no more than a repeat performance of a one-act-play: all the deceptions, propaganda, lies, mischief and such other Shenanigans.’’
The statement partly reads, “Dear comrades, as the struggle to save Nigerian University system is being pursued, I like to salute all our members for their resoluteness in ensuring that the 2009 ASUU/Government Agreement is implemented in accordance with the Roadmap defined by the 2012 MoU.
“We believe very strongly that the rot and decay in the university system cannot only be arrested but is also reversible. We believe even more strongly that the key to turning round the university system lies in the sincere implementation of the agreement.
“But our resolve to save the system and our country remains unwaivered. We will continue to carry the banner of this struggle to its logical conclusion. I urge all our members to maintain the spirit of camaraderie and remain firmly resolute in ensuring that our patriotic struggle succeeds. United we bargain, divided we beg!”
Meanwhile, the pioneer Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Jubril Aminu, has expressed optimism that the ongoing ASUU strike will soon be over.
Aminu said this in a speech he delivered at the ‘50+1 Anniversary Lecture’ of the commission held on Tuesday in Abuja. He noted that the FG was committed to the funding of the universities to ensure that students return to the campus.
The strike began after a series of warning strikes by the lecturers over the non-implementation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement. Their demands, among others, are the rehabilitation and provision of infrastructure in the nation’s universities and the payment of earned allowances.
In a related development, the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Chibuzo Asomugha, has said the union has yet to hear from the FG concerning the fresh industrial action which began on Friday, October 4, 2013, following the latter’s inability to resolve outstanding issues with the union.

I dont even know what dbang was thinking when he decided to leave jazzy cos of kanye and his good music label. For a musician like dbang, jazzy is the salt, he (dbang) is the soup. kanye and his foreign teams are sugars. forget the temptation, sugar doesnt make soup sweet. jazzy dey feel am cos u cant lick salt alone. then dbang's music keeps sounding funny with these sugars cos they cant make his type of music sweet!! Even if dbang go feature Nas, Lil wayne, Andre 3000, Eminem, Jigga, Ross, etc., all in one track, he would still sound off! Jazzy is the producer that understands him and has been good at transforming his vapid lyrics and noisemaking into something in the semblance of enjoyable music. without them reuniting, jazzy may keep managing with wande while dbang keeps leaving craters all over the place with each successive crash that environmentalists would raise a red alert!! jazzy is his socket size and if they dont get back together he may keep having partial contact till he blows his fuse (and k-switch own too) :|

some people here should Seriously stop being ridiculous. Tuface is not even worth up to a billion naira. Also, the poster mentioned the names of those worth at least a billion US DOLLARS, not naira. Tuface and all Ann Macaulay films put together, multiplied by 50 is nowhere near a billion dollars... do the math! (@ poster, u forgot mrs. Alakidja or something... the owner of Famfa oil)

RomanceRe: How To Tell If A Girl Likes You by TheCode(m): 4:53pm On Sep 11, 2013
Geez guys, our girls are humans like us, not programmed computers. There is no defined likeness output - when a girl likes u, she could show in different ways depending on her personality. And even if u are so insensitive that u cant detect a change in her body chemistry or mannerisms, though sometimes really subtle, someone (not a pranker) who is better at reading such will 'everly' tell u... "o boy that girl like u o" wink
