Wait o.... Please how were you able to search LOS-JFK via AUH on Etihad? Whenever I try on their website, I'm never able to find LOS-JFK. There's no JFK in the list of destinations, if your Departure airport is LOS.

That my friend is a trade secret...I never said I searched on their website.

The do it that way probably because they want you to book directly with them at the office so they can slap on a booking fee...just thinking aloud

Not travelling in July, that's peak of summer init? grin
So I don't expect cheap flights this period. Chloe7 and I are talking about September/October travel.
Thanks anyway.

I'm not talking about summer...I'm speaking in general. Think about whatever the off peak fares were last year and add on about 40% because the $ prices are the same but the value in Naira has gone up. Even if the fares are further discounted, the savings have been lost due to exchange differences.
Travel / Re: Usa Visit Visa by thegreengooner(m): 5:30pm On Jul 05, 2015
Just a piece of advice...all of you looking for cheap flights, please bear in mind that the Naira has been greatly devalued so the cheapest tickets will be in the $1200 range. Do the math...that's in the 230k range. Sad to say that the days of 190k tickets to the US might be over.

See below...that's the cheapest fare you can get for a 2 week stay in July...

Hello. On my application on DS-160 for Tourist visa, I stated 200k as my monthly salary, instead of 103K I receive per month. I want to use my salary account bank statement at the embassy because I have done transactions of about 50 million naira with it within the last 5 months and it's current account. My dilemma is that even though the HR helps to alter my payslip to reflect 200k on it. What of the salary amount relecting on the account as 103k every month, can't that jeopardise my chance? Also won't the VO question that volume of money that flows through my account? Though I have the invitation letter from my uncle, letters also from my place work as a staff for 6 years, letters from my company cooperative society as a member stating the amount I have and the percentage am entitled to access, letter identifying me as a Postgraduate student of Univerty of Ibadan to the embassy and also documents as proof to properties inherited by me and also am single. How high is my chance?

You have already started to kill your chance by committing fraud.

Please I advise you to not alter any statements but to fill a new DS-160 with the correct details and provide evidence that all your 50m transactions are legal and genuine.

You may be banned for a very long time from the US if you are found out to have provided false documents.

What type of job are you going there for? Beware of Slavery. Some employers will seize your passport and make you work for a certain time under stringent conditions before releasing it.

You will also require an exit visa to leave the country and if your employer doesn't give you, you can be stuck there for years without recourse.

And what is your own assumption if you dont agree at all...

I disagree with the section below.

gentleiphy:

...so VO's sef hardly listens to you even though they were the one that asked the questions as they were busying typing while you talk...point is i want to agree that before you even stand in their front they have already pre approved just waiting to see your face.

The VO's do listen. However, articulation is very important. The only questions you are ever asked are questions you were asked on the form and you answered. Your ability to articulate your answers or regurgitate the responses are very key.

If you do not understand the question, simply ask the VO to repeat the question and don't fumble away and assume that a half-hearted response is good enough. It has been reiterated time and time again that the decision to grant the visa is given as a result of the interview and not a pre-approval.

It is possible that some background research may have been done on you before you present yourself at the interview window. The essence of the interview is for the applicant to positively corroborate the information supplied on the form without contradictions...

I hope that this serves to explain.

That too is a what we feel the VO's use but cases abound here where that requirement was well met and all other factors met too but still visas were denied...i still believe they issue visas as how and the mood they woke up in that day....or how do you explain that of a friend that worked for 2 banks before joining one of the multinational tobacco coy here as a regional manager with wife and 3 kids and good travel history to Europe and Africa, some for work duty and some for vacation..and yet was denied visa on his first application but after about 5 months he came back same condition as at when he applied last and he was granted...the other visa officer that denied him, what was his reason and the one that granted after 5 months of denial what was the additional thing he saw that the denial master didn't see...its just favor from God and not because individual applicants packaged well or were super confident in responding to the questions...so VO's sef hardly listens to you even though they were the one that asked the questions as they were busying typing while you talk...point is i want to agree that before you even stand in their front they have already pre approved just waiting to see your face.

I don't agree with you at all.

If you're working in Onne, you should look towards Rumuibekwe or Rumukwurushi as Onne is outside town.

Is your actual office in Onne or somewhere in the city.

What's your budget for accommodation?

I know someone that can help you out.

Its like if they talk to u set, u he denied automatically. Pls avoid any dealings with them completely if u want to get a visa, even if they greet u, don't answer them

I disagree...I use them all the time. From US Embassy in Lagos to VFS in Lekki and Ikeja and now Telepeformance. I use them for passport photographs and photocopies...no more.

They can have as much impact as you allow them on your application. It's just a photograph, don't think too hard about it.

I've seen this before. What this means is that they were unable to verify some or all of the documents you submitted.

For example, if you submitted a hotel booking but they were unable to contact the hotel to verify it or the bank statements looked suspicious or showed some evidence of 'bulk loading' rather than consistent transactions.

It could also be that the reasons you stated for your trip are not consistent with the information you supplied.

Vice-Consul, United States Consulate, Lagos, Mr. Christopher Richardson, says many applicants are refused American visas because they have not visited other countries.

source:http://www.punchng.com/news/why-applicants-are-refused-us-visas/

I have heard people say ‘but I have an invitation.’ Such people assume that they should not be refused visa because they have an invitation. But our system is not the same as the UK system. In the UK system that (invitation) has to be considered very strongly. In the US system, that has to be considered too but it is not as strong as the UK’s and it doesn’t mean you automatically have to get a visa. Articulation is a big issue. Visa interview is a big issue and applicants need to prepare. It is also important that you know all the information in your application and be fully responsible for them. You also need to plan ahead. Planning ahead is probably number one.

Head of the Consular Section of the US Embassy in Abuja, Carol Cox.

The questions in the mind of the VO to you are Why now? undecided undecided Why America? As big as the world is you've decided out of the blue to visit America first! America that is so far away and expensive to go before ever going anywhere else? Moreso you picked New York, an expensive city to visit. Tell me more...Are you really telling us that you don't just want to abandon your family and live illegally in our country?

Hello forumites, really appreciate all your good works and encouragement here. Please travel experts i would like to know my chances of getting a US conference visa here. I am a professional member of various associations and bodies related to my professional career, and i am a civil servant working with one of the state government owned polytechnic in south-west for about 3yrs now as a senior laboratory technologist (Level 8 step 3). I recently sent my well researched abstract to a conference which is highly related to my profession and it has been accepted after several scrutiny and reviews by the organizers. I have been invited as stated in the Invitation Letter to attend the conference and present the paper as i was shortlisted as one of the presenters from the emerging regions of the developing countries. My fear and concern are the following pls HELP:
1. The conference is holding for just 3 days, how many days should i indicate i'll be staying in the US? (coz i'll like to scout for universities to run my third degree + visit tourist attractions, shop for textbooks while in the US).
2. I have 3 sticker visas on my old passport issued 2001 (2 Asian visas and 1 African visa) and i never traveled with those visas, though i have visited four west african countries with the same passport within 2001 to 2008. Due to the unused visas, should i indicate i have a travel history or i shouldn't dare state that i have a travel history?
3. The conference am attending would be partly sponsored by me and my institution as academic staff are entitled to travel compensation only when it is on academic grounds (presenting a paper internationally), would that pose any hindrance?
4. Home ties - I'm engaged but not yet married at 33+, i have landed properties, a car and a secured government job, is there any issue with this?
5. All necessary documentations as regards my employment, the conference and travel expenses are no problem at all.
6. I have never applied for visa in any european embassies nor applied for US visa too (i am a first-timer) and never been refused visa before i.e no refusal stamps on any of my passports.
pls what advice do you have on the above? Thanks as i welcome all suggestions and opinions.

Please can you explain the section in bold font. Usually people say they have unused visas not 'sticker visas'. Never lie on your application. That's the first step towards a refusal.
Travel / Re: How Can Someone Get A Kosovo Visa by thegreengooner(m): 11:59am On May 04, 2015
The visa application process is shown here;

www.mfa-ks.net

If you have a valid schengen visa you have an exception.

Citizens of the countries which are required to obtain a visa for Kosovo but hold a biometric valid residence permit issued by one of the Schengen member states or a valid multi-entry Schengen Visa are exempt from the requirement to obtain a Visa to enter, transit, or stay in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo for up to 15 days.

Nice write up, what if a student lands at POE on a Sunday does it mean he will be delayed till the next working day, please advise.

Nope...why would you think this? What might raise questions would be if you arrived too far ahead of your course say a couple of months and can't account for your time before resumption. An assumption might be that you intend to work either illegally or in breach of the terms of your visa.

It isn't unusual for students to arrive on Sunday against resumption on Monday.

My passport will expire nxt yr dec...is it true is shud get a new one bfor going to american embassy?

You do not need to get a new passport if your passport expires next December. Your visa is still valid even when your passport expires. All you will need is a new valid passport and your expired passport with a valid visa in it.
