Disclaimer: I’m not “attacking you”. Just sharing knowledge and hoping to learn too.

Africa’s predicament has nothing to do with this. Maybe a negligible amount. Hear me out.

This Africa you see is truly the raw material of the world. Europe, Asia and North America depend heavily on it. They will never let it go. They will never let it have the right leaders. The ones that go against them will get toppled or worst, killed.

Then there’s the IMF debt strategy and the so called aide and “poverty alleviation”. Look at China and it’s low-key moves in Africa right now. They wouldn’t even use local manpower. They’ll import their workers too.

Look at our school curriculum and the entire educational infrastructure. How are we to compete?

The greatest trick was making use believe it’s our fault all along. “You are corrupt and stupid” Blame yourself. Divert your attention from the fact that for every barrel of crude oil, we get very little proceeds back. Tons of raw materials leave the shores of Africa for shikini money. They need it that cheap.

Major industrialisation will not be allowed, least our eyes open and we realise the potential of what we have. A nation can only rise above and meet today’s standards through industrialisation. Manufacturing what they use.

Well look around Africa na. Unrest, dictatorship and famine. Nothing tangible is working. Shey wen you have constant electricity, water, housing and good healthcare system then you’ll diversify more?

Then enters mass brain drain for greener climes. Leaving Africa worst off.

They install your leaders. Why was Charly in the north at the height of political tension between GEJ and PMB? Yaradua’s death was a huge loss to us because that man wasn’t having it. That was quickly closed off with tensions between Niger delta and the north.

There’s money in chaos. Everyone is out to grab for himself. Get into naija politics and it’ll be well revealed. Nobody dey run anything. It’s money to share they’re all after.

It’s not our fault. There’s powers preventing us from rising above. For a minute, imagine this was naija here. You realllllllly think I’ll up and leave when my naira is the highest currency in the world?
My brother, you spoke well here, but the overarching point I must disagree with strongly - Nigeria's problem is NOT the west, much as we agree they meddle here and there. Our problem is ourselves, the system of government we have instituted and the way we allow it to play out and the deep corruption in which we allow our destroyers to happily indulge while applauding them.

I think the visa officers are reasonable enough to understand and overlook minor errors of this sort.

Gurus in the house, how lucrative and what's the job prospect for someone who studied 'M.Sc. operation management' in the UK?
Has the person any other experience apart from this master's degree?
If the person has some experience in the whole supply chain, logistics, procurement area, preferably in an MNC, they could give the UK a shot. Otherwise, my opinion would be that that degree alone makes no real difference to anyone's place in the long long line of jobseekers.

How will I convince them that I’m a Nigerian holding a foreign passport? Travel with my birth certificate? National ID? I mean how will this work?

I rather travel with expired Nigerian passport and face them when I get to the airport. I can’t renew it because of Covid-19
A friend went back earlier this year with his British passport and expired Nigerian passport and he said they let him in no questions asked. He couldn't get an ETC from the HC, was in a rush (father died and they were burying fast due to Covid protocols). I'm not saying this is the standard procedure now, might just be a relaxation of whatever the rules are due to Covid. He's getting a passport now for the outbound trip just in case.

Normally, you’re only required to state any refusals/immigration issue/s you’ve had in the last 10 years.
Not quite correct, you're asked to state any refusals you've had at any time.

Hey guys, I got a mail from my school saying it is very important to submit original copies of documents for visa processing, that submitting photocopies will result to refusal.

I currently have a photocopy of my certificate, WAEC & letter of recommendation. Can I go ahead and submit photocopies pls?
Your documents are scanned for submission, so it doesn't matter if they're in the original or a photocopy.

Yes. Three children. Plan to apply for everybody together.
Just so you know, the rules state that when children are being taken to the UK as dependants, both parents must be present.

Given the government's own infection figures, that some 50 - 60k people a day are testing positive, then with those rates, I'm willing to bet that if every single person in the UK were to be tested, they'll find at least antibodies in everyone's blood.

Hello House,

I am thinking of relocating to the UK with my wife via a Tier 4 (work and study) visa.

Please from experience, what advice can be given on the best location to study/reside as I will be working to support the family while she is studying?

Because this location determines the availability of jobs and getting employment.

Although she will also do some menial jobs with the leftover of the 20hrs given to her.

Please I want to get a sim. At the moment, I stay with a friend, so I have access to WiFi. Which would you advise I get? Contract orpag as you go? Please I need the cheapest rate and bundles ever. Thanks for your help.
Giffgaff gives you unlimited texts and unlimited minutes and 500MB data at 6 quid a month, pay as you go.
Lebara is 5 quid a month, same unlimited texts and calls to UK numbers and I think 2 gig data (check).

Most telcos allow you to order a SIM online and they'll post it to you at no cost.

You'll have to be creditchecked for a contract.

UPDATED POST

Hello everyone, I hope that you are fine even during these unprecedented times. I wish to inquire about renewing my Nigerian Passport in the UK which will expire by July later this year. Without mincing words, getting first-hand information online for this has been very daunting. I will be grateful if anyone could provide his/her Passport renewing experience. I know that there is an ongoing restriction all over the UK, but I want to make plans for next month and I hope that I can renew the passport 6 months before it expires without stress. I look forward to reading from you all. Thank you for your time and esteemed consideration.
If you are still in Nigeria, renew your passport there no matter how much it costs you, and get a 10 year one too.

DO NOT, repeat NOT come to the UK with a passport close to expiry with the hope of fellowshipping in Northumberland Avenue.

Hello people, is it advisable to come to the UK with cash or better to put it on a card? Kindly advise
You could do some of both.
Advisable you check your bank's limits on transactions with its naira card abroad (which are ever-changing), open a domiciliary account, convert [some or all of] your naira to sterling, then get a debit card for that account.

Yeah, I have google Zara near me and the open ones. I just wanted to know if there are other similar to Zara that are not popular but also have good stuffs. I like your hidden reply to the question. Please if you know any so that there can be multiple options for us, especially for our little man. I went to shop grocery at Asda and saw they sell clothes upstairs, prices were about that of Zara but quality not as that. I know people who have been here for years will know those stores that are not so popular but have good stuff especially for kids. I think ours we can get some from Zara and buy more later as we grow in the city.
Debenham's are holding a closing down sale - its online now as stores are closed - check and see if there's anything you can still get there.
Some others are giving reduced prices for instance - M&S still had its 30% off sale on as at last week.
Do Primark for a 2 year old - they grow so fast and you don't really need to invest good money into children's clothes which they'll grow out of before you know it. Fast fashion all the way for children. And your money goes farther there too - there's a reason why their stores are usually so full.

Hello House,
I need your advise here. My family is planning to relocate to the UK via study route.
My wife is the applicant
Course is Social work and duration is 2yrs.
Question:
- How many years post study can we get as a family?
- if Visa is granted, is it a must I travel with my family (plan to still hold on to my job)
- Course intake is March 2021, is it too close to file an application?

Thanks in anticipation of your response.
If your family comprises children, then the rules require both parents to be present in the UK.

Hello everyone.

For a family of 5 going to Aberdeen,Scotland.

What's the travel route please.

Lagos to where and where.

We want to book all the flights at once not get to London before booking another one.

Please help intended travel date is Thursday 7th January.

Please help
On the other hand, if you can shift your trip by one day to Friday the 8th, right now on the BA website, BA can get the 5 of you there at approx. $2,500, which is a bit cheaper than what the poster above gave as the Emirates fare, and way way more convenient as you cut down considerably on layover time. But unfortunately when you buy direct from the website you have to pay with a forex card, so that may or may not work for you.

Are flights still allowed with this complete lockdown?
Your airline will be able to clarify that for you.
No mention of border closings in the PM's speech, so presumably they will default to the current system of allowing travellers in and requiring quarantine.

I think its only BA that operates that route.
Lagos - [London] - Aberdeen, book direct tickets either on BA website or through your travel agent, no need at all to break your journey into two separate trips.

Thanks guys for the swift reply.

1. I can’t add card to apple or google pay as there is no card yet from the Monzo.

2. Monzo app is not functional until after card is activated.

3. I tried opening a starling account and they are requesting for proof of address to complete account opening. I am currently in an Airbnb apartment.

4. Does Revolut request for same as above, if so, then there is gonna be another hold up.

Thanks for the replies.
They didn't from me.
Possibly the delay might be from the post.

Please is it compulsory to submit a study leave letter from my employers and my ID card during VISA application?

I stated that I am working during my school application in the experience/work history, so someone is advising I include the above documents
Not necessary.
You're leaving your job anyway if granted the student's visa.

Hey guys I’ve been thinking lately . If we arrive Uk and open a Uk bank account
How do we transfer our funds from our Nigerian bank account to d Uk bank account ? Considering we can no longer use form A
One way is to open a domiciliary account before you go and then fellowship with the abokis.
Most banks allow international transfers from their internet banking platforms.

Or carry it the old fashioned way on your person as long as its below the legally allowed limit.

Etc.

I have an Enquiry please, i had a refusal in July and I appealed, the appeal was refused in September, when filling my UK application, am I to say have been refused once and explain and should I use the latest date of refusal?
I think you should say you have been refused only once, as it's one application that was appealed.
This is my opinion only - in your shoes I would use the date of whatever appeal decision you received in September, but I think it really doesnt matter because whatever case/reference number your matter had assigned will most logically be a continuation of or refer back to the original July decision, so you have declared your immigration history, which is what they want.
