I'll choose furnished over furnished anyday. Just write off your deposit when you have children.
I've helped friends conducting garage sales of their furniture when they moved from one city to another in the UK, and having just conducted a similar sale of mine in Naija, I'm not in the mood to throw more money down the drain.

I rented a furnished apartment, told the landlord to move out a glass table and the TV, then bought my own TV and set up an Ikea table which I can pack up and take away with me. But have still written off my deposit anyway (I foresee at least painting of walls messed up by children) - if I see it back fine, if not, fine.

My good people, pls come to the rescue.

I am looking for accommodation for 14 days isolation, so I contacted my school and was told that I can't get tenancy agreement for 2weeks except I will be staying in the hall throughout the academic year. And my plan is to get accommodation outside the school.

Now, I need someone to share information on where I can get a place for isolation either in London or Newcastle(school location) which is pocket friendly.

I am traveling on 21st this month. Ejoor o
Rent an Airbnb. And since you plan to live outside school, rent it for at least a month., so that you have another 2 weeks (or 3 weeks if they reduce it to 10 days as is being reported) after the quarantine to look for accommodation. Takes time to get.

Should Incase I decided to withdraw from school while still I’m Nigeria, will mu school fees be refunded as I have paid some reasonable amount of fee. I will appreciate your candid advice and step to take. God bless
Check your school's terms and conditions given to you before you made your payment.

If you are in the UK you should have no trouble opening an account, simply select your desired bank and follow their procedure online.

Good morning all.

I am really happy to see that a lot of fellow Nigerians are relocating to the UK and doing very well for themselves. It's very refreshing to hear irrespective of the obstacles we face on our journey to success.

Having said that, I want to say that it is highly impossible for anybody to come from Nigeria or any other 3rd world country and in less than 2 years OWN a house or a brand new 2019/20202021 car. If you noticed, I placed a huge emphasis on the word 'OWN'. If you take a mortgage to buy a house or you are making installmental payments for the brand new car you bought, I am sorry, you do not own those properties and you have plunged yourself into debt. It can take more than 30 years to clear these debts. If something happens and you are not able to make the payments, they would be re-possessed immediately.

My advice for anybody coming on a tier 2 visa is to save and aim for (financial) stability. Getting a mortgage, buying brand new fancy cars, and making any unnecessary purchases within the first 2 years is really not ideal, in addition to all other monthly bills & taxes that will be paid. Use this time to build wealth, save, build a good credit e.t.c. If you end up losing the job and are not able to secure another one under the grace period you would be removed out of the country. Why not try to settle down and after 5 years of being under tier 2 status you would be eligible to apply for ILR which is one of the most stable statuses for immigrants as your stay will no longer be dependent on your work sponsor.

I think it is important for us not to give our country people the wrong impression of life here in the western world. I'm quite sure most of us might have had the experience of receiving phone calls to send money back home because they think we are living in heaven on earth. We are currently in unprecedented times, multiple jobs are no longer secure mostly due to the economic fallout of the pandemic. I can only say that the most secure jobs presently are GP & nursing jobs within the NHS.

Aiming for financial stability should be the objective.

Wishing everyone well as we all hustle in our own legitimate ways.
Very valid points, to be commended to everyone for consideration.
The OP has done well, to be congratulated.
But we are Nigerians first, we come from a background where our parents took their first cars home to the village for libations, difficult to overcome the mindset.

Tinyemeka:
Oh yes!
Extremely easy and that's why the UK is most times the first option for nurses who wish to emigrate.

The government on its part is rather content with importing overseas talent from relatively poorer countries to fill in those jobs that its own citizens have overlooked, instead of increasing the pay. If the govt should increase the NHS pay bands, do you think the sector will still experience the talent shortage it's currently facing? For how long can they keep on importing nurses and doctors?

Something is wrong somewhere.
Indefinitely.

Good Morning all,

International Students studing in France and wants to move COMPLETELY to the UK for studies on a Fresh Programme.

Can you kindly list the VISA REQUIREMENTS?

Will they still have to pay the IHS fee?

I hope to hear from you all soon.

Thanks.
Research, research, research.

For the bolded, that's an interesting question. I think you most definitely will have to pay the IHS - the UK has left the EU and I think any EHIC entitlement you may have in France will lapse in the UK from 31 December, and in any case, when you cease being a resident of France, you will lose any benefits you may have in that regard.

Just a piece of advice concerning bank statements...

Always ensure that your statement is signed (endorsed) by 2 officers of the branch where the statement is printed before you upload.

This can save a lot of questions.
This is not true.
Different banks may have different requirements, GTB for instance, issues purely electronic statements that can be printed from internet banking without coming near a branch.
Don't put people under pressure.

Does it make sense to fill in my Nigerian work experience? abi it doesn't count here.

Biko I need answers ooo. I dey job search site now
Why wouldn't you fill in your [presumably relevant] Nigerian work experience?
They use all that "British"/"Canadian" experience thing to filter out people they don't want, not that any experience not acquired here is useless. State what you can do. Sell yourself properly.

Did you get an email that your BRP has been sent to the post office or did you just show up there? Did the principal applicant also collect from the post office or Uni?
No email - the "BRP letter" enclosed with the passport from the UK application centre stated the pickup location.
All of us collected from the post office.

There should have been a folded letter inside the envelope you received when you got your passport back. That's the letter you have to present at the point of collection of the BRP.

Hello everyone, I will like to get your thoughts on this. So I studied Geology in my first degree, I have worked in an oil servicing company for some years as a completions Engineer ( Petroleum Engr. related). Now I want to do my Masters in the UK. I actually wanted to go for Petroleum Engenineering but we know oil and gas industry is not booming at the moment and that could limit me in terms of job. I have actually applied to some schools for Civil and Environmental Engineering, and also Environmental Management for Teeside. I have gotten unconditional offer from Teeside for now. Still waiting on the others. My question is, what would you advise I actually go for in terms of versatility for job. Please I will appreciate your sincere advise on this environmental studies. Also I am open to other choice of study that is really on demand practically.
I'm not a petroleum engineer and this is just an aside, but I hear that decommissioning is in demand now in your industry and an environmental course with a focus in that area could sell you better.

Then don't submit the cover letter from the bank. You don't need one.

The confusion is because there are two bank details stated therein. Here's the bank I use:

If you compare with the two details, there are some stuffs missing in Barclays which is found in TransferWise and vice-versa
Oh, I see what you mean now and what is causing the confusion.
It's strange, I dont remember seeing that before, I always received one set of bank details when I made all my transfers and it was their Barclays Bank details and address.

Input the Swift Code and IBAN number you were given there into an online Swift code checker and it will let you know the bank to which they belong, and if it is Barclays Bank (as has always been the case for my transfers), it will indicate and then you can use those.

Hi guys, I'm trying to use TransferWise from Nigeria. The transaction is in pounds, not naira as I have a pound domiciliary account in Naija. I'm confused on which details to use, they are slightly different details or i should use both, please help TheGuyFromHR and others who know about this app
Not sure where you have a problem, but if it is concerning addresses, the first address is TransferWise's own address (i.e. payee address), while the second is its bank's address (Barclays Bank).

In wire transfer forms, there are spaces for inputting both these details, and that's why they're given.

Please kindly help

What is the most profitable method of taking ones savings from a 9ja account to UK?

An option was--Opening a pound domiciliary account (knowing that black market pound rate is expensive to fund the account)

Or which method is advised?

Asking for one who would travel to the UK before the year ends.
This is your only viable option (including any pounds to naira in Nigeria deal a private individual might offer you).
You can't transfer any meaningful amount of naira out of Nigeria as most banks have limits around $200.

Please I need a clarification regarding Statement of account.

Does the statement start counting the next day I deposit the proof of fund or visa officer starts counting from the first activity on the statement?

I deposited my proof of fund on 8th September and I printed statement from September 9 to October 8 on the 8th. My school has issued me CAS and given go ahead to use this statement .

However i just received a conflicting information from someone else that the statement is not up To 28 days as the visa officer will start counting from September 17th which is the first transaction showing on my account .

Please I am about applying for visa and I don’t want to make mistakes.
9 September is fine. You can even submit an account that shows no transactions whatsoever, as long as it covers the 28 days and the opening and closing balances fall within the required amounts.

Should I upload the CAS as a supporting document under other documents in TSL.

2. What are other documents I can add to the ones stated on my application checklist because my checklist says three documents. Degree Certificate, Passport and Government Sponsorship Letter.

Thank you greatly.
1. No need to upload the CAS.
2. That's all you need to upload there, except you have other relevant documents you want to be considered.

Hi FAM, please i need your input. I Plan on moving to bournemouth in December,

Is it possible to rent a flat while still in Nigeria?

Can i get a landlord private property instead of an agent, the deposit is killing?

Your response will be highly appreciated
The deposit is generally what you will pay for the next month's rent anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem; you must have it already anyway.
There will still be references requested or a guarantor or some months' rent upfront in lieu.

So if you're not willing to pay in advance for a place as yet unseen, then you'd best come over first and rent an Airbnb while you sort things out on the ground.

Try again, or try Revolut. I just arrived on Tuesday and immediately set up Monzo and changed my TransferWise address, then got both Monzo and Transferwise debit cards (very useful for buying in fresh groceries, some of the majors like Sainsbury's don't take Nigerian cards), and I don't have a BRP either, still isolating.

Calm down, feel free to go ahead and ask your questions, but the angle you came with is strange - age has nothing to do with it, people who are older than you have gotten both admission and visas, and if it had, what help would a school rep render in that regard, forge you a birth certificate?

Hello, please when you put in ur card details when making reservations, was the money deducted from your account immediately.I'm trying to make reservations for my family but I don't know if it's safe to input my card details
Yes, you will most likely be debited right away, and possible refunds will depend on your host's policies and the length of time you're renting for. You need to be aware of that. The pandemic has changed everything, basically you cannot now cite the pandemic as a reason for cancellation too. If you want a reservation with no payment only, try Booking.com, but for flat long-stays the best deals are on Airbnb.

We were scheduled to arrive at 5.25 am in Heathrow, ended up arriving by 6.07 a.m, but the connecting flight left on time (8.30 am) so we spent about 2 hours. Generally within schedule. Terminal 5 was crowded but they fast-tracked those with close connecting flights.
