Politics / Re: Cost Of Living In Nigeria Is Cheaper Than UK Or US by thelegend1(m): 4:15pm On Dec 03, 2023 |
LikeAking: I actually understand your point. Over in the UK you can see your taxes at work in different areas of the economy. But in Nigeria, the reverse is the case. Your tax is actually used to oppress you. |

Mindlog: Quite an impressive and apt breakdown. Though I feel the VAT on purchase and one more other tax was left out by you. Yet again, impressive breakdown still. 3 Likes |

descarado: Pls respond intelligently. At no point did I say Nigerians don't pay VAT. My point is that both income tax and VAT (plus other taxes) are way higher in the UK compared to Nigeria. Nobody is jealous of you as I've experienced life on both sides of the equator. Perhaps living abroad is your greatest achievement and ambition in life 6 Likes |

You people are forgetting the tax that comes with that income, as well as VAT on the items purchased. In reality, that £10 is worth 6£ 1 Like |

As funny and satisfying it is to see the same tribal bigots who insulted others for voting objectively...na still all of us dey suffer am. Let's tell ourselves the truth...can we really bear 8 years of incompetent leadership? Some people had to postpone weddings, marriages crashed, businesses crashed, kidnapping, theft suicide are now normal occurrences..all in this APC administration. The Judiciary is compromised as well as all other Government agencies. When we are fed up, let's rally and take our future into capable hands. |

Romance / Re: Frightening Moment Two-deck Ferry Sinks On Bahamas Trip To Blue Lagoon: One Dies by thelegend1(m): 10:03pm On Nov 18, 2023 |
Rebuker: Sharks are territorial but there are measures to discourage them from mauling when in the water. - excessive splashing of water - direct hit to their nose - if you're female, make sure you're not on your period. Back to my initial comment, that's why I'll need a board or something from the boat to float atop or partially submerged. But in the end it comes down to: - having your drowned carcass eaten by sharks - or have a chance of fighting and eventually surviving (even if it is minus a limb) 2 Likes |

Watched this stuff on YouTube, and it was quite vivid and scary. Seeing nothing but open water without land in sight, knowing you're not a good swimmer is quite scary. Apart from the life vests, I would have dismantled parts of the boat to use as floatation device. Because people put their 100% fate in life vest; only to enter water to discover it is faulty or just a temporary floatation solution. 2 Likes |

I empathize with you and also the private companies. The cost of doing business in Nigeria is quite high with meagre returns. I would actually blame our government and Judiciary that continue to allow bad governance to thrive. 20 Likes 2 Shares |

When it comes to betting, treat it like you're trading stocks/commodities, not like a get rich quick scheme. I personally stretched N50k into N100k last week from bets which I used to take care of minor expenses. The economy has become so bad and the cost of business is high with meagre returns. Hence betting is the easiest thing to yield returns with low investment. But be very careful not to get hooked...1 loss is equivalent to 5 wins. 2 Likes |

I'm still hoping on the day that people will come on this thread to say things like..."since I left cult issues, I made my first legitimate N10m, bought a house, took care of my family and mentored my friends". All this dragging of superiority, trying to identify which frat person wey done die belong to, counting scores with your fellow brother (meanwhile herdsmen will butcher you fellow indigene and silence will prevail, Dollar is $1 to N1,000, high unemployment in Nigeria, Govt by selection etc...SMH. steffi01: I totally relate to the story and I'm sure most Nairalanders have also. Whoever can witch hunt, backbite or deliberately denigrate and bring down his co-worker over another man's business deserves his comeuppance. That's why you'll see some people have no value or meaningful relationships outside the job. |

Desammyst: It can be anything sir...the industry is quite wide and our population in Nigeria will consume any product. I'll give a few examples, so you understand my line of thought. Product: Glass. This can be made with a superheated furnace and even there are small scale ones. Your major raw material is surprisingly SAND. Supply chain: Building contractors, SMEs that package goods in glass (brewery, oil etc) Another example is plastic waste. You can just be a supplier to recycling companies... You also have Agricultural produce with a wide range of supply chain as well. It still boils down to your expertise, experience, environment and what you're passionate about. Send me a PM when can discuss further. |
